Stumbled upon Nosh This at OTG Presidio and sampled their bacon crack. It was so cracktastic that we ended up purchasing the small square to share later on. The bacon crack is the perfect combo of salty & sweet. It's a sinful hunk of dark Guittard chocolate, with toffee, smoked bacon and toasted almonds. There must be free samples I thought to myself and there certainly was. Free Bacon Crack noshing for all! I remembered their name from a review that Luis C had written long ago, and unlike most of the crowd that had assembled I didn't just take my free Crack and go. I caught this guy on street food friday in front of fabric8. He was selling bacon crack, black peppercorn salted caramels, and chili frito pie. I was cold and hungry, so I ordered the chili frito pie. It HIT THE SPOT. Oh man! The chili itself was great, and with all the toppings -- cheese, tortilla chips, onions, cilantro, and sour cream -- you can't go wrong. I'm going throw in chips into my chili from now on! When I saw it being sold locally, I bought it immediately. When my friend came over to visit, we fought over the last piece (duh, obviously I win!) and if there was one kind of sweet, edible bite that would close out my time on this globe, it will most likely be the bacon one. But the pepper one or the Rocky Road could be contenders too. And what's this I hear about truffles possibly making their way into the Nosh This family someday! Bacon crack is the best bacon brittle I've had. Better than Vosges' by a long shot. Bacon rocky road was the perfect balance of chocolate, nuts, marshmallows and bacon. These were the best rocky road candies I've ever had. The quality of the ingredients makes all the difference. The bacon caramels were very smoky, with a deep bacon umami backbeat. I've had Snake and Butterfly (Sunnyvale CA)'s bacon caramels, which were more bacon forward (weird to write, but...true), but I like both Nosh This and Snake and Butterfly's bacon caramels. A friend sent me some bacon and lavender crack from Nosh This as a pick-me-up during this time of shelter. A freakin' wonderful surprise! I've never had them before and didn't know what to expect. Let me say that I was hesitant on both accounts. Bacon in my chocolate?! Lavender in my dessert...? I was iffy, to say the least, although I do LOVE chocolate. Thank GOODNESS the bacon crack comes in a 4-piece set! I could literally eat a vat of it, of course, not feeling well afterwards...but it's that damn good and addictive. The "problem" is that it sticks in your teeth so you're like "I'm not going to have another one" and walk away but the salt and fat and sweet just stay in your mouth and you're obsessing and then you go in again for another. A horribly delicious cycle of insanity! As for the lavender, I have never liked flowers in my food. Rose in desserts or jasmine in my tea are not my favorites, so I procrastinated on that one, as well. Thankful that the bag was small. I inhaled the pieces in 1 sitting. haha Again...IT'S SO GOOD!!! The flavors and the chocolate consistency are SO AMAZING. I will be buying these products as gifts for friends and definitely want to consume (a TON) again in the near future! I ordered online the Assorted Salted Caramels and 3 Little Pigs (two pieces of Bacon Crack, two pieces of Bacon Salted Caramel and one piece of Bourbon Bacon Rocky Road). They were delivered perfectly fine even though it was quite hot here these days. First of all, the packaging itself looks so neat and pretty that it could be a special gift for someone you love. The taste is just out of this world.. I've consumed countless caramels and toffee, but these treats have such a subtle sweetness and saltiness (and the smokey bacon flavor of course!). Tooth aching sweetness is not the case when it comes to devouring Nosh This! In addition to that, they use high percentage dark chocolate (72%) for covering their product. Nothing can go wrong. My favorite is the Bacon Crack and all the caramels, especially the Salt and Pepper, but everything tastes so good! It's really hard to play favorites! I will definitely re-order some in the near future but am planning to visit their store when I visit SF this year. As a dessert snob, I highly recommend this place. I bought a piece of "bacon crack" at Off the Grid (Presidio Picnic) this morning, because who can resist a name like that! The prices are on the steep side ($4 for a little square), but given that they're handmade, local, sustainable, etc. etc. etc. - and the thing is super dense - it's definitely worth a try! I was surprised at how crunchy it was; for some reason I had pictured more of a caramel, but this is definitely a toffee. Which is great, because I love toffee but don't get it often. I went to a neighberhood event in Potrero Hill and had the opportunity to try Nosh for the first time. I liked the bacon crack, which is a butter-toffee with bacon and almonds that's been dipped in chocolate. It was delicious enough to be addicted to. But I fell in love with the meyer lemon caramels. They smell wonderful and they have a clean citrus flavor with just the right hint of sweetness, not to mention the lovely attributes described on the website, they were "soft, chewy, and bursting with flavor". I didn't try it, but I loved the sound of the rocky road which has homemade bourbon marshmallows, organic walnuts and Fleur de Sel. They are a future must try. read more

While wandering along Valencia with friends looking for a nice sit-down meal at 10:30 on a Friday night, we zoomed past the "Nosh This" food cart. Being a caramel addict, my reptilian brain spun my feet around before I had a chance to consciously process the Bacon Salted Caramels and Balsamic Salted Caramels on the chalkboard menu. Finding a place to seat us at that hour could be iffy; I quickly bought a package of each so if nothing else, at least dessert would be a sure thing. After a lifetime of caramel eating, I have to say that at this point NT caramels are among the best I've tasted. The caramel itself has just the right amount of soft chewiness when your teeth crack through surrounding layer of dark chocolate; sprinkled with grey sea salt, the flavors and textures meld into a rich, buttery, and satisfying sweetness. This is complemented perfectly with a distinct but subtle balsamic essence in one, and the light crunch and smoky flavor of bacon in the other. After seeing reviews on yelp we decided to grab some chocolate. Turns out this place is hard to find. You need to go into a building, up an elevator, and find the door with the "knock loudly if you want some chocolate" sign. It was worth the hunt!! The almond crack is amazing!! It is sweet, salty, and the perfect combination. I have been seeing this chocolate pop up at other stores, so you can definitely find it around town. Soooo good. read more

I was gifted Bacon Crack for Christmas and thought nothing of it. Finally today (5 days later) I opened it and tried it. OH MY GOD!! I can't believe I waited so long to try. Seriously one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. I love the different tastes; the richness of the butte,r with the saltiness of the bacon and sea salt, dipped in chocolate that makes the best combination. I'm considering leaving my warm and comfy apartment now so I can have a look at the store. Best Christmas present this year! I highly recommend! read more

I love supporting street food vendors like this! Offering vegan soups and a few homemade confections including bacon crack! I had his vegan corn chowder which was served on top of tortilla chips and with a cilantro jalapeño purée. Absolutely excellent. I love soups and I am not vegan, but I am lactose intolerant and this significantly reduces my soup choices. I love that he offers soups without cream or milk but without compromising taste.
