I feel like I might rate this restaurant even more if it supplied wheelbarrows to wheel ya out of here when you're finished your food.
It's that good that I just can't stop eating. So. Good. Can't. Stop. Eating. Must. Stop. Can't. Stop.
Hidden away above the Castletown Inn, Green's Restaurant is often forgotten by locals, until they return. The food is quite simply impeccable. I had a goat's cheese salad to start which was toasted to perfection; the flavours of the salad and the cheese mingling perfectly. Then chicken breast over potato gratin with some type of jus (i.e. gravy) You also get served extra potatoes and veges for the table. Now this may sound like a very plain meal to you, and you would be correct in your assumption. But, you would also find had you ordered it, that the quality of the ingredients, and the way in which it's cooked, transcends any 'plainness'. It's tasty, mouthwatering, delicious, good food.
Service is always fantastic, very attentive and lovely waitresses.
And the cherry on top - the price. Three of us ate starters, main courses and deserts, with one bottle of wine. The total came to €80. Amazing value. Generally speaking, the starters are around €5.50, mains from €11 - €15, and desserts, €5.50ish.
The only reason I haven't given this place five stars is the decor. Having been here for quite some time, the place is looking a bit long in the tooth and desperately in need of some 2013. Really bright lighting is always a massive bug bear for me - I think lighting can make or break a dining experience. If they got these fixed, this place would be a sure-fire 5 star-er! read more
