Out of the two Nordstrom department stores located around Pasadena (Santa Anita/Arcadia and Glendale Galleria), the Arcadia store is the better one. They just completed a very extensive remodel, and have completely redone the inside of the store to make it look hip and cool, and not drab 1980's-looking (like the one inside the Glendale Galleria). The mens shoe and mens clothing departments look great. The interior feels a lot more spacious too after the renovations. Merchandise is very nicely organized and kept that way. The whole store is also always kept very clean. I can definitely vouch for one of the reviewers before me about the well-dressed old gentleman standing at the entrance to the store from the lot greeting customers. I've seen him there quite a few times, especially during the major sales (the Anniversary Sale in July). I don't know what it is, but it adds a classy touch to the place and makes you feel welcome. I'm sure that it is something that used to be done in the glory days of the large downtown department stores. The salespeople working in the mens shoes department really know their shoes. They're not just kids selling pairs of expensive Italian dress shoes. Over the years, I've always had better service and attention in the Arcadia mens shoe department than in the Glendale mens shoe department. These are the specific points I want to make about this particular Nordstrom location. Needless to say, Nordstrom in general (every location) has among the best customer service in the retail industry - a model for everyone else to look at and try to imitate. read more

I went to Nordstrom during its annual sale this year and bought a decent amount of stuff online for pickup at the store, including a pair of Allen Edmonds shoes. Whoever was responsible for completing my online order at the store decided to give me a used pair of shoes with scratches on it, pawning it off like a new pair. When I got the shoe, it was already laced and there were no cloth shoe bags that usually come with Allen Edmond shoes. If the experience ended there, this would have been a 1 star review for a store that advertised a new pair of shoes for nearly 300 but sold me a used pair. But then Matt from the shoe department helped me out. I remember he had sold me a pair of Carlyles that I really liked the year before. He promptly got me a new pair of shoes and gave me some good advice regarding others. Matt gets 7 out of 5 stars for his customer service. Nordstrom, you may be a used car dealer, but you certainly didn't hire a used car salesman with Matt. read more

This gets three stars, because it's in the middle. Usually I get shitty service here in the Men's Furnishings department. Not bad service, SHITTY service. This time was a little better. I came in to exchange something that didn't fit right. The salesman was young, obviously somewhat inexperienced with clothing and fashion and pushy. He kept trying to upsell me some cufflinks (that I wasn't willing to pay $265 for), and claimed he had them himself. Somehow I doubt that, considering that I asked him some other questions and he had to get one of the older sales reps who knew their stuff. This guy does get props for checking in the back and getting me 2 shirts that were 75% off (clearance), considering how it's becoming increasingly difficult to get quality french cuff shirts in-store. read more

I wish I could afford Nordstroms. As it is, I usually just end up walking around and gazing at all the expensive stuff that I'll never be able to buy as a starving actor. That being said, every time I have entertained the idea of purchasing something here, the staff is always really helpful, and I always end up finding what I want, even if it might cost me my first born child. Every once in a while they have discount racks, and I love those!! This location is always super clean and shiny! I miss the greeter guy though, he was my favorite part of Nordstroms. We went into Nordstrom to buy a suit for my husband. We headed to the suit section as soon as we arrived. It took only a few minutes for a sales person to approach us. Bobby is a personal stylist at this Nordstrom and was absolutely fantastic. He was patient and never pushy. This was actually our first time buying a suit here and were so pleased with the customer service. My husband got the royal treatment and a new suit. I would highly recommend Bobby, he has been with Nordstrom for several years and has great taste, friendly and down to earth. read more

This is hands down the worst Nordstrom I have ever been to. Every once in awhile I will visit this location. Each and every time I browse the Rail department, I consistently get ignored. I look and see a whole group of customer service staff just standing around, talking to each other, not helping anyone - and not one person has offered to greet me, let alone assist me after 15 minutes. I always end up putting back what I've been holding for purchase, and don't even browse the rest of the section because of the blatant disregard for customers/humans! If I have been judged for my appearance and thought to have had below average means, that mistake falls on your hands. Why would I purchase from this Nordstrom when I have people waiting on me hand-and-foot at just about every other location I've been to?! I have to admit, Nordstrom is my local addiction. My husband and I both shop here at least once every 2 weeks... Downside? Shop here often enough and it will empty your bank account. Luckily, we are pretty good at money management, so we splurge here! My husband just recently got his new suit and wardrobe here and was treated amazingly wonderful by a guy names Dave. Anytime you have to do some shopping in the Men's Department, head over to the suits and ask for Dave to help you out - he is a lifesaver! As for myself, I lucked out and got this $410 dress on sale for $199. SCORE! I am beyond happy with it - both quality and custom fit (thanks to complimentary tailoring). Customer service was great! It was a busy day - parking was very hard to find, but we got in and the employees at the watches department were all very helpful. An employee named Joe in particular was great! He asked what we were looking for, made great conversation, and found help for us (as I don't think he worked in the watch department), but he memorized everything I told him and reiterated it to another employee filling her in on what I was looking for and my interests. He was very helpful, a pleasure to speak with and I only wish all employees were like this when coming to any retail store! Thanks Joe! Excellent customer service! I'm not a high-end spender nor am I on a first name basis when I shop at Nordstroms but I was surprised with how far they really take care of you. I bought a Hugo Boss Pasolini suit over two years ago and the wools pants were damaged beyond repair. I walked into the store with my coat and asked the sales associate to help me find a pair of matching slacks with the coat. According to the associate, the suit was out of production and no matching slacks were found (even with the current Pasolini). As a consolation, he offered to exchange a new Pasolini for my old one on the condition that I bring the damaged pants back, no questions asked. Since my pants were no longer with me, I couldn't take his offer. Instead, he was willing to sell the entire suit ($795) for the price of the replacement pants I planned on buying ($175) on the condition that the store kept my coat. I walked out of the store with a new Pasolini suit for $175 and for them to keep my stained and weathered coat! Thank you for the wonderful customer service! read more

Their shoe department is one of the best. Guys are handsome, girls are pretty, and they all are extremely professional, courteous, and serve you with a smile. There is an amazing selection of shoes.... I am drooling just thinking about it. :D ~~ People always like their return policy, and I have been extremely please with my purchases here over the years. This place consistently offers POOR, despicable customer service! I can't believe some of these people are still working at the store. Are they a union and can't be fired? Does customer service no longer important to Nordstrom? I came in to return a pair of shoes, the women's shoes manager could not find the transaction, it got escalated to the MIC, Salon Barajas. If she's ever MIC when you're in need of help at the store, I highly suggest you return until she's off from work and another MIC starts his or her shift. Salon is so incompetent. I can't she is MIC. She couldn't find the transaction, even though her fake smile leads you to believe she's trying to help you. She did some research, came back to me and said I found the transaction, but it was purchase elsewhere at a lower price. I told her that merchandise at the other store was also returned. We had to go up to the customer service department to look at the transaction and sure enough, she saw the item was indeed returned. She looked shocked herself and dumb founded. Initially, she felt so proud she resolved the issue. She soon finds herself being baffled and confused at the whole situation. So you know what she does? She breaks down and literally tells me she can NO LONGER help me. The issue must be escalated to the store manager, Marcille Hughes. Can you believe that? She can't seem to handle a complicated return and she's MIC. Unbelievable. I write to Marcille about how I was inhumanely treated and belittled by Salon. Instead of apologizing Salon's comments, she stated in her email that she "stands by Salon's decision making," What a joke! Of course she would, she would make her employee look bad if she didn't. She would make Salon appear incompetent if she didn't stand by Salon's initial decision to not accept the return. This company is going through fraud and they automatically think everyone is trying to fraud them. If I was, I wouldn't be returning an item that cost $200. Save yourself a trip, if you've never been here, to never come here. For those who have been unhappy with their services, they are in agreement that this store lacks professional and respectable customer service, a basic staples. Go to any other Nordstroms location and you will not have a problem. I have not had a problem at any other store, but the Santa Anita/Arcadia Nordstroms. Nordstrom truly is as good as it gets. Excellent customer service. Knowledgeable staff (who know how to direct you to where you need to go). I also love their "buy online and pick up in store" feature. It's so easy and so convenient! I also love their no-hassel return policy for online purchases. They recently remodeled the entire store so it has a clean and sexy vibe. And, with the addition of the underground parking, getting in and out of the mall is a snap! The only department that's ever given me grief was the cosmetics counter - one brand rep is a pill to deal with, so I avoid her completely. The other time, I was given wrong information and horrible service over the phone - and incorrectly charged - but, one phone call to the department manager cleared up the issue with prompt and efficient service. read more

Usually I don't leave reviews but today I was absolutely astonished by the customer service in the Mens suit department. I was greeted by an older gentleman, who was very helpful. A few minutes after I was greeted by the gentlmen, I asked a heavier-set blonde woman a question, and she didn't even bother to acknowledge me, she replied with the snobbiest remarks I have ever heard. Probably the most unprofessional experience I have encountered. I have been selling,tailoring and altering suits for half a decade and I would never treat one of my clients the way I was treated today. Absolutely terrible service. Last but not least, she did not seem very knowledgeable when it came down to questions about cuts and styles. I am going to have to give nordstroms 1 star for the their dispecable customer service. A good number of them were purchased on Nordstrom.com and some I opted to pick up directly from the store at the Santa Anita mall. In spite of the Christmas rush, the staff in the Customer Service department were on top of their game every time I stopped by to pick up my merchandise. Recently made a visit to Nordstrom's to get my Marc Jacobs watch repaired due to a broken band. I was told by the saleswoman that if they sent it back to the manufacturer, it would cost $60 for them to replace my band. The saleswoman shared with me that sometimes they refer customers to a watch repair store called Fast-Fix inside the mall. I visited Fast-Fix and showed them my watch. I found out that the band didn't need to be replaced. All they would need to do is remove the broken link. The gentleman told me it would cost $10 to fix and it would take 30 minutes. He said it may be a little tighter since a link would be removed. I decided to get it fixed and came back in 30 minutes. My watch fit me perfectly and was done in the time promised. I'm happy with the results and Nordstrom's saved me $50. I went back to the saleswoman and told her it worked out and gave her a high five. I told her I would be back in the future. I've been coming to this Nordstrom for years now to shop and haven't had many bad encounters until today. My friend and I came to look for dress pants we found online that were on sale and asked Mai, the sales associate, to help us find it. We had already tried to look for the pants in the reduced section which only had a couple pants on the rack. When I asked her to help me find the pants, she just points to the reduced section and tells me with and attitude that's where everything is. She was also chewing her gum obnoxiously loud and talking to me in a rude tone through the whole process. I then find the pants I was looking for but in a different color that weren't on sale which was perfectly fine and she takes me to the fitting room.Throughout the entire time she was helping me out, she was treating my friend and I as we were inferior to other customers. My friend or I would have to get her attention while I was in the fitting room since she was never attentive. I needed my pants to get tailored and was trying to get the tailor to come measure my pants but she was just talking to another guest while I was clearly in her sight waiting for her to help me. In the end, when I was paying, she finds out that the pants were on sale and charges me a "fee" since they were on sale without telling me how much it actually was until I myself find out it was $31. I purchased a pair of YSL heels on March 9 at a Nordstrom in OC but decided to **exchange** them for a shorter Valentino heel at this Arcadia Nordstrom the next day. When I went to the register the employee, Cynthia D., charged me for the Valentino pair before making the return or exchange to my debit card. Before swiping for the new purchase, I asked her to first return the 1st pair and get credit from the original purchase and she denied my request and said "no it needs to be done this way". I still don't see the pending credit due to me on my chase app and will probably have to keep checking. It's a huge inconvenience, and someone trying to be slick for some commission is so annoying. What if I didn't have the extra thousand for a second pair and got charged an overdraft fee. Or what if I needed money now and not a week from now. The only additional charge to my card should have been the difference. read more

What happen to this place?! The idea of them placing a sticker on your tag is in the event the receipt is not present at the point of exchange or return. It's useless, I came in to return an item which I paid cash for and they would not give me my money back it had to be placed on a gift card. It does not make any sense if they can pull up the transaction from the sticker the place at point of sale. The manager helping the associate was not friendly and spoke to the associate as if I was not standing in front of them. I do not think I can continue to shop at a place like this anymore. read more

I recently went to this location because I was in desperate need of new bras. It had been several years since I had last been fitted. I have been fitted previously at another Nordstrom and specialty bra stores. I have always had good service at Nordstrom but was still hesitant. At all other bra stores i.e . Victoria's Secret, I have always been measured inaccurately. I feel like they measure you to fit their items and make a sale. I'm an uncommon size so I can't buy an average bra and feel comfortable in it for very long. Nordstrom has a much better size range then most stores. At this particular store I went in close to closing and Christina B. assisted me. She was knowledgeable, very accurate and above all very patient. She fitted me, showed me all my options available in store and wrote down sizes I could order online from other brands. I was stuck on a particular style that wasn't available in my size. I suggested an alteration to the band to make it fit. Christina called over Aida (from alterations) and we brainstormed for a few minutes about how it could be altered to work for me. I just picked up the bra a week later and sure enough, it fits great. I am very happy with the service I received from both of these ladies and will try to have them assist me from now on. read more

This review is specifically for Chanel make up sale associate service. The first time I purchased Tan De Soleil, the sale associate (white girl), was alright since I walked in knowing what I wanted. She didnt offer any sample and I didnt bother to ask. The second time I purchased lipstick, I asked the sale associate (old Asian lady) if there were any samples available. She said "no sample for foundation, lipstick, only has fragrant". But she was not offering me any. After the payment, she proceeded to tell me to put the lipstick into my mini handbag. I'm was really disappointed that I'm spending close to $45 on lipstick to be told to put it in my handbag and not even bagged it properly. I said it would be nice to be bagged up so she gave me a paper bag. I'm so embarrassed that I came back 15 minutes later to return the product n asked for refund. I was in and out within five minutes. I can definitely tell the associates love working at Nordstrom's because they're always cheery! I'm very upset and disappointed with Nordstrom's alteration department. I was referred to have my prom dressed altered at Nordstrom. At the alteration, they trimmed the bottom and took some material from the strap. The total cost of the alteration was around $85. When I picked up the dress it was too tight around the area because the strap was pulled too high. Proceeding this situation I went back to alterations to see if they could do anything about the mistake. They wanted to charge me $20 extra to fix it on top of the $85 I had already paid for the alteration. I truly don't think it is fair that they wanted to charge me more on top of what I had already paid. I highly DO NOT recommend alterations from here because they only care if the dress was purchased at Nordstrom and if it was not they will charge you to make more money. read more

I believe her name is Elizabeth. She helped me with my purchase and couldn't be any nicer. Some guy came and waved at her for help while she was ringing my purchase up. What a rude bleep. Did he not see me standing there? Anyways, she stepped away for a second to hurry and show him what he was looking for. I really wanted to tell him off and tell him to wait his turn. Have been a Nordstrom Icon member for a couple of years, this location just keeps disappointing me again and again. The service in this location just getting worse. I went today to use my $50 gift card (it's a kind of icon member benefit and will be expired after 12/31) from Nordstrom, and I was planning to buy new shoes or some skincare products. I stood there for at least 20 minutes without any service, the store did not crow. I started in the shoe department, workers there were busy talking to their co-workers or busy with their phones, and when I finally found someone to help me, they did not have my size, just like usual, they always do not have it. Then I had to go cosmetic department, and even though there were not many customers, I still got no service. I wasted my time in this location for almost 1.5 hours for nothing, I ended up buying a skincare product I did not even like so I don't waste my benefit. After today's experience, I will never come to this location to buy any shoes or skincare products. I will go to Brea mall or South Coast Plaza's Nordstrom, the worst service ever! read more

Nodstoms is great, but sometimes their employees are not welcoming. For example an employee named Linda .B who works for the FRAGRANCE department. When u are there asking her about colognes, she rudely makes you feel like you don't deserve a sample. She has the nerve to pressure you to purchase $400 bottles without sampling them, saying "I dont know why you dont just buy it now"... and if you dare ask for a sample, she goes on about how she has given samples away in the past and never sees the person again. How rude! As if you are now beholden to come back and purchase if you took a sample. Now, I usually buy many expensive colognes but never will I buy from her! Why buy from someone who tries to guilt trip a customer into purchasing?! Finally she gave me a couple of samples and limits it to 3!! Literally saying I could have no more! And of the tiny little sample bottles she gave me, she took precautions to fill it up only about 1/4 of the way. I'M LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME LADY?!?! You would think she is giving a sample right from her personal collection at home! It's ridiculous! NODSTROMS, Please retrain this employee. It's not YOUR job LINDA .B to police the tester bottles and regulate the samples given out. What's wrong with you?! You are offending AND driving away customers! Mind you, not every fragrance sales rep is as rude. For example Veronica DelaTore from the Jo Malone counter or Christine from the Tom Ford counter are completely welcoming and make you desire to purchase from them just based off of how sweet they are. They takes their time explaining every scent and offers you as many samples as you need to feel comfortable AND they fill the small sample bottles up so you can make an informed decision. i have always sung praises about this nordstrom: customer service, organization, greeter, overall "classiness". i've shopped here for over 10 years and this is seriously one of my favorite stores of all time. BUT.. after today i'm going to think twice about ever coming back. i headed to nordstrom after work around 5pm to buy a pair of boots as a last minute present for my mom. i go to the shoe section, which is usually my favorite section of the store, quickly spot a pair of beautiful brown leather boots and i go to pay. a blonde girl with really red lipstick rang me up. here is where my experience is horrible enough for me to consider whether or not i will come back again. basically, i could sense her condescendence right away. yes i was wearing scrubs. i work in a research lab and rushed to the mall after work so i didn't have time to change. no, i was not wearing makeup nor did i spend too much time on my hair this morning. she gave me a sour look the whole time and when i asked her if i could get the boots gift wrapped, she snaps quickly and says "sorry, we don't carry boxes that big". i look to the side where a few other sales associates were wrapping gifts for customers at a table and i see an associate placing a pair of boots into a big box, so i politely ask the girl if i could get a box like that as well. instead of responding to my question, she pretends she didn't hear me and after a long silence finally looks up says "sorry, what did you say?" on my last nerve, i repeat my question, and she simply says "no that box is for a different department". BITCH, THE OTHER GIRL JUST WRAPPED A PAIR OF BOOTS IN THERE WHAT OTHER DEPARTMENT COULD IT BE? i've never in my life felt this disappointed in nordstrom for hiring such a rude person with absolutely no sense of respect or customer service. she finished ringing me up, tossed (and i mean TOSSED) my credit card back to me after she swiped it. and messily stuffed my boots into a bag too small and shoved me my bag without saying thank you or good bye. the worst part, i turn around after i walk away and i see her rolling her eyes and shaking her head. i completely understand that yes, it's christmas eve; the mall is a zoo, and you're probably dead tired from running to and from the stockroom a billion times to find sizes, but seriously, you work at nordstrom, not the 99 cents store. as a matter of fact, i'm pretty sure the workers at the 99 cents store are much nicer and would NEVER treat customers this way. just because you work here does not entitle you to act like you own the place. may i remind you, YOU SELL SHOES FOR A LIVING AT A RETAIL STORE. nordstrom brands itself with an image of class and luxury, but with employees like this, they might as well be a flea market. read more
