It is now The Two Foxes. They don't serve food anymore but the bartender is great guy!

Good beer, good selection of beers, no longer serving food. Not sure why yelp wants me to say more.

Excellent food. Gnocchi with spicy sausage was amazing. Would definitely recommend with any group.

Good pub ambience. Good food. Good service. Good prices. A little too noisy, but that's pretty typical.

Harry's Café Bar - life saver

We have gone here for years but regardless of the remodeling, the quality of food has declined with…read morehigher prices. For all the poached egg meals I've ordered recently, all have been solid. Soar dough is either stale or over toasted. I think it's time for a change of places for me.

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with this place. Maybe it would get better if I stopped…read moregoing during the big rushes, meaning early brekkies and lunch time. The food is AMAZING! Really good and the portions are great, neither too big or small. which is nice. I guess my issue is the service.... more importantly servers. While the guy I assume is Harry, is fantabulously brilliant the other servers are..... lacking. First there is the guy today who talked about his vacation to Poland, where he drank so much vodka (which is apparently miles better than the stuff here in Ireland) he was sure it was 24 hrs straight, while I patiently waited for my menu. Now, I am proud of him. I would have died from alcohol poisoning if I drank vodka for 24 straight hrs. However, I am not really sure the doorway of your place of employment is really the place to have said conversation, because I was far less offended when he retold the story to a table full of regulars. Seriously, I was. No clue that was about, but moving on. Second there is the too cute for words little boy (in all honesty he is probably in his early 20's, I am just old) who always looks like God pooped in his cornflakes. Every time I see him I want to ask him if it is really so hard to look as if he completely hates his life. I mean even a look of total boredom would be better than the "I may have to go to my room and listen to Morrisey after this because misery loves company" look he ALWAYS has. However, since the food is good, the coffee decent and the proximity to my gaff is ideal I will continue to frequent this place and endure angsty little boys and oversharing on the drunken front.

A perfect wee hotel bar named after famous hotel guest Hardy, from Laurel and Hardy obviously…read more The bar itself is has over seven draft beers on tap including Smithwicks and Hop House 13, they also stock a range of spirits including a load of Irish Whiskeys. They don't have ginger beer though! The staff are great, considering the size of the bar they keep everything running smoothly. We asked a member of staff for advice on what to do while visiting and she immediately sent over a local employee who gave us some tips. Although we just ended up staying in Hardy's all evening. They serve food, it's a more casual dining experience than the hotel restaurant serving up burgers and wings - more traditional pub grub. I can't fault the bar at all - it was really busy when we visited, which I imagine it would be most evenings. Don't bother venturing in to town before trying this bar out!

We didn't really mind when we found Hardys Bar! The bar itself was nice and still had some Christmas decorations up! I noticed the bistro part had an open fire and was really cosy but I wasn't sure if we're able to sit there because we were only ordering drinks. The bar had a great selection of drinks and shots which explained the sore head the next day. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant but the food that was being delivered to other tables looked delicious!

Another shocker! while discovering the exceptionally pleasant walk along the sea in Sandycove on…read moreSunday I also happened upon another new eatery which I had never heard of... tummy rumbling and child shouting we ventured forth. The Martello is a charming little bistro - the sort you really wish was within staggering distance of your own front door, sadly for us it would be a considerable stagger - some 10 miles - and there is no amount of alcohol of an eve that will keep me going that long. Inside it is perhaps a bit dark during the day but in the evening you don't notice this. The cuisine is European I guess; I can't nail it down any more than that. They do Seafood - glory be, a seaside restaurant that knows what a fish is! - this is a favourite rant of mine, not half enough fish places about... The menu is a set affair for 25Euro pp for a 3 course meal but splash out and pay the supplement of 4.50Eur and get the Dublin Bay Prawns, worth every cent. The Mediterranean Seafood stew is likewise worth a shot, lovely with a bottle of good dry white wine!

The kiwi had a steak, which was one of the most perfectly cooked steaks I have ever had. The service was perfect and lovely. They even remembered we had to be out of there by a certain time to make a show, so the food was prompt and beautiful. Add to that the fabulous gay couple sitting next to us, who were lovely, chatty, and told my bf how fabulous his outfit was. It was like home.
