Best food in Madrid by far - we booked this as our special dinner in advance for our trip. The service was impeccable, the food was fresh, and the wine was excellent. A few reasons why I would only give 4 stars: 1. They allow smoking outside. I understand in Europe this is common, but for a restaurant at this caliber I do not understand why it is allowed. We had to move seats unfortunately - originally we had an awesome spot outside but the table next to us was heavily smoking and blowing the smoke into the outdoor fans which kept coming right at us. For a fancy and excellent dining experience I do not think that should be allowed. The outside is gorgeous but I won't be risking it and sitting out next time for that reason. 2. My full glass of wine was knocked over by the manager when they came to check on us at the end of our meal. They lifted the menus from the table and the full glass split all over my dad. They actually tried to charge me for the glass until my dad said something when we got the bill. He was drenched in red wine. read more

An absolutely gorgeous Italian restaurant to go to in Madrid. I recommend coming here for an anniversary, birthday, or some sort of celebration. The outdoor patio of Numa Pompilio is one of the most romantic and prettiest outdoor patios I've seen. It's so pretty, you need to pay to sit out there!! The restaurant inside was super luxurious as well. The food here was incredible, even the starts of mortadella and assorted breads (also costs money even though they just bring it to you). We got burrata, different pastas, and tiramisu that they make in front of you. This was truly an incredible experience. It is expensive but it's worth it for the experience and quality of food & drink. The service was impeccable too, they were super attentive and professional. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice place with a majestic atmosphere and kind service but why am I paying almost €7 for a bottle of water that I didn't even get to finish (they prematurely removed it from my table without asking). Additionally, why is there a 10% penalty charge for sitting on the terrace? Like I previously said, this place is very nice and majestic. The drinks were perfectly balanced and the entrees as well as the desserts were delicious. The portions are small but leave room for dessert. Speaking of dessert, they prepare the tiramisu table side, which is pretty neat. The staff is very attentive and friendly. They speak both English, Spanish, and French to facilitate your experience. The entire place, inside and outside, has a very beautiful, highbrow aesthetic that I have yet to experience in Madrid. The downside is the price. Main entrees are €20-45 a plate with drinks being around €18 a pop. I'm not saying the food isn't worth it, I'm just saying compared to the rest of Madrid's culinary economy it's way over priced. Overall, beautiful and delicious but for me one and done due to the price. Still, though, it's a great experience. The pompous sommelier would not let me speak to the manager about the discrepancy and said only it was a misunderstanding and I must pay. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere on the terrace was great as well. They offer a service where they keep your bottle of wine off the table. We bought a bottle of wine, but they definitely gave it to someone else. When I asked about it, they said we had finished it, but we only had one small refill and never saw the bottle being emptied. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and it was a beautiful evening! We sat outside on the terrace, which was truly magical. Lots of trees and string lights makes a perfect romantic setting. The service was fine, not spectacular though. To start, we got the veal which came with some pasta. We split it and it was a very large portion for both of us. It was very tender and yummy. We had seen the pasta in the cheese wheel on Instagram, so we had to order it as our main. They show it to you on the table and then they plate it. It was delicious and I'm happy I got to experience pasta served like that. But, I'm sure there are better pastas on the menu. We also got zucchini flowers which I thought were good, but my boyfriend was not impressed. They were lightly fried and cheesy, so it kind of takes away the flavor. They kinda taste like fancy pizza rolls. We also got wine, which was moderately expensive but very good. We ended the night with the tiramisu. It was delicious! They come to the table and make it right in front of you. Stacking the madeleines and cream, pouring espresso, and dusting the coco powder. It was great tiramisu, but it had too few madeleines in relation to the cream. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a date night treat! Great location, that's as much as I can say about the restaurant, since we were seated almost on top of the window and we didn't get a chance to actually see the interior of the restaurant. I had made an online reservation but afterwards, I placed a phone call to the restaurant and I was assured we would be seated in the dining room. From the moment we checked in with the hostesses, we felt their snarky and dismissive attitude. The older lady staring with them- owner/GM- was probably one of the rudest people I've ever encountered in my life. Condescending, haughty, indignant and unwelcoming. Our waiter was very sweet and professional though the poor guy was left completely alone to deal with his sections and clearly needed more help. Courses were rushed. Wine and food did not come together so there was quite a wait time in between courses and bottles of wine. The food was decent - maybe a bit above average - but not worth the exorbitant prices and poor treatment. Our waiter excepted,the overall service of the restaurant is SO POOR, that we asked for complaint forms. We were totally mistreated and when you're paying an over €400 check, you expect at least a friendly, welcoming environment. That is not the experience you will find here. Needless to say, we will never come back and will also make sure that our friends and people in the entertainment industry in London and New York where we live know about it and don't get taken in by this poorly managed trap. read more

One of the cutest and most romantic restaurants you'll find in madrid. Without a doubt the food was outstanding. We seat outside in the patio and even though the temperature that night was cold they made sure they kept us warm with their beautiful fireplace. You could request which room you would prefer to seat. I honestly think the patio it's the best one. Please make sure to try their fresh bread with spicy olive oil and their tiramisu it's a must since they make it right in front of you! We enjoyed the Burratta and cold veal appetizers with sweet wasabi. The Pecorino wheel pasta was tasty. The black pasta with skid and shrimp was a bit tasteless and oily. The cannelloni were minimal. The place is very handsome, and the wine list is spectacular- a little pricey however. Not only was the food delicious, but accommodating to all the vegans, vegetarians, picky eaters, food lovers, and those with paleo diets that make up my big family.
