Yesterday, we were craving for baby back ribs & we came here to get them ribs! This plate is only $19.95 + tax. A very tasty & well cooked ribs! I asked for well done fries & sides of blue cheese dipping sauce.... I'm a happy & satisfied customer! Our waitress was Luis. He was professional yet still have the friendliness side. He was quick and precisely got our orders and preferences just right! The place was packed! With lots of people sat & waited for their party/ies to be seated. Lots of free parking spaces. First off the food was amazing. Everything was hot and fresh when it arrived at the table. The place is big and spacious. The refills are free and the food is inexpensive. NORMS - The end of our delicious breakfast - Diners Near Me - Van Nuys, California

Starting a new thing where I visit diners either big chain or local and I decided to start with norms. I haven't been here in quite some time so I figured it would be a good place to start because I remember my time here was great and it did not disappoint again! I got to this norms after the gym cause I wanted steak and eggs for a post meal workout. I thought of norms! I was greeted by a young man named Luis. He was kind enough to ask where I would like to sit and I chose the counter. I was then greeted by a kind server named Kristina she helped me out with what I wanted to order and even pointed out that they had a new specials menu they just rolled out. I saw the specials menu item that I wanted vs the regular price of the same item and it's a deal! About 3 dollars less which is great! So I got the New York steak & eggs with an extra egg (all scrambled). Hash browns and sourdough bread instead of pancakes. I got it medium! So my food came out and it looked great! I went for the eggs first so the tapatio is had slathered it with and it was decently fluffy. I know it's a chained diner but maybe add a little milk to the scramble to give it a nice fluff. I went for the sourdough and it was nice and toasted and buttery mmmmmmm butter. But the main event was the steak in which it was flavorful and nice and tender butttt I did ask for medium and the steak looked more on the well done side but nonetheless it was still tender which was surprising! It's understandable when you've got only two cooks manning the flat top trying to push out multiple orders. Believe me I've been there so I understand the pressure. But the two gentlemen did well! Kristina was very helpful with my meal and time eating there, big shout out to her! Give her a raise or something maybe even free food for life haha just kidding on the free food for life.... ‍ but in any case I enjoyed myself and I enjoyed the room! A lot of patrons coming in for a late lunch and talking and enjoying themselves. The music was cool and the ambiance of the restaurant was relaxing HOWEVER it was so warm in there lol like I was breaking a sweat while eating I noticed this because the fan above me wasn't on but the rest were. Suffice to say the circulation of air in the restaurant wasn't getting to me even though there were four to six big ceiling fans doing its job. I just chose a bad spot I suppose. I definitely will come back here for my steak specials worth it! For me it's 5/5 stars. read more

I am a regular. I go here about once a month. They know my order. Today I showed up after work and sat at the counter for ten minutes. People would walk by and glance at me, but didn't say anything. I had to flag down the host to see who my waiter was. She hardly said anything and pointed to a guy in the back. It was so weird in there that I thought for second I wasn't wearing pants. I waited two more minutes. My waiter passed by me without saying anything, so I left. I can't recall ever being ignored like that. read more

I sat at the bar on Monday Aug 18th, service was quick and the server was very attentive. However, I couldn't help but notice the unprofessionalism & disrespect from what looked like the head chef, to his fellow coworkers. It was extremely unpleasant to hear the way he was treating his employees all while customers (myself included), were trying to enjoy our meal. The most upsetting part of it all is that NORMS is supposed be a dinner with family friendly environment. That behavior is the last thing a family would like to hear as they enjoy their meals. He's not up to part to carry that role if he's simply going to be rude to his coworkers,hopefully management does something.Matter of time someone takes it to HR or corporate. read more

I decided to splurge but still norms 'is not a steak house so I should have known-thus 2 rather than 1 star. ! remember my dad enjoying bone-in (perhaps not from norms but that's not the point.) I got the porterhouse. The first bite was pure gristle. The next bite was chewy, not flavorful and it is in the fridge cuz I couldn't eat it. I could have made eggs at home. The potatoes were ok. Date: December 10, 2022 Was in the mood for pancakes and was just about to make them when hubs said 'let's go out for some pancakes'. Since he's not a fan of IHOP or Denny's we decided to stop by Norms! We just had our little guy born in November so we needed a family friendly restaurant and this place was perfect! We've been to a couple other locations before but this was the first time over here in the SFV. Arrived around 10am and it was super crowded! They have a waiting area to your left next to the bar with comfy sofa seats. Signed our name on the waiting list and proceeded to wait. They were calling names so quick that it only took about 15 mins before we were seated. The workers are so friendly and everyone is just so welcoming. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious and the rib eye was as great as you can get for Norms! We got some Cajun tator tots that went perfectly with the hash browns (bc there's no such thing as too much potatoes). We ordered chicken wings as well since the hubs loves chicken wings. The waitress was super attentive and refilled our waters and made sure we were taken care of periodically. Once finished she gave us the bill and boxes to pack up leftovers and then we headed to the front cashiers to pay our bill. Everyone is just so friendly that it makes you feel at home. Even though the place is opened 24/7, you feel the workers actually enjoy their job and are happy to be at work on Saturday morning. Their parking lot is HUGE! Much larger than the actual capacity of the restaurant. We popped in on Sunday afternoon and the place was PACKED. We put our names down and asked about the wait. After about 20 minutes we inquired about an estimated wait time and we were told that the hostess at the front is separate from the person managing the tables and that she couldn't give us an accurate time? But that it would be a few minutes. It just seems like they were slammed and didn't have a cohesive flow for seating parties. Several people came in later and were seated before us, and I understand because they were smaller parties of one or two people. But it would have been nice to have some clarity or at least an estimate so we can make our plans. We were finally seated and we were quickly able to place our food and drink order. My only issue was that our food (the adult's entrees for myself and my husband) came out and then it took an additionally 15 minutes for our children's food to come out. We of course fed them from our plate while we waited for their food to come out but if you've ever dealt with hungry toddlers, they would much rather eat the fries and Mac and cheese they requested versus mommy's veggie omelette. Personally, I wouldn't give this location another visit. I've been to other norm's and the food was better. read more

We today dad ended his fast at his favorite diner, hoping for fresh hot biscuits and gravy......only problem is they ran out of gravy, sad old man face. He pouted for a minute and then got eggs and bakey instead. I always get the soup. It warms my heart especially with a shot of tobasco in it. The shakes and burgers are great. Tonight we received excellent service from Kristina. She was very attentive and super friendly, you would think you were outside of California. Our family comes to Norma whenever we're in the mood for pancakes, steak, and diner food. The prices are always fair considering the quality of the food and service. My regular order is their pancakes which are among the best in Los Angeles. The porterhouse steak and eggs is an excellent value at around $22 including two pancakes. Highly recommend Norms... Maybe look for Kristina and ask to sit in her section. read more
