The Martello is a charming little bistro - the sort you really wish was within staggering distance of your own front door, sadly for us it would be a considerable stagger - some 10 miles - and there is no amount of alcohol of an eve that will keep me going that long. Inside it is perhaps a bit dark during the day but in the evening you don't notice this. The cuisine is European I guess; I can't nail it down any more than that. They do Seafood - glory be, a seaside restaurant that knows what a fish is! - this is a favourite rant of mine, not half enough fish places about... The menu is a set affair for 25Euro pp for a 3 course meal but splash out and pay the supplement of 4.50Eur and get the Dublin Bay Prawns, worth every cent. The Mediterranean Seafood stew is likewise worth a shot, lovely with a bottle of good dry white wine!

The kiwi had a steak, which was one of the most perfectly cooked steaks I have ever had. The service was perfect and lovely. They even remembered we had to be out of there by a certain time to make a show, so the food was prompt and beautiful. Add to that the fabulous gay couple sitting next to us, who were lovely, chatty, and told my bf how fabulous his outfit was. It was like home.

His wit is lightening fast which helps as he reaches for the higher shelves The Guinness is superb and worth the visit alone having been thoughtfully managed with temperature and excellent maintenance by professionals There is no pub in Dublin or Dun Laoghaire that I want to spend in more than this pub Some call if "the old man bar" because young and old alike feel welcome there If you like fun the owner encourages all singers good and bad to belt one out so don't be shy even if you don't know all the words. I highly recommend you go there have a pint and a good laugh. I'll probably see you there the next trip I'm home from Florida to visit my family!!!

I had a fried chicken sandwich that must have been 5 inches tall! He had the corned beef and cabbage, which was such a production, it came in two large containers. One held caggage, potatoes and carrots, the other 3 delectable corned beef patties in a sea of what I think was a bechamel sauce. Scrumptious! We loved the ambience at Dalkey Duck, so many rooms or bars to choose from. Service is always excellent and lots of good craic, friendly staff and patrons.

Daniels is great…read more That's it, great. Come here a lot with my family, have for years. The menu isn't anything wild, huge steaks, chicken kievs, rack of lamb, that kind of thing. But it's just so well done. Delicious. Plus, how can you argue with the service when Daniel himself comes out of the kitchen and chats away, tells you about his new wines, where the steaks come from and drives home to get rhubarb for your desert cause he ran out (this honest to goodness happened one night). Lovely man, lovely family run place, lovely food. Go.....now!

We both had steaks rate and medium rare with a delicious pepper sauce and fabulous homemade crispy onion rings. The star of our evening however was Daniel himself. On this night, he was both waiter and chef and was so considerate and charming , I could imagine bringing friends from abroad there just for the experience of meeting him! The food is classic Irish, well-executed and delivered with an authentic Irish welcome. Prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommended

We definitely liked the atmosphere and dekor. It was a Wednesday evening so it wasn't overly crowded but still filled with some regulars and other guests. My friend went for the Lamb Stew and I got the Beef Burger and we both weren't too excited by our food. My friend thought the stew could've been better seasoned and I found the burger a bit too dry. But nonetheless we both decided we want to come back und eat here again too. Maybe we were just unlucky or picky that day.

We got the lunch set - I had the chicken wings and grilled salmon. Chicken Wings were fabulous. Huge portion of crispy wings in a spicy and slightly sweet sauce best described as heavenly. The chicken was great, but the sauce! It made the dish special. Definitely recommended. And then the Salmon. The mashed potatoes soaked up the sauce, the bacon and vegetables provided a wonderful texture, and the tomatoes, which were grilled on the vine, were among the sweetest I have ever eaten in my entire life. And then the Salmon - the skin was crispy and delicious, as was the Salmon itself. Definitely worth a try. Overall, highly recommended.
