Every time we come to Nonno's we have an amazing experience! This is my go to neighborhood restaurant. Bill the manager took such good care of us! The ambiance in here is super cute at night. Perfect for a date night or dinner with the kids (cool selection of vintage pinball machines) decor is perfect feels like we are stepping back in time. Thin crust pizza, fresh made pasta, and even a few arcade games. It's hard to go wrong with that combination. The pizza crust is super thin but still somehow able to hold its own against all of the delicous toppings. Fungus among us pizza: sauteed/roasted onions and mushrooms have never tasted so good before. This is combo is full of flavor and is delicious. Meat head: pepperoni, sausage, and capicola are classic toppings that do not disappoint. Spaghetti and meatballs: our waitress told us the pasta is all made fresh in house and the difference is certainly noticable. When I cut the meatballs open, I was really concerned because it was pink inside. But then our waitress informed us the meatballs are a mix of really high quality beef and pork and assured us they were fully cooked. Phew! Came here on a weeknight and tried their caesar salad, Indian style pizza, chicken piccatta, and N/A spritz. The pizza was excellent, sliced into rectangles, thin and crispy. The salad was a hefty portion, and the cheese was lovely. Chicken was outstanding, super tender and flavorful. The spritz was also great and tasted the same as an alcoholic one. My boyfriend and I live in the area and stopped by late last night for a quick bite, as this has been a place we've been wanting to try. On a positive note, we were greeted kindly by the hostess and then by Min at the bar, who took our to-go order. Min was genuinely one of the best servers I've ever had--kind, patient, and incredibly helpful walking us through the menu. If he sees this, thank you for the great service. Me & my boyfriend jokingly were saying "Min deserves better" once we got home lol. We ordered mozzarella sticks to eat at the bar, along with a pizza and sandwich to go. Unfortunately, while eating our mozzarella sticks, we saw a small German roach crawl across the bar, which immediately ruined our appetite. I politely asked to speak with the manager, who arrived just as our food was being brought out. I started by mentioning how great Min was, then explained what we saw and that we preferred to leave without the food. The manager seemed completely unbothered, did not apologize, and offered no acknowledgment of the situation. While I understand it wasn't his personal fault, a simple apology or concern would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, we won't be returning and will be encouraging friends to explore other options. I had seen this place pop up on my fyp for a hot minute. Was finally able to try it and did not disappoint. The inside is very retro. Service is great. Very welcoming staff. Wow! This is our new favorite pizza destination! We ordered and deconstructed two amazing thin crust pies. The little green saag pie was the best Indian style pizza we've ever gnoshed. Spiced spinach dip, feta, onion, potato and curry yogurt. The build you own pie we got was just as tasty. Pepperoni and lemon ricotta...who knew this would be this good?! They bake the pie and then use a pastry bag and put florets of lemon ricotta cheese on it....There was a little bit of the green saag left and we let our kids take it home, reluctantly, there was none of the pepperoni with lemon ricotta left. Our son enjoyed a True Anomaly Small Giant draft beer...it was very good....i stole a sip....should have got one of my own. Riley Made us feel at home, the service was as great as the food. The decor and antique video games/pinball machines add to the charm of tthis place. I picked up a Pizza with wild mushrooms and chicken last night togo. The pizza was awesome, fresh, very delicious, crispy, moist without being too greasy and full of very tasty toppings. The mushrooms are really good quality and you can tell they aren't the typical ones you buy. The grilled chicken pieces were soft, juicy and almost gave off a fajita fling to the pizza too. The crust was crispy like a good cracker with a toasty vibe, which is essential in pizza crust. The cheese was savory and thick. The sauce wasn't too high in amount, but tasted great with a smoky, tangy n mildly sweet blend of aromas to it. The service was very helpful, welcoming and efficient. Not to get off topic, but this pizza place is so much better than Luna's down the street imo. Nonno's is also one of my favorite pizza places in TX. It's like a bit of Chicago Thin Crust mixed with N Y or C T Tavern and a smidge of something else Houstonian all in one for their pizza. Finally trying Nonna on a Thursday night and picked up around 6:30. Our online order took about 30 minutes. Walked in and they were busy. I saw a good sized Bar area as well a mini arcade games area. Found out the pick up window is on the right side of the entrance. The Specialty pizzas looked good but we couldn't agree on which one so we ordered a BYO-Wild Mushrooms, Jalapeños and Bocherones. enjoyed the smoke on the mushrooms and the Boquerones were mild and not salty-Very good. Also ordered a cheese which was okay. Crust is thin and for some in our party maybe too thin. Chicago cut slices. The Grandma slices were on the menu but we couldn't order and found out they no longer offer the Ribeye and Veggie slice. (Due to lack of demand). Saw a post on IG and decided to stop in on a random weekday after work. When I pulled up off Richmond let me say there is not a lot of parking available so if I lived close I'd probably uber. When I walked in the vibe was giving vintage 80s throwback. When I sat at the bar I was immediately greeted then waited about five minutes for a menu. Upon reviewing the menu I noticed this spot didn't have a happy hour. I asked the bartender what items she liked and she was very knowledgeable. Showed her the pizza I wanted and placed an order for a pepperoni and an order of the wings. It had a different type of aioli sauce on it not my favorite. What was crazy was when the pizza came out it want hot and looked as if it had been sitting out for a while. When I asked the bartender she stated that it gets cold because it's a thin crusted pizza. When I tried it I was like it just okay. I feel like she could have offered to remake the pizza but I didn't want to cause an issue because I never know if they might do something to my food. I wanted to mention that if you're a drinker this might not be the spot for you as they have a very limited bar. In total it was $19 pizza, $13 for about five wing dings and maybe $3 for a beer. My boyfriend and I were on a date night and had just left a concert the other night when we both wanted to grab a quick bite somewhere. Since we were downtown, Nonno's popped up on our search and we decided to give it a try. Having heard that they had won an award for top restaurant in 2023, we were intrigued to try the food! I'm a huge fan of something simple done right so I was hoping that they were just as good as other reviews were saying! When we arrived, we were greeted by a host. This was about 11PM and they close at midnight. We were seated and provided menus quickly for us to be able to look at what Nonno's had to offer. After talking through the menu, our server came by to ask us how we were and if we were ready to order appetizers. We both said we were interested in just ordering the pizza so he explained to us how their pizza's worked as far as specials to making custom ones. We decided to go with the special Maui Wowee and an order of cacio pepe since I wanted to try some pasta. Our server asked if we wanted to have it all out at the same time which we said that was fine and then we also had drinks. The Pasta was perfectly cooked with a nice bite to the noodles, the sauce was perfect. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I love a great thin crust with some char and crunch and this had everything I wanted! I don't mind the pizza being cut in squares since it's smaller pieces and easy to eat, but I'd say that there's no crust in the middle pieces which is the best part. I LOVE their ranch dressing. It tastes so fresh and I got some to take home for the left over pizza that we couldn't finish. We had no trouble getting a table around 7:30 on a Saturday. Ambiance was pleasant, service was friendly. I honestly would just come pack for the drinks, the frozen Negroni and frozen pornstar martini was soo delicious. The pizza was just fine, I think the style just isn't my favorite. If you're a fan of a really thin crust pizza it may be for you. We also ordered the mushroom cavatelli and a turtle cake inspired cheesecake. The cheesecake slice was very generous and it was super rich, definitely ideal to split between 3-4 people lol. First time here. Came out to dinner with friends. Place is very nice and loved the atmosphere. The place is small and not a lot of seating, but loved the chairs very comfy and the style just beautiful. There's a small arcade section which is nice. Now the thing that was a big no for me was our waiters response to my son grabbing the menu. I always take a picture of him with the menu to capture places we go to eat together. I know he was about to fold the menu and I was about to grab it but before I could our waitress out of nowhere slammed her hands over the menu and took it and left the table, she came back and said sorry and brought a piece of paper and a crayon saying how it's expensive to print. I definitely understand, but the way she responded could have been better, so it definitely did not sit well with me. For the food, I thought the pizza was very tasty and perfectly made. Nonno's is in the same parking lot as the toasted coconut. It can get very busy so just to be on the safe side, avoid the parking lot and do street parking lol. We got the short rib noodles that they had put on the menu that day. Absolutely amazing. Didn't know that they had a reverse happy hour sort of special going when we got there so we got wings at a very heavily discounted price. Been meaning to check this place out, and finally got the chance last night. It did not disappoint! First of all, they do not take reservations, which worried me a little because of the recent popularity of the restaurant. The website clearly says walk-ins only, but I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived that our party of four was able to be seated immediately. Admittedly we were there at 9 pm on a Friday, but the place was pretty full! We loved the ambiance inside. It has a pizza-nostalgia vibe, with old Pizza Hut chandeliers and dominos lining the bathroom walls. There is a lot of early 90s-style wooden and tile furnishings, a wall of arcade games, a gumball machine, and an antique sound system that all added to the fun atmosphere. The music was a little loud (we had to yell our orders at the waiter), but overall we all really liked it. We had the mozzarella sticks to start, that came with either Hot Larry or Marinara sauce. We chose both, but the Hot Larry sauce was the best! Did have a little kick though. We split three pies between our group so we could try more, and ended up with plenty to take home. The pizzas were Chicago tavern-style, with thin crust and sliced in squares rather than triangular slices. We tried the Wise Guy, Broccoli Garlic, and Maui Wowee pizzas, all of which were pretty good! Very unique pizza combinations offered (with the exception of the Maui Wowee, though still an eccentric one!). Our only slight complaint was that the ricotta on the Broccoli Garlic seemed as though it could use a little salt. We also got to try some cocktails, which were great! We had the Frozen Pornstar Ritas and the Taylor Street Rita, and would recommend both! Great vibe, good food, good drinks, and a late night kitchen?! We will be back! read more

I really like the vibes and ambiance of this place because it has a cool retro feel to it, and there's even arcade games on the side. I like how there's a lot of booths too, and the seating makes it feel more intimate. We got kind of a classic pesto pizza with some pickled veggie on it, and it was good, but if we didn't get the ranch dipping sauce (so delicious by the way) it would have been just ok. We also got to try the garlic dipping sauce from one of our friends, and that was good too, but would definitely recommend ranch over that. My friends got the Maui pizza, and that was pretty good too, but again needed the dipping sauce to take it to the next level. The pizza slices are also thin crust, so I feel like the sauce on the actual pizza is important, but it was lacking (I would've liked an extra layer of sauce on the pizza). My main complaint is that the wait time was so long to get our pizzas. Our waiter was also getting turned around pretty often and forgot to bring us a couple things until we reminded him. DELICIOUS! I went for my birthday. It was about a 30 minute wait (Sunday night), a bit packed, but the service was fast and the pizza was superb. I created my own with garlic, jalapeno, and banana peppers, & ordered mozzarella sticks. I will say I didn't enjoy the smoky marinara sauce that it came with. As for the pizza, I had leftovers for an entire week, and the crust was very thin and crispy, yet not burnt (a mistake many pizza places succumb to). My favorite mid range casual restaurant in all of Houston. First of all it's such a fun atmosphere and interior design. The nostalgic vibe with the video games, the little arcade, the color palette and the vintage baseball cards that come with the check.... It's all so fun and well thought out. The food? Insanely delicious. Quality ingredients. You can tell the owner cares about the details and that includes the little things that make the flavors special. My husband loves Kenji Lopez who is a YouTube food reviewer and chef. He recommended Nonnos and I'm so glad he did. The best appetizer is the mozzarella sticks. They're the best I've had IN MY LIFE and i really like mozzarella sticks so i know what I'm talking about they have this truly unique and incredible flavor. The breading i suspect has a little Parmesan. It's delightfully crispy. It comes with a spicy marinara which i enjoyed, but you don't even need to dip for them to be delicious. I could really write a dissertation on how good these mozzarella sticks are. Recently tried the crispy garlic parm potatoes and they were also SO good. Flavorful as hell and a great thing to share. So filling so be careful The pizza crust is that delicious cracker style crust that requires being in the freezer overnight. The crunch is so nice. It's like a thin crust pizza but on steroids. I tend to stick with the a classic pepperoni pizza. They have those delicious little mini crispy pepperonis. Nonno would be disappointed!!! We went to Nonno's for my friend's birthday dinner, and unfortunately the entire experience was overshadowed by the manager, Andrea. I rarely leave negative reviews, but her behavior was so unprofessional that it truly needs to be addressed. Our group of 13 arrived simply wanting to celebrate, and right away we ran into issues that could have been handled with basic communication and kindness. We brought a few cupcakes, and were told there was a $3 per person fee to eat them -- surprising, but something we could have worked with. Then we were told we couldn't sit in a booth because it was "too close to the steps." We politely asked for clarification, and that's when Andrea came over. From the moment she approached our table, her tone was tense and dismissive. Instead of explaining the policies or trying to help us problem-solve, she made us feel like we were bothering her. Her only "solution" was to tell us we could sit outside or leave -- no apology, no attempt at hospitality. What made the whole situation even more confusing was that the arcade games are positioned right next to those same steps, in a cramped space where kids stand and play. It didn't feel consistent or logical. The food issues added to the frustration. We requested regular marinara instead of spicy, and were told the change was made -- but the pizza still came out extremely spicy. Only after asking again did our server mention they drizzle chili oil on top, something not listed on the menu. On top of that, they do not allow separate checks for large parties, only an even split for the whole group, and they add a 22% automatic gratuity. They did comp the spicy pizza, which we appreciated, but even that positive moment was overshadowed when Andrea returned to the table. She slammed the check down abruptly, said "who's taking care of this," and immediately stomped away. Not a thank you, not a quick explanation -- just more cold, dismissive energy. To be honest, the food itself was fine. The issue was the atmosphere created by management. Restaurants thrive on good customer service, and Andrea's approach made the night far more stressful than it needed to be. Her attitude set the tone, and unfortunately it wasn't a good one. I truly believe that with a different manager, our experience would have been completely different. Andrea may be overwhelmed or simply not suited for a customer-facing leadership role, but the way she handled every interaction was unprofessional and unnecessarily harsh. Because of her behavior, our entire group agreed that we would not return. We've always been a fan of Nobie's and Toasted Coconut and have been regulars for years so we were excited when they announced their new concept! We couldn't wait to see what this team could come up with, especially in a very family friend pizza joint! They specialize in New York tavern style pizza! Think super thin cracker like crust! We came shortly after they opened and didn't have any issues snagging a table. The interior was very simple but reminded me of the 80s.. with the subway tiles. There's a small arcade area for the kiddos.. and there's always karaoke-able songs playing! I hear their arcade games are going FREE soon! I believe drinks are all wine based or pre-mixed. Now the food.. I was super duper excited to see a small selection of house made pastas on the menu as well as the pizzas! I love love love Nobie's pasta! They didn't disappoint here either! We had the mozzarella sticks, gooey mozzarella that pulls out to arms length after that first bite :) paired with a spicy marinara sauce (don't worry, they also have a regular option if spice isn't for you). Didn't do anything for me and wish that was called out. Charged extra for banana peppers that were offered and was not told it would be an up charge. 22% tip for a table of 3 adults and 3 kids automatically tacked on. Ordered a kids buttered noodles and was charged $16. It truly felt like a dishonest dining experience and took away any of the enjoyment. Love love loved Nonno's! Went with a couple friends on Friday night not realizing how cute/cool of a place it was - vibes were high!! There was about a 45 min wait but we went during peak dinner rush on a Friday so that's expected, so we just grabbed a few stools at the bar and it was perfect. Every single staff member from hostess to bartenders to servers were amazing - so friendly and checked on us often! We ordered some beer and espresso martinis while we waited and they were able to transfer our tab over to our table which I really liked. For apps we went with the crispy potatoes and mozzarella sticks. Y'all... the cheese pull on the mozz sticks was something out of a cartoon it was so amazing, those were my favorite for sure. Walking in, the simultaneous theme of upscale retro was dazzling and so endearing! We were seated at a great table about 40 mins before close as a 2 top. Our hostess Rosa was our favorite part of service, as she was personable and thorough with recommendations and specials. While bussing service was quick and efficient at keeping our table clean, we felt extremely rushed. We had 2 apps, a pizza and pasta. We've seen this place driving back and forth Richmond Ave and was wary of trying it after seeing some negative reviews online, but we finally decided to give it a try upon returning from thanksgiving. They serve tavern style pizza, and have happy hour after 10 ish pm I believe! The staff was very friendly and gave us enough time to decide on our food. My husband has been asking me to try this place for weeks once we saw that the owner's had changed. We were big fans of the food at Toasted Coconut and are always on the hunt for good pizza in Houston. The menu is still under development and they did have 3 pasta options when we went even though the pasta section on the menu is blank. I figure they're testing some things out before finalizing the permanent offerings. We kept our order simple and wanted to try their tavern style and grandma's style pizza. My husband typically loves crispy thin bar pies and was very excited to sample the chicago tavern pie. We went with the meathead and it came out piping hot and gooey. This is an impressively thin pizza with a crunchy cracker-like crust. The two closest options in Houston i would say are Capone's and maybe Tiny Champions. The way they cut it into squares was fun and would definitely be good to share with a group or kids. The quality of the meat was really good, lots of bold flavors. If you are a pepperoni lover, look no further. The grandma style pizza is on a soft foccacia dough and served in big squares, 2-3 people could definitely share a slice as an appetizer. Note this is NOT a sicilian style pie slice but if you want a chewy pillowy slice this is for you. The broccoli slice was a nice light option with some brightness from the lemon but i did feel it was lacking some salt (maybe a sprinkle of parm?). The nonno's style was delish and we loved the bolognese sauce. The interior is really hip and cozy, they nailed the vibe of a modern family pizza place. I do wish they would turn the music down a little (at least for the early dinner crowd) because i did feel it was hard to hear. It was nice to see a lot of small kids and families, they have high chairs available for little ones too! The servers were all wonderful and attentive. We went to dine at Nonno's tonight for the first time. The vibe and decor really tie in the old pizza joint feel. The booths are comfy and they have old school arcade games you can pay to play. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, wings, kids butter pasta, and I had a glass of red wine. The kids butter pasta was simple, but kind of expensive in my opinion for a small kids spaghetti noodle with butter ($16). Most places a kids meal is no more than $8 and that includes sides/drink. The pizza was good- it's a really crispy thin crust pizza. "Tavern style" as they call it. My husband said the wings were good but they weren't traditional hot wings. Arcade games were $1 a piece, and if you don't have cash/coins they'll let you put $10 on your card and give you a role of quarters. Again, I feel like that's a little expensive for pinball but on Mondays they said they have all day happy hour where games are free. Wine selection wasn't huge but was good. The cheesecake special sounded delicious but it was $15 a slice so we passed! Overall 3.6/5 stars- pricing could be better for a pizza/family spot. read more

This place is super duper hyped. Standing in line to go get pizza seems absurd, and the children by the arcade games are a lot to deal with, but annoyances aside their food and drinks are pretty A+. Haven't had a bad pizza here, but none of them really stand out to me as the true winner, which is a good thing maybe. The baqurones here are awesome, definitely check the Caesar out if you're into that sort of thing. Finally, it's a pretty sweet spot visually inside.
