One of my favorite restaurants. It delivers via Uber Eats. For someone that is stuck at home all the time this is a good thing.

We were thinking where I might have gotten food poisoning and my husband said when they were making my sushi he saw them use the same knife to cut the sushi as they had used to cut raw salmon. Do not order sushi here!

Allow me to paint the scene for you: my lovely wife and I were on our way back to her folks after a late-night jaunt to TJ Maxx. Apparently, her sister had tried on a terrific black number that she just HAD to have. As it turned out, their tastes were not completely aligned as we left the store empty-handed and returned to Monsey for a couple of consolation slices. We parked in the rear and entered through the service entrance. I love service entrances - I feel a bit like I'm better than everyone else. We saw a bunch of teenagers sitting in their respective "booths", if you can call them as such, which harkened back to high school memories with the wrestling team and girls who wanted to be seen with lettermen (I asked my mother-in-law if I should capitalize lettermen - she said no). The line for ordering wasn't as long as my dear wife remembered from her days of yesteryear, and it was our turn after a quick perusing of the shoppe's wares. I went in for a "vegetable" slice and the missus chose a regular cheese slice and a spicy fries. I immediately realized how wrong I was for using such a vague term as "vegetable" and asked the strapping young man for clarification. He told me he rang me up for a blizzard, and that I could change it but he sounded a bit harried in his conveyance. I told him no matter and summarily paid the $11 and change. Our pizza was ready in under 3 minutes and my wife, pregnant of 9 months, rose to the occasion and collected our order. After securing our own booth, not unlike the booths occupied by teens the store over, I began chowing down. The dough was a bit soft and so I employed the classic fold-your-slice-in-half technique. Rookie mistake. Obviously, to any innocent bystander, this was my first blizzard slice. Within seconds, oily sauce began pouring forth from every crevice. Allow me to explain the blizzard. Take a pie crust, cover it with mozzarella, diced peppers, onions and tomatoes, then top that with their signature house sauces - both sweet and spicy. The sauce overwhelms the slice. I enjoy a neat slice of pizza and I enjoy a true slice of pizza - the blizzard was neither. A slice of pizza should look a certain way. There's a bit of variance for and aft but when you verge too far from the original slice of pizza....well that just ain't pizza anymore. I summarily wolfed down my slice, the exact way my mother warned me not to for the first 27 years of my life, then got to work on the fries. The slice tasted fine, but it was a nightmare to consume. The fries were quite tasty, within a standard margin of soggy/crispy variance throughout. The missus finished up and then went to the counter for round two - takeaway for the in laws who were watching kid #1 at their home. I went to wait in the car. Within 5 minutes, she shoves her pregnant stomach through the driver's side door (I couldn't locate my license or wallet when we left for TJ Maxx all those hours earlier) with 2 boxes stacked on each other and proceeds to delve into this drawn out story with color photos and diagrams complete with circles and arrows on the back of each one explaining in detail what each one was for illustrative purposes to be used in the event I didn't grasp the gist of the situation. As it turned out, the young man behind the counter who, we'll call Elchanan to enhance the review, and also his name was Elchanan, asked my beautiful wife how I enjoyed my slice. True to form, she told him "it's totally fine, but he doesn't enjoy messy slices." Above and beyond the call of duty for such a station, Elchanan showed his true colors and rose to the occasion. The story transmitted to me went something like, "he quickly said, 'I know which slice he wanted!' And then he threw it in for free!" There's nothing like free pizza. Especially delicious vegetable pizza. But please, I implore you: don't order the blizzard.

We had the octopus appetizer this time and a large Greek salad with grilled calamari. Such a refreshing, delicious dinner to share. Lots of chargrilled octopus, sliced up to eat and dressed with parsley, capers, lemon and olive oil. Ugh, so good. Drizzle more of that awesome table EVOO for even more yumminess. The large Greek salad is...large. It's well balanced, has mild feta and we got it all topped with grilled calamari (for an added $9). It's a good value as you get plenty of calamari (vs ordering an app of calamari). Dinner ends with complementary Greek cookies - kourabiedes. Bring cash app they charge a credit card fee (my only gripe here). We bright home a gyro platter to go and our server timed the order perfectly so it came out right when we were about to leave.

BYOB and also has outdoor seating. Food has a turkish sensibility. We have gone here 3 times and here is our food review. Falafel is cooked to perfection, crispy outside and soft inside.NOT greasy at all. Filling is mixed with delicous herbs giving a green tinge. Oh-so good! Lentil soup is light, gently and perfectly spiced. Not thick, a lovely puree. Cold Turkish Salad. So fresh and refreshing. Served cold. It is a Turkish version of ratatouille of a sort. Vegetables are cooked nicely and still have a little bite to them. The spices are on point. Unique and special dish. Shish Twood (Chicken Kabab) The best we have EVER eaten. Large pieces of chicken that are so wonderfully spiced (but not spicy). So moist and tender. Rice is amazing. Again so flavorful! They sometimes have bulgar which is equally delicous (my favorite). A special item that is rarely found in restaurants. Chicken Shawarma. Similar spices to the Kabob, small pieces of moist and tender chicken. Not dry like is often found at other places. Kufta Kubob. Mix of minced lamb and beef, again perfectly seasoned and grilled. Moist and delicious. Great yogurt sauce on the side. Thick and flavorful. Kufta Kabab Pan with tomato sauce. Same meat mix as the Kabob except in is a large, round patty and is underneath a light tomato sauce. Lamb Chops. So delicous! Tender and moist and perfectly cooked to medium as requested. Generous serving. Another perfectly spiced dinner. Mixed Grill. Kufta kabab, chicken kabab, and steak. The steak was delicous..tender and moist. Generous serving and a nice way to sample everything. Pistaschio & Banana Pudding. Homemade and a "don't miss dessert"! Thick and creamy and oh-so-good! Not too sweet. Really special.

Everything on the menu is vegan, but my family truly could not taste any difference when we visited. We ordered the Oreo protein pancakes, blueberry pancakes, penne with vodka sauce, and a breakfast burrito. Since I turned vegan, I've been craving pancakes so the food really hit the spot. The pancakes were so fluffy and tasted incredible. The penne was also so flavorful and was maybe our favorite dish. The breakfast burrito was also filling and tasted great. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of food and would come here regularly if I lived in the area. Additionally, the prices were super reasonable and are definitely more affordable than the average restaurant in the area. Chelsea was our waitress and I want to give her a special shoutout because she was particularly helpful and friendly to us. She did an excellent job answering our questions and even was willing to share general tips on vegan cooking. She really went out of her way to help me out after I mentioned that I recently turned vegan.

Best thing to happen to this food strip in AGES ! Fresh…read moreingredients and tasty recipes . The price is appropriate for the type of food you're getting, but even more so-the portion sizes and flavor are top notch . We've already stoped in multiple times so here are some of our take aways : -dolmades : honestly, the best I've ever had. And I try them EVERYWHERE. Not cheaply portions either - solid roll and you get 5 in an order. WORTH IT. -pita chips : clearly homemade and SO delicious . They're softer than the ones people are used to getting, but firm enough to really hold some hummus Bowl/Wrap ingredients : BASES -med couscous: light and fluffy, not porridge-esque -warm garbanzo beans : Held their integrity during cooking so you're greeted with big pillows of seasoned goodness -farmers mix : more than just Romaine-reminiscent of a garden mix (arugula, kale, etc) SPREADS -zesty Feta : no words can do this justice. Chunky and full of love -roasted eggplant hummus : brought an almost Smokey flavor as opposed to regular hummus -Kalamata olive hummus : recommended by the young man making my dish and WOW so glad he did. I'm not a huuuuuuge olive fan and this was just a nice essence of kalamatas . I was afraid it would be too potent and take over the dish. QUITE THE OPPOSITE! Will never look back from other options ! -tzatzki : mild flavor and perfect accompaniment to anything it touches PROTEIN First off, they offer the most GENEROUS protein portions. You 'get 2' so they let you do a full scoop of one and a full scoop of the other. Falafel is about 4 balls per serving so you can mix and match with another protein -Moroccan steak : nice sized slices/bits of spiced meat -lemon chicken : you can taste the citrus without it being overpowering . Also in nice sized pieces -chicken shawarma : insta classic ! The meat is almost buttery it's cooked so well -falafel : my personal favorite . You can taste how fresh they are ! No dryness here! Great Big Crunch surrounding a little pillow of happiness . And if you choose this as your protein, be prepared to be AMAZED at how much you get! TOPPINGS Unlike other stores of this kind, the toppings bar is unlimited !!! And that doesn't speak to the quality of the ingredients. Again, everything is so fresh and taken care of properly. Most of this part is self explanatory so I'll just touch on the parts we found interesting: -chickpea croutons : not nearly as hard as expected to be so that was a plus. The shell has a crisp but you won't worry about breaking a tooth -dolmades : if you're afraid to commit to a full order, here's your chance to try it ! You won't be disappointed -tabbouleh : such a lovely addition to the meal you just created . Adds flavor with the mint/parsley/onion heavenly goodness -cabbage : tried both the white and red at different times and both were tasty. Felt that the white took in more of the flavor around the dish while the red just added crunch DRESSINGS -any tahini option is the right answer . If you're not familiar with the taste of tahini to begin with (earthy if you will), then I would recommend a flavored one -roasted red pepper tahini: a gift from above ! There is a slight sweet yet smokey flavor that wraps everything together -garlic jalapeño tahini : not as spicy as you'd imagine so it just gives a nice lil zest to your dish -lemon & olive oil : depending on what you put in your order, this will help with overall texture. If you opted out of wet stuff (tomatoes, lettuce, etc) this is your choice ! Lastly, The Earth Burger : like a big ole falafel and WOW did not disappoint . Maintained the integrity of the falafel (crispy outside, soft inside) while giving you the satisfying big bite you're looking for . Only complaint is since it is such a hearty size, maybe a size of tahini or tatziki should accompany it . I'd say on the burger but it's cooked so perfectly that I don't want to risk it getting soggy . Basically, this is a great asset to the area. Kind staff, smiling faces, clean sitting area and portion sizes that will have you stuffed all day !

Solid fast, casual Mediterranean food in Paramus…read more Despite Hummus Republic apparently having multiple locations in NJ and across the U.S., I shamelessly admit that I had neverrrrr, everrrrr heard of Hummus Republic prior to finding them on Yelp recently. Whenever I think of fast, casual Mediterranean food, popular spots like Naya, Cava and Eons come to mind and it was nice to see yet ANOTHER option in Hummus Republic. As they say, the more the merrier! Hummus Republic's menu looks eerily similar to those aforementioned competitors. They serve your ever popular Mediterranean-inspired custom bowls, wraps and pitas that comprise of a base/carb/salad, protein (e.g. chicken, falafel, shawarma, etc.), hummus and spreads, toppings and dressings. One thing was for sure after I brought our takeout orders home - it will satisfy any large appetite because the employees absolutely PACKED our bowls to the gills. There wasn't even enough breathing room for an ant! My wife and I both ordered custom bowls with chicken shawarma and falafel and various toppings. As favorable as the serving size was, unfortunately, the flavors were no Naya, Cava or Eons. Don't get me wrong, it was decent, but something was definitely lacking. The ingredients were fresh, but something about the mixture of it all didn't gel. It was one of those "when you know, you know" type of situations because, after taking a few bites, we both agreed that its competitors were definitely better overall. STILL, with what I said about the flavors, it was solid. By far from something terrible, but a rung below the best of the fast, casual Mediterranean spots. There is no doubt Naya, Cava and Eons are at the very top, but, if we were in the area, would I drop in again? Sure. Absolutely. Custom Bowl with halal chicken and falafel
