Love! Love! Lovvvve! This place! When I had Frankie (my last little guy) I sadly only went here a few times & it's a tad pricey so I never spent a ton there. Fast forward to today & I have Alfie. So this next part is gonna be kind of mushy, I apologize in advance lol. When I got Alfie, I decided to research different foods, treats, etc that would be the best for him. I did the same for Frankie, but part of me feels like I failed him and after he passed last year, I thought, maybe if I had done more research, I could have found a better food for him that maybe would have helped his health and he wouldn't have passed away. I know that's crazy because he passed from congestive heart failure & kidney failure is what eventually took him. Still, me being me, I will always wonder if there was something could have done to maybe have prevented his health issues. He was 11 1/2, so I mean, he was older but little ones last longer than bigger ones! At least that's what I've been told my entire life lol. I thought Frankie and I would grow old together lol. I have Alfie now and I am above and beyond grateful for my little dude. So I've done the food research and have him on a certain food. Insanely expensive lol, especially for the amount and naturally, he loves it. It's a raw diet tho. So I have found another food, a kibble, he isn't had it yet, but I'll be switching him to it. Also an expensive food, but their track record is absolutely pristine compared to literally every other dog food company....from the things I've read. This place is the only place that carries these foods and a variety of other *higher end* foods. So yeah, it's "that" kind of place lol. It's truly a fantastic store. Super super clean, the layout couldn't be any more perfect, the selection from foods to toys to treats is amazing. I am so glad I finally decided to go in here and it's super close to my house too. Alfie is still scared of cat rides lol, so when he finally grows out of that, I'll take him in so he can pick out some toys and treats himself. He will be 1 on January 3rd, so HOPEFULLY before then, he will get over his fear of the car rides lol. The staff here is incredible. I have yet to come across a rude one. All so friendly, incredibly helpful, and they engage. So many in retail don't anymore especially if their phone is in reaching distance lol. You really couldn't ask for a better pet store. Sure Petco and Petsmart are good and convenient because they huge and everywhere. Northwest Pets is a smaller store and just feels good supporting the smaller businesses...especially nowadays. Petco and Petsmart have nothing to worry about. The treats I get Alfie, bully sticks, can be found at Petco and at NW Pets. They're pricey little chew treats, but he absolutely loves them and they take awhile to devour lol..so it's worth the $$ and he's definitely worth it. Both stores are comparable in prices with those. NW Pets just has the foods that Petco and Petsmart don't carry. They have a couple, but yeah, NW Pets definitely has brands not carried at the bigger stores. Anyone who lives in the PNW and who has a cat and or a dog I guarantee have been to this store. It's such a great store. Again, glad I finally started to go here and regret waiting until recently. I rarely ever leave reviews but this is necessary. 10/10 for service and quality. We went in for a self service dog wash and had the best experience. the dog wash area has so many product options (included) it's SO clean, and quiet/private which helped my dog relax. the staff was sooo helpful, I got help from 3 separate people and they all seemed so happy to be there. I'm in awe! so happy with our experience :) read more

Our local neighborhood boutique pet store with higher end items. This is a nice alternative to Petco or Petsmart if you need a great leash, collar, harness, etc.... I love the amazing high quality cat tree with the house on top but there is not much selection beyond the two different kinds they had in store. I also was impressed by the selection of outdoor gear for dogs, food, toys, beds, etc. I found my favorite pet shampoo for a fair price and will be back for other items as needed for sure! read more

took our dog down for a self serve wash. website has hours listed. Arrived on Sunday at 3:15. Wash is closed. Clerk says it closes early on Sunday "like at 3:20'. I told her website says 4 and it's only 3:15. Lazy staff who didn't want to clean up the wash area later in the day. Definitely not worth a drop in to wash your dog. read more

Great place to get seasonal cookie treats for our pupper. We wanted to get her one for Valentine's Day, but they were sold out of hearts and such. They still had Christmas ones though so I guess more people do Valentines for their furbabies than Christmas? We also got her a birthday cake cookie for her birthday. They average about $3 depending on what kind/size. read more

I loved my visit today with the women at Northwest Pets as did my eleven month old puppy Aura. She is a mini Australian Shepherd. All three employees present loved on Aura helping me with my socializing. They had the treats I've looked for in training and Kendra has the most marvelous suggestion to use peanut butter flavored tooth paste to get Aura used to the tooth brushing process. Although I didn't need food, they certainly have a great selection. Definitely met my needs today and more. read more

I've came here twice now during covid and feel they are taking lots of precautions. You must wait outside, they take your order and bring out your items to the back of your car. I recently ran out of my dogs normal dry food and they don't stock that product. The guy helping me looked up my old food and found a comparable item that was cheaper and a bigger bag. Additionally, they have nutritional supplements for the ordinary or extraordinary circumstances. While they don't carry my cat's litter, the options in 'everything pet' abounds. read more

I have loved this store and have spent so much spoiling my pups here. Unfortunately, when it came to returning a bag of spoiled raw food the attitude from the male manager was horrible. Yes, he did allow the exchange but the way he inspected the bag and when a comment was made about the smell he rolled his eyes. This was so off putting. I did not come just to exchange that bag of food I also spent an additional $150. For being a Manager I would expect better customer service from this man. Its been 4 years since we rescued Kody from a young couple who already had way too many dogs. He was being chained up outside and then when inside he was being stuffed into a crate. For most dogs this can be terrifying but for Siberian Husky who wants to be with pack it is a straight nightmare. I still remember that faithful Friday night as I parked our car at the Winco on Fairview and Milwaukee. I accessed the Craigslist app from my phone and simply entered " Siberian Husky" There were a lot of posts and most of them were most likely scams, but there was one from Meridian. I immediately showed the picture to wife and we had the quickest Winco trip that I can still remember. I called the young couple and made arrangements with our grocery bags in tow in the back of the car to visit " Balto " shortly thereafter. We saw " Balto " and he stole our hearts. I remember friends and acquaintances telling me, " Are you crazy! A Siberian Husky for your first dog" Yes, I know but being Leo, the harder the challenge, the more attractive it is. We renamed " Balto " to Kody and started our Siberian Husky training. It was of course a crash course but we were so fortunate to stop by Northwest Pets located around the corner from Rosauers and from Le Peep. The staff from day 1 to now have been amazing. I knew feeding Kody basic dry food was not going to be good for him and we had already tried the Costco brand which did not work. Luckily for us, one of the employees at Northwest Pets suggested trying Nutri-Source Seafood select. Kody really like the flavors being a Northern breed. Like any label is it so critical to check the list of ingredients and dog food is no different. The first ingredient was Salmon but after a couple of weeks he seemed to be bored so we add a second flavor which was Buffalo. We did follow the steps to ease the new food in and he took to the Buffalo very well and he ate the Buffalo for a good 2 years. A couple of perks about shopping at Northwest Pets. Each bag you buy you get loyalty points, and after the 13th purchase of the same bag, you get a free bag. There are also special Truckload saving dates per year, where you buy 1 bag and the second bag is 25% off. All of these are great deals, but really it goes back to the customer service, Nutri-Source stopped making the Buffalo blend and we were really in pinch to figure out what we can give Kody to eat. We were provided with a backpack of samples ranging from Quail, Turkey, Lamb and Duck. The winner winner chicken dinner was Zignatures Duck. It is his absolute favorite. Keep in mind, that if your dog doesn't like the food that you purchase at Northwest Pets, you can return it for a refund. WoW! The accessories and other items they have are all recommended. There Ruffwear leashes, backpacks, and specialized toys that have mint oil so that their breathe smell great. Those toys are made by Planet Dog. Highly recommended. They not only have the best for your pet, but you will be treated the best when you visit Northwest Pets. read more

I love this place. It's nestled in a shopping center with its own parking lot so I never have to search for a spot. I think at the busiest I've seen something like 5 cars at a time :) As a fervent (borderline obsessive) dog lover, this is one of my favorite places to shop. As a dog trainer, I also love to refer people to this little store because of its thoughtfully stocked products. Everything from Adaptil for anxiety to high quality organic treats can be found here. They have a good assortment of high quality foods available and all their toys are awesome as well. One of the treat bags they sell is made in Idaho! I love to support "local" businesses. The employees are incredibly knowledgeable and will talk you through any dietary or nutrition issues you might have. Give them your dog's symptoms of gastric upset and they'll recommend a food for you. They definitely won't just try to sell you the most expensive one...because they're all expensive. There's no Ol' Roy here, folks. This store has a much more boutique-y feel to it and is geared toward customers who feed their dogs the next best thing to human food (if you're interested in that, Honest Kitchen *IS* human grade food and they sell it here. This is what I feed one of my dogs). They also have a dog wash! This is important to mention because I had no idea it existed until my husband told me one day after I'd been coming here for months. I think it's $15 and completely DIY. Once I discovered it was there, I took my dog in and came out more soaked than she was. Whatever. I had fun trying. Of note, however: the dog wash area is small and rather cramped so if you have a dog reactive/dog aggressive dog I recommend skipping the wash. They're all in close proximity to each other. There is a corner of the store dedicated to people-things like t shirts, coasters, and welcome signs for your house. If you are interested, it can be located right next to the dog cookie bakery display. Yeah, I said dog bakery. There are hand decorated dog cookies in the display available for anywhere from $1.50 to $5. Inevitably I pick one up for each of my dogs because somehow I feel like I'm neglecting them if I don't; perhaps because I can't leave a human bakery without buying something for myself :) One star off for a few of the products they carry like prong collars. I know some people use training tools like that but they're unnecessary and it bothers me so, since it's my review, I get to take a star off :) That said, there's something here for every animal lover. I don't actually go to this Northwest Pets I go to the one off overland. But there's so many things to like about this place. The products seem to be more natural and healthy for your pets. We buy food and treats from these guys. They are always super friendly! I even had one of the male workers help me carry out the dog food to my car - amazing customer service. They were friendly when I bought my dog supplies. The cashier was even extra helpful in helping me adjust the collar-to-seatbelt device to the largest size so that my dog could have maximum movement in the car. I didn't even make it to Taco Bell & back (5 miles tops?) and the device was torn (not chewed) in half. I returned to the store to make an exchange, since I had just bought it like 25 minutes earlier. I was made to wait 10 minutes so that the attendant (different from the original cashier) could go talk to some nameless manager. She came back and told me it was basically MY problem, and to contact the manufacturer because they would do nothing at the store. I told her I would never be back to that location ever again! I have 3 dogs that I spoil rotten, that just cost them A LOT of money! BUYER BEWARE: They sell trinket level merchandise at top dollar price & don't back up what they sell. NW Pets has been our pet store of choice since escaping Oregon. If you love your pets like kids (we call ours furry kids), then good nutrition and safe toys are what you look for. And NW Pets provides them in spades. Most pets usually have some kind of food sensitivities, so if you are looking for grain-free diets, no chicken, no beef, not too rich, not too hard to digest, etc. then this is the pet store for you. We credit a good diet as one of the reasons we have our 16+year old Jack Russell still doing well. The only thing we wish they carried were some of our favorite pet food supplements. NE Pets has two stores, one in Eagle, out by Winco and one in Meridian, around the corner from Rosauers Grocery. Both are well stocked and the employees at each know pets and what foods and/or toys would be good for your pet. It is also true that their pet foods are on the more expensive end of the price point. No Alpo, Purina or other grain based dog foods, for example. The dry kibble we buy is a bit shy of $3.00 a lb. But it has worked for us in keeping our dogs fit and healthy. You can accrue a discount credit that can be used to offset a future purchase and for some brands of dry kibble, you can get a free bag after buying so many bags. So that helps. We highly recommend doing business with local merchants and when it benefits our furry kids, so much the better. read more

We LOVE Northwest Pets Eagle location. We visit monthly to use the self service dog wash. We have a 75 pound golden doodle who is a pain to wash in our shower at home and she is pretty shy going to new places. She seriously loves the super friendly staff and the baths. I'm really disappointed with the service I received here. I took my dog in the store with me because I was exchanging a collar and wanted to make sure it fit. She is a Pit Bull Terrier. I understand the prejudice this breed has so I try to be open minded and be a responsible dog owner. The second we got in the store there was a store clerk standing in the middle of the isle with the most disdainful look on her face. She didn't address me or ask any questions and she stood in the way to where me and my dog had to walk around her. Her coworker helped me locate the collars and I found what I was looking for ignoring the fact that these two employees were hovering around watching me and my dog. When it came to pay the lady with the disdainful look, which she still had, checked me out. Again she asked no questions and offered no help and completely ignored my dog. She started ringing things up before I could even say I had an exchange. After the transaction there was no gesture or words to have a good day. I guess I expected at least at a pet store my dog would get a little more respect or understanding, I was so wrong! read more

I normally go to the other NW Pet stores but since my dogs were out of food tonight and I was rushing to get there before they closed I pulled into this one on my way home from work. 7:02 and the lady leaned out the door, told me they were closed but to come back at 10 in the morning. Yeah right. While I'm at work. I went to Albertsons and had great service but I'll go back to my regular NW Pets store. I don't recommend this Meridian store. read more
