Best move ever! Cannot recommend Chris and his outstanding team enough. We moved from NYC to NJ last week and we're already mostly unpacked and organized thanks to their exceptional system. Let that sink in for a minute! 10 guys showed up at 7am sharp. Everything in our 1200 sq ft apartment was wrapped, boxed and loaded onto 2 trucks by 11am. We didn't have to lift a finger. In fact, we left! The team was at our new home by noon unloading everything. I showed Tony, the team leader, my vision for where everything was to go. He had a photographic memory for my furniture, and knew exactly what I meant as I was describing each piece. All was in place by 3pm. For me, the real test of character is when something goes wrong. As I was completing the walk through, I noticed that our new credenza was minorly damaged along one side. Nothing major, but definitely damaged. I personally saw this piece all wrapped up, so I'm not sure how it happened - it certainly wasn't for lack of carefulness on their part! But hey, it's a move - these things happen! I reluctantly mentioned this to Tony, and he not have been more graceful. He called Chris, the company owner, who instructed them to take the piece with them to get repaired. Back on the truck it went, and it's currently being repaired by someone who also does restoration work for Christy's auction house. They will deliver the piece back to us once it's looking like new. Talk about service! Don't hesitate. Book these guys. This was the best way to kick things off in our new home. You won't regret it! read more

We contacted R-Way Movers after we read several glowing reviews about them on various online forums. We were so happy that we did. It was a stress free move from start to finish. To begin Chris was the only mover who inspected our apartment before providing an estimate. We're skeptical of online quotes. He broke down the costs in very precise terms and explained that they would refund a portion of the packing charge for any boxes that we packed ourselves. They provided the boxes the following week which gave us plenty of time to pack. On the day of the move they arrived ON TIME with a crew of 10+ people! As Chris explained to us moving is all about manpower. With Chris coordinating everyone's efforts it was an extremely efficient process. Within the first hour the first truck was packed and ready to go. By 11:30 am they were done packing and loading all of our stuff, and we were on the road. At the new house Chris brought in an extra crew who had just completed a nearby job, because he thought they were behind schedule (trust us they were not). They were done by 2 pm. Surprisingly what really impressed us was not the speed of the move. It was care with which Chris and his team handled our stuff. For example, in our new home Chris had all of his team members remove their shoes and put on booties to protect our newly refinished hardwood floors. As Chris explained it you can do everything correct but if you scuff the floor on the way out that is what the customer remembers. We were beyond satisfied with R Way, and we would highly recommend them to anyone. Their level of professionalism and customer care is unmatched, and it was an absolute pleasure working with Chris. He is a perfectionist, and you see it with his work. We wish all of our contractors were like R Way. read more

Definitely 5 Stars. Our coop apartment had serious water damage in exterior-facing walls and parts of flooring. In order to get the work done, we needed to be able to move stuff around a few times and send some furniture and stuff to storage. Not knowing anyone else who ever needed this particular kind of service, I searched the internet for companies that might do this kind of stuff - e.g., not your typical pack up and move somewhere else project, and that were also preferably located within a reasonable distance so we wouldn't have to be concerned with the company having to come over bridges or through tunnels or otherwise from some distance. I found a few that might be able to do what we needed and met the other criteria and made some calls. One or two simply gave an hourly quote over the phone. Only one company was interested in coming over to actually assess what needed to be done. That was R-Way. I first ended up talking to Chris Sr. I learned that it was unusual for them to get a customer that was not from a referral. I had a very nice conversation with him. Chris Jr. is who ended up coming to make an assessment. We had a few conversations over a week or two and finally settled on a plan and price. Due to the nature of the work that was going to be done and the fact that our coop was getting the contractors who would be doing the renovation work, we needed to wait to get official word of the starting date. Chris Jr. worked with us to be able to meet our needs, which changed a bit over about a 6-to-7-week period. Chris was part of the team almost every time that participated in the packing and moving and such. We were very impressed with the whole team of folks who came at various times. They were all nice and pleasant and helpful and efficient. We couldn't believe how efficiently they got stuff done. it was like watching a well-oiled machine. 5 stars. We highly recommend them. If we ever actually move somewhere else, R-Way is who we will call. read more

They have been in business for decades - a family company who stand by their word, are responsive and dedicated, and are some of the nicest people you could ever hope to work with. A dear friend recommended them to us, and Chris Rooney (the owner) came personally to our apartment to give us an estimate. On moving day, they showed up EARLY, moved us within Manhattan from one high rise building to another, in about 4 hours total. Nothing broken. Nothing lost. None of our wood furniture even slightly scratched. They even packed up our perishable food in the fridge and freezer, and we had it al unpacked in the new space as if it had been there the whole time. Incredible. They were early and ahead of schedule throughout the process. The guys on the team were genuinely polite and excited to help us move. Sounds silly but in this day in age you don't find that anymore. I scheduled them for 9 in the morning (and they showed up early around 8) so I could start packing some of my personal things into boxes. When they came into the apartment at 9, they were quick and very careful about making sure everything was packed without damage. They were in and out in only an hour!!' Chris and his team were beyond fantastic. They moved my daughter from Murray Hill to the Lower East Side. They had the apartment belongings loaded into the truck in under 2 hours. When we get to the Lower East Side, my daughter could not move in because the apartment was not ready for move in. We were in critical mode. Chris said "Don't worry." They stored all my daughter's belongings in their warehouse for three weeks and then moved everything in (all in pristine condition) without issue. They even put her bed together! There are no words. They are fast (11 firemen working at once would be!); efficient, great to work with - even having to carry an 8' sofa up 11 flights. I would never use another mover! What a pleasure to have these guys move me . Went from Manhattan to Connecticut and all in one day. Great clean cut guys led by manager Neil who was a true gem. Would've given them a five star rating except for one thing I learned a few weeks later at a wedding. My son just so happened to be roommates with one of the part time workers at rway and to my disbelief after tipping generously to the owner Chris to be spread amongst the workers I came to find out by my son's friend that he keeps it . I was completely upset because these guys really deserved it for there flawless work . R-way moving was incredible. I was braced for a stressful day. Shockingly, it wasn't stressful at all. The crew arrived at 8, just after I got my kids off for school (as planned) and by 1 pm, the R-way crew was gone, with furniture perfectly in place, beds set up, and rugs down. When my kids came home from school at 2:30, their beds were made and toys were in their rooms at the new house. It was seamless. Anything the crew deemed to be particularly important was placed in boxes with red labels marked "must find." They were also just a great group of people-- they are all clearly friendly with each other and they managed to demonstrate skill, efficiency and humor throughout-- lightening the mood on a day when my family really needed it. I had to move my stuff ,as I sold my house in Maspeth....I wanted to get a HONEST moving company as the one who moved us from Brooklyn were CROOKS and STOLE many boxes !! I asked around and a few people told me to give R Way Movers a try as they recommended them............the crew arrived the morning of the move and worked so FAST !! it took me days to pack a wall that was filled with boxes from floor to ceiling.......the 9 members moved ALL the boxes in 20 MINUTES !!! I am late in writing this review, but I told the owner, Chris Rooney (a retired NYC firefighter and dad), that I would be happy to shout his praises from the rooftops. First of all, this is personal service, with Chris being at every job and his amazing employees being exceptionally polite and careful. Chris will personally come to your place to look at your belongings and give you an accurate estimate of the cost. He moved us from NYC to the suburbs last fall and they did a superb job. They not only moved our 2 br apartment, but a few days earlier, they even picked up a ton of stuff that we had in storage outside the city to load it onto the truck ahead of time. On moving day, he must have brought 15 guys with him, some were packing, some were moving between the apartment and truck, and others were loading the truck. Our 1500 sq ft apartment was packed and loaded into 1.5 trucks in LESS THAN 2 hours. You cannot ask for an easier experience than that. On top of that, his crew (made up of his main team as well as FDNY firefighters) were incredibly personable and thoughtful in the way they packed and unpacked our belongings. I mean, these guys took their shoes off when entering our home when we didn't even need them to--just nice, friendly people who also happen to work their butts off carrying very heavy furniture into homes, up staircases, and negotiating tight turns--all with absolutely no complaints--they joked with each other and seemed to have fun, too! While many other moving companies in NYC may be less expensive, you have to think about this in terms of value--how much do you value your time and your belongings? I always think about that triangle of three items: good, fast and cheap. You only get to pick two. Pick the right two and hire Chris Rooney and R-Way movers.
