Cute a cozy spot in the neighborhood I had not tried yet. Service was great and staff were well informed about the menu and made great recommendations for food and drinks. Some of our favorites were the shoer rib croquettes, potato pave, duck entree, and steak entree. Tia Maria and hibiscus cocktail were yummy as well. Bar area was a bit dark and the light on our table did not work but this did not hinder the experience. Happy to have a nice addition to the neighborhood and will likely go back. read more

This has to be a joke? Was hyped up by the reviews but oh my god was this place so incredibly mid it wasn't funny. So blah in every respect, food service drinks. All the appetizers were essentially ready to go, simply reheated to lukewarm and sent out. Wouldn't be surprised if they started out frozen. The cornbread was so boring, the oysters weren't hot enough. The duck was sitting around maybe from the night before and reheated. Just so incredibly boring the whole thing, couldn't wait to get out of there in the end. This is the most excited I have been about discovering a new restaurant since the first time I tried Sarma in 2013! The vibe is casual yet upscale enough to match the incredible food! Since it was our first time there we ordered way to much to try out a large portion of the menu and almost absolutely everything was incredible! Our #1 favorite of the night was the polenta. The flavor and consistency were both perfection and even my husband who generally dislikes polenta was stealing it from my plate! The fried oysters come in a close second and we also loved the Halloumi and of course the potato pave is delish! The only slight disappointment was the skillet cookie which was overcooked and not gooey enough, but the perfection of the bananna donuts more then made up for it. I am a vegetarian and my husband loves meat and Oak Bistro had more than enough options for both of us to be very happy. This is our new favorite and I am guessing we will be back often! read more

Some friends and I made a reservation for brunch at Oak Bistro this past Sunday. It was my first time there and I'm happy to report that the food is excellent and the ambiance/space is warm and cute. The service was very patchy (couldn't tell if they were maybe short staffed?). Drinks took anywhere from 15-50 minutes to come out (we waited for an espresso martini for almost an hour, but it was also delicious and they comp'd us that drink because of the delay--thank you!). We waited almost half an hour to place our food order and it took a while to track down the check as well. When we asked after one of the missing drinks, we were made to feel like we were being a bother. I'm hoping this was just a one-off experience, because it's a really lovely spot and our meals were great quality. Would definitely recommend the eggs Benedict or the hash. Willing to try Oak Bistro again, but definitely a little weary after this first experience. read more

Oak Bistro is the best thing to hit Inman Square since Covid. Sadly, they took over the space where Frieda's used to be and went under as a result of Covid. However, Oak Bistro nails it. Food is awesome. Staff is fabulous. Ambiance is great. It's so refreshing to have a local spot again that checks all of the boxes. Plus, when you get there (I've been twice now), they have your name on the table and for my son yesterday, had a Happy Birthday sign on the table and gave him a free fried dough desert with a fun candle that didn't blow out when he kept trying! Oak Bistro is like having your best friends open up a restaurant a few blocks away. Just awesome! We came for brunch on St Patrick's Day. None of us had been to Oak Bistro before, but I liked the menu and saw that it got high ratings. We had a lovely experience. It's got a country style interior that is pretty and nicely decorated. Another small detail that we appreciated was the handwritten card on our table with my friend's name on it. She had made a reservation and the card had her name on one side and flowers and a quote about spring on the other. This small detail just made us feel very welcome and leant a special touch to the meal. I loved the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce wasn't not too heavy and really flavorful. My friends enjoyed the burger and the French toast. Ww each had a cocktail, I loved the cocktail with chacaca and passion fruit foam, and the pear Mimosa was great. The server was friendly and attentive. All of the staff were knowledgeable and nice. Parking can be difficult here, so if you are driving give yourself some extra time. I look forward to returning and trying the dinner menu. We had a great time. read more

I recently happened upon a new place in Inman Square. I looked into the spot and found that was well-reviewed and Brazilian-owned. Sounded perfect and did not disappoint. I had the Bolognese, which was fabulous. The service was impeccable and the wine list was quite good as well. I discovered that Oak Bistro is open late and serves small plates at reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning with friends to enjoy more of this delicious fare! read more

Went here expecting a great meal and came away pretty shocked as to how this restaurant has such good reviews. The service was pretty slow and we didn't receive our cocktails until after both our app and main had been served. The ambiance was fine. It was the food that was really disappointing. Started with the fried oysters, which were pretty average, and the croquettes, which we enjoyed. The mains were quite disappointing. The presentation of the food was great but that feeling faded away once we dug in. We had the burger which was unseasoned and came with tomatoes that were still semi-frozen. I've had better burgers at airports. We also got the salmon which was again very underwhelming and bland. We mentioned to the staff that we were disappointed by the lack of flavor/seasoning and they suggested we use the salt and pepper shakers... Finished with the beignets which were again lacking much flavor. Sadly we will not be returning. read more

Visited at the end of April so the outdoor seating was a bit chilly at the time but I'm sure it would be very pleasant for a summer evening meal. Really wanted/expected to love this place, but unfort was quite a disappointment :/ Ambience: lovely, warm, cozy. Hightop chairs uncomfortable for my 6'3 husband. Service: very slow. Took a very long time to even take drink order -- ended up ordering drinks and dinner at the same time. Food: biggest disappointment. French onion soup was too sweet. multiple things went wrong with our order: (1) my boyfriend's steak was not cooked to the level he specified (2) my risotto was not fully cooked (the rice was crunchy and borderline inedible) (3) there was also a giant glob of melted together cheese on top of the risotto that couldn't be mixed in to the food. on the positives, the corn bread we ordered was really tasty. the potatoes pavé was ok--nothing wrong with it but it also wasn't amazing. for a restaurant with such high price points i expected the food to at least be fully cooked. a small thing: we were celebrating a birthday yet did not get the complimentary dessert. we saw two other tables receive the birthday dessert. i'm not sure if our waiter just forgot or was maybe upset that we (politely) complained about the quality of the food. nonetheless, i cannot recommend oak bistro and was surprised by both the low quality of the food and service despite the positive reviews both online and from mutuals. won't be going again :( read more

Came here for drinks and apps with some friends and had a wonderful night! Ordered the longboard pizza of the day, braised short rib croquettes, pan fried halloumi cheese, and house made potato pave. Everything was delicious and service was great (I forget our waitress's name but she was awesome!!) Didn't have a reservation, but had no problems getting a seat at the bar + table. Our server Noelle was so sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients! She really took care of us this meal and brightened our day! Thank you, Noelle, for a great dining experience! We learned this place was a relatively new establishment but a true gem. We came here for brunch/lunch and were seated immediately (table for 2). The ambience was just what we were hoping for: lively yet quiet enough to hear your dining companions, well-lit yet cozy, with lovely modern decor all around. The food was absolutely delicious and we were so impressed with the quality and flavor of the food! The avocado toast was among the very best I've ever had. I was dubious at first about the mushroom addition upon seeing it on the menu, but it was really a highlight of the dish--incredibly fresh and (apparently) locally sourced from a mushroom specialist they have! My partner got the French Dip Panini which was also delicious! The fries were really flavorful and tasty (that's coming from someone who doesn't usually enjoy fries), and the braised beef and melted cheese inside the panini were on point. We thought the price point was really affordable for the quality of food and service. Portions could have been slightly larger, but we felt it was the perfect amount for us; we left feeling satisfied, not bloated. Visiting Boston for a week, and ate dinner at Oak Bistro last night. It was fabulous. Apparently the menu changes often, but the short rib ragu with pappardelle was so amazing! Also had the ahi tuna with avocado appetizer and it was delicious. Husband had the steak (pretty good, he said), the spicy octopus appetizer which he complimented, and an herbal margarita that was quite different from the usual too-sweet cocktail, and very, very good. Place is charming, if a bit loud. Noelle was our server and couldn't have been more helpful. If we lived in Boston, we'd eat here for a lot of special occasions. read more

had birthday brunch here. he had the fried chicken and waffles, and i had the french toast. both were phenomenal and generously portioned. service was above and beyond - did not expect special birthday treatment, but was wished a happy birthday by multiple people and was gifted special donuts and a song. was not particularly psyched about being sung to hahah, but i definitely recognize it was lovely service and far surpassed many places I've been. ambiance was lovely. comfortable seating, lovely table setting, and joyful decor. will be back! read more

Oak Bistro opened up around the corner from my apartment mid September and I couldn't be happier. I ate there for the first time in its second day open. I have been there many, many times since then and have never been disappointed! I'm trying to eat my way through the menu but it's tough when they make seasonal changes. French onion soup- Yum! Mushroom Risotto-double Yum! Burger, gnocchi so delicious. I did have the steak recently and again... fantastic. But for dessert... beignets all the way! However tonight I ordered the apple cider crème brûlée. We'll see how it goes. It has a lot to live up too. And of course last but most importantly is the staff. What a great group of people. All of them are so super sweet and attentive. But they really understand the meaning of "community". Again. I'm so happy Oak Bistro is here! read more
