In April of 2025 we had a water leak in the apartment we rent destroy our upstairs master bath and downstairs kitchen. That was nothing compared to the damage done by Paul Davis Restoration of Metro NY/NJ - the restoration team selected by our landlord's insurance company Liberty Mutual. The New York / New Jersey franchise showed a clear failure to adhere to basic minimums of care and their negligence throughout the process. We were lucky enough to document throughout this ordeal. Very professional, thorough, fast, friendly. We did 2 major repair jobs through Insurance with Paul Davis Restoration. All the staff are very professional. 1 was basement sewer flooding, which had the HEPA cleanup and a wall repair. Another was a large wall repair. Looked like new when they finished. They moved all the basement storage boxes out of the way and back. They threw out all the damaged items, and rebuilt some large platforms that are made of wood. read more

I had a pipe freeze and burst. My basement and all its contents was under 1.5 ft of water. The basement was partially finished and contained 30 years of accumulated stuff. Had to do some repairs because of a plumbing leak a few months ago. Initially, I was happy with this company chosen by my insurance adjuster. However, things went wrong after the remediation was completed and the restoration phase began. My contact used manipulation and shady techniques to pressure me into committing to work before the insurance company had agreed to their exorbitant estimate. Then the work, which did look very pretty before you looked too closely actually had serious flaws: the ceiling fixture (which in the estimate was supposed to be removed and later re-installed) was never removed and actually PLASTERED INTO THE CEILING, also an expensive loft bed (which had previously been disassembled to allow the work to proceed in the space) was put together backward and without securing the guard rails, requiring me to spend a weekend disassembling and reassembling it myself after they left. Absolutely no response from company management when I tried to complain. My insurance company agrees with me that this company should not be used in the future. You shouldn't use them either. read more

Hi Friends! Many of you might know my apartment was destroyed earlier this year (2018) by a steam pipe explosion located right under my first floor kitchen. My wife and I narrowly escaped with our emergency GO BAG.. before the entire apartment was uninhabitable. We stayed in the Flushing Sheraton hotel nearly 2 months while our apartment went through the painfully slow process of being approved by insurance and then rebuilt. After everything was over, the remnants of construction and destruction left off coating of toxic dust and debris over every inch of my apartment. My belongings and antiques were nearly ruined. Paul Davis restoration was wonderful, their employees arrived promptly and started work immediately, cleaning all vertical surfaces. A few hours later, my apartment has been returned to the beautiful healthy home .. I have not seen it look so beautiful in many months before the steam pipe explosion. UNFORTUNATELY.. after suggesting Paul Davis Restoration and arranging for the appointment, for some undetermined reason my Allstate insurance refused to pay these fine hard-working people for their work. Repeated emails and phone calls to my Allstate adjuster by myself and my attorney were never responded to. Still haven't heard a word 6 months later. As the matter is under Court litigation, payment to these nice folks was delayed. I felt bad..as these folks did a great job and my INSURANCE company who suggested them and set up the appointment, then failed to fulfill their legal obligations and pay them. Paul Davis or myself were not at fault at all.. and their representative was so kind to offer me a discount, as I decided to do the right thing and pay them myself. Rather than have them wait for the outcome of the Court proceedings. My attorney continues to pursue repayment in this matter. I would not hesitate to use Paul Davis in the future, as they were just WONDERFUL. There WILL be a review of Allstate HOME insurance in the future.. who refused to compensate Paul Davis for their services.. that they arranged.. I used Paul Davis for a cleanup of a disconnected sewer line. The main line. It was a mess, horrible. They arrived for initial assessment on time and set up an action plan extremely quick.They arrived on time and ready to work. I contacted Paul Davis for a mold evaluation for a rental property. Jason Peters Mitigation Manager came to my rental property to inspect it for mold after my tenant paid for an estimate from a different company. The company hired by my tenant didn't test for mold/moisture only a visual inspection was done. He was unaware that the other company's estimate was for over $ 4,000 worth of remediation and additional monies for HVAC cleaning. Jason was professional, courteous, and detailed in his inspection carefully going through each area of the home. The inspection showed no sign of mold - he suggested HVAC and vent cleaning. Let me say Paul Davis Restoration was incredible. To be more specific the Adjusters Jen and Frank were incredible. What happened was my mother had a flood in her basement from a broken supply line the basement was destroyed. Paul Davis was brought in by the plumber who fixed the line, I didn't know what to expect, I was very happily surprised. My mom is in her 80s my father had just went into a Nurseing home a week after the initial flood and then my sister was diagnosed with terminal cancer so that was situations occurring at the house. JEN was a GODSEND she was sweet, caring, kind, understanding I can't say enough about her. Jen orchestrated everything as they dried out the basement to pack out, Contractor, Electrician, plumber etc. Frank was also a great help. The foreman for the restoration was Oscar again absolutely incredible man easy to work with tried to met all our expectations, great work . Tony the flooring guy was also Terrific. Paul Davis was recommended by my insurance company to restore our basement after a flood. The project manager, John N., was absolutely terrific to work with & very professional. There were a few hiccups in the beginning but I felt like he was willing to fix & work with me on what needed to be done. Even after I signed off on the work, I found something that needed to be redone & he is sending someone in to do the touch up. Flooring work was guaranteed for a year. Because I work full-time, I was very concerned about having my kids & my dog (who was post-surgery!) with the crew. We used a lockbox for them to get in. Mike Rizzo and his team did a superb job every step of the way, from giving us a highly itemized estimate, to demolition and cleaning. Every single member of Mike's team was highly professional and courteous, giving us constant progress reports and promptly answering all our questions. They were also incredibly efficient, completing a job in 3 days we expected would take 4-5. And they recommended a hygienist/mold inspector for clearance who is one of the deans of the field, and gave us expert advice on how to avoid future mold problems. Did not have a good experience. My insurance company recommended them to remediate mold in a closet. The man that came was very nice and I was hopeful. Then I saw the proposal which went into far more"remediation" than the mold report indicated was needed. And, they were more than three times the cost of two other quotes. The man who came to my house did not tell me it was not him who would come on the scheduled date.Two people showed up on the scheduled date without business cards so I don't know who they were and if they really worked for Paul Davis. Even more concerning, they came without scrubbers which are mandatory when containing mold. Honestly, I don't know if they were going to contain without scrubbing, or if it was a fake appointment and they were not planning to work that day...just stop by to be able to say they kept the appointment. Who knows, I wouldn't let them in. Wound up using Consolidated Environmental and I am so happy with them. read more

I rarely write reviews but I feel I have an obligation to warn others not to use this company. I have never worked with a contractor that was so unreliable and unprofessional. I hired them for a job in May 2017 that was supposed to take 3 days. During the middle of day one they text me to tell me they are done which made no sense.  I was working so I expected them to show up and do what was needed unsupervised but that was mistake number one (or rather mistake number 2 as hiring them was the first mistake). I pointed out several major things that were not done and could not be done in one day. Also they billed me for 3 days of labor but only spent 1/2 day at my house. After reminding them of all they were supposed to do, I was notified they had to order some things and would get back to me. Months and months go by and I hear nothing. Finally I get a message about ordering my new gutters and a shutter but that it's a special order due to the color. Fine. Order it. More months go by with no word from them and now we're in 2018. Still no shutter, no gutter but they are asking me for the final payment with no adjustment to the bill for the incomplete work and all the time wasted with no word and no resolution to this matter. I was told repeatedly "we did extra work for you" instead which I can see no evidence of nor did I request. They indicated they came one day without notice and changed by gutters but didn't tell me. Of course anyone can see it's the same gutter I've always had. Ultimately, I decided to pay them a reduced amount for the little work I can see that they did but I know I overpaid for nothing. Sometimes the money is worth it so that I never have to deal with this horrible company again. I would strongly recommend a different contractor unless you can watch every move they make. Otherwise, they will not complete work and provide unsatisfactory service that will take 1.5 years to resolve. Use them at your own risk or learn from my mistake. read more
