We had two fur babies groomed. Our toy schnauzer looked like a child had groomed her. Her coat was uneven and her skirt was chopped up. Her ears had not been clipped short and they shaved off her eyebrows. She looked horrible! Our blond shih tzu looked worse, if you can believe it. His coat was VERY uneven, his beard was chopped uneven. His ears still had soap in them. His feet had not been scissored. I didn't get the lady who checked me out's name sadly but she was SO SWEET. Loved her friendly energy. Receptionist/cashier at grooming was the typical "I really don't want to be here and I will have a shitty attitude to make that clear". One reoccurring comment "I just don't want to do this as I don't feel up to it today". Very slow walking through everything. Additionally the corporate processes were burdensome and unnecessary.. Worst grooming cut for our dog, ever. It was no trim, it was essentially a low level shave off. Not to the skin, but extremely short. Golden doodles are not supposed to be shaved with a guard. Butchered my dogs grooming. Not only did they buzz him completely (he's a Sheepadoodle) he came home with so many razor burn cuts that we have been dealing with for over a week on trying to heal especially on his private area. He's never had his tail shaved and they completed shaved it off. While doing this it keeps bleeding on every single thing he hits it on. We've been taking our pupper to this PetSmart location for nearly 2 years. We go about every other month (sometimes longer) when her nails are too long and we can't handle her filthy face anymore - LOL We pay $68: $55 for the grooming and $13 for the nail grinding - and it's worth every penny. We typically schedule an appointment via their app for a Saturday morning. When we took her yesterday (appointment was right when they opened) they told us it would be 3-4 hours because they were going to be very busy. And it did take them just about 4 hours to call for us to pick her up. She was scheduled with one girl and someone else groomed her so maybe her person called in sick or something. Either way, they told us about the delay in advance which we appreciated, and she came out looking and smelling clean and beautiful with a cute little bow in her hair. I would definitely recommend this PetSmart - and continue to go there - great staff who is kind to us and great with our pupper and who does quality work. read more

People usually ask me, " Do you go to Petsmart or Petco?" I answer right away with Petsmart. It's like the Coke versus Pepsi argument. To each their own, but my experiences at Petco, and I am referring to the new one at the Village hasn't been great. I like my Petsmart because not only do I feel appreciated but our Siberian Husky loves how he is treated when he is there, and ultimately, it is his satisfaction that counts. So, why Petsmart? Two reasons. (1) Banfield Pet Hospital. It is very close by and the hours are fantastic. How fantastic? How about 7 days a week 12 hours a day and there's emergency after hours. They have wellness plans that are very affordable. (2) The Grooming Department. Here is where Petco failed in our opinion and why Petsmart is where we trust to take Kody. Petco has dedicate itself to have several groomers available on a daily basis and not just one person. There are at least 6 to 7 groomers and assistants working when we bring in Kody. They greet him and love him like their own. This is critical for us and we appreciate how they treat him like a Rockstar. The grooming department can even help you schedule with a favorite groomer and depending the breed they offer a free brush out a week after grooming. There is also additional services like teeth cleaning and nail trimming. If you have a pet that needs to rock the diva look and you're not happy where you are going, make sure to check out Petsmart! Honestly, the grooming was fine, but the customer service was a joke. The lead, Sarah (based on her shirt) and what I believe was another supervisor ignored me for a solid 5 minutes in the grooming salon. I was the only customer in their lobby. All the while, they trash talked their employees, joked about them "having COVID again", and discussing an air vent. Did not once acknowledge I was even there. I finally said, hey, can I get the receipt so I can pay for my dog and I'll come back in a minute? Sarah huffed and handed to me. The other person couldn't even make eye contact. Beyond dissatisfied and upset. I got a small black mouse from this store as a pet. No mention of potential illness, seemed healthy when I was checking him out. After 45 minutes in the car with the A/C blowing full blast and the windows down, he died when we finally arrived home. I'm not sure if it was the carrier they provide that didn't allow him to cool down properly, the stress or that they gave me a sick animal. If this were for a child, this would've been traumatizing. I was upset over this for a solid hour due to being an animal lover -- seriously no one wants to see a new member of the family to suddenly pass away with no explanation. Refunds don't change this nor help, these stores need to be shut down. read more

We bought a snake for my daughter's birthday in early May. Was told it had 3 feedings before it came to the store. It would not need fed again for a week. After a week it would not eat. Went back and asked them about it and they said it was fine and can go a couple of weeks without feeding. After another week of not eating we went back and asked them again about it not eating and they said it could go a month without eating. I asked what happens if we got a sick snake. How do they take care of it. They assured it would be fine and never answered the question. After a month of not eating we went back. On employee said this was the second snake not eating. They said it would be fine and they can go two months without eating. After 2 months we took it to a vet. It had a parasite that was most likely in it when it was bought. Plus it had gas build up. After over $300 in vet bills and now we are tube feeding it to get it's strength up to eat we went back to tell PetSmart what happened. They said there is nothing they can do. They have a strict 2 week return policy. If we would have returned it at the 2 week time, they could have done something. We we never told we could bring it back. Ever. I have brought my goldendoode to the groomers and I left very unsatisfied. He was shaven completely down to the pink of his bone along with bruises. I was charged the full price of the grooming although they did not trim his nails either.. claiming he did not allow (never been a problem before). In audition, the groomer asked me if i had wanted to keep all the fur that was shaven off to use it for something. Please save yourself some pain and your poor precious pet from grooming here. Recently I was visiting friends in Eagle, Idaho and their 2 pups, small dogs ( cocker/poodle mix), had a noon appointment for grooming days before Thanksgiving and were dropped off on time. At 6PM, after checking several times throughout the afternoon as usually they're done in 3 hours, and being told that they were just so busy with the holiday rush, they were told it would be one more hour. They were picked up at 7PM as instructed and both had terrible hair cuts! The muzzle area was different on both side of each dog, along with the ears of both dogs The ear of one had a blunt-straight cut into the hair in the middle of one ear well over an inch long. One can only assume what happened to the tail of one!! Oh, it's there, but nearly shaved right down to the skin right up to the scraggly cut fluff on the end. Yes, I saw these dogs before and after and for sure will NEVER take my dog there for grooming!!! These pups have been groomed for well over a year by licensed groomers and are very use to being groomed. So, what's the point of an appointment at PetSmart? A 7 hour appointment for 2 small pups is totally ridiculous. Let alone, if there are new groomers, customers should be made aware, along with point out and correct flaws they preformed when the customer comes to pick them up. Makes me wonder, what kind of treatment the dogs received during their 7 hour stay! read more

I give them three stars not because of their customer service, because they are friendly, but because they do not give you the correct information on how to care for your fish, etc. I was recently there as a newbie for owning a large fish tank and tropical fish (I've only many betta fish only) and I was told that my betta fish (one only) could live amongst the other tropical and non aggressive fish. I was elated! This lasted about two weeks and now my betta might die because of some weird fungus that he got from being in a tank with other fish like mollies, etc-and yes, my tank is clean! When I called the pet smart in Boise, a young man told me that that is the issue and I was to never mix them all together; that betta fish easily get sick from being around the other fish. FYI, I know we expect people to know what they're talking about when working in a particular area or field, but we can't rely on them to properly do their job. Do your research! read more

Was finally ready to ask for the hamsters qe decided on, to be interrupted and told actually we are closed and you can come back tomorrow. -.- No sorry. Absolutley rude, spoke over me, and let me pick out cages to say oops. We did the till justnow. Absolutley no accountability to their job. One lady when asked a question forced my husband to speak to the expert, who talked for 10 minutes. If I had wanted to be rude and interrupt her back, we probably could have gotten what we came for? No we wont be back in the morning. Horrendous service. Lost my business for life. Sad. I really wanted that hamster. But with business practice liek that, he is probably not well taken care of. Stopped in to get my dogs nails shaved down. Staff was super friendly and helpful!! We also ended up getting a collar/harness. We currently us the gentle leader. But since it goes around her mouth it prevents her from protecting herself against a dog who may try to attack her in the park. The staff allowed us to try the harness out in the store before buying it, which I thought was really cool. I would add one cautionary note however. If you have an aversion to rodents (mice), be advised that they are in the cases/aquariums that are right in the middle of the main isle. My wife thought I should throw this info in to inform others who hate mice so that they may go down the side isles. read more

Great wash and cut on my Brittany dog. Easy drop off; we discussed what I expected and she offered a clear description of all services included in the package, what could be added if I wanted to upgrade (no pressure), and a chart showing the specific length his hair would be. She told me it'd be a 3hr appt and that it may be less if he tolerated the blower, etc, which was great b/c then I knew about how long I had to run errands etc. I appreciated the specificity provided by the staff member in both grooming details description, as well as time estimates - a significant improvement over a prior grooming experience at a different pet retailer. Bonus: I received a "report card" when I picked him up, telling me how he did. Our groomer staff member also reassured me that he was very well behaved for nails and the blower, which I had initially expressed concern about at drop off. I really appreciated feeling like I had a clear understanding of how he behaved and handled the new experience, as oppose to just hearing, "oh he was good." We will definitely be returning to this salon for our dog grooming needs! read more

This was the first time I had made an appointment for my dog to be groomed. I discussed how I would like for him to look when finished, but indicated if it had to be shorter then I understood. However, I specially stated I did not want his muzzle shaved- wanted to keep his "moustache". He was very clean and combed out well when I picked him up, but his moustache was gone, he was trimmed much shorter than worst case, and there were obvious shave markings behind his ears. So poorly shaven there that I needed to shape it up at home. Will I go back? Probably not. Would I recommend? Absolutely not especially after paying close to $75. read more

I always have a good experience with the grooming department. We have a small mixed-breed dog, and he wasn't great at being handled when he first started going in. The groomers gave us tips for how to help him through the experience. One suggestion was to purchase an electric toothbrush, and slowly get him used to the sound and vibration. The purpose was to help him deal with the clippers more calmly. Worked a treat. We see both Emily and Avery, and they both do a tremendous job. I leave our dog with them without a single worry. We have been bringing our 2 dogs here for years, and they love it. Beau is a basset whose nails are so thick that they require special tools to trim. He lays there quietly while they do his nails. Sammy is a high energy Silky Terrier who gets his long fur clipped every spring so that his is easier to groom and it keeps him cooler, and keeps the hair out of his eyes etc. He too loves the groomers at PetSmart in Meridian and he comes home very happy and looking quite dapper, and I know he is so much more comfortable after a good grooming. Their fees seem reasonable compared to other groomers too. I have recommended this service to others and will continue doing so. read more

We've taken our dog to PetSmart to get groomed about 4-5 times. Our puppy is about 9 months old now and we started taking him at 3 months for the puppy trims (to get him used to the clippers)On our 1st visit, they were nothing but nice. But as soon as we started to have our dog get actual haircuts is when the rude comments started. I made sure to book with people that specialized in small dogs and even put in our puppy's age so they knew he was a puppy going in. We have to have our dogs haircut on weekends because my husband and I work full time during the week. On our 1st real haircut visit, when we went to get our dog, the lady who cut our puppy's hair told us we need to come a different day and time because she couldn't handle that our puppy's excitement. It also took her 6 hours and there were chunks of hair that werent cut AND hair that was cut way way way too short. We obliged and brought him in at an earlier time and tried a different day even though the conversation was a little rude. The next time we went back, we received a phone call that our puppy was overly excited again and we needed to pick another day that works around their schedule when it's not so busy. Another 6 hours later, when we went to pick up our pup, the lady working the counter reminded us again that our dog was "overly excited" and we need to find a different time. AGAIN. When I complained to customer service about the LACK of customer service for a job these people have supposedly trained for FOR A YEAR, the lady who called us to clarify told us it was OUR problem and that we DID need to pick a different day and time. She was extremely rude, no compassion for our feelings, and the fact that we even accommodated the first time. If you can't be nice to your customers who are paying $50 for an O.K. haircut, how do I know your respecting my puppy who doesn't have a voice of his own? read more

My dogs have always looked good after picking them up from getting groomed, I will give them credit for that but I am very unhappy with my last visit to their grooming department. I scheduled 2 appointments for my two yorkies both at 12:30 with two different groomers so they would get done at the same time. They told me 3 1/2 hrs. around 4 we went to go pick them up even though they didn't call yet. We didn't see them getting groomed through the window so we figured they were done. We go in to see the guy who was suppose to be grooming one of our yorkies, grooming another large dog. He said it would be another hour and that he gave her a bath but hasn't started her grooming. He also said that my other yorkie was done but had two large dogs ahead of the other one he was suppose to be grooming. I was pretty upset considering I don't understand how you could groom two other dogs before mine when a smaller dog would be much faster than two large dogs. Ended up taking 5 hours. I scheduled my two dogs with two groomers for a reason, I do not like my dogs sitting in kennels all day. I don't kennel them myself. I don't think they let dogs out to potty while there because as soon as I got home one of my dogs peed in the house and they both were gulping down water. I have been going to this grooming place for several years. Not sure what has happened the last few months, maybe some of the kind and courteous people left and the good groomers? The last time I brought my pug in, he was not groomed well at all. I thought they must have forgotten to use shampoo? He just smelled like a wet dog. Not the norm at this place. Thought I would give it another try; thought maybe there was someone new or learning so I never complained. I am a pretty easy going person. So I brought my pug in today to be groomed and shaved, and the woman who helped me, if you could call it that, was just rude. I have never been treated like that by anyone there. Young girl, pierced lip, just a chip on her shoulder. She asked why I was there, so I told her, even though I spoke to Josh a couple of days ago who was very thorough on the phone, so I am sure it was in their system. She said she didn't feel comfortable grooming him because he bit her when she was bathing him last time as well as when she went to get him out of the kennel. Much to my surprise I asked why this is the first time I have heard of it. She indicated that she told me but my response was that I had asked her, "What did she do?" What is this girl talking about? Really, who would even say a response like that? Working in the legal field for 25 years, I know that is something I wouldn't say. She goes on to further say that it's all in their computer and he has bitten several people. Okay, you know those report cards they give out every time. Um, why wasn't it ever on the report card. All they ever said is that he did very well just didn't like his nails trimmed. We know pugs hate to get their nails trimmed. In fact, I usually take him to Banfield inside PetSmart to have his nails done prior to having him groomed, and if not, I have always told them if he starts to snip at you, just don't do the nails; he doesn't like it. I have never written a review on anything...However, this girl should not be working there. Our pug loves the water and always just sits in the tub...No one has ever said anything otherwise. Most people who know pugs know that they don't have a mean bone in their body. That is why people with young children have them as a first pet. Anyway, I usually toss the reports after I read them. I never thought this would have been an issue, or I would have kept those reports. Then I got to thinking. Dogs sense things. Maybe she was rough with him or doesn't like her job and was in a bad mood like she was today. I mean this girl didn't even smile when I came in. Usually I get treated so well and they take my pug into the back and he is happy to be there. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you know the groomer and just request the same ones. I never saw this girl since I have been coming here. The supervisor was very sweet and sympathetic, but I am sure that girl played the victim card. read more
