Jack is a 60# Aussiedoodle and came out very clean, brushed and smelling good ! Brad did a great job and was very professional and helpful. This store is huge.. Every time I go to this petco it's awesome the staff is amazing they help me out when needed. Whenever I go in it's like seeing old friends again. I've bought so many tanks and fish crap I can't feed my kids. They got great deals and good staff I singed up for this membership and it's helped me out so much. Alicia B is out right awful at her job. I booked a grooming appointment, dropped my dog off at her appointment time on Saturday, and was told it might take 3 hours. I was okay with that and willing to pay for the extra time. An hour later, I got a call from Alicia and was told they wanted to shave my dog after I told her no, because it is winter, and she had not done a thing. My dog had not had a bath, a haircut, or anything. Took my dog to another groomer the same day and was told she did not have to be shaved; she got a good bath and a haircut. Alicia did not want to do her job, which I was paying for. She wanted to shave my dog to make her job easier and stress my dog out. read more

Petco Boise Milwaukee Taken my dog there 4 times now and every other time the grooming has been terrible, blow out loose hair thing and a bath, this last time groomer stated she would shed a few mor days. She's shedding worse now than when I took her in non stop, looks like they just bathed he quick brush and that's it it seems. $100 down the drain, won't be back. read more

came in to get my dog's nails trimmed. they said they needed proof of updated rabies vaccines, i drove all the way home to get them and when i came back they called the vet?? they couldn't just call the vet the first time i was there instead of me having to go all the way back home and come back?! in the end they didn't even care that i brought proof of vaccination and turned me away anyway. pretty annoying. go somewhere else. they'll just waste your time. read more

Awful service and awful experience. The groomers turned our 4 pound, gentle, elder dog away twice and we jumped through HOOPS to get everything we needed for our pet to be groomed here only to have to go through even more the next time we came in. I think we dodged a bullet. They were running 3 hours behind, they were unprofessional and didn't provide us with all the information we needed. The whole experience sucked. read more

I was adopting a puppy and on my first visit in, Michael, a dog trainer and employee there spent genuinely 45 minutes walking me through everything I would need as I was next to clueless on how to prepare - he even helped me make color decisions on gear! He wasn't trying to sell me anything and even told me I didn't need a couple things I had picked up. Since then I try and make sure I come in when he's working and he's always truly happy to see the progress my puppy has made and gives me many helpful tips on teaching commands! My experience with all the employees has been pleasant as well and they all get excited to see my puppy when I bring her in. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. The cashier, Trevor, pointed to the direction for me to find a product but I was unable to find it. I found another employee on the floor who pointed to a completely different area. I asked her to walk me to the area since I wasn't having any luck. I was frustrated and instead of her being polite she started shaking and looked angry. She proceeded to tell me don't even look at me that way. I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was but did not have a name tag. She is about mid 20's with short blood hair who is in need of anger management classes. When I got my seven week old chocolate lab I knew I would have to establish a base for pet care needs. I tried several places around town before I went to Petco. What really sold me on Petco was the free puppy play time every Saturday. Large been at 1430 and small breed at 1500. This was a great chance for the Master Chief to get some interaction with other dogs, which is crucial for development. Dyan did great with five pups and had a great attitude about getting puppy kisses and mopping up pee pee. All the staff there particularly Nicole and Stephanie(?) are really nice and knowledgeable. They always say hi to me and the Chief when we walk in and answer all our questions. They have a obedience school and grooming on site. They have all manner of toys, treats, and organic animal products. Without being an over the top boutique, Petco has what you need. I'm gonna keep going back. read more

This review is based on their fish care, as those are the only pets I personally own. Frankly, the rest of the store seems fine. However... It's pretty nauseating to see dead fish, supposedly "feeders," just floating around. Worse yet, to see mats of dead fish stuck to the filters. I can't think of a single animal that would benefit from being fed diseased, dying, rotting goldfish. Even though they're not high-value fish, out of the five times I've gone recently, I've seen dead fish. All five times, in multiple tanks. The rest of the fish seem slightly healthier than the feeders, but not by much. Their bettas are a whole other story--obviously the cups are not supposed to be permanent habitats, but when the water is nearly opaque, it's definitely hard to stomach. I've seen their bettas wallowing in their own feces, obviously dropsied, still on the sale shelf. I've seen a rotting, white-coated molly being eaten by its former tank mates. I've seen an entire oscar--a very hardy fish!--in a similar state, except it was still breathing. Their fish section is a horror show. If you have any kind of pity for small, often mistreated animals, go anywhere else. read more

If I could give less than a star, I would. The staff at this location are incredibly rude and strange. While scanning my items the clerk kept shouting "DUMB, DUMB, DUMB..." when bags were sticking together. That's not necessary. Another time I was in there trying to return some dying fish they had sold me (died before I even got home, a 5-7 minute drive) and they refused to uphold their live fish return policy. After that, the manager went as far as to come up to me in line and put her hand on my shoulder. Absolutely not okay, employees never need to touch customers. I won't shop here anymore. I absolutely love the groomers at Boise Petco. Cathy is the only person I trust with my three dogs. She's the best.

The groomers that were working today especially the man were so very helpful!! My moms dog has been turned away by groomers after his hair cuts because he's doesn't like his paws done and he's not afraid to let them know. He's a little Bichon so he's pretty harmless he's just a brat about his toes. I took him to the humane society and they wouldn't clip his nails because he hadn't been seen in 14 months and their policy is 12 months or have to pay a 65 dollar check up fee so I went to Petco and they not only held him and gave him treats while they clipped his toes they did it with a smile and weren't intimidated by his anxiety. THANK YOU!!! I know where we will be going from now on to take care of all of his grooming needs!!! read more

No stars. I had such a awful experience, I left shaken up and nearly in tears and they never even got the chance to touch my dog. It not only was chaotic with unhappy dogs, but the stylist was so mean I had to make the decision to walk out. She was extremely rude. Snapping at me about the length I was hoping for. I haven't gotten my dog professionally groomed very many times and I was unfamiliar with the process or how to answer her question. Instead of choosing to answer my questions when I tried to explain myself, and get a better understanding of what information she needed from me she chose to condescendingly ask "You've never been asked this before?" And it was clear that she felt that I was dumb, and should have known. The situation escalated quickly with her becoming increasingly hostile, condescending, and mean spirited. And in my opinion if she was willing to treat me that way (and in front of other customers) I certainly could not in good conscience trust her with my dog's care. I will never be returning to Petco for any of my pets needs, ever again. Those are strong words, but after my experience I know my money could be better used somewhere else. read more

My husband & I recently got canaries. I found a really inexpensive (gigantic) cage online that I thought would be nice for a 2nd home for our feathered friends but when we picked it up, it was way too large for 2 tiny birds. Jokingly we "ran to Petco just to have a look"...I mean, you can't just have a big empty cage hanging around! We immediately fell in love w Peaches, now Guapo (the pineapple green cheek conure). Employees Shawn & Ashley were so friendly & helpful. They told us hilarious bird stories (about finding the conures sleeping on their backs, playing dead). Reluctantly we went home (after holding Peaches & checking out all the reptiles w Shawn). Minutes before closing time we just had to go back & bring our little birdie home. Shawn & Ashley were helpful & not upset that our return visit caused them to stay late. They helped us select food, treats, toys, etc for our parrot, & made our experience extra great. They have helped us pick out the perfect puppy food for our sensitive, picky puppy and they worked with us 1:1 to figure out the best training options for him. First time in this PetCo location in several years. What a disappointment. I couldn't locate the treats I was looking for but settled on some others. When I went to the register I waited a couple mins for someone to notice me and unfortunately for myself and my dog- it was Susan. She didn't say hello, she didn't acknowledge my dog or offer her a treat- as a matter of fact the only thing she did say was to correct me when sliding my debit card. She tossed my bag onto the counter and walked away. Not everyone should work retail and perhaps Susan should rethink her line of work. I won't be returning. Customer service is key when there are SO many other options for pet supplies. read more

Not a good experience. The store does not smell clean and when looking at fish with my daughter, there was a plethora of dead fish in multiple tanks. No one greeted us or asked if we needed any help. I went to 4 different local biz pet salons for my Pomeranian, Bella and none of them give her a great haircut, so I decided to try Petco grooming salon and I love the result, Bella had 2 big knots behind her ears and they were able to take care of that nicely and made Bella look so cute and clean and smells really nice and happy. My fiancé and I decided to go get a cute collar for our first cat together! So we looked around and eventually found a good one and so our next stop was the tag! We walk up to the tag machine to check it out and see what we need to do and an employee pops his head out of the office and tell us that the tags are at register one and you check out first then use the machine to engrave them. We thanked him politely. So we make our way to the end of the line and wait for about 15 minutes until it was our turn, we were next in line and the same man waves us over to another register. We have never been there before so we go to his register and realize that there aren't tags there, he proceeds to tell us that we were supposed to go to register one, which is where we were in line at before he called us over. So we go back and as we were turning around he was making fun of the way my fiancé stuttered and I turned around in disbelief with a shocked look on my face. As I looked at him he straight up said "WHAT?" To me as if he was trying to start some petty bullshit. I have very bad anxiety and have trouble going into public let alone having a higher up employee treat me as if I was scum. I snapped into an instant anxiety attack and told my fiancé I just wanted to leave because I was going to cry. He told me that we are almost finished and that we will just have the lady at register one help us the rest of the way. So we waited in line again until it was our turn to choose a tag and checkout. The lady at register who was dark hair middle age I believe didn't even greet us and the entire time checking out the people in front of us she was having a pleasant conversation and smiling but once it was our turn her mood literally reversed. It felt like we were an absolute burden to her. She didn't say one word to us until I selected to donate to a charity fund. It looked and sounded like thanking me for my donation was the lowest thing her ego could ever amount to. She said very quietly under her breath "thank you for your donation" as if it took all she had in her to get those words to come out. Keep in mind the entire time we stayed in the mindset of killing them with kindness but it literally broke my heart how disrespectful they were to us when we just needed some help and direction in purchasing what should have been an exciting memorable gift for our first kitty. We finally finished checking out and headed to the machine and got our tag situated. I'm truly blown away by the lack of kindness and freakin humanity when it comes to a CUSTOMER SERVICE position. We were there between the hours of 2-4pm on 6-30-2020. The man was a bald white man in a collared shirt roughly late 30s. And the cashier lady was around 30 and had medium length dark brown hair. I'm not saying they should be fired but they should at least be known. Horrible experience overall and I will never be supporting this store ever again. read more

So I went there yesterday in hope of walking out with a ten gallon fish tank with all the fixings. I wait over 20 minutes for assistants. When I did get help I made it very clear I was there to buy and needed a little help so has to get all that would be needed. The young man assured that what they where there for. He point me to a few tanks and told me " if you have any questions just ask " so I did . the young lady was rude as hell and condescending and very little help so I asked the young man again. I was clear with him that with a little help I would be walking out with a lot of stuff. About 45 in to this I asked another lady she was more rude then the one be for her, five to six employees and they were more concerned about taking about their weekend partying and complaints of other coworkers they couldn't do the job in a professional manner. I had enough after wasting over an hour of my time we left and went to pet smart, it took a whole 15 minutes to spend $150.00 and the best part they help when I was clear that I would like info and help to get the right tank for my son. Pet smart was so much cheaper , for the same or better things. I will never go to Petco again. read more

I went to this location two days ago to purchase some toys for my dog. I collected many toys and went to check out at the register. I asked them to match their online prices, like I normally do. The checker said, "we do not meet our online prices anymore, too many people were taking advantage of it." She said they would do it one more time for me but never again. So I just went with it. She asked her manager to come enter her code for changing the price and she typed it in and then went to an open register to continue checking out the line of people. When my checker needed the code for each item I was purchasing, the manager started to glare at me and decided to go ahead and wait for every single other person left in the store to check out before helping my checker and I. My checker and I were feeling frustrated after about 15 minutes so she asked her manager if she could help me and she would continue to check out any other people left in the store. The manager finally came over to help and was just rude and disrespectful to me. She treated me like I was a criminal for wanting to pay a third of the price as they have it listed online at Petco.com. Needless to say I will absolutely never go back to this location again and most likely I will not go back to any of their locations again. I have literally never been treated so rudely, as a customer, in my entire life. read more

So I took my lab weimaraner mix into the grooming section today because he's blowing his coat really bad after being neutered. Kyle booked my appointment a few days ago and after telling him what was going on he told me the $27 dollar wash had no guarantee with the shedding coming back but for an additional $20 it would guarantee his shedding would stop because of the type of shampoo conditioner and the drying process. I thought it was a lil far fetched but it was "guaranteed" so I went with it. When I dropped him off at noon the gal there assured me of the same thing and told me my dog would be ready for pick up between 4-5pm. At 4:30pm I hadn't received a phone call so I called the store and they told me he had been ready for over 30 min. I asked why I didn't get a phone call and they said they didn't do that. So I went to pick him up and they sent me to front desk to pay first so I did. Came back to get my dog and they let him walk through large amounts of hair from the other three dogs they were grooming which left him covered in other dogs hair so I brushed it off and grabbed a hand full of his coat and low and behold a ton of his hair came out. I asked Kyle about the guarantee and he told me they can't guarantee anything the dogs going to shed....duh. However, with that being said he was worse than when I took him in. I went to the front desk asked for a refund and got it they were going to give me a full refund but since they did wash him I only let them give me partial. The grooming manager then came out and told me that he hadn't been groomed properly during his 5 hour stay and that if I brought him back tomorrow she'd do it herself and make sure it was done right. SHOULD'VE BEEN DONE RIGHT THE FIRST 5 HOURS!!!!! NEVER GOING BACK AND DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!! read more
