I cannot recommend Simply Green Cafe enough! From the service to the food, this is now my favorite breakfast spot and one of my top restaurants. Everything on the menu is vegan, but my family truly could not taste any difference when we visited. We ordered the Oreo protein pancakes, blueberry pancakes, penne with vodka sauce, and a breakfast burrito. Since I turned vegan, I've been craving pancakes so the food really hit the spot. The pancakes were so fluffy and tasted incredible. The penne was also so flavorful and was maybe our favorite dish. The breakfast burrito was also filling and tasted great. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of food and would come here regularly if I lived in the area. Additionally, the prices were super reasonable and are definitely more affordable than the average restaurant in the area. Chelsea was our waitress and I want to give her a special shoutout because she was particularly helpful and friendly to us. She did an excellent job answering our questions and even was willing to share general tips on vegan cooking. She really went out of her way to help me out after I mentioned that I recently turned vegan. read more

One of my favorite vegan spots in NJ. I'm obsessed with the Loaded fries! Every time we stop by we always have to have their fries. It is waffle fries with mac n cheeze. So delicious and their portions are so huge that you will never leave the restaurant hungry. I'm slowly trying a new item on the menu each time i visit! It just a chill place with good food. read more

This place is unfortunately really bad now. Some food is still good (stick to most of the sandwiches and wraps), but the other food is pretty awful. For example, they gave me breakfast potatoes that were literally canned potatoes with zero seasoning, reheated in the microwave. Worst potatoes I've ever had. How do you mess up potatoes? Speaking of messing up, I think they've gotten my order correct exactly once ever. Been there countless times, hoped they've changed since things went south quality-wise maybe a year ago, but this time was the last straw. You've lost a long-time customer. Such a shame because it used to be one of my favorites. read more

Delicious again! I took my fiancé here for the first time, he has only gone veg within the last year so he was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was at Simply Green. I ordered the Seitan Gyro - one issue I had later was my mouth broke out in hives. I have an issue with nuts, sesame, and chickpeas, and was told I was safe but something caused a mild break out. It would be nice to know on the menu what the ingredients are in everything - especially the sauces. The booths are difficult to eat in if someone is sitting in the booth behind you, as they are attached. The man behind me was moving so much I kept hitting my face with my food. Overall still 5 stars tho because YUM read more

From breakfast through dinner, every meal here is a total winner. I love the pancakes for breakfast, salads, soups or sandwiches are all great, my favorite being the eggplant Poboy. Dinner specials are always fun too. The atmosphere is your local vegan diner nothing stuffy, nothing overdone and the price prices are pretty affordable. If you're vegan, you will not be disappointed. read more

Original vegan dishes. Generous portions and yumy flavoring. We tried tge beef strogonov over mashed potatoes and lemony scampi over linguine, and they were very satisfying! The service was friendly and casual. We were able to get recomendations which didn't disappoint. The decore is pretty basic but clean and pleasant nevertheless, and there is cool artwork displayed on the walls. There are many two person tabkes, which can be put together and four person open booths. read more

I've been here many times when friends. The food is 100% vegan and DELICIOUS! There are weekly specials (including breakfast for dinner!). The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! It's not a big place, but they can accommodate a large group (14-16 people) to door together. There ate booths as well. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! read more

Food was great. My wife and I really enjoyed our meals. Clean and friendly place with great food and fast service. A++

My daughter nearly died after eating here the other day. She has a severe nut allergy and knows to be careful when eating someplace new, but had no idea the mac and cheese she ordered from the kids menu was made with cashew cheese (thats a thing?). Despite the menu calling much attention to the gluten options (congrats to those gluten allergy people), nowhere does it mention products that contain nuts. Nut allergies are pretty common and should especially be called out on the kids menu. Thanks to the staff at Hoboken ER where we spent several hours, I can gratefully report our daughter is ok. But PLEASE be aware before eating here - and if you are local, please insist they update their menus. read more

Loyal customer here. However, things are changing. Simple Green is pricey, greasy and getting lazy. I enjoyed my orders and experience with you but I'm done returning. The food is greasy. Fries mush together. Plate drips of oil. The staff and kitchen are not communicating and double checking each other. I'm tired of mistakes with my orders. This wasn't the first time my order has been messed up but it certainly will be the last time I support the business. I order a wrap and I received a hamburger bun. My fault for not triple checking. But I shouldn't have to check if the kitchen does their job and the employee up front does theirs. Goodbye Simple Green. read more

Love the Mediterranean wrap. It may be the best falafel in our area. Components are fresh, and it's a generous size. Tahini sauce is awesome. Paid extra for the kale slaw- so light and compliments the wrap perfectly. Server (Lisa) is friendly and efficient. Overall, it's a textural, satisfying vegan delight! read more

Stopped in for lunch--excited to try a new place. I ordered the chick'n Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries, a veggie/fruit juice and a cookies and cream chocolate cake to go. Ambiance was okay, I wasn't uncomfortable. Service was good. Honestly, that was the best chik'n Caesar wrap I have ever had! Almost tasted like one with real chicken, certainly looked like it-5 stars for presentation and taste. I only have tofu once in a while though, seemed like most (not all) meat substitutes were tofu. The juice was great. Loved that it had a lot of veggies but also a nice taste. Sweet potato fries were good. The cookies and cream chocolate cake was truly like a taste of heaven. Never had anything like it! Serving size was great, comparable to any diner. Will definitely be coming back! read more

We've been fans since they opened several years ago. Their food is consistent, fresh and so good! My favorite and what I always get is their protein paradise salad. It is huge and filling and always tastes great. I recently got the buffalo chicken' club which was a special - my husband and I both loved it. They also have steak fries which are my absolute favorite. They serve breakfast too - tofu's scramble with potato's is excellent, the breakfast burrito is also good. Definitely a must try! read more

Service was superb. The waitress was extremely kind with quick service. She was fabulous. The food portions are enormous. We purchased 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert. Expected to eat at least half of each; however, it was enough to feed us for an entire weekend instead. All was fresh and delicious. The ambiance within the restaurant was nice and clean with good music too. Definitely a new spot for us to run to whenever we are hungry. read more

The food was really good. I got the Mediterranean platter and the protein power salad. They were both good. However, we came to eat at past 6:30, and the manager/waitress was already almost done cleaning. She had the chairs put back, all lined up, and was sweeping the floor. She was also counting her money, which you shouldn't do when there are still customers eating. We wanted to eat there, and she let us, but she still did all that when she shouldn't have. It made my mom and I uncomfortable the whole time, as we also smelled the cleaning stuff and she was sweeping the whole time. I don't know if I would come back, which is unfortunate because the food is good and healthy. My mom let her know what she did was wrong and to her credit, she was understanding and nice about it. I hope the owner and her see this and make those changes. read more

Tucked in a strip mall in downtown Ramsey with plenty of parking in the lot out front. Lots of vegan and some gluten free options. The waitress was very patient with lots of Patrons looking for GF substitutes. Had the hummus platter which was very good. Very Decent falafel included! Pita that came with it was hot and fresh. Eggplant parm sandwich was great and crispy. I got the kale slaw which was mostly just kale with a shred or two of carrot. Could have used more dressing and eggplant could have used more sauce. read more

The lady who runs the restaurant is so sweet. I had the pancakes which were delicious. The eggplant sandwich was good and the chicken sandwich. A great place for a quick pop in (or take out). Not everyone in the family is vegan but everyone enjoyed the food. read more

During my visit, customer service is on point; an employee is very kind and patient throughout my dine in experience. I start with the Egyptian Lentil Soup which tastes good, every bite with a tinge of gingery taste: I really like tasting every bite with a drop of hot sauce (literally one drop per spoonful, so good). I finish with a Reuben and Waffle Fries w/ Seasoning; the Russian Sauce and Corned Beef (Vegan) make the sandwich for me though the Swizz Cheeze definitely makes each bite a softer than harder crunch; the Waffle Fries are good though I don't generally go for food out of a fryer often at all. The establishment takes different forms of payments. read more

So I had my family do me a favor & eat here for the 3rd time. But it still didn't live up to our expectations. We had breakfast ordered a lot, we were hungry. I'm sorry to report your food is just too bland & a lil over cooked. The service was great the decor could use a facelift. But then we were there for a great vegan breakfast but didn't get it. The food had no flavor. At first I was concerned my taste buds were numb but then when we found ourselves pouring on salt, pepper, hot sauce (that we don't usually do) we realized that's not what is needed. The French toast was not fluffy but flat and over cooked. Tofu scrambled as bland as it is and too dry. Pancakes again bland. Sausage dried out (over cooked) With vegan food just as it is can be very bland for most. So it's all about seasoning & texture. Chef(s) you have to really study your craft of seasoning which was our biggest issue. You have a great spot & are in a great position as the only Vegan spot in town. So get it together and do your diligence at being the best in NJ and more. I hope to someday hear about you in the vegan news as one of the best vegan spots to eat at. Until then I'll check in on you for updates. Hope to return as a satisfied customer ,,,,,, read more

Amazing food and friendly service. We love trying new vegan spots and this place did not disappoint! I had the Vegan Parmigiana and my wife had the Crispy Buffalo Chick'n sandwich. This is my favorite vegan place nearby! Everything is so fresh! I've been getting my food to-go during covid, the staff is always so nice whenever I go in. The philly sandwich, eggplant po'boy and Egyptian red lentil soup are amazing in addition to my favorite thing to get, the tofu scramble. I don't know how they do it but the tofu scramble really tastes like eggs. The fresh juices are a bit overpriced for the size compared to other spots but are really great flavor combos. Occasionally they put out really yummy desserts! I'm not personally vegan but truly rnjoy coming here. read more

Love Simply Green Cafe! Have been here several times and it's always enjoyable. So nice to find a reasonably priced vegan restaurant when all the others seem so expensive. Simply Green Cafe has a great, varied menu as well as specials, so there's always a good selection to choose from and portions are generous. The food is consistently good and always tastes fresh. The food was so good the cannoli is amazing and soft serve is unreal.Berni was really nice and kind!

Amazing to have high quality plant based options available in town. The non-veg*n people I've brought here like it too, so a really good option if you've got anyone in your group looking for something plant based. Oh, and I don't know if they're on the menu, but the cannolis in the fridge were amazing! read more

Great to have a vegan option in the area: Friendly service, fair food. Located in a shopping plaza with a Walgreens and in a nondescript exterior, this cafe offers breakfast all day (yay), sandwiches, salads, raw, some juices, etc. I had the tofu scramble (with tofu acting as the egg, spinach, broccoli, onion, two slices of toast, and shredded hash brown) - $8.95. The medley and hash brown weren't super tasty, and I felt like I could make it, but I didn't really mind. We also ordered the empanadas (which had a decently fried exterior) and a kale salad. Each dish also could have had more unique elements, which has been my experience with other vegan places. The fruit juices were also rather small. They also have some premade desserts like donuts and chocolate cake. We were greeted by the friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised that there were a lot of people coming and going and, as such, the service wasn't blazing fast. read more

Service was good, their food options all looked amazing, and everyone including my omni parents enjoyed their meals. They had a number of gluten free options amongst their offerings. Their bathroom is the approximate size of a postage stamp, but not much to be done about that, though a hook on the door would have been nice. Altogether a place we intend to come back to the next time we're driving this route. read more

tiny portions, at full price. who could ask for more? i had the eggplant parmigiana hero with kale salad [+$2.00] my companion had pancakes. mine was too small and did not have enough, 'cheese,' and definitely not enough sauce on either the sandwich or salad, however the pancakes were like some kind of joke. tiny pancakes to the point that i actually apologized to my companion for bringing her to a place which would serve such a small dish and call it pancakes. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I like to eat a more vegetarian diet--I am definitely an omnivore--and if all vegetarian/vegan food were this good, I would have an easier time eating fewer animal products. The place was busy so perhaps call ahead or expect a wait, but all of the food was great. Particularly good was the lentil soup, but I also really enjoyed my avocado salad. It's a definite recommendation, with nice service and a local vibe. read more

I get food from here all the time....love this cafe and I don't know what I'd do without this place! It's so difficult eating Vegan outside a Vegan restaurant, so this is my haven.
