Super healthy, super quality, good food. You will leave feeling like you did yourself a favor by having tasty food but at the same time food that is good for your body. Lots of indoor eating and an outdoor space that makes it really nice to enjoy the sun. The bakery items are also amazing.

On Sundays we Brunch!!! Stopped in for brunch at Northstar Cafe and had a lovely meal. We ordered several menu items that were gradually delivered to our table. I enjoyed a smoothie bowl, a single cloud pancake, a side of sausage and orange juice. My husband enjoyed the sausage and gravy, a side of potatoes, a side of sausage and coffee. Our food arrived hot and the many servers were very attentive. The ambiance was calm and dimly lit which was perfect as the sun was shining throughout the restaurant. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. We've dined at Northstar before and we're aeagerly looking forward to returning.

A good go to spot for me always enjoy. Love the biscuits n gravy, the side of potato's. Nice brunch and lunch. Do be very busy and crowded but it be worth it. Ambiance is cool.

I was shocked by the quality of food at this corner brunch spot. Northstar Cafe is part of the Van Aken District, serving up delicious breakfast bites to the Shaker Heights community. I visited with my cousin and her husband to kick-start the morning, and left with my jaw on the floor. I ordered a honey iced latte and the breakfast burrito. Love that this burrito was served crunch wrap style. Inside this crispy tortilla was eggs, thick slices of avocado, and sweet potato hash-browns. The green verde salsa was also the perfect addition. I will be dreaming of this meal for months. Guess I have multiple reasons to return to Ohio!

My sister, Mom & I came for dinner this weekend and it was fanatic! My first time & boy did I struggle with the ordering process. Next time I'll review the menu off to the side prior to getting to the register. This is an order then sit type spot, with servers floating table to table throughout. Everyone was very helpful & proactive! All the servers were attentive and had superb manners. I chose the Thai wrap with chicken & the other ladies each got the tofu bowl. We each loved our choices!! My wrap was so fresh & the peanut dressing was perfect!!! The ladies said the tofu was fresh and not too firm. The veggies throughout all our entrees were so fresh! We also found out that on your first visit, you get a FREE cookie! I didn't get a pic of it bc we gobbled it right up. I chose the peanut butter one. It had fresh peanuts in a sugary topping atop the cookie. Wow. It was Phenomenal! Can't wait to come back!

I've heard so many great reviews about the brunch, so I'll definitely have to come back and try it. This time, I came for dinner and ordered the fish sandwich with a simple salad, which turned out to be a really good choice. Since it's a cafe style spot, you order at the counter and then choose your own seating. The atmosphere inside is really nice and welcoming.

Menu as of October 2025.

Hubby calls this place "upscale Panera with booze." Food was tasty and plentiful (I had to take home half of my Thai Burrito). You could definitely go on a date here. The service was good, BUT you walk in and put your order in first, then find a table (this took me by surprise and I had to pick something in a hurry).

We were here for brunch a while back, this time we went for dinner and it was below average. Flavors were okay, this is limited service, quick-service type of place. Won't be back unfortunately

The overpriced grilled fish... $2 for a slice of cheese??? Man...

Trout is no longer on the menu...boo hiss... The grilled baramundi fillet is still on but I would never order it again. It is so unappealing visually and they left the dark skin that is under the actual skin. So gross. When I serve salmon or any fish, I remove that yucky part. Oh well for $20, I guess you get what you get. The immature bartender who asked how my food was laughed when I told her about how disgusted I was...seriously??? What the heck is funny? The drinks are unusually measured... oddest thing i have ever seen because they are $12 a drink... just make the dang drink. Why is this place going down??? I used to love it... meh...

Shooting star (orange, carrot, lemon and ginger). Green smoothie (kale, pineapple, orange, banana).

I visited North Star Cafe on September 8th for breakfast/brunch. We ordered the Shooting Star smoothie, the Green smoothie, a chicken and avocado sandwich, and the Fiore pizza. Everything was such great quality, but the smoothies and the pizza were definite highlights. There were a couple of bees inside and I definitely overreacted while eating. Water is self service fyi.

Since we were hungry, we followed another yelper's advice of getting an appetizer since we were warned the mains can take 30-40 minutes. Ordered the cracklin wings--got the ghost pepper dry rub which was recommended by the staff who also reassured me that it wasn't too spicy given that it was also sweet and came with ranch. Tasted great, super crispy on the outside, chicken not the most juicy but still tender. 4/5. Also ordered the truffle orcchiette, pork chop, and heirloom carrots. The truffle orcchiette had a great al dente texture but surprisingly compared to the other yelper reviews, was saltier than expected. 4/5 Favorites were definitely the pork chop and heirloom carrots. The pork chop came without the bone, already chopped up, and was the he most tender pork chop I've had. 5/5 The carrots were so well seasoned, with a great charred taste and came with an addicting puree. 5/5 Service was fantastic, with great recommendations. While the birthday guest was away from the table, I did sneakily ask if they do anything for birthdays, and the staff said that they do a scoop of ice cream. Since the sticky toffee pudding already came with a scoop of ice cream, they were considerate to do 2 cookies instead--the cookies weren't too sweet and reminded me of brownie batter. Sticky toffee pudding was good. 4/5 Restaurant is located in Pinecrest so parking available as free parking in a garage about a block away or as pay by mobile street parking. Ambience is great, perfect for a nice meal for a date or hangout. Overall a great place to celebrate a special occasion due to all the good food choices and staff who know how to treat birthday guests well.

I told him I would arrive within 40 mins and he said to just walk-in. The website says this is fine dining so for someone to answer the phone and discourage reservations was skeptical. When we arrived we were told since we didn't have reservations we had to sit outdoors. Now the forecast said rain in 10mins. So we told the lady at the desk that I spoke to the man that also at the door about reservations. She said no problem we waited about 10 minutes and we were seated. Our waitress Abby was amazing! I wanted a wellness drink and they were all out but she suggested other mocktail options. She then asked if we wanted tap water or sparkling bottle water. I was confused that they don't have filtered water. We got the tap and it smelled like sewer. We then asked for a bottle of sparkling water. And realized the glass cups smelled bad. If you want a wellness drink arrive early when they open around 11am. It was 1pm when I ordered my food. I ordered the Farmer's breakfast, it came with Two eggs any style, choice of crispy bacon or chicken sausage, grilled sourdough, potatoes. The potatoes were crumbs and left overs, a scoop of potatoes. For a $19 meal I couldn't believe what I was being served. The chicken sausage was amazing! The sourdough bread was grilled with no oil or butter. I asked for jelly thinking they would have compote. Instead they have mini jars of jelly. The main difference is that jam is a shelf-stable, fruit-puree preserve made with high amounts of sugar and added pectin. Compote is a chunkier, less sugary fruit sauce cooked quickly without pectin and meant to be eaten fresh. My husband had the Last Chicken Sandwich, which he said was good but the sandwich didn't come with a side just a $18 chicken sandwich that tasted wonderful.

I appreciate greatly from them that you can select in your reservation which zone of the restaurant you want to sit in. Service has been very good when we've been there most recently Corinne I believe her name was was very friendly and helpful and did an amazing job managing many tables some with difficult customers. One note, NOT a negative to me but may be noteworthy for some: I don't think Gigi's is a spot for kids or large family events with kids, unless they have a private dining space I'm unaware of. Space between tables is tight and the space overall is not huge but they make great use of the space. The staff are extremely efficient and there are many of them moving with trays at any given time, it's absolutely not a spot to walk around with a toddler if they get bored at the table. The chairs for example are also small so don't expect a giant family size booth here. Again these are positives to me but just notes!

For entrees, we had the signature lasagna that was fantastic and a special from what I remember was short rib and couscous. Everything was very delicious. The only downside coming to this wonderful restaurant is parking. I had to park two streets over and walking on icy and snowy sidewalks was not pleasant.

Then I got the sandwich, and I was like, actually, $17 is a more than fair price, LOL. For a second, I attempted to eat it with my hands, but its size made it an unwieldy experience. So I ate it with a knife and fork. And it was DELICIOUS. The sandwich came with a big piece of crispy fried chicken that the bun could barely contain. The chicken was fried fresh, so it was hot and juicy. In addition to being hot in temperature, it was hot spice-wise. It came with candied jalapeños, soy chili jam, pickles, and Sriracha. The spice was balanced well with some nice sweetness and a tasty kale slaw that added some brightness to the sandwich. Even the bun itself was delicious. The manager was explaining they make everything fresh and offered to answer any questions I had. I took a look at the specials then decided on a two piece crispy tenders meal. It came with a jalapeño corn muffin. It was 10 dollars and I chose a chocolate chip cookie with caramel and pecans in it because, why not. My chicken was delicious. I chose hot honey sauce because I was curious. It was so spicy and cleaned my sinuses right up. The sauce came on the side, thank goodness for that. The muffin was OK. It would have been better warmed. The cookie: sooooo good. Because I was being nice, I gave my kid a piece, but next time I will eat it in the car before I get home, like the pros do.

Eight (!) years ago my friend recommended her favorite place - The Fairmount. She emphasized that…read morethe ambiance and cocktails are something to experience. Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!
