I ordered online a small thanksgiving dinner from Norms Restaurant located at 20420 South Avalon Blvd., Carson, CA 90746. I was worried at first because the order was under my first name. The executive manager, Mike, was extremely reassuring that my order would be found. When my order was located and packaged up, he assisted me to the lobby to wait for my transportation to arrive. When Dial A Ride arrived, he assisted me to the taxi. He kept an eye out for the taxi. He assisted me by handing me my seat belt, and He explained where he put my coffee. If it were not for him, my experience at Norms would not have been one that I'd go back again for. I've only been here for breakfast. But what a breakfast it was. Their pancakes are fabulous. It beats another spot that's famous for their pancakes. By by any means. They're omelettes to me are filling and fluffy and flavorful. The service was outstanding. And it wasn't too noisy. The coffee is even good. And the hashbrowns were actually good. I love norms and I live quite near it. I always look for an excuse to go back. Definitely a good place to bring the family for a nice breakfast. I haven't had their dinner yet, but I have to say their breakfast can't be beat. read more

I don't know how the food was, I never received it. I met 2 friends and they were already drinking coffee. I sat down and 20 mins later no one had come to the table. My friends noticed our waitress having her breakfast. We finally got someone's attention who brought me coffee and took our order. 20 mins later still no food, no one had even come to the table to refill our coffee or apologize for lack of service. We noticed food just sitting on the counter that no one was picking up. Our waitress finally finished her meal and walked past us to go to the front without even acknowledging us. Finally my friend went to cashier to let her know and we would pay for our coffee but we were not waiting any longer. She said no problem the coffee was on the house. We left. read more

I've noticed that some of the employees seem a bit distracted, which is making it difficult for customers to get the help they need. It's also a bit puzzling why there's a designated area for customers to check out when it comes to orders places "to-go", but it's never being used. This means that customers have to stand in line at the front of the store, which can be quite crowded. Once they're in line, they have to wait for their order to be prepared, which can add to the overall wait time. I recently got out of line because I was tired of waiting just to place an order. I think the store could do a better job of utilizing their organizational skills to make the checkout process smoother for customers. read more

Food: They served us undercooked meat. After biting into it really made us sick. Our waiter offered to replace our meal but after that we didn't have an appetite. Although we weren't charged for it, we were disappointed because we had been hoping for a satisfying meal. I called to make a pick-up order. The young lady asked me to hold for a moment. That moment lasted over 20 minutes. I could hear her interactions with the in-store customers and determined that the location was busy. When I arrived at the Carson location I informed the young lady that I was still on hold and had been on hold for almost 22 minutes (21 minutes and 52 seconds) trying to make an order. She simply said, may I take your order. I thought it odd that there was no apology. An apology goes a long way. I am still waiting on my order that I paid for at 1:55 pm and it is now 2:32 and still not ready. Food came out at 2:35pm and was cold. Apparently it had been sitting for a while. So irritated with this place. It is always the same here. read more

This place during the summer time has the Rib special, you may either order the half rack or the full rack and it comes with coleslaw and fries. There are other specials that they have as well and there are many options to choose from their menu. This place also makes good shakes and sundae and they have a variety of desserts to choose. I have had the Cobb salad from here and it was good too. Their is also a Senior menu if you are up in age. This restaurant in the city of Carson, California is fairly new, it opened near the beginning of 2019 There are lots of tables and booths to sit at and lots of counter seating as well. I have had the eggs and pancakes here with bacon and hash browns , the buttermilk pancakes are fluffy. The place is clean and the staff is always friendly and professional. This is my first time at this location. I came in wanting a New York steak, baked potato with vegetables which I thought was going to get string beans but they did not have string beans. They had squash. I asked if the vegetables were steamed the waitress said no. I asked well how are they? She said they are sautéed. I said good. I said do they come with a lot of oil? She said no. But when I finally received the meal, the steak looked not too good, but I was willing to eat it because I was hungry then I noticed that the vegetables were very early. I asked the waitress about the vegetables she said no we don't have any. I said can I have something else cause it has a lot of oil. She said the only thing I could give you tomatoes. I don't eat tomatoes like that. I said can I have a salad she said no so I said well then I don't want the plate anymore. She said oh OK. Well, you want me just take this off the check. Shook my head and then proceeded to say you could take it off. My party had their meal. We asked for fries instead of hashbrowns. It came with hashbrowns and not the fries. The fries came after asking for them. Fries they were cold they, as if, been sitting for a while. I'm not sure if this is any other peoples experiences. But this was my experience. I literally sat and watched the other party eat their food. And I had none. This is a very bad customer service experience. I have been in a Norm's in a few years and should not have had this level of service. Why couldn't I have a salad? I don't eat oil vegetables. Even with the baked potatoe I'd would have eaten I don't use much butter. I have this a 2 star rating for the other party. They enjoyed their hotcakes meal. read more

To start with, if you want to be seated for 4 or more. You have to wait for all party's to be there. Even when the restaurant is not busy and tables are empty . I ordered my food the same time, my friends did. Mine came after my friends were almost done. I told her to make it to go. I came to eat with my friends not alone. She couldn't even clear the used plates off the tables to make more room. Had to ask for coffee. Was lucky to get two cups. Service and getting the food to customers a lot sooner than waiting more than 25 minutes. Plus theres restaurant wasn't that busy so we should have received our food a lot sooner and then the waiter forget to bring our appetizers and bring our entrées before our appetizer. read more

This location has been the best norm's experience I've ever had hosts were welcoming there was a wait but nothing to bad some people were getting angry at the hosts but it's not their fault people need to realize they just give you an estimated time based on customers who just eat and leave but there's lots of customers that eat and then stay chatting at their table not realizing they're holding up the incoming customers anyway after about 20 minutes we were seated it took awhile for our server to actually come to our table but it's understandable so when she did arrive we placed our drink and food order to avoid waiting around enjoyed our food payed and headed out next time I want breakfast I'll have to come back to this norms read more

We ordered breakfast catering for 50 teachers and school staff, and everything was fantastic! The food was delicious, the price was perfect, and everyone enjoyed it. We even had enough left over to treat our football players. Yessica and Mike were incredibly helpful and made the whole process easy. I am a frequent patron of Norms and have been a consistent client for 16 years. I didn't give 5 stars as this location missed the mark on one item described below. My family and I frequent this Brand as our family go to. Food is always delicious and served hot. My server was Lourdes and she was very knowledgeable on the menus and really good about offering me add-ons. She was very friendly and always keep my coffee cup full. Portions this time around were off and I understand that maybe a training and development subject for the cooking staff, but besides that, the food quality, presentation and flavor was consistent and delicious. I ordered the T-Bone steak and Eggs and part of my steak was missing, however flavor, presentation and cooking the steak to my liking was perfect as always. Staff was amazingly wonderful from the moment I walked in, the restaurant was clean and warm. I absolutely love how the staff from beginning to end is so professional and kind. Great job Carson team! Went here for dinner last night 6pm Last time for sure. Wife and I both ordered T-bone steak. No baked potatoes, "ran out" (it was 6pm) Evidently steaks are cooked earlier in the day. Regardless how your order Veggies were a pile of almost cooked cold carrots, not like the picture that shows a variety. Soup was cool, not hot or warm. Salad was actually good. The only good thing beside the salad was our server Karen. She was nice, apologetic and efficient. Will never go back though. It was the worst meal I have had in a very long time. Not necessarily the most efficient server. Kept on missing items or forgot something and had slight attitude when prompted for items. Took 3 hours to complete our meal. He did seemed overwhelmed so probably a by product of the environment. I ordered the fish and chips, fish was ok nothing special. The fries were not seasoned and not the best quality, they were ok. First of the latina lady that came to tell my mother if she going to pay for all the food that was ordered to the table needs to check herself because I will come down myself to the store and talk to her like the trash she is for speaking to my mom like she is dumb. My mom didn't know that the tablets on the table are for ordering food, she doesn't under stand technology in this age in day. She just thought it was an entertainment tablet for guests. my daughter was playing on it but they didn't know it was for food ordering. With that being said the waitress came up to my mom in the most rude way to tell her what is up is she going to pay for the food or what. Instead of saying I notice this food being ordered are you sure you ordered this? I want Norms to take action against this lady asap if I don't hear back from Norms ya best believe I'm doing down and speak to her myself. We came to this one instead of the one in Inglewood thinking Carson would be nicer. Nope. First, coffee mug CAME WITH LIPSTICK. Even the water cup was dirty. My dad finished his coffee before getting creamer he asked for two times. I asked for the salad to come with extra cheese which I thought was easy request and it came with no dressing lol. Also the soup and salad came AFTER the entrees. We sat for 4 minutes with our entrees with no utensils which makes no sense. I know you're don't come to Norms for fine dining but I feel like clean cups and utensils are a bare minimum. The waitress was not friendly and really didn't care about our concerns. When we showed her the mug she didn't even raise an eyebrow so I just kept everything to my self so things didn't get worse and I didn't want to be a Karen. Yes we tipped, but sadly I'm down $70 for a terrible meal and service. read more

Was there on Saturday 17 of August had the worst experience we got there about 8:30 A.M we got seated it took about 10 min. To get asked what we wanted to drink coffee came about 5 min. Later we say and waited to get order taken about 15 min. And during that time no coffee refills order taken and waited about 40 min to get our food which was not cooked as to our spwcifications and during the 45 min wait no coffee r3filla again I had to get up and ask for the refill from another waiter. The restaurant was pretty empty and usually there really good but today it was horrible I will not be returning or be recommend it.
