A good go to spot for me always enjoy. Love the biscuits n gravy, the side of potato's. Nice brunch and lunch. Do be very busy and crowded but it be worth it. Ambiance is cool.

Very chic looking place with open kitchen, pretty lamps and wooden accent wall. We were here for weekend brunch and this place was lovely with friendly staff, great food and beautiful vibe. You enter and order at the counter and then get a table. We were not planning on desserts but while ordering our food, they got fresh cookies and we had to order two. It was definitely the best decision of the day. Portions are good here and dishes are well prepared with perfect combination of textures and tastes. I especially loved the sweet potato hash. Frittata was good too. We also had hot chocolate and hot apple cider... Perfect for the cold January morning. Overall we liked this place and highly recommend it.

I was shocked by the quality of food at this corner brunch spot. Northstar Cafe is part of the Van Aken District, serving up delicious breakfast bites to the Shaker Heights community. I visited with my cousin and her husband to kick-start the morning, and left with my jaw on the floor. I ordered a honey iced latte and the breakfast burrito. Love that this burrito was served crunch wrap style. Inside this crispy tortilla was eggs, thick slices of avocado, and sweet potato hash-browns. The green verde salsa was also the perfect addition. I will be dreaming of this meal for months. Guess I have multiple reasons to return to Ohio!

My sister, Mom & I came for dinner this weekend and it was fanatic! My first time & boy did I struggle with the ordering process. Next time I'll review the menu off to the side prior to getting to the register. This is an order then sit type spot, with servers floating table to table throughout. Everyone was very helpful & proactive! All the servers were attentive and had superb manners. I chose the Thai wrap with chicken & the other ladies each got the tofu bowl. We each loved our choices!! My wrap was so fresh & the peanut dressing was perfect!!! The ladies said the tofu was fresh and not too firm. The veggies throughout all our entrees were so fresh! We also found out that on your first visit, you get a FREE cookie! I didn't get a pic of it bc we gobbled it right up. I chose the peanut butter one. It had fresh peanuts in a sugary topping atop the cookie. Wow. It was Phenomenal! Can't wait to come back!

    Menu as of October 2025.

Hubby calls this place "upscale Panera with booze." Food was tasty and plentiful (I had to take home half of my Thai Burrito). You could definitely go on a date here. The service was good, BUT you walk in and put your order in first, then find a table (this took me by surprise and I had to pick something in a hurry).

I've heard so many great reviews about the brunch, so I'll definitely have to come back and try it. This time, I came for dinner and ordered the fish sandwich with a simple salad, which turned out to be a really good choice. Since it's a cafe style spot, you order at the counter and then choose your own seating. The atmosphere inside is really nice and welcoming.

We were here for brunch a while back, this time we went for dinner and it was below average. Flavors were okay, this is limited service, quick-service type of place. Won't be back unfortunately

We had a good experience at Northstar Café overall. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and made with quality ingredients--you can tell care goes into what they serve. They pride themselves on farm to table organic ingredients. Everything we ordered tasted good and was satisfying. The service was very good--friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which definitely added to the experience. One thing to note is the ordering setup. You order up front rather than at the table, which felt a bit rushed and didn't leave much time to fully review the menu. Combined with a dinner menu that's fairly limited--mostly salads and burgers--it may not appeal to those looking for a more traditional sit-down dining experience or a wider variety of options. While the food is solid, nothing stood out as especially unique. That said, it's a cozy spot with reliable food, good service, and a nice atmosphere, especially for a casual meal or brunch.

The overpriced grilled fish... $2 for a slice of cheese??? Man...

Trout is no longer on the menu...boo hiss... The grilled baramundi fillet is still on but I would never order it again. It is so unappealing visually and they left the dark skin that is under the actual skin. So gross. When I serve salmon or any fish, I remove that yucky part. Oh well for $20, I guess you get what you get. The immature bartender who asked how my food was laughed when I told her about how disgusted I was...seriously??? What the heck is funny? The drinks are unusually measured... oddest thing i have ever seen because they are $12 a drink... just make the dang drink. Why is this place going down??? I used to love it... meh...

Shooting star (orange, carrot, lemon and ginger). Green smoothie (kale, pineapple, orange, banana).

I visited North Star Cafe on September 8th for breakfast/brunch. We ordered the Shooting Star smoothie, the Green smoothie, a chicken and avocado sandwich, and the Fiore pizza. Everything was such great quality, but the smoothies and the pizza were definite highlights. There were a couple of bees inside and I definitely overreacted while eating. Water is self service fyi.

The restaurant is beautiful, with an upscale feel that makes for a nice dining experience. The service was also excellent--friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our visit. We started with the Buffalo Cauliflower and Chicken Potstickers as appetizers. Both portions were a decent size, but the cauliflower was unfortunately very greasy, which made it difficult to enjoy. The potstickers were better, but neither appetizer was particularly memorable. For our entrées, we ordered the Strawberry Fattoush Salad and a Heckburger. The burger was solid and enjoyable, but the salad was disappointing. Fattoush salads are typically packed with fresh ingredients and bold flavors, but this version was mostly romaine lettuce and lacked the vibrant flavor profile we expected. At $14, it also felt underwhelming for the price. Overall, the atmosphere and service were the highlights of our visit. While the food was okay, it didn't live up to the restaurant's upscale ambiance or pricing. There are plenty of dining options in the area, and based on our experience, I think there are better places to spend your dining dollars.

This time, I brought my family along for lunch, and it did not disappoint! We took advantage of their happy hour specials, which included half-off pizzas, select appetizers, and drinks. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was delicious. We also ordered the whipped feta, which was simply divine and a must-try. For our entrées, one person ordered the pepperoni pizza and really enjoyed it. I had the sausage pasta, which was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly light while still being incredibly satisfying. The third entrée was the Thai noodles , and it was another hit. Everyone commented on how fresh and well-prepared their meal was. The service, as always, was impeccable. We were greeted immediately and seated right away. What really stands out about this restaurant is the teamwork. Everyone pitches in, whether it's bringing out food, clearing plates, or noticing your water glass is getting low. It doesn't matter if they're your server or not--they make sure you're taken care of, and that level of hospitality really makes a difference. The restaurant is also spotless, and I love that the open kitchen allows you to watch the team preparing the food. It adds to the overall experience and shows how much care goes into every dish. Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!

I usually don't like mussels but the sauce was super flavorful and the mussels were tender. 5/5 Never had a bone-in pork schnitzel ($42) and while it was pricey, it was quite the size. Definitely couldn't finish all of it, so had leftovers to take back. 4/5 Service was decent, good recommendations. Small cozy atmosphere. Parking available as free street parking. Overall a little pricey but nice food in a cozy place.

Top 5 dining experiences…read more The ambience is adorable and cool. Comfortable. The music is sort of loud but I guess that's the East 4th vibe The service and the food are tied with no way to out rank Service made us feel comfortable to ask endless questions. Try all the things and take our time enjoying it all. We shared everything our favs were the carrot murahamara, the farmer cheese dip, the burger box, the cabbage We had so match food this is a dream to come and have the opportunity to taste so many dishes and flavors While the cocktails are on the pricey side I expect they are comparable to the area especially with the neighbors I will reco Cordelia for a long time!

It was busy without seeming crowded. The space was spacious, well decorated, unique and made good use of space. The bathrooms downstairs were artsy and in good taste! Menu was kind of limited but I have a feeling they try new things all the time so it was exciting to pick from. Too bad they ran out of some things when we went. I ordered the fried chicken dish which was fried to perfection, well seasoned and paired interestingly with pickled veggies. The portion was tiny but on par with something I would expect in a place like this. I also ordered 2 oysters for $9 which were the tiniest oysters I've ever seen. Sure, they were good but I would not get them again. My girlfriend ordered a canned non-alcoholic drink for $6 (way too expensive for a soda!) and the brussell sprouts. They were good but there was only 4 of them! Our server gave off a "I'm too cool for this gig" and dismissed my order when I asked for the chicken. He recommended the lamb which uh, was almost 3x as expensive as the chicken and not something I wanted as a light late dinner after a show... My friend's SIL worked here so she was warm, welcoming and gave us a great seat. So yeah, it's not the best restaurant in Cleveland or anything but there is something to the hype and if I do get the chance, the brunch looks amazing!
