My dog the day I dropped him off compared to the day I picked him up massive weight loss hip bones ribs and shoulders now protruding.

This is one of the more affordable kennels and usually has room for boarding. However every time my dogs stay there they come home thin and sick. My dog was there for 17 days I told them to feed him two cups over his usual daily amount. Picked him up he's sick and very thin. He has some sort of respiratory and eye infection (getting in with vet soon) For $1070 (they also overcharged me currently trying to get a refund) I'd expected better care. They also have a lot of young people who have no knowledge of dogs working with them. The small dog room has couches in it and the dogs rip them apart and eat the foam and batting which can cause impaction and death staff just allows it to happen even using the stuffing as a toy for the dogs encouraging the behavior. I won't use them again.

My dogs are always happy at ESK doggie daycare!

We love Emerald Street Kennels! My dogs are always so excited when we pull in the parking lot that they can barely contain themselves. When I pick them up I can tell they had fun, and they're exhausted from playing so much! My dogs go to doggie daycare sometimes and also overnight boarding when I go on trips. I've been using them for 4 years now and I have always been happy with the service and care of my dogs.

    Hind leg injury.

After completing the mandatory temperament test and passing, we boarded our small dong here for the week while we were out of town. Despite advertising cameras to check in on our dog, the cameras were down all week and we could not. The day we were to pick up our 7 year old dog, we got a call that he was caught "in a scuffle" and had some marks on his ear and back. We immediately went to get him and he was too terrified to come out of the crate they had put him in. Not getting many details about what happened when we asked again, we were told by an employee from the back that he was caught between 2 dogs that were often aggressive with each other. We took our dog to the vet as recommended by the staff. He had 3 puncture wounds. One on his ear which required stitches, one on his side, and a severe one a few inches long on his hind leg. These required surgery to repair, it was that bad. After bringing before and after pictures as well as detailed reports of injuries and treatments it took them almost 48 hours to respond. We weren't looking to tear anyone down or make any fuss. The right thing to do would have been to pay for the injuries and medical treatment that were required. This business did not. They did a partial reimbursement for an expensive procedure. Our dog is not the same dog that we left them with!Highly disappointed in the outcome.

Really stinky, dark, crowded, and dogs looked miserable that were there. I would never board my baby there. Not under any circumstance.

We were told he was healthy. He wasn't. I brought Blue in for a weight check 3-4 weeks after his checkup. He had lost nearly a pound in that time. He wouldn't eat. His behavior had changed. No one followed up on my concerns. I called River City Vet a few days after the weight check because Blue was lethargic and wouldn't eat or drink. We were told they didn't have time for us. I took Blue in to West Vet for IV fluids every day for 3 days. My husband was out of the country and made an emergency flight home from Japan while we struggled to keep Blue alive so he could say goodbye to his favorite human. Blue died in our arms on Easter Sunday, a few hours after my husband got home. He was only 6 years old.

Before we entrusted The Dog House with our dogs, we first came and checked the place out. They have 4 main indoor dog areas. One for large breed dogs, one for medium, one for puppies, and one for senior dogs (they may also have an area for small breeds? I know they take dogs of all sizes). They have separate stall kennels for night time as well as crates if your dog is a jumper (ie: would jump over the stall wall). They also have a grassy outdoor area for the dogs to run around outside (with real grass, not fake turf that can be found other places). The indoor areas are mostly cement floor and cinder block walls with a wooden gate for going in and out. The senior dog area is the exception. Catering to older dogs who would rather be comfortable and sleep, more than play, they have dog beds and soft, comfy couches for them to lounge on. They arranged for us to bring the dogs for a half a day, so they could test them in the sleeping areas (decide if the stall or crate would be better), and see which area would be best for them during daytime social hours. They don't charge for this and I love that they place dogs individually, based on personality and temperament, not merely size. For example, Scout (our Irish Setter), is large. She is by all accounts a large breed dog. However, her temperament is super mild and she does't really have an alpha bone in her body (I've seen her go belly up submissive for small poodles). They opted to put her in with the medium dogs, which was awesome as it kept her with Boomer, who is her very best friend, and allowed her to play with dogs who are a little more her style when it comes to romping. The dogs play as much as they're up for all day indoors and every hour or so outside. Their prices are reasonable (given the level of care) and the dogs are always supervised during play. At night, they only have to go 6 or so hours before someone is there to let them out in the morning (mine go longer at home!). We decided to have them stay. They cared for them for 4 nights and we couldn't be happier. Our dogs came home happy, healthy, and exhausted from all the play. I will definitely use them any other time we are needing overnight care. I also will likely partake in their daytime daycare on occasions when I know, due to our schedules, that our dogs won't get much exercise/play time. Get to it!
