I visited around 6pm Mother's Day by myself. Place was busy but I was able to order quickly and find a seat at the bar easily. You order at the bar then sit down with a table number. They bring the food to you. My food was delicious! I wish the spaghetti and meatballs had more sauce but I'll just order it with extra next time! Garlic bread phenomenal, my Caesar salad amazing. The service I received from the person at the front counter was great! long blonde haired woman. I totally should've tried to get her name so she could get praise from her peers/boss. I've never been to this location before but it's really nice! Pretty decorations lots of plants not sure if they were real but love the vibe.

3/4 of our dishes were good while the black truffle pappardelle was underwhelming. Service was very kind to us. We must've just beat the rush because it got pretty packed after we already ordered and sat down. Would recommend the pork belly mac n cheese but I'm also a sucker for a good mac n cheese

We went here for the kid who insisted she wanted pasta for dinner. Like every single night of her life. When we saw the fresh pasta sign, we knew that we hit pay dirt. The restaurant is modern and sleek. You order at the counter and they bring to your table. We ordered kid's portion of pasta pomodora which was a good size for a kid. She ate it up and liked it. We tried the red sauce and thought it was acidic, but she did not complain until we said something. So, IMO the food was 3 stars. But one of the guys behind the counter was very helpful when I tried to decide on a draft beer, none of which I knew. He gave some samples which was very nice. So I bump them up to 4 stars for service. The restaurant is not water front so maybe that affects the foot traffic. It was not very busy when we were there. Overall, it was a good experience and the kid was happy.

Some of the best pasta and brussel sprouts! We passed on the food trucks nearby once we heard there was home made pasta available and it definitely exceeded our expectations! The brussels have a dijon flavored sauce (my husband is not a mustard fan, but he said these were not over powering and just enhanced the flavor). The service was great friendly and quick and the margaritas were the best we have had all day! Craving pasta? You will love this place!

Grassa, on my list for a fairly quick yummy pasta! Upon entering you order at the counter and they give you a number that you take to a table. They bring you your food once ready. It's a relaxed casual vibe. Got the Black Truffle Pappardelle and the Spaghetti Al Pesto. The Pappardelle was really yummy! Perfectly seasoned and flavorful! My personal favorite! The Pesto Pasta also had a great flavor but the sauce was a little soupy. Could have been thicker. Overall really like Grassa and recommend getting a side of garlic bread to accompany your pasta!

They hand make thier noodles, which was a surprise, but it was absolutely delicous, I had the carbonara (FULLY recommend), and even though the portions weren't the biggest, they still where filling

This was my first time here. I had a good experience here. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. I really liked the meatballs as they had kind of a spicy sausage flavor. The pasta was really good and the sauce was pretty good too. I like that they have a few good microbrews on tap there. I thought the Cesar salad was really good too. It had an anchovy on top of it. The garlic bread was pretty good too. It was nice they dropped off our salad off at our table pretty much as soon as we sat down. I will come back here again for sure.

I came here one evening for dinner. There's street parking, but now also a parking garage just around the corner. It wasn't too busy when I came. We ordered the carbonara, black truffle pappardelle, and rigatoni Sunday pork ragú. We also got some garlic bread, meatballs, and their burrata. The burrata came with a nice crusty piece of bread, with lemon jam and pistachios. It was good flavor, but worth $17, not sure. The garlic bread is classic garlic bread. Their meatballs were good, had a hint of spice but nice tomato sauce with it. The carbonara really had no flavor super under seasoned, I thought I would really enjoy this one, but no. The pasta was cooked well, nice fried egg, and pecorino, there was 3 pieces of pancetta. I'm not sure if this is how the dish is supposed to be. The black truffle pappardelle had nice flavor. Rigatoni with Sunday pork ragu was my favorite. It has a nice red sauce with some pork (not that much). For a ragu, I thought it would have more meat on it. All the dishes are fine, wouldn't say amazing. I like that all the pasta is fresh. If I visit again, I'll probably order pasta dishes that are stronger in flavor such as their Rigatoni Sunday pork ragu or their fusilli allá vodka (...see my previous review).

Blueberries for breakfast and kiwi margarita

We ate. We drank. We celebrated. We can't wait to return. The girls at the counter & running around the restaurant were all so pleasant! The food was to die for! We had 2 fun drinks - kiwi margarita & blueberries for breakfast and 2 pasta entrees, & we shared corn ribs, garlic bread, meatballs that were divine, & a large chop salad that was amazing. It was a perfect night. The only thing I would ding is that it was a bit on the warm side in there on a very warm evening (103 outside).

I was in the area on a work trip and came here at least three times in a week. Every dish I tried was phenomenal, ordering was quick and easy. Tables definitely could do with a more thorough wipe down if I am being perfectly honest but the food just is amazing

    Facili Alla Vodka
    Michael M.

First time at this establishment and it was really crowded when we walked in at 4:00 pm on a Sunday evening! That's a good sign! I ordered the Fusilli Alla Vodka. Although it was pretty spicy, the Italian sausage and pasta were excellent! I also ordered the Garlic bread and it was on point. They have a wide selection of pasta dishes on the menu and it changes from time to time. That gives the frequent patron a nice variety to choose from. The decor was upscale and geared toward the "Uppy Class". This restaurant is a must try! My only complaint is the Spaghetti Carbonara wasn't authentic as the egg is scrabbled or over easy and not mixed raw with the spaghetti and cooked enough to coat the pasta! All in all, try this great restaurant, the vibe is badass! Oh by the way, our number on the table to get our order was 420, now what are the odds?

Soooooo good. We went for dinner with family who live locally and was so happy with the meal. We ate so much food. Prices were very reasonable and food came out quickly. Very kid friendly. Loved their beet salad, calamari and pastas. Everything was fresh and loved their seasonal selections.

Grassa used to be a go-to restaurant for me years ago, before they expanded to multiple locations, now it's nothing special. This recent visit I did a pick up order of the adult Miles Mac n cheese with a side of garlic bread. The Mac cheese sauce was ok, but was definitely lacking the sharp white cheddar flavor I used to love. The pasta used was still a fun shape and cooked al dente, which I appreciated. The garlic bread tasted like it had been sitting out for a bit too long and was tough to chew. Overall, pretty mid food, but it's a nice location on the waterfront that's less expensive than nearby restaurants.

I doubt it since you order at the counter and seat yourself. They bring your food to you but you take your drinks to the table.

The area has developed quickly and having grown up nearby and moved away years ago, it's amazing to see what's happened along here. Prices - well, everyone has their hand out along here. We were in town somewhat last minute staying at Hotel Indigo. The hotel provides $10 drink coupons so we decided to drop in for an impromptu drink while planning our dinner strategy. It was already 7p so no view but live music and a nice buzzy ambiance. Wait staff were fast and friendly, and before we knew it two delicious cocktails were in front of us. At the same time, I overheard the waitress at the table beside us saying that food could be ordered from El Gaucho downstairs. So we asked for a menu and started perusing. If you don't know El Gaucho it's a classic steak restaurant with lots of cuts and sizes, a sprinkling of seafood, the usual salads, and tableside this and that. A notch above Ruth's Chris, Morton's or The Capital Grille but with Peter Luger Manhattan prices. Yes, that's right, Manhattan prices in Vancouver. WA. The Couv is all grown up. Or at least trying to be, Like Witness Tree, El Gaucho has a mandatory 20% gratuity regardless of party size. Theoretically this shouldn't be an issue if you know restaurant culture and tip appropriately but I think a mandatory fee rubs many wrong to assume service will always be at that level. And on top of very high prices. A $72 6oz filet is $86, so those 8 bites better be damn good. That said, we ordered oysters, a filet, seafood pasta, and wine. The wine list was decent but not as extensive for a premium steak restaurant. Wines had the typical markup which meant $20-35+ per glass. Both the pasta and steak were good but - and this may sound picky - at $72 for 6 ounces of steak (a bar of soap) I expect perfection which means medium rare throughout. The steak was medium in some parts. If I can achieve medium rare throughout at home it should be possible here. So here's the math (rounded) for those interested. Total bill: $295. $225 food and drinks, $45 service fee (mandatory 20%), and $24 tax (8.8%). Interestingly, the 20% service charge is taxed which means we actually paid $49 or 28.8%. Had I been given the choice of my own 20% tip it would be applied to food and drink and a slightly lower bill. Not a huge deal but these are the little details - call it "nickel and diming" patrons - that rub many wrong. One note - another server came to our table before our food arrived and placed a steak in front of me. Before he could place the other dish I told him it wasn't our order. He picked up the steak and delivered to another table. In most restaurants - and certainly in a premium setting - that dish should have been remade. Whether perception or simple hygiene you simply can't do that. All in all, the Witness Tree was a nice spot, with tasty cocktails and ambiance. Prices and service fee will be off putting for some, and not sure this would be my go-to as there are many rooftop / view options nearby.

Intentionally set earlier in the day understanding the significance of the day. (Been together over 20 years.) When we arrived my husband kindly requested a window table with view of the water. The woman taking the reservation info advised that she would try, but "so busy" etc. We were sat at a half circular booth that was facing water but set back from water. I just want to note there were 7 tables open at window seating. 3 of which were 2 tops. We did have 3, so essentially for us, 4 EMPTY tables could have accommodated our request. 2 remained empty the entirety of our meal. So I just can't understand why this request wouldn't be granted. Waitress we were assigned was amazing. On top of things, refills etc. We got the wing appetizer, cheese curds, and the wedge salad as appetizers. They were all good. The wings I would get with no sauce. The sauce on them was very ketchup reminiscent. For the entrees we both did the steak frites. Fries were amazing. The steak was sooooo tough. Medium rare didn't save them. Our child got the half pizza and demolished. For dessert we got the cookie with ice cream and the valentines special cheesecake. Both were delicious. Overall 3.5. Could use some help at front. If you don't realize you have that many free tables and could easily accommodate a paying customer the table they prefer, it just simply doesn't make sense. At the end, I did ask manager why we wouldn't be able to sit where we requested and there really was just no good reason. It was just a shrug like it was a busy day. Like I guess maybe saving for make believe guests?? LOL unreal. It's not often I would question things. But this was just absurd. Again, I need to say, our waitress was amazing. Food was fine. Just a very weird experience as far as seating. Like who are you saving those seats for?? Anywho. Enjoy!
