Found this truck at the SOMA food truck park recently. They have a great variety of Empanadas, including VEGAN empanadas, which was great. I tried the 3 Vegan options Kale and Butternut Squash, Corn and Peppers ( which had a vegan cheese kind of an ingredient as well) and Roasted Eggplant. All of them were tasty and my favorite was probably the "Corn and Peppers". The 4th vegan option was a spinach empanada. They also have sweet / dessert empanadas. The price for 1 empanada is $6 which is a little high I feel, but the price is discounted for bulk purchases. If you buy 2 it is $5.50 / each and $5/ each if you buy 3. So then it becomes a good deal. Glad I got to try it.

I first found out about Nucha Empanada at the SOMA Food Truck event. Nucha offers many different flavored empanadas (sweet and savory), some of the favorites are the ham and cheese, corn and peppers, mushroom, spicy beef, onions, and cheese. Some of the sweet flavors include pineapple, apple, peach cobbler, and blueberry. The empanadas are shaped like big, fried, crispy potstickers. I ordered the apple and the spicy beef which were both very delicious! My spicy beef came with a small sample of green sauce to put on it, but honestly, I didn't even need the sauce. The empanadas tasted great just warmed up and was very filling. I plan to try more of their empanadas and come out of my comfort zone to try out flavors I normally wouldn't. The prices are a little steep coming at $4. When I want to treat myself to a $4 empanada, i'll come to Nucha's!

Health score on yelp says 100/100. At the food truck was roughly 85. As another yelper noted, the food was microwaved... I've been sick for the last day and this empanada was all I could tie it to. I had 1 spicy beef and 1 Spanish chicken. Flavor wasn't bad, but not worth having again..

    Nothing-ness.

I just ordered Nucha Empanadas through a food delivery app, and I am thoroughly disappointed. I usually never stray from El Sur's empanadas, but I figured I'd try this place out as it's down the street from my house! BIG MISTAKE. I got 6 of the ham and cheese empanadas, which are called the Parisien at El Sur, and this was like a 0/10 for me. How do I even describe it? It was dry, definitely reheated, and to call it a ham and cheese empanada is a joke. THERE WAS NO FILLING. And the teeny tiny parts with filling?? HAD NO FLAVOR. See picture. I'm not lying. I literally just ate half a dozen dry, empty, bland empanadas. Never buying from here again. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. How is this place still in business?! Go to El Sur. Thank me later.

My friend had a get together at Spark Social at ordered empanadas for the group. They packaged them in pizza boxes which made them easy to carry to the party area. Of all the flavors, my favorites were the Spanish chicken and the mushroom gorgonzola. The spicy meat ones were good but a tad too spicy for me. We also has the Alfajores cookies for desserts which were both great, though the chocolate covered ones tasted were better because what's *not* better chocolate-covered?

I tried three Nucha Empanadas recently when they were located at Soma StrEat Food Park, and overall it was less than impressive. You'll pay $5 per empanada {or $9 for 2, $12 for 3 and $20 for four} which are very much a snack food or addition to a meal, but as much as I eat them, I can never convince myself that they're a fully well-rounded or satisfying meal. Overall, I though the fillings were lackluster in flavor and in punch, in addition to them being a little sparse. This was my least favorite food truck when visiting the food park.

They've popped up in the Streat Park recently. on a warm sunny day I strolled through to find a small snack. Having one of the bigger booths in the back I opted for your traditional beef. Wish it was a little hotter but the flavour, seasoning and spice level were right. GUy working was super happy and friendly. Perhaps one of the quickest purchase to stomach paths Ive experienced.

It is so hard to find authentic Argentinian food--but the beef empanadas here taste just like my grandmas recipe! So happy to have found this small booth at spark sf. Yes, they microwave them (do you know how long it takes to make fresh empanadas?!?), and when I first saw that I was concerned, but after tasting them, I did not care. They were filled with meat, delicious, and I went back to order more :) The empanadas may seem expensive, but get a group and order together! (The more you order, the cheaper/per empanada).

Pecan Pie – 3 stars. Good buttery, crisp crust. Dessert filling quite dry, not too impressive. Sat dinner 2016-10-01
    Ziyan C.

Their Pecan Pie had a buttery soft crust with a good amount of crisp. The filling was less impressive - it was dry and there wasn't too much of it. I should've stuck with their specialty and gotten a meat empanada! 3 stars.

Open air, a mix of food trucks, people hanging out, dogs everywhere, and that easy San Francisco energy where you can show up however you are and it fits. It never feels like a production, just a good place to land. We have eaten our way through a decent chunk of the trucks at this point, and that is half the fun. One day it is something messy and indulgent, the next it is lighter, but it always hits. Grabbing a drink, finding a spot at the picnic tables, and slowly settling in as the place fills up is kind of the rhythm. It is social without being overwhelming, lively without being chaotic. What keeps us coming back is how consistent it feels in the best way. It is easy, flexible, and always a good time whether you stay for an hour or lose an entire afternoon there. It is the kind of spot that turns into a routine before you even realize it, and honestly, we are not mad about it.

Beyond that, the food and drinks are all food truck based. They are all quite good, and there's a wide variety of items. This also means a good variety for folks with different dietary needs, because they are mostly picking their own food. I have always enjoyed my time here, whether it's on company dime or if I'm just hanging out with friends. I do wish that there are more heaters around for the colder days but that's just life in the bay! It can be kind of cold and foggy all seasons here, so if you have a solid group of folks I'd recommend reserving a spot with a fire pit. One more note: parking can be tough. You either have to circle around for street parking, or rideshare here.

They need some kind of dipping sauce or something for it. Seasoning was not evenly spread out so some parts were saltier on the skin. Lots of herbs like thyme and rosemary. Just too bad the meat didn't stay juicy. 3.5/5 ROTISSERIE PORCHETTA SANDWICH ~ skin was crispy and burnt, so it was bitter yet crunchy. Pork was tender, but I didn't taste much of the jam. I did not like the bitter burnt skin. I personally thought it threw the flavor off. If it wasn't bitter, it would have scored higher. I always enjoy bread toasted when having a sandwich. Sadly, they don't toast it. My friend loves this sandwich and told me the skin wasn't supposed to be crunchy and burnt! So I'm assuming this wasn't typical. 3/5 The 4 of us shared the whole chicken and split the porchetta sandwich. But hearing that the sandwich wasn't made correctly this time around, I'm compelled to give it another try in the future.

There were plenty of craft vendors and food vendors, organized space-wise by category: craft vendors were closer to the entrance, food vendors were farther in. My favorites from the craft side were the amount of curated clothes sellers!! Soooo many cute jackets, dresses, tops, skirts, shoes, and bags. There were also a couple music stages playing music -- I liked that they had enough space between them so the sound didn't overlap when you were trying to listen to the artist(s) at either stage. The stage in the back was more of a DJ set, playing house music, and the stage in front had live music -- they had a full band and even a group playing an Irish jig earlier in the day, which was very fun. There were plenty of alcohol stations all around -- in the back, in the front, lining the whole perimeter of the event. There was also a good variety of crafts and a solid selection of food vendors. My only wish is that there had been more sweet options because there were tons of savory options. But overall, everything was very diverse, looked great, and was interesting and unique -- you had Nepali food, Indonesian food, Indian food, Mexican food, etc. -- very ethnically diverse. Overall, I think this is a great event and opportunity to spend time with loved ones (fun for adults and families alike!), grab a bite, and support local businesses! The friend I came with said the market has grown so much since before the pandemic, so it's lovely to see the community show up and show out for this. I hope OTG and WCC continue to host this market! Capelo's Barbecue: My friend and I ordered from Capelo's Barbecue's food truck. We got the 3-meat plate with beef brisket, pork ribs, and BBQ smoked chicken. First -- that line was hella long. We waited about 30 minutes (not including the wait after for the food), but it was fun since I had my friend to talk to. The layout of the menu and pricing were quite clear, so it was easy to decide what we wanted while we waited in line. Also, no dedicated seating area for the truck (night market!). The meats: beef brisket and pork ribs were an extra $2 each on the meat plate. The beef brisket was my favorite -- super smoky and so tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth, but not mushy. Just the perfect texture. Honestly, I wish it had a little more salt to add another layer of flavor besides just meat and smoke, but I still enjoyed the heck out of that brisket. The pork ribs were solid -- not the most amazing ribs I've ever had, but good flavor and texture. They weren't fall-off-the-bone tender, but they had a satisfying chew. I had to put some effort into tearin' the flesh from the bone with my teeth (as you do with ribs), and I liked that. The BBQ smoked chicken? Honestly, nothing special. It was a good, neutral option compared to the brisket and ribs, but the main flavor I picked up was black pepper. Solid chicken breast, but nothing memorable. Even the skin was meh. For the sides, we chose the baked beans and mac and cheese. The baked beans were wonderfully sweet and savory -- they paired perfectly with the BBQ. The mac and cheese was good and worked well with everything, but it wasn't particularly special on its own. Altogether, I think we paid around $32 for the plate. If I hadn't been splitting it with another person, honestly, I don't know if it would've been worth it -- but it was good in the moment. Quite tasty overall.

The burrito came with pinto beans and rice. I forgot to ask if I could substitute black beans. The burrito wasn't too salty, and the beef steak was just okay. I also think the $10.25 Carne Asada burrito is a good deal. At other taquerias, carne asada is often an additional charge or the burrito costs more when you choose steak. I usually ask for a receipt even when paying cash. When I checked my receipt, I noticed I was charged an additional $0.25 for "Bolsa To Go" (bag) even though I was dining in and didn't receive a to-go bag. It's not about the $0.25, but I think it's important for a business to have integrity and charge customers only for what they actually receive. I hope this isn't something being charged to other dine-in customers as well. Overall, I would come back to try a different meat, but next time I'll make sure to clearly say dine-in and check my receipt to make sure I wasn't charged for a to-go bag.
