We've been traveling & I am so tired of road food. The kind young man behind the counter whipped up the best "bowl" I've ever had. He picked the best combo of ingredients for me, I had the stew, collards, chimichurri, mango, rice, salad, cilantro & little roll (maybe other things?) It was really flavorful. The foods had a cool synergy. I liked their choice of music-how can you go wrong with Nirvana & REM? read more

This place is disgusting. It is VERY CLEAR this place is not food safe. There is a chance the floors have never been cleaned. The perimeter of the floors is covered in black soot, grease, dirt and bugs. I'm not sure how this place is operating but IT IS NOT CLEAN and needs to be shut down. read more

Food was excellent, super healthy options (all gluten free if that matters) and very delicious. Very good organic crafted fountain drinks as well. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Great option for a tasty, quick lunch! read more

Quick serve bowls with a Brazilian twist. Small size was more than enough. Only one vegetarian protein option- a beet/yam mix that needed to be cooked a little longer. Greens and black bean side options (actually served on top, not the side) were both fine. I went with the coconut sauce which added flavor to the rice. Chimichurri on top was good, too. Fine for a fast, inexpensive, healthy-ish meal. read more

I came here on a weekday night during the coronavirus days, and I was surprised that they were only doing takeout and no seating inside. Anyway, I got a small bowl with half salad and half white rice, tilapia, swiss chard, spicy coconut saucce, chimichanga, and two helpings of the tomato. I also got a pao de queijo, and I just realized I wasn't charged for it. Anyway, the spicy coconut sauce really made the meal; I don't think it would've been very good without it. I really enjoyed it, and it was pretty filling too. The pao de queijo wasn't very good though as it was cold and a bit hard. For $7.25, it was quite cheap and it was a flavorful meal. Servers were friendly too! read more

If you like power bowls of any kind, this place is for you. At a very fair price, you get fresh food and flavorful combination of a few toppings and sauces. They use fresh ingredients and quality food. I would come back here anytime I was in the mood for something light and simple. Go with confidence and enjoy! Also they serve tractor co. Drinks which I found to be especially refreshing and tastey. Service was on par and those little chocolate balls were great. I wouldn't nessarily call this a Brazilian grill, but for a bowl it was good:) However the reason for 4 instead of 5 is that it is too simple. Now I do recognize the fact their menu could be smaller due to COVID. As a restaurant owner myself, I understand my experience could be singular during these times. But if it's not.... I wish they would have a wider variety of combinations that you could create. What they offer is very good and I'd most gladly eat here again, however you only get to choose bowl, and then are basically only 2 flavors to choose from: coconut or bbq. What I did have was delicious, but with literally only 1 option, visitation frequency is low. You get a bowl with 2 sauce options. That's it. Also, on a side note, I did feel like the beef I got was...well...kinda fake. This would be my only complaint. It was like Chipotle or something. Super simple If I owned Five on Black, I'd offer a more creative and capturing menu, something that would keep me coming back to try new things. You left a good first impression, but now I know everything you have to offer after 1 visit. Maybe a a wrap option? Different varieties of greens? A few more sauces? More toppings? Maybe different beef options? Shred instead of cube? Furthermore, guys...yall need to decorate your place a little better. (Its ugly in there). Maybe they are redecorating cause of COVID? Overall, very good food and I highly reccomend. However due to the lack of options and creativity, the customer experience is not one that inspires a frequent visit. But because their food was so good, I'd totally go again if I was in the mood for a brazilian bowl! read more

It's fast food, but minus the fats? Sign me up please! The menu is simple and straight forward. If you're a vegan you're just limited to the veggie choices, otherwise, the sky is the limit. It was like a burrito but without the tortilla. Not too bad at all. I love the bread though! I wish I had some more. The staff is friendly and patient. read more

We enjoyed the food here very much. Was a pleasant surprise to find a healthy, "fast food" place in MT. We liked it so much we went to the one in Missoula too. My husband loved the cheese bread so much read more

Listen I would give this place 5 stars easily because I actually love their bowls so much. However, the amount of times I have showed up and the place isn't open (when all posted hours say they should be) or they have closed early is actually insane. Probably 80% of the time I come here, it is closed. I understand staffing issues are hard, but if that's the case, please just change your posted hours. read more

Five on Black - Fast Food Near Me - Bozeman, Montana

I always pop into this Five on Black when I am in town. Not that it is a reflection of the business at all but this vicinity has the absolute worst parking ever! Whenever I am in Downtown Bozeman, I struggle to find parking but some places are definitely better than others. Some places, there is a parking garage or lot nearby that you can use. With this location, there is a bank nearby with a parking lot and they are sooooo strict on parking in that lot. There is a guy they have hired to scream at any speck of dust that is in the lot without their permission. So anyways, once you figure out how to legally park your car, even if it costs you a walk from Belgrade, there is an old building that has been converted into Five on Black. The food is great and I loooove getting the Paos! This last time that I visited, I got thirsty and decided to purchase a drink. As it turns out, that was not the best idea. Their rootbeer is not very good at all :/ or maybe it was just an off day but I was not impressed with it. Everything else was awesome! read more

First time trying this concept from a Brazilian perspective - enjoyed the food and toppings. Due to the high volume of customers, we had to order relatively quickly to keep up with the influx but otherwise enjoyed our small bowls - definitely a great size for a hungry person. read more

Darn good if you want something other than a pizza or a burger. Good for vegetarians. Maybe. Is it warm? Yes. Big serving? Absolutely. But honestly, as I ate I realized that there might be spice to it but there isn't a lot of flavor. Is it nice as a meal? Sure. But I don't think I'd seek it out on a regular basis. read more

Five on Black - Small bowl with chicken and sweet potatoes and large bowl with practically all the fixings! - Fast Food Near Me - Bozeman, Montana

Healthy "fast food" at a steal? I'm totally in! Located right in the middle of adorable downtown Bozeman is this funky, fun, very tasty, heavily Brazilian influenced 'make your own' joint. Build a bowl... -decide small or regular (A small is really plenty!) -choose a base (crispy greens, white or brown rice) -a base (chicken, beef, tilapia, veggies or feijoda which slow cooked is bacon, beef, beans and sausage) -a carb (coconut roasted sweet potatoes, black beans or steamed collards) -a sauce (mango BBQ or spicy coconut) -choose 3 toppings (chimichurri, cilantro, lime wedge, chunky tomato or farofa, a spicy toasted Brazilian crumble) I had a small crispy greens (romaine and spinach with veggies (beets, jicama, slow raised sweet potatoes) with black beans in a spicy coconut sauce topped with cilantro, lime and farfoa! You must try the farfoa! It completed this simple yet flavorful absolutely delicious bowl. My daughters made their own as well, different ingredients, equally as tasty! These grab and go bowls were perfect for us to take camping on the Yellowstone River that night. Cold or hot, these inexpensive meals were fab! I wish there was a Five On Black back home! The space boasts of natural accents such as wood, muted paint tones and terra-cotta pots filled with succulents. You'll find unexpected pops of bold colors. There are animal silhouettes which gave an appropriate nod to the region of the country as well as hanging raw light strands which were so industrial chic. I totally dug it all! Very fresh and youthful vibe! Oh, they also have outdoor seating too! Parking out front was not an issue. I do believe it was quarter meter so bring 'em! read more

Yummy, healthy, filling food! Very appreciative for the allergen-friendly options. Service was "Chipotle" style - build your own customized meal and checkout. We loved the bowls so much, we returned a few days later for more. The coconut sauce is very tasty and unique. A great "on the go" option to take lunch or dinner to a nearby park. read more

My wife and I eat Paleo, so it's really hard to find good, clean food when we're on the road. This was just a few minutes off of the interstate, and it fit the bill. Absolutely delicious food at a great price with quick, friendly service. Even the little cheese buns were made with cassava flour instead of corn or brown rice like most gluten free breads. Will make a point to return anytime we're in the area. Hopefully they'll spread outside of Montana soon, and if so, might I suggest Spokane? :) If you have an opportunity, stop on in and give this gem a try! read more

I love this place and the concept! Tasty food that you get immediately, good price and great service, too! I loved the tilapia in my bowl.

This was my second time eating here, and the difference was night and day from the first. If my first time had been anything like the second, I probably wouldn't have come back. The steak was bland, and so were the sweet potatoes (which were my favorite's the first time). I also had some very big stems (which I was convinced were toothpick pieces) that I took bites of. It was just an overall poor eating experience with poor consistency, especially for the price. I'm just disappointed since it was great the first time. read more

We raced into town to get here five minutes before closing. We were greeted warmly! What a relief! The recommended brown rice, chicken, sweet potato and spicy coconut with cilantro tomato vin and lime was great! And my creation of the brown rice/crisp greens, chicken, black beans, green herb, and spicy chimichurri, cilantro, and tomato vin was awesome! The gals even gave us samples of the pao de quiejio's - delicious little cheese rolls. Loved this quick dinner! Thank You so much for making our first experience in Bozeman wonderful! read more

It was okay. Not something I would go to again. The bowls have too much rice/salad, and barely any of the filling. I did think the food was tasty but the proportions were off. Meh. read more

This place was a quick, healthy option in between our run arounds. It was nice to build a rice bowl with some of my favorite veggies. I thought the flavor was good, but it didn't wow me. Think Chipotle or Subway with more flavorful options and interesting proteins. Choose your base, proteins, sauces and toppings. A great price for the flavorful combinations that are available! I opted for a greens base with tilapia, coconut curry sauce, sweet potatoes with lime and cilantro. My only suggestion would be to ask for light sauce if you're getting the greens, as they are pretty heavy handed with it and it doesn't soak up in the salad at all. A quick, affordable lunch that doesn't make you leave feeling disgusting, yeah! read more

Five on Black - Regular sized bowl with greens, tilapia, sweet potatoes, coconut curry and cilantro. - Fast Food Near Me - Bozeman, Montana

It's Monday at 1:00pm here in Bozeman and my girlfriend and I were looking for some place to grab lunch quickly. Google told us 5 on Black was open, so we drove 20 minutes to get here. As we walked up to 5 on Black the door was locked and the sign on the door said "open everyday 11-9." OBVIOUSLY NOT!!! we saw someone inside and knocked on the door but still no answer. Seriously fresh ingredients! Fast and friendly service. The girl helping us was polite and answered all of our questions since we had never been in before. Thank you for that! My sister and I both ordered a small bowl. She went for tilapia, rice, black beans, and coconut sauce. The fish was a little dry, but overall she liked it. I got chicken, sweet potatoes, mango BBQ sauce, over greens. With the lettuce base, I think I needed to get a medium, it wasn't quite enough for a regular sized meal. I also don't think I realized how sweet everything was going to be, so my combination of sauce and sweet potatoes was just overly sweet and lacked dimension. So choose wiser than I and get some spicy mixed in there! That's what I was missing. On another note, everything was so uniformly cut in a half inch dice it was just kind of monotonous texture wise. Larger pieces of protein would have broken that up. A little more meat to "side" ratio would have been nice. The cheese buns were very good... Although I wish our server had given us the inside scoop before we left because we both wanted like three more each!!! Overall we had a light, healthy lunch for under ten bucks each! Can't do much better than that! We'll be back. read more

This place is absolutely legit. Consistently great flavors. Simple. My kids love it. We would eat here everyday if we could.

Just ordered take out from here. Everything is over salted with not much other flavor. I came in not expect anything great. Something mediocre like Chipotle would have been fine for the night, but it turned out way worse than Chipotle. Tourists, be warned. read more

Good, healthy, fast. Staff was very nice. Would definitely go back here in the future.

Always a favorite place when we are visiting Bozeman! Love that they are practicing COVID safety.

The food here is incredible! We ordered the Brazilian stew bowls, both with brown rice and salad. I added tilapia and grilled veggies, he added steak and veggies. Online ordering was easy, it was absolutely gluten free, the Brazilian cheese bread was delicious. My one suggestion is elaborating on the grilled veggies online. Turns out it's beats and jicama and sweet potato. Not what we expected. Still delicious and I dislike sweet potato, but I wouldn't have paid extra for it. read more
