I have my eye exam here , doctor lower down my eye glasses degree that we both agree it will make my eye feel more comfortable without any soreness or heaviness, but when I got my glasses I found out that I can not see things clearly enough, my husband wear glasses, too. the object not too far away, he can see it very clear, but I can't, since I am expecting my newborn baby coming within one month, I decide that I need to go back and raise my eyeglass degree back. and today I went back to the store and explain my condition, everyone is very nice and help me to pick a right degree that helps me see clear and feel comfortable in the meantime. Went here with my friend to get her polarized sunglasses for driving. The staff was very helpful! 1) When we told them our budget, they pointed out which frames were within range. 2) They helped us compare frames to find a frame that would be comfortable for her. 3) They spent a long time helping my friend figure out her prescription. Her glasses were old and the prescription from the optometrist she gave them was outdated. Bonus! They spent more than half an hour tweaking the prescription so she wouldn't get headaches while wearing them (something that happened whenever she wore her reading glasses.) 3) When we later explained that she wouldn't be able to pick the glasses up personally, they tweaked the frames beforehand so they wouldn't need to adjust them later. I bought the brand name frame "silhouette" with the lens from NU. Within the warranty period (less than one year), the frame needed to be adjusted (minor). I do not want to adjust myself since the frame is within the warranty. To my surprise, the staff member "DAVID" spit out a lot sh*t. Even it only takes him a couple of minutes. Dr. Ma was pretty nice. She gave me a refund and apologized for the miscommunication. The customer service from her was pretty good, and the fitting was through, I suppose. Be careful before u sign anything in this place!!! I went there today to get prescription contact lenses, but it was my first time there so I needed to register for a eye check up. I signed a few documents without reading what it says, and after the check up, one of the staff told me that the check up will cost 85 dollars! And it was written on the paper I signed! What the heck! She totally didn't tell me they were going to charge 85 dollars before I sign the paper! I just went with my natural instinct and I signed it cause I believe nothing unjust like that will ever happen to me! They were totally ripping me off and trying to trick me into buying their lenses! "Good thing" the 85 dollars can be used as a deposit in their store and their lenses weren't ridiculously expensive. So I paid 85 dollars with my debit card but still feel like a dumbass because I could've called the police! I am still deciding whether to get their lenses or walk in to ask for my 85 dollars back or not! read more

I was here a few months ago. The customer services were great. I walked in one evening after work to ask questions about the eye exam. The sales associate that helped me was very helpful and answered all my questions. A few weeks later I got an exam done and again they were really nice and patient with me. It used to be my favorite place. However, during my most recent visit, I was helped by 2 employees (one guy and one girl) who had no idea what they were doing. They gave me the wrong advice and kept asking me to buy more expensive products and add on stuff because "it's good for you." When I asked how the products/ protection were different, they had ZERO idea, just "it's good for you." Later on, when I came back to pick up my glasses, they asked me to pay $40 more?!!! I said I would like to return the glasses altogether because they had no idea what they were selling me and they dropped the $40 charge immediately. Don't waste your time and money here! read more

Nu Eyes is a VSP in-network vendor. Opened 2 years ago. If you're like me and appreciate an English-speaking and polite staff (a rare find in Flushing), this is your place. Diana, the Doc was attentive, took the time to ask about my contacts usage and provided thoughtful recommendations. Her staff was helpful, and patient. They happily showed virtually every pair of glasses and sunglasses to my extremely particular husband. Terrible terrible service by the front desk. Been going here for a few years given they take my company insurance and the doctor is always nice and knowledgeable. I have had it dealing with the front desk sales staff which are just rude and extremely unprofessional every year. They will refuse to provide service and use the excuse of computer system is down so they don't have to process insurance. Things works magically when the owner/manager is there, but when they are not, the staff are lazy and unwiling to help. Assuming they do so because they make commissions on non insurance patients (up selling them frames) while giving bad attitude to anyone using company vision insurance. They will lie about insurance company's system is down, which I called my self and confirm it's not. Despite the doctor being good, the front desk staff is really causing them business and I will not be returning again. read more

Throughout the years I have been to many eye-glass shops but this one definitely takes the cake! Excellent customer service with prices that are there to not rip you off. These guys do not play with numbers and they provide excellent service. Most eye wear places will double or triple their frame prices and then give you a "discount". If you compare with other places, especially in Queens you will note this difference. Also, after my eye exam I was told to wear my new pseudo lenses for 10 minutes to see if it is tight for me. First time here and I came with a friend. The eye exam was pretty quick with Dr. Yip who is friendly and nice. The staff at the front were also very friendly. I spent a very long time trying frames and the young guy (with round glasses) at the front was very patient with me. Legit I felt like I was there for a good hour picking frames and no complaints from the staff. They and the doctor were also giving me suggestions and advice on whether the frames I had were right for me or not. Good service in my book. After insurance, my Coach frames and contact lenses exams came out to be a little bit over $200, which isn't bad. It's comparable to prices that I had been given in Chinatown, Manhattan for my other frames. Wish there were more frames to choose from though (they had an okay selection). read more

I went in for a basic pair of glasses to correct a slight astigmatism and walked out with a nightmare. After 10 visits, I still don't have a pair of glasses that don't give me headaches when I wear them. This is my 5th pair of prescription eyeglasses and I have never had to return to any of my previous ophthalmologist even once after receiving my eyeglasses, much less 10 times at Nu Eyes. The excuses and runaround they gave me when I tried to explain the glasses gave me headaches was frustrating and a waste of time. There isn't enough space in this review for me to detail all the things they put me through so I'll keep it brief. Visit 1 - Dr. Ma isn't getting consistent results from my eye exam. We agree to do it another day. Visit 2 - Same problem as the first. But she finalizes the prescription anyway and have the optician make my eyeglasses. Visit 3 - Pick up eyeglasses, they are giving me headaches and depth perception problems. I suspect the prescription is wrong and go to a different medical eye doctor, Dr. Chia Der Wu, to examine my eyes to figure out whether its a problem with my eyes or the eyeglasses. The eye doctor explains to me the prescription is way off. Visit 4 - Immediately go back to Nu Eyes and ask them to replace the lenses with the prescription given at the second eye doctor. --In the meantime, I order another pair of eyeglasses online with the new prescription from Dr. Wu. Just in case. Visit 5 - Pick up eyeglasses again at Nu Eyes. Same problem. Headaches, depth perception problems, blurriness. But I'm told to bring it home and try it for a few days and I'll get used to it. --Several days later, the eyeglasses from Nu Eyes are still making me dizzy and giving me perception problems. The eyeglasses I ordered online arrive and they are perfect. None of the headaches or problems like I had with the pair from Nu Eyes even though they are suppose to be the same prescription. This is when I notice the anti reflective coating was missing on the left lens and the left lens was way thicker than my right lens in the pair from Nu Eyes. My online pair and my previous 4 eyeglasses didn't exhibit this variation or lack of uniformity. Visit 6 - Go to Nu Eyes and tell them I'm still having headaches and perception problems. They refuse to help me until I point out I never had any problems with any ophthalmologist before or any of my previous 4 pairs of eyeglasses. That the glasses I ordered online with the same prescription didn't have these problems. They reluctantly agree to change the left lens to match the hue on the right and told me I worried too much. They told me I can choose the lens myself but they didn't have it available and told me to come back another time. Visit 7 - They didn't order the lenses, told me to come back another time. Visit 8 - None of the lenses they show me has the same coating as my right lens. They tell me they will order more and to come back another time Visit 9 - Same problem, none of the lens match. Maybe they just showed me the same lenses from last time but I'm tired of spending time and money to come back here. I just pick one and crossed my fingers that it will solve my problems. Visit 10 - Pick up the eyeglasses and of course, nothing's changed. Did they replace them at all? Who knows, but I'm tired of coming back. I take the eyeglasses and accept my losses. Today - I bring the Nu-Eye glasses to a different store and have them examine it. I've held off on writing a review throughout this 3 month ordeal until I had proof from a third doctor. They verify the prescription is wrong. Here are the promised and actual values. OD: Promised - (-1.25)x90 | Actual (-1.00)x90 | (Cylindrical)xAxis OS: Promised - (-1.75)x90 | Actual (-1.50)x80 I don't normally leave bad reviews. That is clearly evident by the fact that this is my first review on yelp. People have a bad day and businesses have a bad day. When I receive bad service, I just move on and spend my money somewhere else. What I received at Nu Eyes was an experience that jeopardized my eye health. A store that went out of their way to give me the run around and refused to accept any responsibility. I've accepted my losses but maybe this will someone out there considering Nu Eyes to avoid the losses to begin with. Beware of Ripoff Went to Nu Eyes because this was a network covered provider. The sales lady proceeded to take down my information, without showing me the frame, background on my current glasses, or out of pocket costs. Good thing I stopped her. 1) She recommended one of the most expensive coating without getting into what it is, what are the other grades available and jotted down $100 on the costs without explanations. 2) The selection was extremely limited. 3) She estimated $300 out of pocket costs WITH insurance on a $230 frame. Isn't that ridiculous? If you want a better glass shopping experience, and not purchase anything against your will or at least want to understand what you're paying, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Bottom line: Went to Better Sight Vision Center. I spent $270 on a the same brand that was $335. Much friendlier staff and knowledgeable optometrist (although I'm not sure if it's relatively better since I didn't go through with the process). read more

Went in to get both new glasses and contacts. For those of you who are also planning on getting both at the same time, wear your contacts in for the follow up! I didn't think it through and wore my glasses in, so I had to go back an extra time. The doctor was such a cool person! (I forgot her name, sorry! Maybe Dr. Ma?) She was very easy to communicate with, and was very patient with me, answering all my questions. My previous visit somewhere else involved a very pushy/impatient doctor, so I was just happy to have someone that was going to let me take my time. The staff here are very friendly and polite. It was Crystal who helped me pick my frames, and even though I took a while, super indecisive, she gave me her thoughts on which one looked best with my face, and I ended picking these square frames which I currently love :) She also talked me into getting the special coating they offer, since I'm usually in front of a computer screen. She also helped me decide if using my insurance on my glasses or contacts would be the better option. When I went back in to pick up some extra contact lenses, the staff made sure to double check that I was getting the right ones, and it's just nice to see that they're always careful. If you're looking for a new place to get your frames/glasses, definitely give this place a shot! read more

Have been going to this place for over 5 yrs, things have gone down hill in these 2 yrs. Staffs are either too new and inexperienced, or the experienced ones are impatient and have altitude.
