I cannot recommend Simply Green Cafe enough! From the service to the food, this is now my favorite breakfast spot and one of my top restaurants. Everything on the menu is vegan, but my family truly could not taste any difference when we visited. We ordered the Oreo protein pancakes, blueberry pancakes, penne with vodka sauce, and a breakfast burrito. Since I turned vegan, I've been craving pancakes so the food really hit the spot. The pancakes were so fluffy and tasted incredible. The penne was also so flavorful and was maybe our favorite dish. The breakfast burrito was also filling and tasted great. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of food and would come here regularly if I lived in the area. Additionally, the prices were super reasonable and are definitely more affordable than the average restaurant in the area. Chelsea was our waitress and I want to give her a special shoutout because she was particularly helpful and friendly to us. She did an excellent job answering our questions and even was willing to share general tips on vegan cooking. The service was friendly and casual. We were able to get recomendations which didn't disappoint. The decore is pretty basic but clean and pleasant nevertheless, and there is cool artwork displayed on the walls. Delicious again! I took my fiancé here for the first time, he has only gone veg within the last year so he was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was at Simply Green. I ordered the Seitan Gyro - one issue I had later was my mouth broke out in hives. I have an issue with nuts, sesame, and chickpeas, and was told I was safe but something caused a mild break out. It would be nice to know on the menu what the ingredients are in everything - especially the sauces. The booths are difficult to eat in if someone is sitting in the booth behind you, as they are attached. The man behind me was moving so much I kept hitting my face with my food. My daughter nearly died after eating here the other day. She has a severe nut allergy and knows to be careful when eating someplace new, but had no idea the mac and cheese she ordered from the kids menu was made with cashew cheese (thats a thing?). Despite the menu calling much attention to the gluten options (congrats to those gluten allergy people), nowhere does it mention products that contain nuts. Nut allergies are pretty common and should especially be called out on the kids menu. Thanks to the staff at Hoboken ER where we spent several hours, I can gratefully report our daughter is ok. Loyal customer here. However, things are changing. Simple Green is pricey, greasy and getting lazy. I enjoyed my orders and experience with you but I'm done returning. The food is greasy. Fries mush together. Plate drips of oil. The staff and kitchen are not communicating and double checking each other. I'm tired of mistakes with my orders. This wasn't the first time my order has been messed up but it certainly will be the last time I support the business. I order a wrap and I received a hamburger bun. My fault for not triple checking. The food was really good. I got the Mediterranean platter and the protein power salad. They were both good. However, we came to eat at past 6:30, and the manager/waitress was already almost done cleaning. She had the chairs put back, all lined up, and was sweeping the floor. She was also counting her money, which you shouldn't do when there are still customers eating. We wanted to eat there, and she let us, but she still did all that when she shouldn't have. It made my mom and I uncomfortable the whole time, as we also smelled the cleaning stuff and she was sweeping the whole time. I don't know if I would come back, which is unfortunate because the food is good and healthy. My mom let her know what she did was wrong and to her credit, she was understanding and nice about it. I start with the Egyptian Lentil Soup which tastes good, every bite with a tinge of gingery taste: I really like tasting every bite with a drop of hot sauce (literally one drop per spoonful, so good). I finish with a Reuben and Waffle Fries w/ Seasoning; the Russian Sauce and Corned Beef (Vegan) make the sandwich for me though the Swizz Cheeze definitely makes each bite a softer than harder crunch; the Waffle Fries are good though I don't generally go for food out of a fryer often at all. The French toast was not fluffy but flat and over cooked. Tofu scrambled as bland as it is and too dry. Pancakes again bland. Sausage dried out (over cooked) With vegan food just as it is can be very bland for most. So it's all about seasoning & texture. Chef(s) you have to really study your craft of seasoning which was our biggest issue. You have a great spot & are in a great position as the only Vegan spot in town. This is my favorite vegan place nearby! Everything is so fresh! I've been getting my food to-go during covid, the staff is always so nice whenever I go in. The philly sandwich, eggplant po'boy and Egyptian red lentil soup are amazing in addition to my favorite thing to get, the tofu scramble. I don't know how they do it but the tofu scramble really tastes like eggs. The fresh juices are a bit overpriced for the size compared to other spots but are really great flavor combos. Located in a shopping plaza with a Walgreens and in a nondescript exterior, this cafe offers breakfast all day (yay), sandwiches, salads, raw, some juices, etc. I had the tofu scramble (with tofu acting as the egg, spinach, broccoli, onion, two slices of toast, and shredded hash brown) - $8.95. The medley and hash brown weren't super tasty, and I felt like I could make it, but I didn't really mind. We also ordered the empanadas (which had a decently fried exterior) and a kale salad. Each dish also could have had more unique elements, which has been my experience with other vegan places. The fruit juices were also rather small. They also have some premade desserts like donuts and chocolate cake. We were greeted by the friendly staff.
