    McKenzie...graduation.

We started with Positive Pets when our Irish Doodle was just shy of 7 months old. She has now just turned 9 months. She has learned all of her commands and does them with verbal commands or, with hand signals only. She starts the Distractions classes next and we have every confidence that she will also pass these with flying colors. We have had nothing but a positive experience and highly recommend Positive Pets for any new pet owner. After having read through some of the not so positive reviews, I have to say that some of them made me laugh....does any responsible pet owner really believe that you can simply send your pup to a dog training school and do nothing on your own and expect a perfectly trained dog to be the result? Seriously?? You MUST do the homework! Regularly and consistently! It's called, "putting In the effort!" I'm just amazed at some...they wouldn't think of sending their toddler child to a school for 15 hours over three weeks and expect to get a child back that would be perfectly behaved every day and consistently do everything that is asked of them with no effort on the part of the parents....yet, they will brag that their pet is also a "member of the family". For those looking for a safe, caring, and professional dog training school you can't do better than this one. Our trainer is Giovanni. He is wonderful. That said, they are all very experienced and give every owner and pup their best. There are several different programs you can purchase but, again, I emphasize...you must practice at home what you and your pet learn in class if you expect to have a well behaved, happy, pet that is a pleasure to be around.

Positive Pets has been remarkable in training our two pups! Special attention to ensure our deaf pup was successful in learning was truly appreciated! The locations are convenient, the facilities are clean, and the staff are friendly and professional. A special thank you to Tas and staff! We will be happily enrolling for advanced training courses.

Talk about value for the dollar. We initially met with Positive Pets in our consultation for puppy training but when a family vacation coincided we ended up doing the immersion training with boarding. While we were gone we got some beautiful photos and even a couple of videos of our pup learning some great basic commands that we hadn't mastered in our self instruction at home. After returning home there was an in depth meeting to cover the training our fur baby had while we were away. Included in the package we get ongoing training. We had private classes where I learned to be consistent and understand how dogs learn. After completing the private classes we went to a group beginners class where we covered things like heal, sit, stay and place (where you can ask your dog to be when, for example, someone comes to the door so your dog isn't vying for the door as someone comes in). We are now in the advanced distraction training where we are learning how to heal off leash, she can obey commands when I'm not right next to her, return to me when I call her, lay under my legs when I'm at an outside dining experience and not be distracted by other dogs or surroundings. We have had some wonderful and patient trainers. My favorites have been Britta and Taz. We are still in a group class and when we are done with this class we might do the tricks class. Our other classmates are wonderful and off the bat we have something in common, we love our dogs. You do need to practice at home, there is no "miracle" that is going to have your dog obeying like Lassie (if you're old enough to know who that is) without practicing. The trainers are genuinely caring and help with on the spot corrections. They ask for and answer questions during every session. I even texted Taz after our darling pup chewed the banisters and baseboards in our home after being unattended at home for a couple of hours. She went above and beyond by texting me back, letting me know we had done the right thing by not punishing our sassy pup (because she wouldn't have understood the reason for the punishment), gave us some ideas to implement at home and has even followed up with me about our battle of the wills at home. Yes, it feels expensive up front but I cannot stress what a value you get from that investment. I cannot believe how much we have gotten from our weekly trainings and the payoff it has had in our family and our home. If you were to pay for each class anywhere separately, I shutter to think how much it would be. There is even the option of going to the Saturday class in Boise if you're schedule allows for formal training twice a week. And you can tell how much the people care from the people at the desk to the trainers and their hard work in all their classes. This place is amazing.

Ayla was absolutely wonderful as a trainer. She was so positive even with the hard ones (humans). I recommend her a million times over!

We did, however, find a clean, orderly store with a super cute doggy day care going on in the back, even though it seemed like a bit small of a space, the pooches were having a good time. One of them looked just like our little guy back home!

We needed to make arrangements for our very DIVA Siberian Husky, Kody to spend the night away from home. We were going to have upwards of eighteen people for dinner and it would have been way too much chaos for Kody. He loves people and people love him but the anxiety, chaos, and the opening and closing of the front door would have been a disaster. For his sake and the sake of our guests, we needed to find a place for him where he could be safe. I made arrangements online and received a call back from PetSmart. We confirmed all the terms and conditions and squared away the reso When I arrived on Saturday at 9 am, I brought Kody, with his meals, and medical history minus the HIPPA docs, and checked in. I told the team that if there are any issues to text me and I will come to get him. Kody does not spend time with other dogs but does spend time with humans. Like many Huskies, he's fickle, melancholy, moody, and loves strangers more than his family. I was not sure what type of hotel guest he was going to be especially during pet time with other dogs. Kody does have the inclination to be friendly with other male dogs. When I picked him up on Sunday afternoon, the team was raving about Kody, and Sidebar, he does have that effect on people. They wanted him to stay another night or be back soon. I imagined that he was this cool diva rockstar huskie that everyone fawned over and was not snooty to deal with. Like a dog version of Keanu Reeves. We had a great experience and so did Kody.

Dropping her off at the previous groomers, she'd have those sad puppy-dog eyes and a somewhat panicked behavior as I was leaving her. Not like leaving a child at kindergarten, but more like she knew she was gonna get hurt. When I'd pick her up she acted like she was making a jailbreak. She probably would have drug me out of the place if she could. That is not a joke - she would have. Last time after being home awhile, I discovered dried blood in the fur of her ears. She'd been more and more fearful with every grooming drop-off and suddenly I had evidence of why. That was what prompted me to look for another spot and the good reviews convinced me to give Groomingtails a try and we are very pleased with their treatment of our pup and their work. Here's something amazing I have to add: I don't know why but ever since her grooming, when it is rainy and I bring the pup in and I give her a quick dry with a bath towel SHE SMELLS FRESH WITH THE SCENT SHE HAD FROM LAST GROOMING! I am floored. She is about to have her next grooming and that still works weeks after her last grooming. THAT, is lasting results! And her teeth were pure-white when they were done! Now she wants to drink her coffee through a straw,... oh, wait, that's my wife that does that! Anyway, yeah, it cost more but she's treated gently and the job is done well and I don't feel like I am handing her over to be tortured! I just hope their prices don't go up anytime soon! Peace of mind, Baby!

As much as I'd like to think I can keep up on it myself, realistically that just isn't going to happen. The hair grows so fast and is very cottony, so it begins matting very easily. When we first began grooming our dog, we tried a few different locations and quickly learned much like a hair salon; they are not created equal. I myself am a curly girl and I learned long ago, not everyone knows how to cut curly hair. Suffice it to say, the same goes for the curly hair of a goldendoodle. Upon the recommendation of our obedience trainer, we gave Dayna with Bubbles and Bows a go and I must say WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Dayna absolutely knows how to properly groom a goldendoodle, she gave us pointers on the right type of brush and shampoo we should be using in between appointments and recommendations on how frequently he should ideally be groomed. I especially love the convenience of her coming to us, it really is nice to be able to go about my morning and not have to add another errand to the mix. I'll admit, he isn't necessarily excited when she comes to the door. But he doesn't jump for joy when he knows I'm gonna bathe him either, so it's nothing personal. What I do know is he LOVES her to pieces when they come back and his belly is full of treats.
