My wife and I just discovered this hidden gem. We wanted lobster and other local restaurants wanted $50 for each crustacean (and they are likely small). Mr. Google provided this restaurant of which we had never heard even though we've passed it hundreds of times (it is difficult to see from Southbound NH Avenue!) We called ... $40/each lobster. We went and were DELIGHTED! The lobsters were GENUINELY 1.25 pounds each OR MORE (i.e. NOT SMALL). They were expertly prepared with Ginger and Scallions, although there were more onions than scallions. ALL the people, and the service, were WONDERFUL! Friendly and helpful. SADLY, I am gluten free so I will never be able to enjoy ALL of their varied noodle menu (or anything made with ordinary soy sauce - first ingredient = wheat!). Definitely one of the best local Chinese restaurants in the MD burbs! Sad that the dining in option is closed, but the business currently remains open with carry-out and delivery options. I am writing this review because folks need to know that we have an excellent Chinese restaurant in our area. We have struggled to have good, consistent Chinese food for years. We ordered King Pao chicken, Pork fried rice, Triple delight, and the Buddha bowl. All of the food was very good. Our food was take out so didn't get a chance to have sit down service. But the person who helped me with my order was friendly and the food was done on time as promised. The restaurant is clean and was filled with people, which was a good sign. Decent Chinese food. The design of Noodle King makes clear its focus is to quickly serve as many people as possible. We split the calamari and the sizzling noodle. The calamari tasted fresh and the sweet chili sauce served with it was tasty. The seafood in the sizzling noodle was a bit bland, but the sauce itself was tasty. Noodle King is a tough one to rate. I give the food a 9 out of 10. It is delicious, classic, Cantonese food served in large portions. The price is not cheap but reasonable for the large portion size. I give the ambiance about a 6 out of ten. There's no way to say this other than to say this, it always smells a bit bad inside. Maybe because it is crowded, maybe because the kitchen is not well vented, but the smell puts me off enough that I go there less often than the food quality would merit. Still, I do go there. For the pan fried whole flounder with ginger and scallions - ample for two people, sufficient for three - the fried tofu with bean sprouts - a simple but enjoyable dish- the greens with garlic, the beef with sour cabbage and the classic dry chow fun. The noodle soups are a good lunch choice- again very traditional and classic. When I go to the garden center next door I often have a duck noodle soup. read more

The salty calimari is above average and fried rice is good, and the Hong Kong fish fillet is always a favorite of mine. When noodle king first open the food was amazing but I feel like recently the quality has been dropping. Prices can be a little pricey depending on the food you want. Great food! Lobster was delish as was the snowpea tips! Peking duck had good flavor but the wrapper was thick and not enough of them. Not enough Scallions and no cucumbers. We asked for the latter and they said they don't serve with the duck. I was surprised. They did bring more scallions upon request. From the highway it looks like a rundown hole in the wall but when you drive around back, you see the actual entrance. The door is surrounded by tropical perennials, and there's even a beautiful vegetable garden Tucktaway in a corner. The front windows are lined with healthy gorgeous tropical house, plants You you go in and it's a tiny little restaurant, but you were greeted so warmly by one of the staff and Service is more prompt and more attentive. Then I've had in a really long time. She immediately brings you a pot of fresh hot tea and glass of ice water They answered questions about the menu, which was extensive and overwhelming, because everything's totally sounded incredible, and I liked that it wasn't filled with American Chinese food. Needless to say we were extremely excited to get our meals. It seems like only minutes before they delivered our food and I know that wasn't true because it was really fresh and hot. And oh my gosh everything everyone God was sheer perfection from the crispy beef to the shrimp dumpling soup to the Happy chicken and then when I got, I can't pronounce, but we each tried each other's food, and they were absolutely the best Chinese food we've ever had Oh, I live in western northern Virginia, so I'll probably never be able to come again and it breaks my heart because it literally was the best Chinese food I've ever had in my entire life I highly recommend this place to everyone read more

First time back in two years: I was highly pleased. My wife, a guest, and I went for lunch. We arrived about 1:15, in order to skip most of the lunch rush. I was going to order a couple of my all time favorites (spicy pickled cabbage, and my ever favorite Pepper salt pork chops). Before I could open my mouth, the waitress recognized me from more than two years ago and said are you going to have your favorites again? It was nice to be so remembered. Our table also ordered Mongolian beef and Pad Thai. The Mongolian beef was super! Smoky and rich with lots of beef. I liked my pepper salt pork chops and pickled cabbage. Our guest said she liked her Pad Thai, but to my taste it was not quite as adventuresome as before: The noodles were a different shape, and it lacked a little bit of curry. So happy to see they are still in business and doing well. Thanks to the decline of the pandemic we will probably be seeing that restaurant more frequently. read more

Noodle King is an excellent Chinese Restaurant, that has been my go-to in the Colesville-Silver Spring area for a couple of years now. We used to travel to Rockville to eat at Joe's Noodle house, but I believe it was sold or lost a key chef and the quality went downhill, so we stopped. Though it does not have the Sichuan items I loved at Joe's, it has an excellent selection of authentic and conventional Chinese cuisine. I have tried a number of appetizers, soups, noodles and entrees, and they have all been excellent. The egg rolls aren't too greasy. I especially like getting an order of Hunan pork and Szechuan string beans to go and having enough food for a couple of meals. I love Singapore noodles and theirs are very good. Noodle King is a cut above the rest and if you live near the Colesville-Silver Spring area, you should try it and see if it should be your go-to place for Chinese food too. read more

All the recommendations I received for this place were rave reviews. So, meeting my family decided to come here and try it. As I drove up, I was unsure of whether I even wanted to step into the place. It looked like a rundown, American Chinese take out place. I was not impressed. I know better than judge a Chinese restaurant by its cover, but it was a near thing! Inside is a clean, hole in the wall restaurant. No frills, no table cloths but at least the place is clean! I read something in someone else's review about the bathrooms, but the women's bathroom seemed fine. Every Cantonese restaurant my family visits, we get the basics, chicken or duck, snow pea leaves, eight treasures hot pot, pan fried noodles and beef chow fun. This is how we judge Cantonese food. It was spot freaking on! I think we found our new spot! Move over Wheaton, this is a place you'd never know how good the food is because the outside is kind of scary. I'd seen the Noodle King listing A LONG time ago on Yelp, in a galaxy fairly close to this one. I remember being like... "oh, a Chinese restaurant that focuses on noodles, and it's highly rated" I can put that in my jive basket. But because it's in such a curious place on New Hampshire Ave in between Brockway, North Haverbrook, and Ogdenville, I just was never nowhere near there. Or if I was... I didn't know it. Clarification, one of my friends actually lives like a couple of miles from this place... but I had NO idea when I visited her house. We were a bit too busy binge watching xmas movies and drinking mimosas till we took midday naps. Disclaimer... without this place having as solid Yelp reviews as it has. I probably would not eat at this restaurant. The bathroom is... well... *if you could only see my facial expressions* It's rough... not just around the edges. It's rough in the middle. The whole place just makes me question how clean the kitchen is. I just never really understand that. Like yeah... it sucks to clean the bathroom. Noone likes cleaning the bathroom... but ya gotta do it. Well... maybe their success goes against the grain of my last statement. Maybe they don't need to do it. Because of such strong Yelp ratings, and from people I know and trust, I was like "Yelp Trust Fall!" We ended up getting the half peking duck, Malaysian Style Kwan Teu (which is basically the wide noodled version of curried Singapore Noodles), Crispy Fish Hong Kong Style, and Shrimp Toast. I can tell you that all of the dishes we got were fantastic. I know that some of them suffered the ride home ( especially the crispy fish) but the flavors were still on point. The shrimp toast was unlike any other shrimp toast I've even before, and it was served with the sweet and sour sauce that you think of when you think sweet and sour chicken/pork. Service was fast and efficient. Ambience is ok. The food was a disappointment. The breading on the calamari and the crispy eggplant had no salt or any other spices, so basically greasy and flavorless except for whatever sauce you drowned it in. The general Tso's chicken was sweet, but had no spicy heat or any other flavor at all. You COULD actually taste the curry seasoning on the Singapore noodles, so that was the best of the dishes, but still bland compared to other places I have had it. The peking duck was perfectly cooked in that the skin was very crispy and the meat very tender, but again, also without any discernable seasoning. The flavor had to come from the hoison sauce that you use with it, and that was good as in regulation like you would get from a grocery store, but the pancakes for wrapping were too thick and also bland, so like eating flour. I wondered if they just did this because we aren't chinese and they think we don't like any flavor? I really can't understand the high marks from others for this place. read more

I'm sad. I'm sad because this place has received so many compliments by mouth that I've heard & from other Yelp reviews. It's a much loved local eatery in my community, I can see this. Even my own family member raved about what she had for dinner with her friends here recently. As for my experience here after all the facts, I have to be honest, it wasn't remarkable to leave a lasting memory. My aunt had raved about their roast duck, and a fried tofu dish. My folks & I ordered a duck wing noodle with soup, beef chow fun, and the very popular fried tofu. The duck wind noodle soup was just that, a few pieces of fatty duck pieces with 5% meat (not including the one wing itself), egg noodles in a semi flavorful broth (the fat from the duck was what gave it most it's flavor). I've had beef chow fun at many other Chinese restaurants before, heck even places that claim their cuisine is distinctly similar to Hong Kong cuisine, their beef chow fun was ok. Oily, wok seared flavor, not nearly enough beef to chow fun ratio. The most delicious dish we collectively had was the fried tofu. Hot, crispy, soft as pillows on the inside, not too salty with a little bit of a spicy kick. I would recommend this place if you're starving or haven't ever tried a good Hong Kong style addition to your plain Chinese food routine, but I would pass on coming back. And no, I did not even attempt to use their bathroom to rate their bathroom. read more

I have been a regular for years and I've literally never had anything bad from them. There are definitely some stand out dishes though that are stand out. Some favorites are: Salt fried pork Crispy chicken Fried eggplant Twice cooked pork Peking duck noodle soup It looks small from the outside but there's plenty of parking as well as seating inside. They have large tables for big family dinners and also smaller ones if you're dining with a smaller group or yourself. Service is also pretty fast and prices are extremely reasonable for the portion and quality that you get. Hope they stay open forever! read more

According to my husband, "It's so freaking good, my favorite restaurant." It may seem like a hole-in-the-wall establishment, but my goodness is it good!! They bring out the food so quickly and they have so many menu options to choose from! We get a few different items and eat it family-style every time! AND you get complimentary dessert (tapioca pudding) every time! The employees are so hard-working and kind. Our Uncle took us there one afternoon after church and we were skeptical when we walked in. I came here with my husband's family a handful of times. The outside of Noodle King Restaurant is a little unsettling, but don't be scared off... give it a try! :) As you enter the restaurant, my biggest piece of advice would be to avoid sitting to the left of the entrance door at all costs. My first visit here, I was stuck sitting there. The restaurant is TINY and the seating to the left is right by the bathroom... you can see where this is going... I was literally holding my breath the entire meal -_- I would not have gone back, but the food was really good and my husband's family loves this place so I went back and happily seated NOT next to the bathroom :) As a table we ordered a bunch of items off the menu to share: - Hot & Sour Soup - Spicy, I liked it! Lots of pieces of tofu and veggies in the soup. - Fried Tofu - The BEST dish that they have here... a must try! We ended up ordering two plates because that is how much we loved it. The outer layer of the tofu has a nice crisp, but as soon as you bite in the soft tofu melts in your mouth. You won't regret ordering this :) - Walnut Shrimp - The lettuce on the plating was awkward and did not taste good with the shrimp. The shrimp itself was cooked well and the sauce was good. This was my second favorite dish here. - Deep Fried Spicy Salted Shrimp, Scallop & Calamari - The breading was great on this dish, perfectly fried. The seafood itself was good, but the one comment I have was that the calamari seemed a little undercooked. - Fried Rice with Fish - Average dish, not terrible and not amazing. The portions are huge though. - Seafood Pan Fried Noodle - The bok choy seemed undercooked, but other than that the dish was good. A little more sauce would've helped too since the noodles were very dry without it. - Chicken Chow Fun - Chicken was well seasoned, noodles were good... I am not a huge fan of beansprouts so this was not one of my favorites. If I came back I would order without the beansprouts. - Snow Pea Leaves - Tasty, added some greens to our table :) Overall, the menu offers a huge selection of Chinese dishes at a reasonable price. The service can be a hit or miss, depending how busy it is... one time I came and staff were super attentive and another time I came we were waving our arms around like maniacs to flag staff down to remind them of our drink orders... MULTIPLE times even after food had already been brought out -_- The weekends can get busy and the parking lot is tiny. I will likely be back here at the request of my husband's family :) I would recommend this spot if you want tasty Chinese food, takeout is an option too if you want to avoid delayed service or bad seating. read more

My go to spot when I want a hot meal. I usually order the shrimp balls appetizer which is a blast of flavor in every bite. Walnut shrimp is a favorite dish of mine. Salt and pepper fried fish will melt in your mouth. The owner and waitresses are always so pleasant. Parking is a flat lot with a ton of spaces.
