Made a quick stop for wings recently and wow! The place was hopping at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon and the vibes were there along with great music. I absolutely loved the smoked wings. I also love that they bring out every sauce for you to try each of them. My friend tried the tenders and loaded fries and really enjoyed her food as well. Not pictured are cheese curds that were served with a jalapeno ranch if I recall and those were sooo good! The servers were all checking in on us and pitching in to help each other which I thought was a very nice gesture amongst their staff. We came during a busy NFL playoff game. We ordered and got our food fast. I got the appetizer sampler but they missed giving me 2 sauces. I asked to get them and by the time I got them my food was already cold. The smoked wings are great and the sauce cart is the best. I would come back for the wings but nothing else was great. Walked in and was instantly greeted by a tortoise looking woman, who rudely mumbled something that none of my party could hear over the TV's that would make a jet engine sound quiet. We then proceeded to sit down and wait for 15 minutes before another ogre came over and told us it would be a little longer. Now mind you i haven't even gotten a water yet. Now the waiting can proceed once again, another 5 minutes? Nope. Another 15? Nope. Try 20 minutes. Now finally after i come to the realization that i am a complete fool and i will never get those 40 minutes of life back, I walk up to the bar and ask Shrek if she would be so generous to maybe serve us a water to share for the table. She responds in an irritated tone,"Were busy it's gonna be a minute." We arrived at oak tavern for a quick bite before date night at the movies. We figured arriving at 5:30pm gave us plenty of time for a 7:15 showtime at the cinemark theater 5 mins away. Placed our order at 5:45 and wait and waited and waited. They kept saying the food would be right out and it just wouldn't come. They initially charged us for the food but finally at 7 when the food still hadn't come they comped our meals. The food arrived at 7:15. My friend ordered no bacon on her burger but it had bacon. We both ordered side sauces and didn't receive those. I guess the one plus side of the night is we saw The Drama and it was pretty entertaining. Can't say I'll ever be back to the oak tavern though. read more

this is the second time that i've been here and both times i've had an issue with receiving my food. i went up to the bar multiple times checking on my food, just to be told that they are "working on it" and then never get my food. i went up to the bar again asking for a refund and they couldn't find my order and they told me to write my name down and they will give me a refund...no refund. read more

Ewwww. Disgusting! Dive bar meets college frat house complete with dirty greasy counter, tables, floors, and seats. The place just smells really really bad and the bartenders don't even bother to wipe down the bar tops. Dirty, filthy, black floors, caked on layers of black gross dirt everywhere! I can even imagine the kitchen... all I can think of is Jon Tapper from Bar Rescue coming in and screaming at everyone for being super lazy and serving rodent and roach contaminated food! Yuk! I literally had to leave because the smell was so bad and washed my legs from the stool and my arms from the bar top. My experience here was pretty disappointing. We ordered the nachos and jalapeño poppers to start. The poppers were actually pretty good, but the nachos came out with unmelted shredded cheese, which was a letdown. We decided to order some wings to go, but after 45 minutes we hadn't seen a single server. Eventually, we went up to the bar and found out our wings had been sitting there the whole time, no idea for how long. The bar wasn't even busy (maybe 2 or 3 other tables and a couple people at the bar), so it's hard to understand how a large to-go order could be forgotten like that. Cool little bar In Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati's east side. Nice outdoor seating, great atmosphere, friendly and prompt service. I stopped by with a friend for lunch. I totally went against my norm and didn't get wings. (Anytime wings are on a menu I try) I had the "Oak Tavern" chicken garden salad. I was somewhat disappointed as there were no frills here. At $9.99 I was expecting a nice large lunch style salad. What was served was a small side salad with chicken cubes on top . I have not wrote off the Oak Tavern completely. I will return for the wings and a beer next time. I should have followed my intuition and previous Yelpers reviews in doing so. read more

The wings at Oak Tavern are just incredible! They were big, perfectly cooked, juicy, and super flavorful. I have been dreaming about them ever since. The service was a little slow, which is understandable because the place was packed. However the ambiance was not conducive for conversation. The inside of the restaurant has nothing to absorb the sound, and the music was blisteringly loud. I asked our server if she could turn it down, and she did. I really appreciated that, but it went back up as more people came in throughout the evening. It was so loud I could barely hear the person next to me. I'm a bar food lover and this didn't disappoint. We had the kids with us (8 & 10), I wouldn't suggest taking kids any younger as they mostly have high top tables. They do have some regular tables outside. I hear this bar is for Brown's fans and my husband said it gets extremely crowded for Browns games. Anyway, the wings definitely make my top 5 in the city. I'm a sauce queen and to get a variety of sauces placed right on your table tops it off for me. The sauces didn't taste like cheap sauces you buy from Kroger, they were legit. My chef salad was loaded with ingredients and I would order again to stay on the lighter side. Onion rings and crinkle cut fries were good. Service was impressive at a spot like this. It was my first time here and so excited I was invited out to enjoy some golf wings and drinks. Parking available in the street at meters. I went on a Sunday, so the meters were free. Anyway, back to the wings! With their welcoming smoky flavor and several choices of wing sauces, I couldn't get enough. I didn't know there was another good smoky wing spot besides the one downtown and happy I have another option. Each sauce was delicious but my favorite was the spicy garlic. Nice tavern in Oakley (Not to he confused with Oakley Pub). It is small, fills up quick. We like to go later in the evening on a weekday when it slows down. Their food specialty is their wings. According to their owner they are fried and then finished off on the grill for a nice smokey flavor. They bring you 6 kinds of wing sauce to your table which I appreciate. You can stick to one flavor or try them all. We add a side a crinkle fries and a few beers. Their outside patio is also nice, you can bring your dog to the patio, they provide water bowls for them. If you're looking for quiet, dont go during the weekend or during a sporting event. It's usually pretty busy but totally worth it for their wings. The Oak is a casual neighborhood spot. The smoked wings are excellent and the sauces come to the table so you can mix and match. If you are a fan of wings you have to try the Oak. What got me to finally write a review of a favorite spot was the service last night. It was the first Friday of the NCAA tournament. UC has played earlier in the day, at some point a huge crowd rolled in from a nearby watch party. Throughout the entire time we were there, on probably one of the busiest, rowdiest days of the year, everyone working was super helpful. Nobody said "I'm not your server" or anything like that. Quaint little pub, we stopped for dinner. There were 2 of us, and we were seated immediately. It was really loud. Our server was prompt and courteous the whole night, and we settled in on sharing 20 wings and a couple of drinks. After a round, one of the servers stopped by the table and said "it shouldn't take this long for wings, let me buy this round for you." Shortly after, our own server stopped by and apologized, letting us know one of the people in the kitchen had walked out, but she didn't tell anyone, so they had to refire our dinner. He also offered to buy a round for us, but one of us had to drive, so we politely declined yet another round. Turns out, it was worth the wait. The smoked wings are amazing, and they're served with a 7-pack of sauces, so you can dip, dunk & soak until your heart's content. They were smoked perfectly, so you really didn't need the sauce, but one of the cooks created "Buffaloak" sauce, and it's just amazing - totally marketable! I mentioned it was really loud - it is. There are no sound mufflers anywhere in the room. Tile floor, glass windows, and the noise level is really bad. They do have outdoor seating, and they seem to be really dog-friendly, so I think next time (and, yes, there WILL be a next time) we visit, we'll opt for the outdoor area because the food is wonderful, the service is phenomenal, and the prices are ridiculously good - of course, half our tab was comped, but even before, we were still looking at less than $25. Finalllyyyy! I've heard so many good things about the wings. I made it in today. Picked up 20 wings for myself, mom and cousin. The service was excellent. Even the phone order was great. I let him know it was my first time. He hooked me up with variety of sauces. The Carolina is my favorite. Now the wings, unique seasoning, tender, juicy and just the right amount of smoke.
