Although I do not come to Chinatown often anymore but when we do, I come with my daughter! This place is split into two parts. One part is like a regular supermarket with limited items like marinated meat and seafood and some pantry stables like noodles. The marinated meats, you buy by pound and you can cook them at home during the week. This is very convenient and takes the prep work out of the way! My personal favorite is the marinated sole. All I have to do is cook rice, steam the fish with ginger, then add scallion oil - weekday dinner is done, just like that! My husband loves the marinated meats, they are delicious and perfect for meal preps. The second part of the place is what Deluxe is famous for - the food market, it is a combination of hot Chinese dishes over rice, stir-fry noodles, bakery, roasted meats, cold marinated meats, and sushi. Now, I must admit that the food items here taste decent and very affordable but do not expect it to be the best. It does the job and feeds the family, especially in this economy! We like the Fried Salt and Pepper Pork Chops and it seems like it is one of the most popular items here as I see them refill it every time I come here. This means they have a lot of variety. In previous trips I've had to look for fresh lemongrass and galangal. On my most recent trip I needed pandan leaves, which they carry in abundance! The owner is a very nice guy who is happy to answer any questions you may have. I recommend bringing cash to pay. I'm glad Bangkok Center Grocery has lasted over the years.
