Finally decided to try this place and it did not disappoint. We came in on a Saturday just after opening, around 11am. Located in downtown Vancouver with plenty of street parking available. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. We ordered the Margherita pizza to share. My husband also ordered a pint of beer on tap...can't remember the name, but he liked it. The restaurant was clean, as well as the restrooms. It's inside a pretty cool old building with tall ceilings. There's a huge skylight above the cool pizza oven. The pizza was super good! The crust was cooked perfectly, and nice and thin. There were great pockets in the crust with some char. The tomato sauce was super fresh, as well as the mozzarella. We would definitely order that one again. Since we shared the pizza, we decided to share some of their homemade ice cream as well. We decided on the chocolate. It was yummy as well. A really nice quality chocolate. Overall a great first experience! Would definitely recommend. We'll be returning to try some of their other pizzas and ice cream flavors. read more

This pizza place has some pretty damning reviews particularly of the service, however, my experience was positive. I came for the happy hour shortly after 5pm on a Friday and there was ample seating. The workers were friendly to me. One thing to note is that the website says they have $7 Margherita pizzas - they are now $10 (still a great deal). The pizza itself was spectacular and was larger than I expected. The crust was lightly chewy and not too burnt. The sauce was bursting with fresh tomato flavor and the mozzarella cheese complimented everything perfectly. I will be back for more great pizza! read more

After visiting little Conejo, my girlfriend and I wanted to give Nonavo Pizza a try. My girlfriend got the burrata pizza and I got the pepperoni. Both pizza were cooked to perfection, the crust was nice, thin and crispy and delightful to eat. My girlfriend was a huge fan of her burrata, saying she would overall give it a 4/5 because she thought it was a little too soggy and the toppings kept falling off. I was not a huge fan of pepperoni. I felt like the tomato sauce was too watery. Also, I'm still not sure that my pepperonis were in fact pepperonis. I ordered pepperoni and the waiter said it was pepperoni, but it looked and tasted like ham to me. You can look at the picture and be your own judge. For those two reasons I would give my pizza a 3/5. The inside was decorated nicely and it was very clean. The wait staff was also very pleasant. read more

I never really write reviews but my experience really has moved me to do so. I recently stopped in for some pizza, the pizza was good, a real Italian style that I can appreciate. I've traveled around Italy and have always leaned towards the more minimal style, not the one inch thick American version. The space is nice and clean, simple set up with a beautiful oven. The person who was working did treat me with a level of disdain and obnoxiousness that caught me off guard and ruined the experience. The exchange couldn't get out of my mind and I went down a rabbit hole, looking up the person from the shop and my god, how are they still operating a thriving business. A recent jail sentence for harassment (a plea deal of an initial charge of s*x abuse of a minor), multiple allegations of impropriety by past employees, countless reviews from customers saying they've been flipped off, yelled at, chased out, sweared at, so many documented experiences of responding to customers with rage (mostly moved to the not recommended section of yelp because they speak of experience rather than the food). Unfortunately, I also see a lot of the mentality that is present today, people saying - he didn't do any of that to me, so whatever. I guess until he assaults, disrespects or attempts to intimidate every person in Vancouver, he'll get a pass. For me, a business treating even one person who comes in with disrespect and irrational anger, we need to send a message this is not ok. People really need to stand together. Also, the whole "East coast" attitude thing doesn't track. I lived in the area and yes, there's directness, curtness at times, but straight out of the gate aggression and condescension, that's just being an entitled, wanna be "alpha male" with no control. TERRIBLE service. Nobody was eating here when I went in which should have been a red flag. There was one person working behind the counter with a horrible attitude who barely interacted with me. Pizza was left by register with card reader showing the charge amount. I asked for ranch and was told no that's a salad dressing and that only kids put that on their pizza in a rude tone. I thought he was joking so I asked again and was told they never had ranch and never will and that it's a salad dressing you don't put that on pizza only kids do. I was so appalled at his attitude towards customers and the way he talked to me. There's no need to be a jerk because someone likes ranch, a dressing AND dip, on their pizza. The pizza was also terrible, ordered a pepperoni and it came with SALAMI on it, NOT PEPPERONI. What is that, I say false advertising. The sauce tasted like SpaghettiOs. I will NEVER come back here. I visited Nonavo Pizza in Vancouver, Washington, on 8/24, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. While the pizza itself looked fantastic, my encounter with the owner/pizza maker completely soured the experience. As a pizzaiolo myself, I was admiring their beautiful pizza oven which sits front and center of their open kitchen. I decided to take a couple photos with my phone to capture the moment, and out of nowhere, the owner--who apparently thinks he's some kind of East Coast mob boss--started doing this bizarre, over-the-top impersonation, loudly asking me in an obnoxious tone, "Whatcha doing?" I replied, "Taking a picture of this beautiful pizza oven," which for some reason made him even more upset. What followed was a verbal beatdown that went on for several rounds. I found it comical at first, but as he progressed, he got louder and more obnoxious. His loud and abrasive demeanor made the whole situation uncomfortable, not really for me but more for the seated patrons who were enjoying their lunch. To make matters worse, his shouts were peppered with profanity. In an attempt to deescalate the situation, I mentioned that I was a pizzaiolo myself and have my own woodfired brick oven, hoping we could share some camaraderie. This only seemed to piss him off even more, making the situation even more awkward and unnecessary. To top it all off, he actually flipped me off--an incredibly unprofessional move--which I later realized was captured comically on camera. It would have been laughable if it wasn't so absurdly rude. Che cafone! Un vero stronzo! Despite his bad attitude, I didn't let it chase me away. I hobbled to the register and ordered three pies. For context, I was the man with the goatee, glasses, and walking canes with my wife and daughter who we were dropping off as a first year college student. As for the pizza itself, it was mediocre at best. We tried the Margherita, Marinara, and Anchovy pizzas, and all of them were disappointing. The dough was undercooked, and it was clear the oven temperature was too cold. For a place that prides itself on wood-fired pizza, this was a big letdown. The cheese they used wasn't even buffalo mozzarella, which is a basic expectation for italian wood fired pizza. And by the way, that oven sits proud front and center in the pizza shop, practically begging to be admired. If they didn't want the attention, they should have tucked it behind the scenes. After reading other Yelp reviews, I now see that I am not the first person this lunatic has exploded in anger with. It seems this type of behavior is a regular feature here. To the owner: Chill out. Non tutti sono qui per rubare i tuoi segreti della pizza. I was simply admiring the craftsmanship of your oven, not planning a heist. Your attitude is completely out of line. I won't be returning, and I definitely won't be recommending Nonavo Pizza to anyone. I rarely seek out pizza but when I have it I find that most are similar and nothing special until now. This was the most creative delicious pizza I have ever had. We had the hazelnut and a mushroom pizza. The hazelnut pizza in general sounded weird but was incredible. It was topped with a salad which is another thing I don't typically enjoy on pizza but the entire thing just worked. The mushroom came with fresh seasonal mushrooms and was equally delicious. Beyond dope!!! I was walking by and peered into Nonavo on my way to the public library. It confused me that the place was empty (although it was 11am). On my way back I peeked again and there was one table sat- I thought, "I'm hungry and how can you really mess up pizza?." Ordered a Margherita pizza with the intention of sharing it with my toddler. Well, she fell asleep...and Mama ate that WHOLE pie! Incredible flavor profile- the tomato sauce was bright, the crust was sour (in a good way), thin, and crunchy, and it was charred to literal perfection. Staff was also friendly- when I walked in I was given the lo-down on their pizzas that helped me make my decision. Thanks you, again! I don't really care about the register encounter at this point... I care that I didn't open my pizza until I got home and the pizza looks like soup?? Taste was fine but the soupy texture threw me for a loop. Just moved to this area and was looking for a good pizza spot. We loved the vibe when we walked in, the music, the art, etc. My fiance loves pizza and as soon as he saw the oven he was excited. He FaceTimed his dad to show him, and immediately the owner yelled at him saying to "turn the video off." He didn't give him a chance to explain and even said, "do I take pictures of your kids when I'm at your home?" We're in a public place, dude. We got the pepperoni and margherita pies. Small for the price but in all honesty, the pizza was amazing. We loved the sauce, the dough, and the oil you can put on top. Pizza is good, but the owner definitely needs to lighten up. Ok first we were asked to move twice from our seats to let a more suitable couple sit down maybe our dress attire wasn't suitable for the restaurant so we moved without incident then we get pepperoni pie and make the long trek thru the blistering cold to our motel room because yes we're outta towners and we heard about this pizza joint serving an brick oven pie that is to die for. Well let me tell you I might die after eating it its prolly the worst pie ive ever eaten it was a thin burnt peice of crispy dough with sauce an toppings strung about the the top of it topped off with 4 soggy pieces of spinach.
