I came here for a birthday brunch and was able to get a free entree! The food was filling and the server was very friendly. He helped me get the free entree in for my birthday. This brunch spot is a cozy nook close to Kerrytown. There were plenty of leftovers because the portions were huge! Nice spot to celebrate with a loved one.

Great food, cozy atmos! Short walk from the train station. Comfy booths and quick food! I had a patty melt which was literally the best I've ever had. Small glasses of ice water, no straws (no biggie!) Pancakes were big and fluffy (and it was a short stack). They were really busy in the late morning but worth it! A little pricey but the food was very good. Good service! Brandon was my waiter and he was quick, friendly and attentive!

Solid breakfast/brunch option in Ann Arbor! Ambiance & Service: It took around 30 mins to get seated on a busy Sunday. The patio area is screened in and very cozy. Our server was attentive and food came out relatively quickly! Food: Kitchen Sink Skillet - very filling and tasty! The hash browns were perfectly crispy. The biscuit on the side was very soft and fluffy! TL;DR: can have a bit of a wait, but solid food overall. I enjoyed the Kitchen Sink Skillet with a biscuit!

Visiting family in Ann Arbor and wanted breakfast food. Northside Grill is a great spot. It was very busy and we had to wait maybe 15 minutes for a table, and it was very small which means a wave of cold air whenever the door was open. The food was pretty good. Attentive staff and a quaint atmosphere inside.

Love Northside Grill! This is one of my favorite diners in Ann Arbor. I have pleasant memories of coming here over the years with friends. I really love the blueberry oat bran pancakes here. The omelettes are also very tasty. I usually like to ''make my own" where you can pick three or more ingredients out of a list to customize your own omelette. There's also a nice outdoor seating area and bike rack nearby available. Service was friendly. The ambiance is chill and casual. Good spot to hang out with friends and family. Will definitely be back!

Morning Crab

I love going here! I tried the morning crab with turkey bacon and highly recommend! The Burton tower is also a classic that I recommend for your first time. Service is very quick. It's a local favorite so it gets busy on the weekend especially but the wait is usually not too long. Either way, I dont mind the wait! Very classic diner feel when you enter and there's a covered patio for more space. They also offer a free meal for your birthday with ID.

Finally got the chance to go here, and I'm glad I did! It gets very busy on weekends, so expect to wait a bit. However, they have a good wait system with a pager, which I appreciate a lot. The service was excellent. It is a smaller place, so the servers and staff can get to everyone pretty easily, but they are on top of it. They tend to every table, and treat every person there with respect and do so with a smile on their face. The food was good - classic breakfast food. They do have a parking lot there, but it will fill up on weekends. Park across the street!

I've always passed north side grill but never tried as my experience at dining at diner were that the foods are typically very heavy and greasy, and I don't always feel great afterwards. Notthside grill was an exception to this we ordered the Big Easy skillet which had fresh dusted veggies and protein. The mushroom and onions were just sauted to right level where it had a nice crunch and chew. Generous portions great customer service, located right next to beautiful trails allow for perfect Sunday breakfast and walk! I will be returning to try more items on the menu!

Came to the Northside Grill On a Thursday morning. At 10 o'clock it wasn't very busy. We were seated and proceeded to get a fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. This home feeling restaurant has a lot of options to choose from. The omelette was fluffy and savory.

My friends and I had an AMAZING experience here! Food was 10/10 with excellent portions, staff was friendly, and the overall ambiance was so nice and cozy with Christmas music playing in the back:) Definitely recommend Northside Grill!

A perfectly nice, if ordinary, brunch and grill. A decent alternative for days when the wait at Angelo's is way too long.

Service is good. A choice to go when other restaurants haven't opened yet early in the morning.

It feels like a diner in some small town, though it's only just outside of downtown. It's wonderful.

Breakfast is their game and they've got it down. Many reviews raved about the French toast so we both got it. Meh, it was ok. It has a cinnamon sugar on it but the type of bread is not something we recognized. Scrambled eggs and bacon were great. Cofee could have been better but really fit in with what you'd expect at a diner. Recommend if you are looking for a fulfilling breakfast that won't break the bank.

Frank's is old school. They have been around forever, essentially. (I grew up just past north…read morecampus, circa 1980s, when it was half cornfields still, and I attended University of Michigan for a professional degree.) They are the quintessential diner in the perfect college town. I would estimate I've eaten there ten times since, say, 1988. The decor exudes the Go Blue spirit. They also have retro knick knacks: a photo of the Three Stooges in cap and gown, saying "Now what?," a vintage Mountain Dew advertising sign, a Scooby Doo mystery van toy model, etc. But if I gave been there for anything other than breakfast, I have forgotten that. So I associate the place with traditional American fare prepared on a griddle, before you start the workday (or classes). This weekend, my wife and I are passing through town. Last night, she said, where should we eat in the morning. I gave her a few choices. She said, oh, Frank's of course. We had a stranger take a photo of us outside, for old time's sake. I had corned beef hash, two eggs, hash browns, and toast. My wife had pancakes. Both our dishes were large enough for us to request boxes and a bag. We are set for tomorrow. The corned beef was how I like it: it is not some fancy homemade preparation, but the type out of a can, fried up (I would bet it is in fact homemade, but in the style of out of a can, which is even better). The pancakes are exactly as you would imagine if you grew up in the States and have ever eaten at this type of establishment. We noticed they have specialty versions, such as with peanut butter. The patrons are a mix. One table was blue collar rank and file, talking about their union and ensuring folks don't steal their jobs. Another table was four college guys, and of the different backgrounds you would hope (I would anyway) come together as equals on a campus, including white, black, and Asian American. The server was friendly, someone who either loves their job or does such a good job presenting that attitude you want to leave a good tip; the chef also was outgoing. I hope Frank's continues to be around another 40 years. It belongs to a business type that is disappearing everywhere else.
