My guy and I had a really nice date here the other night. Walking Main Street is always fun and we popped in here for a bite. It has a "Chipotle" approach, walk thru and ice your toppings and meat, rice or spring mix, etc. and they have the Brazilian cheese bread bites too. I ordered 3...gave one away. I got a small bowl and he got a large and we both left just a bit. Cute decor and helpful staff. This would also be a good meal to order for work because they serve it in nice to go bowls. We came around 7pm, but many of the items were already sold out. I ordered a small Brazilian stew and my partner had a large beef bowl. The stew was fine but not particularly memorable, or perhaps I just did not choose the best base. When the hot stew was poured over the salad greens, they wilted instantly and essentially disappeared. The beef portion was generous, but the meat itself was cold, chewy, and lacking in seasoning. It made the bowl a bit tough to enjoy despite the size. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the space felt welcoming. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not something I would go out of my way to try again. read more

Passing through, it came up as a place where we could get gluten free and vegan (this is hard to do in Montana.) Sadly, despite it being lunch time and pretty empty inside, they had no tofu. That is pretty much the worst kind of offense to a vegan. If a burger place didn't have beef, that would be pretty dumb. This is the equivalent and I wish places would respect that DEI also pertains to food needs. So, I have no idea how the food is. read more

Traveling through Bozeman and I found this amazing place when looking for vegetarian options. They did not fall short. The collard greens were absolutely divine and the tofu was flavorful.They had such a good selection of sauces, that I had to get multiple on the side-just to try them. Roasted jicama is not something I've seen before, but boy was it good. They also have the mini cheese Brazilian buns that you can only find at Costco and at Brazilian restaurants. Super yummy. The only downside is it punches a hole in your pocket, but it's worth it every now and then!! read more

I am just not sure how this place has so many good reviews -- perhaps things have gone down hill over the years but I was by zero ambience, no music poorly lit and poorly maintained garage of a place. The food all looked very grey and unappealing (can't figure out why I ordered it anyway). Everything was bland and flavorless and the BBQ sauce tasted like medicine. The soda machine was broken and from the looks of the tattered sign -- it had been for quite some time. I was talked into the alternate (iced tea or lemonade in an old fashioned looking contraption and was told they had no ice "but the teas was probably a little cold". Healthy Fast Food Option Main Street in Bozeman was hopping... lots of people in downtown, the restaurants were full, the streets were full. I suspect many were here to visit the national parks: Grand Teton and Yellowstone. After checking in our hotel. we searched in Yelp for a nice place to have dinner.. many restaurants we went to had long wait times and at this point we would just settle for any food place then we saw Five on Black, a Brazilian restaurant. It wasn't a rodizio-style steakhouse... it was actually like a Chipotle-style with Brazilian food options. We were reluctant to walk in... vegan options, gluten free options and vegetarian friendly... if you knew me, that's not me. Hubby and I walked in anyway. The line wasn't too bad. The menu was simple... build a meal and choose your options: base, grill, side, sauce, and toppings. We each chose a small bowl and started creating our meal. My creation: Base (choose one) - white rice Grill (choose one) - Churrasco Beef Side (choose one) - Brazilian black beans Sauce (choose one) - Mango Barbecue Toppings (choose up to 3) - cilantro, tomato vinaigrette, Farofa toasted Cassava Flour I was very surprised! I loved it! Everything was delicious and very good. We'd recommend visiting here. They had indoor dining and a few tables outside. This is a counter-service fast food place. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff and they were excited to have out-of-towners visit Montana. This place is like a Brazilian chipotle! You can build your own protein bowl with greens, white rice or brown rice as the base. You add a side which is a veggie. I got the collard greens side and it was so tasty. You get a protein, I got tilapia. You also get a sauce. I tried the spicy coconut which wasn't really too spicy at all. For additional Brazilian toppings I got spicy chimichurri and cilantro. Everything tasted so fresh and healthy, I loved it! The small size was also perfect for me. l felt full but not overly full. They have really interesting soda options like lemongrass soda, blood orange soda, and others. I wish I was in town longer because I would definitely visit again! I was super excited to eat here because I love the idea of healthy bowls and picking what you want, but not sure I would come back again. The food is tasty, the flavors are there, and the cheese bread is delicious, however, they truly skimped on the meat. We shared the large bowl, and chose the Brazilian stew as the meat option, and there were TWO, less than 1 inch pieces of meat in it, and the rest of the stew was just stewed, canned tomatoes, which we thought was pretty hilarious and absurd at the same time. The restaurant is pretty, and the staff are incredibly helpful, but the staff were also basically just sitting in the back and eating food (in plain sight). So maybe they ate the meat too? read more

I wanted to like this place since a Brazilian version of Chipotle sounds amazing. However, the meat was not seasoned at all. The mango barbecue sauce was good but in dire need of salt. I think everything could have tasted significantly better if there was seasoning. When we went, they were almost empty on one tray of the meat so the guy just put what he can on my bowl and on my husband's bowl--I was assuming he would put more once they replaced the tray with a full meat tray. I assumed wrong. The meat on my bowl was literally only five little cubes of meat, barely fitting in my palm (and I have small hands). I had to ask for extra meat. The guy was also not paying attention and put sweet potatoes in my husband's bowl literally after he specifically asked for beans. I wished the food here tasted better. Our last meal in Montana and so we wanted something a little healthier than what we been eating. This place has really good reviews so we decided take a chance. It's kinda like chipotle but somewhat healthier. You get to choose between a small size or a regular size. Trust me, get the regular size for additional +2 because it's more cost savings and a lot more food than the smalls. My boyfriend got the regular and it basically fed 2 people while I got two small and I was eating some of his. You get to choose the base, protein and filling. We also got their soup. They are not the best thing I had but they are definitely refreshing and healthy. It's a good lunch options for sure. Price was also very reasonable. The food is great whenever they are open. However, we have tried going on multiple occasions since September 2022 and have yet to get any food because they are literally NEVER open when their posted hours say they are open. Sign says they are closed on Sunday but we showed up on a Saturday at 1 pm. Closed. Not a light on. Showed up on several random weekdays at various hours and they are either closed or a sign on the door stating they are opening at another time outside of the 11 am opening time. Today on 20-Dec-2022, we stopped by at 11:30 am and a sign is posted they are opening today at noon. We have literally stopped by 8 - 10 times and not once were they open. Had to grab a quick bite in Bozeman and decided on this place based to reviews. Nice healthy option but as some have stated little bit of meat and lots of rice. I do think you have to mix things right to get a good flavor. I enjoyed my meal but the rest of my party didn't care for theirs. When we went they had run out of rice and one of the beans. Girl was scraping at the bottom of the pot for the brazilian stew but it was flavorful what I got. The bbq sauce was good and added to the flavor. I really enjoyed the casava flour roll. Dining area was cool but as you'd expect in similar establishment with "fast food" so nothing exceptional but its not fine dining so. We tried this in the Missoula location for the first time and my husband was so impressed with the pao de queijo that we stopped here in Bozeman to get a half dozen order to snack on. He's been to Brazil and said that these were super legit. They had a nice crispness on the bottom and amazing cheesiness. This was a great, fresh option that was a pretty quick jump off the interstate. Main Street was SUPER busy (due to Tues night farmers market I think) but we did find a parking spot just down the way. It was just like Chipotle, but with Brazilian flair - super cute and trendy on the inside too. The staff were happy to talk me through all the different choices and I was totally pleased with what I got. Ate here for the first time. It's like Chipotle but Brazilian style. I'm eating low carb so I got a bowl with salad and no rice, black beans half tailpipe and half chicken. And all the toppings. Next time I will leave the toasted cassava off I didn't realize what it was. It tasted good but I didn't need the extra carbs with the black beans.
