Mike and his crew helped move me out of that sacred and awful NYC institution: the fifth floor walkup. And not just any walkup, a west village one built in 1865. True story. How is that different? Well the railing leans on different floors, the steps change heights and if you ding a wall hard enough, that's a hole that lasts a hundred years. So that was the challenge. And Mike and his team met it. Everything went out and down smoothly, nothing got dropped and, using only a regular sized minivan (because I don't know how you'd park anything bigger on that street in the west village) they did the entire studio apartment in two trips. Couch. Mattress. Everything. The price for all this? About half of what I got quoted by everyone else. So the upshot is this is quality moving at a fair price from a guy (and team) who pulled it off with some of the toughest NYC moving circumstances. I'd give em some business. Tried getting a hold of this guy and we talked briefly on the phone. I was asking pricing for different furniture because I was still trying to decide if I should use movers to move absolutely all my stuff or just some of the big furniture that I couldn't carry. He ended up saying quite rudely - "Listen, you send me a text with everything you need and I will Then he became completely unresponsive, 1 word answers. Screen shots attached. Switching up all of the pricing - he originally told me over the phone for the bed and dresser that I would be paying $185 to move it. Then I said - okay and I also have an A/C he said extra $10 then I said and the dresser comes with a mirror on it but the mirror is detatched - he said extra $10. That is when he said text me exactly what you want moved. I texted him ALL of that plus a small trunk and he quoted me $350 - how does that make sense? Mind you this is me having to follow up with him about pricing and talking to him over the course of 2 days - like please be professional and give me a quote asap. Note the times in the screenshots. Also note that I blocked out my addresses however they are legit a 10 minute walk from each other.. under 5 minute drive so I am confused how that warrants that price. I found an amazing deal on a lounge chair and ottoman on Craigslist, and needed a man with a van to help me pick it up on short notice. I also found Mike on Craigslist -- his listing offered flat fees for three clearly laid out levels of service: Curb to Curb, Partial Service, Full Service. I thought Partial Service sounded good since I would need a little help. I gave him a call and told him what I was moving -- he gave me a great quote, and we agreed on a time. He called me an hour before our scheduled appointment to confirm, which calmed my nerves, and he showed up on time. On top of that, he was a great help, and we had a nice conversation on the way from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Great guy. Five stars -- professional, prompt, reliable, helpful, likeable. read more

Mike and his buddy Miguel were great in that they were available, punctual, personable and hard working. However, they tried to pack way too many things in one van (would a second trip kill them?) AND they ended up breaking my 36 inch flat screen TV and tried to imply that it was my fault that it was broken. They also scratched one of my wooden chairs that I told them to be careful with. So now for the details on my inner Manhattan move... I had mostly boxes and some fragile items that needed careful wrapping. I gave Mike a heads up on all these items and let him know some things will need to be wrapped. He quoted me 300 for the whole thing (I tipped them 50 bucks, so ended up being 350), which is fine (but I have had professional movers move my things for only 150 more than that and nothing came out scratched or broken). My biggest issue is that when I found out that the TV was broken and let Mike know, he took no responsibility and said he had another call and had to go. I had to end up buying a brand new TV that cost more than the move itself! Meaning the whole move cost me over 600 bucks and I could (and should have) gone with professional movers despite that i had no real furniture. The TV was working the day before the move and the day after it was broken, which isn't surprising because they just had it in my blanket (which was clearly a temporary wrap) and they put in on the back of their van where it was bumping up and down the road. All I have to say is that if you need to move only a number of things fast and need a man with a van, go with this option, but if you don't want to risk anything being mishandled like a TV without its original box, don't go with this option. read more

Michael was amazing. He communicated with us every step of the way and was ultra patient and careful with our various size and shape items. He was gentle and cautiously wrapped our tall house plant that we were afraid would get destroyed. Our building had all these ridiculous rules and we had to wait for another move to finish before he could even start. Then the other movers were so far behind schedule and still had no access to the padded elevator! He patiently waited as we lined up the items on dollies and then took multiple trips up and down with us until the elevator was finally accessible. It definitely took at least an hour longer than it should have, after he waited for over 1.5 hours just to start! He was a complete gentlemen and never complained once. Mike was a fantastic, friendly mover who was honest with his charges and responsive by phone. I used him to pick up a piece of furniture I bought on craigslist and deliver it to my apartment. I chose the one man + van option and assisted him with the item. We spoke over the phone and agreed to a price, time, and location. He alerted me 10 minutes before our agreed upon time that he would be late due to traffic, and then called when he was outside. He brought materials like plastic wrap and dollies that made moving a lot easier, but more importantly, he was friendly and I didn't mind sharing a ride with him from the Upper east side to Chelsea, which is my #1 issue with most movers. I had the most incredible experience with this company. The owner and his wife came and they were the sweetest people I have met in a very long time. They came to my house right on time and brought all of my things from Long Island to NYC. Michael had an injury from the moving job right before mine...it was actually a pretty bad laceration where he had to go to the hospital after he finished helping me with my move. I called and said I was moving an item that is like a bookshelf. Because it is "like" a bookshelf, not a traditional looking one. And he replied, "LIKE a bookshelf?!?" I felt he was talking down to me and had a condescending tone the entire conversation. When I asked whether he would accept cash payment upon arrival, which he could have answered with a simple "yes" or "no", he said, "if you look on the website, it's all there." I honestly thought payment upon arrival in cash may be preferred by him and wasn't comfortable paying for this in advance online - even though it wasn't a high charge ($100). I would not recommend him, mainly because I felt the experience from the beginning phone call was unpleasant and couldn't imagine doing business with him during a move, even a short one. I found the phone conversation stressed, rushed, and rude, so imagined the move would be the same. read more

Michael just helped my husband and me move a huge and heavy dining table with 3 leaves and 6 chairs. He gave me a very fair quote with only a few days' notice, confirmed the day of, got to the pickup point before we did, packed and wrapped everything meticulously, and unloaded everything into our apartment. I called a few days ago for curb to curb service for a small move in Queens, with pretty short notice. I was just moving the stuff in my room, no furniture,just a few boxes and suitcases. Mike provided me exactly what I needed and picked me and my stuff up and drove us to my new place. Total cost was $130, which I thought was very fair. I didn't need anything big and most moving companies had minimums and didn't even offer curb to curb. Even though it was just a curb to curb thing, Mike helped me get all the stuff inside his van, and then helped me get everything out. I was stressed out with all the move but Mike genuinely did his best to make it smooth. Super chill guy, I might even say I enjoyed the ride in his car with some good tunes playing. My move was last second week of July so this kind of late post. However, I thought these guys deserve a good word for the service they extended to me during one of the stressful days of sojourning in NYC. The moving team was so professional. Mike made sure I understood the steps he sent me a very thorough quote. Upon sending my request on Yelp (yay for the discount!), Mike personally called and spoke with me regarding my moving needs. The moving guys came with a REAL MOVING TRUCK and I was happy and felt confident my stuff will be okay in transit. My previous move was a horrible experience, the movers just came in an old small van and some of my belongings got destroyed. I've learned from that lesson hence I made sure I'd hire a professional: NYC Moving Man With A Van. The moving guys were also very kind and friendly. I saw how gentle they were to my stuff they made sure they were wrapped/covered well so as not to get dents in transit. Although they came late they made sure I was informed of the delays but they were quick to start as soon as they arrived. Overall the transition was smooth and they somehow lessened the stress I was going through. Moving is never fun. Anyway, I highly recommend this moving company.
