Made a reservation for 8 on a Saturday for a friend's birthday. The hostess had asked if we were celebrating anything special and to my pleasant surprise, they decorated the table with happy birthday napkins and a little birthday hat. I love these small extra gestures because they really do go a long way for me in terms of customer appreciation. The restaurant wasn't too busy at 1pm on a Saturday so you can probably get seated quickly without a reservation. It isn't directly next to the ocean but you get a nice ocean view so beautiful spot to eat at ! I got the Lagunarita (with torched lemon foam) to drink and chilaquiles and chicken and waffles. The Lagunarita is apparently their house made margarita and it was yummy but not really my preference. I did loveee the lemon torched foam though! As for the chilaquiles and chicken and waffles, both dishes were super yummy! Definitely recommend ordering - it's a perfect combo of sweet and savory with the two dishes. read more

We were here for lunch on Sunday 4/19. Unfortunately they were really understaffed and the service was very slow. The food was ok but it took almost an hour. When we asked the server (who was also the bartender) to at least send out our appetizer fries, he explained that they were short staffed in the kitchen. He did bring out our truffle fries and they were good. Our food followed another 10 min later. I liked the ambiance but the service made the experience less enjoyable. read more

Visited Oak this evening while vacationing in Laguna Beach and we were so impressed with everything about it. We felt welcomed from the moment we came in. The service was outstanding. After a family day of swimming at the beach we came here to have dinner. We were seated right away for a party of three around 4:30pm Worked out just perfectly. The service was great so was the ambiance of the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered a few things to try and loved them all. The food is delicious with lots of variety. I'll save this spot for future visits to Laguna Beach. It's one of our most favorite places to visit in Southern California. read more

Cute little spot that I stumbled upon on a Sunday dinnertime and the pictures on yelp looked really good so I decided to give it a try. I didn't really like my dish off the seasonal menu. The scallops were smaller than I thought it would be and only a couple of pieces came out on a plate. The skirt steak on the other hand was really tasty. The flavor and doneness were on point. The meringue martini was a lil sweet for my liking but decent. Service could've been better, would've liked to see our server come around more. read more

Back again. Love this place . Calamari with their amazing slaw was delicious but the mushroom burger was the best I've ever had. Topped it all off with a perfect espresso martini for desert. Kendra and Venus are the best part about this place. Just the best bartenders around. Came in on a Saturday evening and sat at the bar with my friends. Had a few drinks (can't recall names.. a couple holiday drinks and a couple sours) - Kendra knows how to MIX a drink you hear me. Also got a chance to try their espresso martini. I usually don't like them bc they're inconsistently made (kinda like good red velvet cake or stuffing/dressing - When done well it's magical, but most attempts are meh) but Kendra made me a believer in this drink! Food was fantastic. Got the meatballs, calamari and burgers/chicken sandwich. All of us were licking our fingers by the end. The burger was perfectly moist, perfectly charred. Fries - also perfection. Even ended the night with their donuts as a bday surprise for my friend. Tbh I liked the gelato it came with more than the donuts themselves, they were kinda flavorless to me but overall still enjoyable. Can't believe I've visited Laguna for years and this was my first time here. Will def be a repeat spot!! read more

Gorgeous little spot! I had the beat burrata salad and it was incredibly tasty, light, and refreshing. By far one of my favorite salads. The ceviche was pretty solid! I also had the espresso martini and it was nicely crafted. Service was a bit slow. We came in a bit earlier and they were so considerate and let us get seated earlier than our reservation. read more

Last Thursday we went to happy hour at the Oak. We were greeted upon arrival, sat at the bar and promptly served by the bartender. We had a great time! Venus our bartender made a fantastic vodka martini that my wife absolutely loved. We ordered food including the Spicy Chicken sandwich and Crispy Tuna tacos and both were delicious. Plus the added view of the ocean made this a perfect experience. I definitely recommend the Oak. read more

Loved this little gem! We went for lunch and really enjoyed our meal. My favorite dish was the wagyu burger. The crispy ahi tuna tacos and meatballs were also good (the meatballs could have used a bit of spice but the sauce was really good). The only dish I didn't care for much was the kale & brussel sprouts salad. They gave a generous portion of blackened chicken with the salad but the dressing wasn't great. Each dish was beautifully presented and our server was really sweet. I'd love to come back and try brunch. read more

Food was great! We liked everything that we ordered, but service could've been better. We didn't get our waters refilled until we asked near the end of our meal. The seabass was melt in your mouth good. I will definitely order that next time. Wish it came with a veggie, but the mashed potatoes were good. The farmers market stir fry with salmon added was what I got and it was delicious! I wish it came with a sauce if protein was added, but it was still delicious. Popcorn cauliflower was a great appetizer for everyone to share and the sauce was really flavorful. My husband really liked the Oak burger and liked the fries even more. My husband and I went here for my birthday dinner and we're very disappointed in our experience. There was a very large birthday party seated next to us so maybe that's why the service was so poor. I ordered the big island martini which was supposed to have black lava salt on the rim, but instead it came out with no salted rim and a dried garnish. Normally I wouldn't really care but this was an $18 cocktail. I mentioned this and it was corrected. Then I ordered the marinated skirt steak tacos for dinner and they are supposed to come with chimichurri. The person next to me also got them and there's came with chimichurri but we had to ask for mine. The service was pretty slow and my cocktail and dinner were a letdown. read more

This is a cute spot with the gorgeous views. We went here to celebrate a birthday, and it did not disappoint. We shared some appetizers including the calamari, ceviche, and sweet and spicy ribs. I planned a surprise birthday party for my Dad at Oak restaurant and the owner, Tony, was incredible! He was so friendly and willing to work with me. He made my Dad's celebration so special and was so incredibly accommodating. He was so thoughtful throughout the planning process even down to a fun and special candle on the cake! The staff were friendly and the food was delicious! Especially the chicken parm! We called Oak to reserve a table for 7 to celebrate my son's birthday. We got there and everything was ready. The service was amazing, they took our order and also the cake we brought in for birthday. The view from the balcony is amazing and added to our experience. Appetizers were amazing and food was great. All orders came together after we had our appetizers. For dessert, they brought the cake with a sparkling candle on it. Super flavorful rib appetizer that had me licking my fingers to get all the sauce. My wife said the steak in the tacos had amazing flavor. My Chicken Parm was huge, and the garlicky pasta was a perfect side. My son went healthy and has the stir fry with shrimp - beautiful selection of heirloom veggies, not just the usual stuff. Asked for a view, and had a beautiful balcony seat with a view of the ocean and sunset. Despite of our server's terrific service and cool ambience, the foods we ordered were below our expectations. Berry spritz did not have any sweets that should come from either the lemonade or the berry purées, Oak Street Classic Meatballs were ok but nothing special about it, none of the foods on Nana's Chicken plate were seasoned well except the fried chicken, and the sea bass was cooked in perfection but wasn't seasoned at all. Mashed potatoes bedded under the sea bass were great but the orange jícama relish and lemon mustard sauce were not seasoned and they felt out of place. When you eat them with the sea bass, all three did not blend together. There are plenty of parking spaces and you can get a validation from the restaurant. read more

Our plans for the day blew up due to traffic so we stayed local. There was a coupon for oak in our hotel packet so I knew we had to head there. We were able to get a reservation. Oddly, the place seems bare when you come in. I got the bacon tacos and my daughter got the French toast. Food was phenomenal and portions matching the price. Service was even better! It was chilly and they put a heater right next to us and brought a blanket for my daughter. We will certainly come back before our trip is over. read more

Came by with a few friends for restaurant week. The service was surprisingly bad like abysmal. There was no hostess and we stood around for several minutes before looking for and asking an employee to seat us (we even had a reservation). Our server wasn't very friendly and didn't refill our waters. Another employee noticed that we were all empty and went to grab us some more. I got the ahi tuna tacos, steak, and bread pudding. The ahi tuna tacos were fine - not amazing but I enjoyed the shell. It's not something I would order again if I came back. My friend got the burrata which was really good but the ratio of bread and chutney was way off and could use a third slice of ciabatta. The flatiron steak was really good. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. You could also really taste the truffle in the mashed potatoes. This was my favorite dish that I had. I also tried some of my friends salmon and that was also really tasty. The bread pudding was a little disappointing. A big sell for it to me originally was the popcorn ice cream and I was excited to see how well they infused the flavor. It turns out it was just vanilla ice cream with 2 pieces of popcorn stuck on top. I think I fucked up by not getting the bon fire or bomb fire. Whatever the fuck it's called. WOW. I genuinely cannot say enough good things about Oak. My mom and I had the most incredible experience from the second we walked in until we left. A heartfelt thank you to Tony for making us feel so welcomed from the moment we arrived. His kindness and genuine hospitality immediately made us feel at home. Our server, Darvin, was absolutely unbelievable. Attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and so genuinely friendly. Honestly, every single person on the staff made us feel like family, and you can tell how much they truly care about creating an unforgettable experience. And the FOOD... I am a huge foodie, so I don't say this lightly. It is hard to find a restaurant where every single thing you order is phenomenal, but Oak absolutely nailed it. We ordered so many different things because we wanted to try everything, and every bite somehow kept getting better. The artichokes? Incredible. The clam chowder? I'm still thinking about it. Truly some of the best food I've had in a long time. It wasn't just the food, it was the entire experience. From the manager, tony, that was extremely accommodating to our party, to our server, to even the young busboy who had a smile on his face the entire night. We sat outside on their patio deck which was beautiful, ocean view and warm weather, loved the ambiance. First off, the cocktails were delicious!They had a Jalapeño and Celery cocktail which may sound weird, celery right? but it was perfectly balanced. We had the calamari appetizer, the portion was quite large and was delicious! I ordered the King salmon, It was cooked perfectly. My date ordered the shrimp cakes, we were concerned that they wouldn't be enough however we were wrong! We didn't want anything alcoholic for a beverage and asked for raspberry tea or something similar and they had no problem whipping together a drink with fresh berries. We finished our dinner with Nutella ice cream. It's not like normal ice cream, it was incredibly smooth, normally I don't have a sweet tooth but I couldn't put it down. We got an off menu starter because of the birthday celebration and got to meet the manager Tony who was very cool! I quietly mentioned my drink was too spicy and without ever asking the server comes back with a fresh one, said the manager is taking care of the first one and it was perfectly spiced the second time. Just stopped in for dinner on the way down the coast. Amazing views of the Pacific. They sat us on the outside patio and the people watching was off the hook. Surfers, beach bums, tourists and locals. We watched a crosswalk that see's people getting missed by drivers every hour. We started with meatball, very filling. There is a lot of Asian flair on the menu, but not in the Ahi. Done more in a Hawaiian style with diced mango where you can actually taste the tuna. Hot chicken sandwich was not as spicy as I would have thought, but juicy and the bun crispy. Pork belly tacos were delicious, but a little oily for us. We liked being able to identify most of the beers and wines on draft. Staff was super sweet as everyone in this town seems to be. Just a wonderful dining experience at the oak. Sat ln the patio and had nice heaters at the tables to stay warm. Buss boy was especially accommodating. My group shared ceviche and calamari to begin, yum! I ordered coconut halibut which was amazing, sweet from the coconuts and crispy and tropical taste. They had a fun flight special feature on the table, didn't order one but was tempted , might need to come back for that. Also our server told us about wine Wednesday which also means a locals night which is SO cool. Love incentivizing the community to dine locally. Tony the restaurant manager even hand delivered our drinks which was pretty neat and later made sure we enjoyed our whole meal. What a wonderful dinner my girlfriend and I had at Oak tonight to celebrate our birthdays! The dinner was absolutely delicious and the restaurant is beautiful! I enjoyed the seared salmon with a light tomato sauce, beans, corn and other delicious vegetables filled with a cornucopia of flavors. My girlfriend enjoyed the grilled salmon with broccolini, cauliflower, carrots in a lemon caper dill aioli. We paired our dinner with a glass of their tap wine, Hess Shirtail Ranches Chardonnay which was delicious! We topped the meal off by sharing the espresso pana cotta which was fantastic! We were not seated until 6:55 and were seated inside. We were offered free drinks to compensate for our long wait, they never came. We each got a drink, one cocktail was overly sour, mine champagne cocktail was room temperature. I got the clams linguini. The clams were great, but the linguini was very al dente, and the pasta was filled with raw shaved garlic and rings of raw red onion. We got the dessert sampler. The donut was great. I had such a wonderful experience at Oak Restaurant. The mushroom burger was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The combination of ingredients was unique and satisfying, making it one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. What a gem. We were lucky to have the bar manager, Cat, as our waiter, when our foursome celebrated birthday/mothers' day at brunch this morning. With all the covid rules, like limiting seating time to 90 minutes, and the distancing,( which I appreciate,) they pulled off a smooth and gorgeous presentation that was at the same time not intrusive. Oh, and the food was delicious. Really delicious. The brunch with Champagne special is a great deal, by the way, and the generous inclusion of an excellent Champagne (or possibly sparkling wine) was perfect. Went for lunch earlier and started off with an Oak Mule, which tasted of wonderful ginger and contained a sprig of rosemary. Definitely recommend the Calamari as a starter! The jalapeños they comes with definitely give it a fabulous twist!! We loved it, so much so, we had to order a second Calamari plate. For my main plate, I had the West Coast Fried Chicken, which came with garlic mashed potatoes and oc slaw. The portion was plentiful and the mashed potatoes were divine! The chef definitely added his personal twist into many of these dishes. As for desert, the donuts and ice cream are pure heaven! All in all, highly recommend Oak! read more

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of options, so there's plenty to choose from. The steak tacos were delicious, and the salad was fresh and flavorful. The fries were just right, though I wasn't as fond of the artichokes. The drink selection was solid, and the service was excellent--the staff was friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. I try to come here as often as possible because the drinks are ALWAYS delicious. What really amazed me was the customer service from Bryan. It's extremely rare to encounter a server who is very outgoing-polite-attentive-informative all at the same time. I really hope this restaurant gives Bryan some recognition because his kind of service is something you don't experience everyday. My friend Kristie and I went to Oak last night for dinner and let me tell you, the food and service was truly top notch. I just had a graduation celebration dinner here, and it was fantastic. I talked to the manager, Carmen, and she was so helpful. Our server, Dylan, was great and attentive. The whole staff made me feel special. The food was super delicious! All my friends loved it, especially the burger, the fried chicken sandwich and the broccoli and artichoke sides. In comparison to the other restaurants in the area, the Oak is reaching a little high to meet the clientele as Nick's, Carmelita's, and Okura - and falling short. That cinnamon roll is the size of a dinner plate, so we split it 3 ways (could have easily served four). The cream cheese frosting isn't overly sweet, so when paired with the candied bacon and maple syrup, it balances out nicely. Yum! Edgar kept my coffee cup full and made sure we didn't need anything. The ceviche is OUTSTANDING. Light chips, fresh fish, expertly seasoned. The addition of the pickled mustard seeds on top add something unique to the flavor profile, so much so that we were googling how to pickle mustard seeds ourselves. Some of the best ceviche we've ever had (and we've had a lot). Could be spicier, but delicious. So the food and service are great - did I mention the view? Sitting on the patio, you overlook a serene canyon and their golf course, and feel like you're in a completely different space. It's so beautiful, peaceful, open, and lush. I could sit on that patio and eat cinnamon rolls and drink my neverending coffee all day long. The ocean-facing restaurants get all the attention in this town.
