I came here at 12am because this was one of the few places open late in the South Bay. When we came in, we were placed in a corner where no one could see us. The table was also a bit dirty, some crumbs here and there and a sticky residue at one end of the table. I had to ask for napkins and clean the table myself because they were kind of understaffed late at night. Our server was nowhere to be found at first and I had to go flag her down. Service was okay. Our server had an odd attitude, I guess because it was late at night and she was tired? The food was terrific though which is why I will give them 4 stars despite the dirty table and slightly bad service. We got the bigger better breakfast. Steak was juicy and cook as ordered. The hasbrowns were great because we asked for them to be extra crispy! The turkey melt was awesome! Crispy and toasty on the outside while cheesy and oozy in the middle. Onion rings were perfect! So crispy and well seasoned. It went really well with a side of ranch. Tip: you can ask to replace or substitute any item in your meal as you like. Sitting here waiting and the service is long & not great. We were seated for 10 minutes before anyone decided to acknowledge us. We sat at the bar because the wait seemed kinda long but the bar service was no better. We sat another 15 minutes after ordering before the waiter decided to say...should be coming out shortly. Geesh! I understand their busy but the service doesn't have to be crap. Should the waiters be wiping down counters in back with a rag then handling food without washing their hands? Maybe there should be a training on that Norms. I've never been to the franchise so the food will determine if I come back. Ok. So I ordered the Gobble Gobble breakfast that comes with (3) Turkey Sausages, (3) Turkey bacon strips, eggs, hash browns & (2) pancakes. I substituted the turkey bacon for pork bacon & the hash browns for house potatoes. Let me tell you...those pancakes were buttery & melted in my mouth. Man! It was definitely worth my wait. This place is alright. I really used to love Norms but it seems their quality has gone down while their prices went up. The waitresses are awesome, waits are long as usual, but the quality of food is nothing out of the ordinary, except maybe their pancakes. Equating this to a normal American diner like Denny's or IHOP and not some fancy restaurant, I'd give NORMS Carson 4 stars. The place is fairly new and just recently opened up at Carson mall so everything is well-maintained, modern, and clean, which is something I appreciate in restaurants. We came in on a Wednesday night around 9pm with a party of 9. We only had to wait a couple of minutes for our table to get ready. Service was 5 stars. Our waitress was so patient with our party and accommodating. All of our orders were right and the time to wait for our orders was just about right. Food was 4 stars, relative to the typical American diner, steaks were okay, pancakes were pancakes and the deep fried foods tasting how deep fried foods are supposed to taste. All in all, we left satisfied and happy. This was a good place for a quick breakfast. My husband and me were passing through town and wanted omelets. The place was busy, but we were seated quickly. Nothing to complain about. Welcome to Carson Norms!!!! Another great staple in the community. Located on Avalon next to Jersey Mike's, adjacent to Burlington coat factory. Plenty of parking and plenty people waiting to eat. Sunday morning 8 am with a 10 minute wait along with friendly faces upon entering. This place is nice. Same Norms with a modern edge. T.v. s align the wall of the counter area. Not taking away from the aesthetics, but making it more of an appealing comfortable experience. I'm not sure if this will be a permanent decoration, but the balloon designs hanging from the ceiling were super cute and is a great accent to the modern feel. We had the pleasure of having Bertha as our waitress and she was good. Friendly and smiling. My honey forgot to ask for no tomatoes, and when it was served with tomatoes she had no frown or eye rolling when asked if she could remake the hash browns. That's an A in my book. Great job Bertha. Food was great! I ordered the has brown scramble. It was my first time and it was so delish. Perfectly cooked with melted cheese, and bacon. I ordered avacado on the side. This is gonna be my go to. First visit to the new location. Nice to see everything so shiny and new, though we still had a table with a piece of folded cardboard to level one of the legs. We did have a large party (13), celebrating a friend's birthday, which of course posed its own challenges. For the most part, everything was good. A couple in our party had minor issues with the food (slightly undercooked eggs and hash browns, despite very specific requests upon ordering, etc.). Our waitress was probably rather new; though very friendly and helpful, did make a few mistakes. The MOD also popped by to make sure everything was satisfactory. Ok. By far one of the worst ones. It's only 3. You have nothing but 4 tables. You have one male bald server who instead of seating us after greeting us walks away and doesn't bother to sit us. My family has visited this location 3 times, my wife and kids like the food. This is the 3rd time we have received horrible service from a cashier and/or server. Now I am starting to believe it solely based on our AA race. First incident - we were removed for the wait list without being called. Only after asking how much longer did the cashier tell us we didnt answer when she (Hispanic) called our name (we sat inside and she never called). Second incident - the male Hispanic server skipped right by us and helped a Hispanic family that were seated 5 minutes after us. After inquiring who was our server, he said he would be back shortly which was 10 minutes. Third incident - Amilcar took our names for the wait list. After 10 minutes, he called a party of 3 (Hispanic) that was on the list under us. He then called another party of 3 (Asian) that were 2 spots below us. After asking him why we were skipped, he informed us our table was ready but he was seating the other parties first. I asked to speak with a manager, he informed us there was no manager/supervisor on-site. A server provided me a number to contact Yessica - not explaining who this person was. 3 strikes and yours out, I can tell when we a not wanted. After waiting for more than an hour ( as expected because it was Dec 25) Kathleen Miller, who was the manager on site at the moment was called because another party was seated in the table that was for us. When she talked to my husband she was not apologetic at all, she said she have called our name out loud and that we didn't respond but nobody called out our name , they asked the other party directly if that was their name on the paper, they said yes and were seated in our place. The manager was extremely rude when approached with the issue. She then proceeded to seat us in another table, and that's when I told her " You know, an apology goes a long way" she got close to my face and very loud said " first of all!!! merry Christmas !!" After that when we told her her attitude wasn't acceptable she continued to say " She had been a manager for 30+ years, that she wasn't going to apologize and she didn't have to take this" there is a lot more to this conversation which was witnessed by many on staff and many customers because it got very loud. When I asked her for her name she sarcastically said she will even write it down for me. I told her to please stop talking to me in that tone, she laughed and ignored me. She sent a paper with her name,last name and added the phone number of support center. The added information, shows me that she is used to treat people that way and is not afraid of consequences. This person should not be in a management position, managers are supposed to de escalate a situation not escalate it to this level. Nicole and Suzane ( i believethat was their names) , who was one of our servers apologized for something she didn't do and made sure to make us feel welcome. She acted like a real manager should and tried to make it right for us eventhough she wasn't at fault at all. That's the kind of people that should be in the management positions not Kathleen Miller. I do expect something to be done about this, I'll be reaching out to Norms executives to let them know what kind of managements they have in this location that is harming their business. We hadn't visited Norm's in YEARS, so off we went when there was one in the town we were visiting! I must say, the quality and flavor of the food we got (I got a Club Sandwich with ham and turkey), was def well-above average. Little things like "I'd like the bread lightly toasted" and "may I have a side of extra mayo?" Were perfectly accommodated, and was NOT charged extra for the extra mayo (I've been to several restaurants where they DO charge extra.). The coffee was moderately strong, just how I like it. Sooooo...whenever I'm back in that town again, be assured we will return to this Norm's!...oh, and it was exceptionally clean, and appeared to have been remodeled not too long ago. Nice! read more

The food was good but the service was piss poor. It wasn't packed but it took a while for our food to come out. As soon as we were served, our server left to go to break without notifying us. My biggest pet peeve is having to ask for a refill for a cup of water. I tried to get multiple host attention and no one paid me any attention but they made sure to huddle up at the register. Ok, so here's the deal. We are regulars at Norm's and have been for quite sometime. Are they a fancy restaurant? Absolutely not. Do they claim to be fancy? Absolutely not. Are their meals worth the money? ABSOLUTELY!!! On today's visit, I had the Grilled Chicken Fiesta Salad. This salad was HUGE and could easily feed 2 people. It was outstanding, and the presentation was awesome. The ingredients were fresh and the taste was delicious. My husband had the Club Sandwich, and this was also great with lots of goodies piled into the sandwich. One if the main reasons to visit Norm's in Carson is their server, Richard. This man is one of a kind, for sure. He is always, and I do mean ALWAYS courteous, professional and he remembers the customer, their likes and also their preferences. Richard truly shines and he makes the customer feel as though they matter. To the cooks at Norm's - you are awesome. Please keep up the good work. To the servers at Norm's - Remember that you are there to serve the customer, so treat your job with pride. If this isn't what you want to do, then perhaps being a server is not the job for you. And to Richard, THANK YOU for making a difference and for now being in a position to train the Norm's staff to do the same. Every success to you now and always. Modern, renovated location. Looks nice. Came in at midnight so not busy at all. Ordered the Lumberjack breakfast for $13 and I've never been so disappointed to come into a restaurant that looks that good, only to receive the worst breakfast. Server was barely there, only to take our orders, and give receipt. Waited 25 minutes for our food. First, I ordered over-medium eggs, I got undercooked scrambled eggs. Second, the hashbrown was the worst hashbrown I've ever been given. Under seasoned and under cooked. So incredibly bland and lukewarm. Third, bacon was overcooked. Pancakes were given half off the plate... literally. The only thing that wasn't bad was surprisingly the sausage and the water I guess. Definitely not a place I'd come back to. read more
