Vero has taken that corner lot, in what is probably a turn-of-the-century house, and has created a phenomenal kaffehaus. It is built to enjoy some of the beautiful Oregon weather, and even withstand some of the rainy Eugene weather. The inside is generally sprinkled with students, seeking quiet moments of academic focus or other pursuits, and the outside is conversational and comfortable. Oh, and the coffee. I'm always one to try the house brew, and Vero is always ready with a freshly brewed cup. Their latte skills are pretty solid, and their espresso is strong and finishes nicely. I find the real hook to be that their coffee is far better than corporate Seattle, and costs significantly less. Sure, you pay a pretty hefty price for some of their breakfast or lunch fare (think $15/sammich), but their coffee is way competitive and their service is outstanding. I'm there for the coffee in the atmosphere; anything else is a pure bonus, and that includes the outstanding patio. Parking is on the street, because you're close to downtown, so you're on your own. But pretty much half of the patrons are either walking or riding a bike, so it's easy to handle. Pricing for the drinks is very fair, if not advantageous, and the value far outstrips what you pay, anyway. To me, Vero is as good as it gets for Eugene coffee, and there is no shortage of competition. Get out and enjoy!

The staff was super friendly and I loved the organic options for alternative milks, coffees, teas and smoothies. They also have granola bowls available which I enjoyed, and a few pastries. My matcha was made with oatmilk and was really good, not too sweet. I heard there's a cat around but unfortunately I didn't see it :( Another huge bonus about this cafe is that they are open until 10pm on weekdays! This might become a new evening study spot for me! I love the decor, the rugs on the wall are great. Are they selling them? Not sure, but they were very luxurious and exotic feeling. My friend and I didn't have to wait in line and both ordered a tea to go - mine a mango black tea, and hers a rooibos tea. $4.75 each, and we added a $1 tip. Even though the teas were to go, we managed to snag an open couch in to the left of where orders are taken. For two people, it felt somewhat private and out of the way - perfect for us to chat. You order the drinks, and then go to the far end to wait for them to be made and presented. The wait was less than 5 minutes. The draw back to this visit was the temperature of the tea. Both my friend and I love piping hot drinks, and usually have poor experiences with drinks being lukewarm which is awful. However, this tea was scalding hot. We are both tea drinkers, and boiling water straight off the stove cools down faster than these teas did. It was a minimum of 10 minutes before we tried to take a sip, and I still burnt my tongue, they were still that hot. It just made it much less enjoyable to sit in the space, chatting, with scalding teas that were too hot to enjoy after a normal amount of time. Steeping time is 4 minutes, which is standard. Normally, at about 5-6 minutes you're ready to drink, even if you're blowing on it a little. This was a 10+ minute wait for the drinks to cool down, just to end up burning my tongue anyways. And I repeat, we are not shrinking violets - we like hot teas, there was something super wrong with the temperature of these. Overall, I would go back, but next time, I'm going to say something if the tea comes out that hot again. I'm hoping this was a fluke.
