The Nova has not been the same since new management. Although we were swiftly sat, it was long before a server came to our table- when we ordered everything at once and had to ask for waters. The server was very non-chalant and unapologetic when they finally came to our table. When the food came out, I found a dark black hair in my eggs. I let the server know and they picked the hair from the table and threw it on the ground in dismissive, secretive sort of way, seemed to be mad at me for mentioning it. It was very awkward. Took forever to get the servers attention for the bill, though it looked like they were just standing around. The food wasn't as good as it used to be, and the service was extremely poor. Though, I suspect the fault is much due to a lack of staffing and poor training. The place is looking run down as well. Hope they turn things around, used to be one of my favorite spots. read more

Absolutely charming little cafe on the main drag in Bozeman. Bright colors, great art, and spectacular staff. The coffee was fantastic. I got the cappuccino and my boyfriend got the regular coffee and both were great. We both had the Mom's Breakfast Burrito to eat. They tasted amazing and the portion size was absolutely perfect. An important side note for this place, as a gay couple, yes even in 2021, we have to be at least a little careful where we choose to be open about who we are. I had read reviews of some other places in Montana, while looking for a place to stop for lunch, and there were several that would not have been safe spaces for us. I can say, with confidence, that this cafe is absolutely a safe space for LGBTQ+ folx and that made a significant difference for us. We were both delighted with our experience here and I would highly recommend this as a stop for anyone wandering through Bozeman. read more

This is simply a must stop whenever you are in Bozeman. We have been twice now and my grandson would like to move here so he can have their waffles everyday. The place is just super good and the people so friendly. Be careful with the self-serve coffee, it is good and drink a few cups and sleep will escape you. What can I say, I usually don't drink coffee, but this was so good and I thought the idea of self-serve was great so I over did it by a few cups. If you can get there early, before 9 am so you are not waiting too long. They do have a to go line, but take the time and eat there. They have the best breakfast items ever. If you want crab, they have that. If you are vegan, they have that. Everything is fresh and the produce is local. You will just love this place. I can't wait to go back next year. read more

Called at 10 about call-ahead waitlist and were told they weren't doing call ahead waitlist, so went in person to put our name in to see that they actually were taking call aheads. Hostess threw trainees under the bus saying they were mistaken when they told us that. Despite the mistake still put us at end of line with 1 hour 15 minute wait. We sat looking at the hostess for 1 hour 30 minutes when they were finally able to seat us with the caveat that it would be at least another hour to get food. Adding insult to injury we noticed they got rid of Eggs Benedict on their menu which was the only reason we chose them over other places we should have chosen. Phenomenal! You must come here for breakfast if in Bozeman. I ordered the Turkey Hash and am so in love with it. Perfect combination of flavors. I got it with cinnamon raison toast, not bc those flavors all go together but bc it's my favorite kind of toast and it did not disappoint. My friend ordered the chorizo omelette which she said was also great. We also did a 1/2 order of the cottage cheese pancake, bc why not. But I have to compare Nova to Jam!, Feed, LotG, etc. It's in that league, and the portions are probably the best of them all, but the food is just a touch off the best of them. I had a forager omelette. The mushrooms were outstanding, the rest of the fillings were really good, but the seasoning was a bit underdone. See? This is the only complaint I have about Nova. A mixologist we met in Cody, WY, told us to check out Nova when we got to Bozeman. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. Inside it's also colorful and showcases very colorful work of a local artist. We were hoping for lunch but were advised when we came in and before sitting down that lunch items weren't available, nor were pancakes and waffles. We were hungry and figured we'd find something on the menu anyway, though if you aren't fond of eggs, the selection would have been limited. Hubs ordered a meat lovers omelet that he ate every bite of. I had scrambled egg sandwich which I enjoyed. Samatha our server was friendly and was prompt with beverage service and checking on our meals. While the menu was overly limited the day we in town, everything was flavorful. We walked in at 10am and their pastry case was bare. Very limited selection and disappointing. We ordered a mini banana bread loaf, chocolate sea salt cookies and an eclair. There's a reason this place is an institution here, and thank goodness they have as much seating as they do! Nova has a lovely menu with some standards for those with classic taste and a lot of interesting stuff I've never seen anywhere else for the adventurous bruncher. The lavender- and cardamom-infused London Fog latte, a seasonal special, is a necessary addition to your order...I don't usually order drinks at breakfast but it delivered. Loved the flavor combo of the lavender and cardamom. I had the locavore, an eggs benedict with beef summer sausage, microgreens, and hollandaise on sourdough. Sourdough! Never seen a benedict like that and it was delicious. The homefries are alright too and better doused in whatever delicious hot sauce they have at the tables. Food did take quite a while to come out...but the staff is really nice and friendly and brunch isn't meant to be rushed, so just...don't go there if you're urgently hungry. read more

The food is good! They had a special on eggs Benedict Korean style! The bulgogi was pretty good, but the kimchi was weak... The eggs were perfect, but the hollandaise lacked any significance. Plus, it was sparse and that hurt my feelings. The decor is nothing special. The staff is forgettable, some of them are rude. Really... Please get over yourself no one cares and you are a server for a reason.... Good thing this is not my establishment I would can half of them. The morning after is pretty good. Not a traditional Belgian waffle batter, it is still a good waffle with cheese in it. The bacon was good... Can I tell you the eggs they use and whoever is in the back of the house cooking the eggs is doing it right! No color on the eggs and the yolks are perfect! The coffee is decent.... Nova has so many great options! Including vegetarian options... I recommend the Huevos Rancheros :) They have such a cute, downtown vibe and the staff are friendly and helpful. Went here for a late breakfast and was looking forward to a past favorite spot of mine and was disappointed to have a mediocre experience. The amount of waiting for breakfast food and the inattentive service was very different from the last time I was here. The usually busy restaurant had many tables open which was a relief as we were seated quickly. We waited a while for our server to come by and ordered off the seemingly basic menu, omelets, pancakes, etc. As the restaurant did not seem busy I assumed the food would arrive quickly especially for a two top and ended up waiting about 10-15 minutes for simple pancakes and eggs. Once the food came we had almost finished our beverages and the server never came during the meal to check in or offer refills and I had to ask for the check. I had the "deuce" with eggs and bacon served on top of buttermilk pancakes. The eggs and bacon were cooked nicely yet the pancakes were fairly bland and slightly over cooked. Portion size was great for the price yet I was disappointed at the overall taste. The service definitely could be improved especially for a time that was not very busy. I am disappointed to lower the rating because I was fond of Nova. read more

We've been to the Nova Cafe twice now, and have loved it both times. The food is locally sourced, very fresh, and delicious. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. It was busy both times we went, but it was worth the wait. The staff here is, well...hit or miss. The first time we were there, or waitress was wonderful. Very attentive even though we sat outside. The second time, our waiter was ok. He was slightly flippant with us, and pretty much ignored my son. And when my 7 year old child had difficulty deciding what he wanted, our waiter got impatient. Grow up, man. He's a kid. I must have given him the NY Sicilian look of death or something, because he kinda straightened up after that. Great coffee, though! This is a very good breakfast joint in downtown Bozeangeles. While I prefer the more "traditional" breakfast flavors of Main Street Over Easy (my favorite in Bozeman), Nova Cafe offers a good alternative or change of pace for breakfast. It took a while to get seated. Actually it took a while to get anyone to even notice us to take our name down. When we were finally seated, Anna was our server and service from that point on was very good. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, and my wife ordered a special eggs Benedict with spinach over corn bread. The biscuits are of the "drop biscuit" type, as opposed to the layered flaky biscuit type. Pretty good. The gravy I would characterize as non-traditional, with bits of pink sausage and a slightly tart flavor. My wife liked it, but I prefer the more traditional sausage gravy style. The eggs Benedict were also very good. The cornbread base was tasty, but I would have preferred a muffin instead. That being said, the quality of ingredients and flavor were all very good. Just not what I prefer. If you like a more frou frou take on breakfast foods, this is your place. read more
