Noor restaurants out favorite 'goto' place when concerning eating out. however, the restaurant is in dire meet to wait staff. it is managed by a very friendly husband and wife team,'while they are performing multiple functions, thus forcing long wait times on hungry customers and then leaving to find another place to eat. Absolutely GREAT food. This is the best food I've had from anywhere in years, and I have a Michelin-star restaurant in my neighborhood that I order from all the time. We ordered lamb saag, tikka masala, two types of naan (including the chicken tikka cheese naan, which was totally unique and delicious. Never seen it before), and raita. All of the dishes were standouts. Well-balanced spices, tender meat, perfectly crispy-chewy naan. I've tried cooking Indian food at home for 20 years, eaten at places from Miami to Patterson and in between. This is at least top 3, maybe the best I've ever had. The food was outstanding. I especially liked how you could order by choosing the protein and choosing the sauce and then selecting any additional ingredients. It seemed that we picked an evening where the chef was also the waitress so that led to waiting longer than expected. Spicy means spicy, and even medium is quite spicy. We chose this establishment to sample their veg Hyderabadi Biryani, which did not disappoint. Rice, cheese, and oh so many tastes. The raita was necessary as the spice level was, shall we say, sufficient. Also on the memu is Bagara Baingan, a dish with baby eggplant, mustard, and peanut sauce. Try it. To prep for the drive upstate was ginger milk tea and mango lassi. All good. Suffern is conveniently located at the junction of the NY Thruway, Loop 287, Route 17, the Port Jervis train line, and Harriman State Park. South is the city, north is upstate. I came to this here establishment with my friend because he's been raving about it for months, almost like the way he raves about going to drive in movies. WELL I'LL BE! I was transported from the desolate wasteland that Suffern calls a downtown to a restaurant that felt like I had grown up in. The owners were great at determining what food may be too spicy for me, one of my biggest fears after what happened to me on "spicy chicken sandwich day" in 8th grade. I used my best acting skills to make it seem like could handle spicy food when my order was taken and was recommended their mild option. Nailed it! When my food came out it was the perfect level of spice for a pastey slug of a human like myself. I ordered the chicken Biryani and the rice and raita really helped me manage the spice level. My friend let me try his spicy curry... it didn't go to well for me but he likes spicy food and lapped up the whole bowl like a dog. Anyways, this is a pretty cool joint. If you want a break from eating dried out burgers in the area and want to take a break from eating mid food, you should come here! read more

First and foremost, you are greeted by warmth and kindness, as this is a family-owned restaurant who makes you feel like a regular (even though this was our first time dining here). The restaurant's dining space is inviting, but the food is 5-star MAGNIFICENT. The spicy cauliflower appetizer and chili-garlic naan were delightful, but the star of the show was the other-worldly Goat Dum Biryani, quite simply the best Indian dish I've ever tasted. Layered with flavors (and quite literally layered in the bowl with rice, egg and seasoning this palate had never experienced), I am already salivating about my next visit. Absolutely delightful family run Halal Indian restaurant. Delicious fresh dishes and the owners welcome you and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Shankar suggested I try the "house special curry" and I love goat so I ventured into the unknown and added a portion of spinach (2.99) to the main dish as he suggested. It was rich and creamy and a deep luxurious heat which filled me completely- (large portions by the way) a unique dish of Goat Curry which I relished along with spicy homemade green chutney and mango chutney and fluffy basmati rice. Somosas were a little stodgy and a tad oily but still had decent flavor. Appetizer was roasted cauliflower which was battered and grilled - interesting dish - sticky and quite tasty with fresh cilantro. The Alu Gobi was excellent and added a side of Roti and Padpad! Love this place! This is first review I've done in years and want to see this great establishment succeed. The Mrs and I really missed the "Indian restaurant across the street from this one" when it closed, it was the only one we really liked in the area. So happy this place fills that gap. In short -- very good food (some of the best I've had in the area!), very informal, and a wonderful owner/host. It's almost like she's welcoming you into her home. The Mrs is also gluten free and the menu makes very clear what is GF - very appreciated! Food: started w onion pakora (kinda like onion ring straws) that was amazing. I had chicken w Chettinand sauce -- they'll make it any level of spice you want - I probably went too spicy!. My wife had the Chicken Korma. Both were great and the was enough that we had leftovers to take home. Interior is informal/not fancy. -- ex. Water was a Kirkland bottle. Which is more than fine - we're they're for the food! As someone who prides themselves on trying lots of Indian restaurants I can confidently say this is amongst the best I've ever had. Owned by a lovely family, their food tastes as if you're in their home. Every dish was carefully and proudly prepared and you can tell the difference. Everything was perfectly and complexly seasoned and the owners were both kind and welcoming. She (who happens to be an OBGYN) generously shared some of her personal pickles (yea I know this sounds odd) but was so appreciated. Doc, please put these on the menu so I can happily purchase them next time. Run, don't walk to this gem of an establishment. The first time I ordered with NOOR was. takeaway. I had family visiting and wanted to get some rice, naan and curry spicy. I was pleasantly surprised by the shrimp tikka and saag paneer. The garlic chili naan is out of this world like nothing I've tasted before and I'm Indian. I ordered catering more recently and was impressed by the price.
