    Tenderloin Steak

Kismet Restaurant absolutely saved our Valentine's Day--and then proceeded to exceed every expectation we had. After another restaurant overbooked and left us scrambling, Kismet graciously accommodated a late reservation and turned what could have been a disappointment into an unforgettable evening. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff set a warm, vibrant tone that carried through the whole night. The space itself is beautiful--modern fine dining with an inviting warmth that feels elevated yet comfortable, never stuffy. Every plate, from appetizers through dessert, was expertly prepared and thoughtfully plated. Portions were just right, ingredients were clearly high quality, and the execution was spot on across the board. The U10 scallops were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The tenderloin steak was tender, rich, and cooked with precision. The crab cake was incredible--easily one of the best we've had--and dessert was truly outstanding, the kind you talk about long after the table is cleared. To cap off the night, we asked the bartender if they could make an off-menu Nirvana bourbon cocktail. Not only did they say yes--they delivered the best version we've ever had, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted. Service was exceptional throughout. Our waiter, Kevin, was polished, professional, and genuinely attentive. Lacy, the manager, was warm and welcoming, clearly running a tight ship with care and pride. The bartender was fantastic, and the rest of the staff made the entire experience feel seamless and special. Kismet didn't just rescue our Valentine's Day--they made it memorable. Exceptional food, outstanding cocktails, beautiful ambiance, and a team that truly understands hospitality. We'll absolutely be back.

Was looking for somewhere new for dinner in Vancouver and realized a new 3 course dining spot had popped up so we had to go! This is a very cozy bright spot with great food and great service. I went with my husband so we were able to try a bunch of things, including: oysters, gravlax, beef tenderloin, pan fried duck breast, lemon creme brulee, and their apple galette. Everything was amazing but the gravlax, tenderloin, and galette were definitely the highlights! They have a good beer and wine menu but note that they do have a bar! They were able to make my husband an espresso martini which he enjoyed.

Spent our date night eating at this new restaurant in Vancouver and it was wonderful! Our server was a lot of fun and did an amazing job. The food was amazing, my espresso martini was superb, and the deserts were excellent. Were I to be nit picky, I would say the duck could have been crispier. While it tasted great, the parts that had that crisp were just next level, so if that could have been more uniformed it would elevated it. The bread and butter could have had a little something more. Perhaps even a salty butter, or flavored in some way. It was just not exciting. Keep in mind, those are just nit picky critiques! I will definitely be order the duck again so I was in no way disappointed. And I would absolutely recommend the apple dessert with the caramel! Thank me later. It was a great experience with great food, amazing service, and definitely worth coming back to.

Prix fixe menu - Dessert options! The Green Apple Galette was delicious!

Another great option and unique experience in Vancouver! The prix fixe menu had a lot of great options to choose from. Select an appetizer, entree, and dessert! Our table had the half dozen oysters, scallops, lamb chops, two different desserts. All balanced and delicious.

The meal we shared with friends was delicious. it is a fixed three course menu. I have a scallops and my husband had the pork tenderloin, but the star of the show was my friends steak. The apple tart for dessert what was the best of the choices I think, but each item was still really good. my only complaint is that I feel like our $170 dinner for 2, before drinks and tip should've been around $130 max ($65pp). The portions are very small. other than it being overpriced for what you were getting, it was a very good meal.

We're talking "Fred Meyer cheese counter" quality. Nothing bad, but just not great. The assortment of "dried fruit" was a small cup of dried cranberries. Meh. The real issue I have regarding our visit was the automatic 20% gratuity. I really hate this required tipping movement within the restaurant industry. I do wish they would just raise the prices and leave the tipping to me and my server to hash out. Sometimes the service isn't worth 20% of my bill. Really. Normally, there is a notice in Open Table or on the venue's website to alert of a required tipping policy. I saw neither prior to our arrival. In fact, I didn't notice any warning on the menu either but it was dark in the lounge and I may have missed the small print. I typically avoid restaurants requiring a service fee or mandatory 20% tip. This time they got me but I doubt we'll be back.

The Grant House is the oldest residence on Officers Row, originally built in the mid-1800s as part of the Fort Vancouver military community. You can feel that history the moment you walk in! The tall windows, the creaking wood floors, the way the rooms still hold that old-world dignity. The house was originally built with logs but then replaced. But from the looks of it some was preserved from the inside, which you can get a sneak peek when walking out of the bathroom and back into the dining space. For drinks, I had their cider, my fiancé chose a zero-proof drink, and both were delicious. My cider was bright, fruity and crisp, and his drink tasted thoughtfully layered, not sugary or flat. For dinner, we ordered the Garlic Caesar Salad, Butternut squash tagliatelle and the Seared pork chop, and they all felt like autumn served on a plate. The pasta was velvety and comforting, and the pork chop had that perfect balance of sear and tenderness, a dish that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate it. But what truly made the night unforgettable was Pam. She was an absolute delight, warm, present, and a talented host beyond measure. She played soft, romantic jazz piano through the evening, and at one point, my fiancé and I ended up sharing a slow, quiet dance right there in the dining room. The Grant House setting adds to the charm historic, softly lit, and easy to settle into. Pam made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. So excited to come back for the holiday dinner.

Our food was outstanding! We ordered a brie that had a fabulous fig sauce on top and then also we ordered a burger. That was absolutely incredible! The scallops are cute little guys and very tasty. All the skewers were delicious. I think next time I would skip the beef cheek poutine. The beef cheek was the best part and the other ingredients were just so so. Dessert? We got the chocolate pot de creme and chocolate lava cake. If you're just getting one, I'd recommend the chocolate lava cake. There are a lot of fun elements on the plate, great for sharing!

Even going on a Monday night, it was packed with people, however, we were able to snag a table for two without a reservation right away. The service was attentive and helpful. I got the full portion of the smoked mushroom ravioli and I absolutely loved it. I appreciated that the portion was quite large because too often ordering ravioli means you barely get any pasta. The sauce was decadent, savory, smokey, and had a hint of sweetness, which pulled everything together.

Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.

I have 2 friends that have been reluctant on this place from previous "not good" experiences, and they came with me and it made me sad!! Anyway, our server was so blah (Katelyn H), our water glasses had lipstick marks, I asked her for new ones, she seemed to have forgotten or something so I asked the bartender (which is so sweet!) then our server heard me and grabbed glasses and handed them to me. She didn't check if they were clean, and they weren't, friends were too thirsty to wait and wiped off the lip marks with their napkin. She didn't even bother to ask if the glasses were clean, and also never asked us if we needed anymore drinks (we ordered cocktails). When food arrived, I had to walk up to her to ask for small plates, as she just walked away after delivery. The calzones were burnt on the bottom, and the marinara was 100000% canned tomato paste and was cold. Work on that marinara. Ambiance was as it always is, super chill and welcoming. She was the only server but she could have led with that and made it a comfortable setting. (Towards the end I saw the bartender delivering plates and drinks).
