My #1 pizza place in Houston! EVERYTHING is delicious but your life will be changed by Little Green Saag and the mozzarella sticks with spicy marinara . Great ambiance for a date night as well read more

First, I'm from the inner city of Chicago. I grew up in the late 40's and 50's. During that time we never saw/ate what is called "Chicago Style Pizza, -thick crust. We had a thinner crispy crust. Nonno's is the closest I have been able to come to the taste and type of pizza I remember and enjoy. The sauce is also slightly but not overly tangy. The mozzarella sticks are excellent and the price is reasonable. Definitely recommend and do return frequently! read more

Pizza is sooooo good. Cookies are sooooooo bad. Charcuterie board has no cheese . Overall (based upon the pizza alone) 4/5 but factoring in the other things it's somewhere closer to three. Would recommend the pesto pizza (build your own) read more

This restaurant has an awesome interior and atmosphere. The playlist is so fun and the layout just feels so nostalgic. It is walk in only, so no reservations but we only waited about 30 mins or so. The staff is super friendly and they do offer bar service while you wait. Now let's get into the food.... Mozzarella Sticks were ok, they were a bit too big for me but the cheese pull was top tier. Caesar salad was good, but there was a bit too much parsley mixed in. The wings were also good. Lastly, the pizza was good, served on a cracker thin crust so take that into consideration if you prefer something thicker. They do serve individual slices on focaccia bread. Overall the atmosphere alone would definitely allow me to visit this place again. read more

This is one of my new favorite spots. If you're like me and love 80's and early 90's R&B and pop music. Think all the radio hits from that time this is the place for you. It's Chicago style thin crust pizza. I love it although my daughter who is 12 not so much. I have had the pizza. The chicken piccata and the pasta de Pepe (sp) all were good. It's very family friendly and even has a few pinball and old school video games. I will definitely be back read more

I loved the vibes but the pizza was just ok. There is a parking lot and valet options so parking not too big of an issue. We had a slight wait which was spent at the bar so ok with me! They do not take reservations. One negative is they do not split checks by item which was annoying because it's more a of a group setting type place. Otherwise service was friendly and helpful. Will circle back eventually but not anytime soon. read more

I came here to eat for the first time a few days ago. We'd eaten at the nearby Toasted Coconut a few times and always saw this place doing a steady business. So we figured that the food had to be pretty good. We arrived at 5 on a Monday night and despite the place looking quite full, we got a seat quickly. The place had a somewhat out of touch ambiance to it. A weird blend of table settings and Pizza Hut light fixtures that made me think that the owners had learned first about what a pizza place was while listening to NPR, but had yet to actually go to one. Monday is their all day happy hour and the arcade games sprinkled about the place are free. We weren't waiting long for our waiter and the service was speedy. Prices is this place's real Achilles heal. Despite it being happy hour, beer ran 7-8 bucks. This place is open late, which would make it a nice after the bar place to stop for a pie and couple more beers before heading home, if the prices for two beers wouldn't cost you almost as much as a pie. Pizzas ran around 20 for a pie, and they were on the smaller, thinner side. Wings were half off on Monday, but an order of 6 runs 13 dollars. It's hard to sell me out the gate that a wing with one flavor option is going to be so good it warrants a 2.25 price tag per wing. We ordered one custom pizza and one little green saag, and they were tasty. However, they did feel more like a flatbread than a pizza. Wings were also tasty. Good crisp outside and juicy inside. The house made ranch that came with the wings I will say was odd. It felt like a mashup of ranch and blue cheese with a disappointing result. If you don't like both ranch and blue cheese, you wont enjoy this. Additional cups of it will be a 1.50 up charge. While the overall food quality and service was good - It just felt like we paid a higher price for a smaller amount of food than we got at other pizza places. I'd eat here again, but wouldn't be quick to suggest it to someone looking for a pizza place that won't break the bank. read more

The star of the menu is the mozzarella sticks app. Very cheesy and crunchy. Loved them. The spicy Larry's sauce was a good addition. The service was great. Very attentive waiters. The inside is cool. I loved the old school Pizza Hut chandeliers. We got the fungus pizza and it was burned on the edges but it was decent pizza. It had a mostly roasted onion flavor rather than mushroom. The Criss Angel sandwich was ok too. The beef was flavorful and tender but the vegetables on top were super tart, beyond pickled. There was so much of the vegetable mix on top that it made it hard to eat and over took the good beef and provolone cheese in the sandwich. I went for pasta but they don't sell pasta at lunch. I wish I had known this before we sat down. I left wishing I had ordered more of the mozzarella sticks. I'll come back and try the pasta and a different pizza or just order a few baskets of the mozzarella sticks! read more

The pizza and mozz sticks are phenomenal! The rest is awful. We arrive and are told it's a 20-25 minute wait. There are 4 groups ahead of us and I can see 4 empty tables, so we agree. They must be cleaning up those tables and the turn around will be quicker is what I thought. Nope. There were constantly 4 empty tables at a time during our visit. This tells me they are under staffing their shifts. We waited 30 minutes. During that 30 minutes my obviously pregnant (8 months) wife was offered alcohol 3 times. Then we got seated, and had to wait another 15 minutes before our server came to the table. By this time we know what we want. Our server instead wouldn't cut short her speech about their specials and went into heavy, heavy detail about their alcohol. Now my wife is still obviously pregnant at this point. The atmosphere is leaning towards a club in a boomer mom's kitchen. The music and decor came out of the late 80s early 90s. It felt like sitting at the breakfast table at home when I was a kid except the music is so loud that you can't have a conversation without raising you voice to an uncomfortable level or invading other's personal space. There's a mini arcade, which is cool I guess. Then it's time to leave. We've been there for for about an hour and a half and want to go, but no there's another speech and a push about desserts. We were more than ready to go by this point. In short this should be a 1 star review, but the food is awesome. If you choose to come, get takeout. read more

Disclaimer: this review is for the soft opening Nonno's is an ode to the 90s that will take you all the way back to the best parts of your childhood - fun-sized pizza squares, arcade machines, and a refreshingly retro design, complete with real-deal Pizza Hut chandeliers. With just a few minor changes, I feel like Nonno's has the potential to be totally radical; here's the 411: THE GOOD: Their commitment to the 90s theme is innovatively nostalgic. Too many restaurants subscribe to the same formula for success, resorting to tired sans-serif fonts, played-out color palettes, and overpriced nouveau international comfort food at egregious prices. Nonno's is unapologetically casual, dishing up unintimidating fare such as Chicago thin-crust tavern-style pizza (cut into squares for easy sharing), hot wings, and fried potatoes. I love that they're reinventing what it means to be a neighborhood pizza joint. THE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: - The music is really loud. Our family loved the 60s beach rock and the unmistakable sound that can only be produced by an 8-track, but the volume took away from our dinner. We were yelling back and forth at the waitstaff and each other the whole time. - I loved all the food, but the broccoli pizza could've used a little salt and a squirt of lemon to brighten it up. And as much as it pains me to say this... the Maui Wowie could've use a little Canadian bacon rather than the Spam... and I freaking love Spam. - I expected the frozen drinks to be refreshing, but they were heavy and syrupy. I'll probably stick to drinking next door at their sister restaurant, Toasted Coconut. All in all, their soft opening was really well done. I absolutely loved their wings and fried potatoes, and the pizza is definitely memorable. If a whole pizza is too much for you, they have some individual slice options. I can't wait to return for the Nonno's slice - if you're familiar with the famous pasta dish at Nobie's then you'll understand my excitement. Once they're in full gear, I'm definitely coming back to sample the full menu, which will introduce pastas, subs, and additional pizza/cocktail options. read more

If you like thin crust pizza this is the place! Great wings and cheese stick. Very friendly good service!!

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The host was incredibly rude; speaking to us in a way that even my own father has never spoken to me. It took over 15 minutes just to get a server, and when they finally arrived, they were just as rude. The food was mediocre at best, but the awful service completely ruined the experience. And to make matters worse, this wasn't even our first bad experience here. On a previous visit, the bartender was drunk and told my best friend and me that we weren't his favorite customers. When we brought the manager over, she had to comp our meal and apologize for his nasty behavior. You'd think after that disaster they'd try to redeem themselves, but clearly, customer service is not a priority here. I would rather get strapped to the back of an F150 and dragged through Richmond than step foot in that miserable excuse for a restaurant! read more

First off the ambiance was really nice. Music was good. Vintage vibe was cool. The service was good. But the food was not the best. The price was too high for the quality of the pizza. The toppings tasted good but the crust was not good. read more

My husband and I tried this place out after finding out it's the same owners as Nobies, which we love! Parking is somewhat limited in the actual lot but there's additional parking in the lot across the street. Walking into the restaurant feels like walking into a Pizza Hut from the 90s (but MUCH nicer). They even had some of the old lamps from Pizza Hut hanging by the bar area. It's a great dose of nostalgia, complete with some arcade games. It's definitely a curated and intentional vibe that I think they pulled off well. My husband and I arrived at around 7:30 on a Friday night and only waited about 15-20 minutes for a table. While we waited we got drinks at the bar. It took a while to get our drinks ordered bc the bartenders were incredibly busy--they would have probably benefitted from an extra set of hands. The drinks were amazing and strong once we did get them. Once we were at our table, we ordered the mozz sticks which came with a house sauce. Numerous waitstaff warned us that the sauce was super spicy but neither of us thought it had much heat at all. The sauce was pretty tasty, but the mozz sticks tasted a bit doughy. Would probably skip out on those next time The pizza is Chicago thin-crust style. My husband got the meat head and I did a DIY with broccoli, onions, and the house made giardiniera. Both pizzas were delicious, but slightly overpriced for pizza. We had plenty of leftovers and it reheated in the air fryer pretty well. Overall, it's probably not a place we'll go to super often just because it was so pricey for pizza, but it's a cute and unique restaurant, maybe to take visitors to or for a fun date night. read more

Excellent dinner entrees, great service and what a neat ambiance. The old reel to reel tape deck played current and music back from the 70's and 80's. What a neat vibe! You won't be disappointed. read more

Great first experience here. We got the amaretto sour and Negroni frozen cocktails both were very good, although they did unsettle my stomach for some odd reason. the crispy potatoes are a must get. We also got the meat lovers tavern style and a single slice of the grandma pie with broccoli. The tavern style was stellar dare I say the best thin crust I've had in Houston. The grandma pie left a little to be desired. The service was great at the bar and the ambiance was a ton of fun. I'll be back to again when they have their fill Menu released read more

Place is nice. Looks the part. Servers are nice and respectful. Pizza was not very good. Mediocre.

Interesting interior/vibe/concept -- It's reminiscent of a 90s Pizza Parlor with many of the tables resembling family-sized booths and even a section devoted to pinball machines and a couple of arcade games. The music was also pretty retro. When we went, it was quite a wait for a table for two (approximately 40 minutes?) However, we had the chance to grab a drink at the bar as we waited. In my opinion, the pizzas have potential. They came our piping hot, and I definitely see what flavor profiles they are going for. However, I think the ultra thin crust of the pizza kind of hurts Nonno's in the Houston Pizza standings for me, because it is just not very interesting texturally (meaning the flavors of the pizza need to do a lot more work). And without the Hot Larry sauce, I didn't think the pizza flavors on its own really wow'ed me. We had the... - The Veggie Pizza under "Grandma's Pizza by the Slice" - which was pretty fantastic, very fluffy 'pan' pizza crust, and it was also very tasty. (Note for the veggie lovers, it's less veggies than you might expect) - Maui Wowee with Larry's Hot Sauce on the side - I really liked that they cut the spam and pineapple sliced very thin. I totally agree that the pineapple 'chunks' often served on Hawaiian style pizzas are just too much... so I think this was a wonderful twist. As I mentioned before, without the Hot Larry sauce which I ordered on the side, I think this pizza would have been less enjoyable. In terms of drinks: I had the Paperplane Spritz which was quite interesting/enjoyable: Jim Bean, Amaro Nonino, Strawberry and Lemon. And an Aperol Spritz which was prepared with High Life instead of Prosecco (which tasted like a lighter beer). read more

Nonno's - Broccoli veggie pizza - Pizza Near Me - Houston, Texas

Very cool atmosphere with a retro and bit of a gaming vibe. Loud music (went on a Friday night). Came with two others and got sat right away but did wait about 6 mins before someone greeted our table. That's okay, it happens. We asked if they could turn the music down because we were shouting to hear each other. She basically said ":\ sorry no" which I get, I'm sure it's not her choice. The pizza was decent but for the price I was hoping for better. It was quite expensive. We thought about getting an app but mozzarella sticks were $15. Yikes. The pizza is veryy thin. The pepperoni pizza tasted slightly better than a frozen pizza. The Peter Lambo pizza ($25) was quite good. We asked another server if she could turn down the music (a bit annoying of us, but we weren't having a great time) and she said she'd ask but nothing changed. Whoever is in charge of the music, please turn it down. Overpriced pizza with friends is okay sometimes but definitely not in an establishment where I can't hear the folks I came with. Maybe I'm old. But it's too loud. read more

We had fun drinks and pizza at Nonno's. We tried the wise guy pizza, and I really enjoyed it--nice, thin crust and a little bit of a spicy kick. I also ordered a glass of wine, which was good, but I wish I'd ordered a cocktail instead--the cocktails looked really interesting, like the frozen negroni. A tip: we arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday, and I heard the hostess say it was a 45 minute wait for a table, but we were lucky enough to snag spots at the bar which are first-come-first-served and serve the full menu. read more

When we walked in it was a little more retro hipster casual than we anticipated based on other reviews and their website. The food and service was excellent. They have vintage Pizza Hut lampshades over a couple tables and old video games. We had a blast last night. We had the meat head pizza with roasted garlic added... so much garlic, they measured with their hearts for sure. The mozzarella sticks were worth the time just by themselves. read more

The only descent thing on the menu are the mozzarella sticks. Pizza was less than average and over priced. Super cool spot. As soon as you walk in you get hit with a wave of nostalgia for the og sit down pizza spots from back in the day. Sat at the bar and started off with some cocktails. The spiked eggnog was so damn good (didn't post a pic cuz it straight up looks like vomit). Ordered the crispy potatoes as an app and it was absolutely fire. The dip it comes with is elite. Ordered the wise guy pizza and it was delicious. I've had tavern style in Chicago and this was a really good approximation. Definitely want to try some pasta next time. Overall a really dope place but be prepared to wait. It was packed in there on a Saturday night bubba. Can't wait to go back. read more

Cool vibe. Love the reel to reel. We had the mushroom and meathead pizzas. Totally different, but equally delicious. Service was lovely.

We sat at the bar. The bartender was very good and helped us pick out a wine. We got a wiseguy and a pepperoni and cheese with a chopped salad. The salad was a standout. The mix of lettuce, meat, and cheese was perfect, and the vinaigrette was sharp, well seasoned, and it had just the right amount. I'd go back again just to get the salad. The Wiseguy was fun to try. It had sausage and giardinara. I'd get that again too. We always get a pepperoni and cheese because that's the best way to compare one place to another. The Chicago tavern style was very thin and crispy. The components all worked together. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. The whole place had a fun vibe. Definitely a "must try" on a tour of Houston's best pizza. read more

For appetizers, you can't go wrong with the Bada Bing, chicken wings, or mozzarella cheese sticks. When it comes to the main course, I'd recommend either the chicken piccata or the Wise Guy pizza. It's not just pizza, but the pizza is damn good. I love a thin crispy crust, so if that's not your style this might not be the spot for you. We started with the Mozz sticks and crispy potatoes. Don't skip the potatoes-- the sauce they come with (deep inhale) is creamy garlic heaven. So good! We got the Meat Head pizza and it was plenty enough to share between three, full grown, hungry adults. This place is a little loud, so it may not be the best place to take grandma. But it has video games and a shuffleboard table, so if grandma is cool then maybe. We sat at the bar and it was great. I will be back for sure. Oh damn. I almost forgot. THE CHEESECAKE. I've been back since just to get cheesecake to go. I'm not ashamed. I'd do it again. They have a vanilla bean slice and the sauce they put on top is (sheds a silent tear) beautiful. And if they run out of that they also have a maple with blueberry topping. Both are incredible. read more

I saw that in 2023, Esquire magazine named Nonno's as the recipient for best pizza joint. Since moving to Houston, finding good pizza has been more miss than hit and decided to give this place a shot. What really caught my eye was the fact that they had Chicago style thin crust, as a native Chicagoan I was sold. The place is cool as there is a mishmash retro feel from a mixture of 80's and 90's esthetics. The host was nice and its always good to be greeted by a cheerful person. I don't know if it was just the night I happen to be there, but the music was way too loud. I would get it if it was like a biker bar themed restaurant but it was difficult to have a conversation as you really had to focus. Server was good, she was really nice and very attentive so definitely points for the staff. No I didn't read the Esquire article, but based on the pizza alone I don't see how this could win top spot. There is way better pizza in Chicago all over the city, so my curiosity will need to find out what did Esquire judge. The pizza would be average at best compared to places in Chicago, the crust is really thin, the sausage didn't have the same kick, and the amount of cheese was minimal. If you're not from Chicago you may like it more than me, but for us transplants our search continues. read more
