It's possible I ordered the wrong thing. However we were served an inferior meal. The atmosphere is nice and clean. Feels fancy enough. We started out with the burrata salad apparently a seasonal special. Good things. It's hard to screw up burrata. It was yummy. It was November. Not sure where these strawberries came from but they were amazing. Possibly just too a good combination of seasoning. That's it. Burrata. Strawberries. Like a nine year old chose the ingredients. No greens or vegetables. It made for kind of a tasty but wimpy appetizer. My friend wanted the halibut but she didn't want any more cream in her meal so asked if they could sub the side. No. They do not. Now I get if it is a composed dish where the side completes the concept. Or you're a hoity toity Michelin star restaurant. Come on man just sub the vegetables So she got the salmon with melted artichokes. We asked how they cook that. Deep fried apparently. Imagine a bloomin onion but the inner third of an artichoke with no batter. The thin leaves actually kind of melted in my mouth but the rest was pure grease. Nasty. Salmon was seasoned and cooked well. Good save. My wife got the lobster ravioli. It felt a lot of the meat was those ends of the tail and claws that are just not very pleasant. Every one of us tried it and noticed an odd taste. We finally figured out it was cinnamon. Very off putting. I'm not sure where these flavors go together but I'm not sure this is what Italians do. I got the osso bucco. They serve it over potatoes. The potatoes were way too salty and very gummy. Not very appetizing. The meat was cooked just enough to render it an osso bucco but still a little tough and way too much inedible gristle. It was also very bland. I'm not sure if the potatoes contributed to it but the sauce was just boring. Overall a really disappointing meal. The price wasn't terrible but the meal just didn't deliver. read more

This place has uber ambiance, a great place for a special nice out, great view from the 15th floor of the Ilani hotel. I didn't know this restaurant was there, it's great find. We started with a Caesar salad, nice thick cut of Parmesan cheese slices, the dressing had red wine vinegar in it , gave it a nice zip to it. Antipasto misto for two - prosciutto cupiola, Cotto ham, salami, Parmesan, buffalo mozzarella, fried artichoke, roasted peppers, Kalamata, olives, and grissin crackers. This could have been a whole meal, loved the salami. For the main course- chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and eggplant parmigiana. The chicken was moist and tender, very good. The eggplant parmigiana was large, the tomato sauce was a tad sweet. It was good. Our server was wonderful. Check this place out. read more

Really delicious dinner at Bella Vista! Came in without a reservation and was lucky to be seated within 5 minutes and at a table by the window! What a great view! The complimentary bread was yummy with the whipped butter and the oil and balsamic vinegar. The King Salmon was delicious with the lemon sauce. We came in around 6pm on a Thursday night evening. The hostess said it would be an hour to get a table so we grabbed a couple seats at the small bar in the front. I got a bottle of Lagunitas IPA since there's no beers on tap. I ordered the fettuccini with chicken. The waitress said it I get the breaded chick it would be much better. The breaded chicken was tender and juicy but too much breading for me. The fettuccine was just ok. There was not a lot of sauce and it was kind of bland. I was hungry so I ate most of it. I got the first chance to be here last Saturday. I was very surprised of the atmosphere and decoration which was very gorgeous and stunning. I ordered 3 items. _ Lamb lollipops: It was a bomb was perfectly executed in the harmony with the consistent balsamic and salsa. _ Lobster ravioli: really disappointed that the sauce was salty and too thick that made me tired of tasting or eating up. More, the lobster was overcooked and felt not fresh. Generally, I just ate 20% of this item, then stopped it. _ Vanilla cream brûlée: Beautiful and catchy decoration. But the cream was too sweet and the topped sugar was not completely torched/caramelized. I am very honest to give feedbacks based on my experiences. This was our 2nd meal at Bella Vista because our first one was so memorable. Our 2nd visit was just as good if not better than our first. Beautiful view for miles from a window seat. The server's are the best, answering questions and checking on us frequently. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, any Italian restaurant's signature dish, Bella Vista's was the best I can ever recall eating anywhere. I had the Spaghetti Al Nero on my first visit, it's made with lots of lobster, shrimp and calamari, prepared perfectly and a seafood lover's must. The prices are reasonable for an upscale restaurant, plenty of menu options, make reservations however it's very popular, I highly recommend Bella Vista! read more

Disappointing experience at Bella Vista. To preface: the food was very good, but the service was dismissive and disappointing overall. The restaurant was hosting a large party of 28 at the time, which I understand probably stressed their kitchen and overwhelmed the staff. That said, with a standing reservation, I would still expect them to be able accommodate and provide a level of service consistent with an upscale restaurant. Instead my group was shuttled to a back corner, declined an opportunity to move tables even when better seating remained empty all night, and rushed to order while one of our party was still in the restroom. We drove from Portland just to eat here for a special birthday, and will not make that mistake again. There are equally good restaurants in the city with far better service. read more

It is an extra $10-$12 for any protein added to your dish. Fancy pricing right there, but the food was food! For me, it was salty for my liking but the flavor of the risotto came throughhh. Boston Johnny was our server and he did an excellent job! The friend who made the dinner reservation under counted by one, but Johnny got it all handled and added another table for us so we could all sit comfortably. We all thought the food was very good. I got the bolognese but instead of thin noodles, it was made with rigatoni noodles. That was fine. It's all abut the sauce. I know my order was boring but I am not a huge fan of seafood - which my friends all got. However, I do love prawns so I dug into the prawns and spicy (horse radishy) cocktail sauce! One friend didn't know what el dente was and so she wasn't happy with her noodles, but ate all the seafood in her dish. Next time she needs to ask what something is before ordering. The only downside would be the drink specials. I got a blackberry Aperol spritz and it tasted like soda water. That was a waste of $16. I switched to bourbon after that. At least with liquor, beer & wine, you know exactly what you are getting. The view is absolutely lovely. We should have taken more photos when it was light out. We had a relative who wanted to have their birthday dinner here. The service was great, very friendly, personable and knowledge-able. I love that they seem to have a large number of LGBTQ persons on their staff. The food, hmmmm... We started with the fried calamari, it was decent, but not the best I've had. I got the meatballs and the chopped salad. The meatballs had a nice flavor. The salad was a fail. The menu described it as full of chopped Italian meats and olives. The reality was like a house salad with a small amount of cubed cheese and maybe two bites of meats and olives. For the price, they should do better. My husband said his cioppino was more like tomato paste, not like a soup broth. Although our birthday person isn't much for dessert, the server brought out some ice cream with a birthday candle. A nice gesture, but I tasted it and it was not great. This place is fairly high priced, they need to step up their game on the food. read more

I was feeling seafood today so I was drinking their moscato, it went great with the fresh oysters and the swordfish. The oysters were really fresh and tasted great. Also whoever shucked them did a great job of cleaning them properly so there was no grit. The swordfish was grilled perfectly and that's hard to do. Made a reservation here for a work dinner and was very satisfied! Our whole party enjoyed the meal. The food was delicious and you can't beat the views from the 15th floor. Our server was a very wonderful woman who tended to our group of 8. We did have to wait a while before the bread came out and one of us didn't get their food til after everyone else, but the manager was quick to comp for her meal and apologized profusely. Wad seated timely but then waited 20 minutes for water, which we had to Flagg someone down for. Ordered apps per hotel suggestion! Stuffed Bread! We added the Meatballs as well! Apps were decent, and the meatballs were very flavorful. As for the entrees, we all ordered different pasta dishes. 2 with veal 1 with chicken. VERY DISSAPOINTED! Pasta is from Portland! Checked appeared to be pre-frozen, and the veal flavor was lacking. The sauces for all 3 dishes were not good, and we all thought the other dish was worse than our own! After 2-3 bites each trying one another's, we were amused and done!! Waiting asked how everything was since we stopped eating and pushed the plates aside. We informed his NOT GOOD. Management approved, and we explained. There was no dispute! The manager apologized a few times and made it right. Felt bad, but I wanted to share this experience. I hope that something can be done to salvage this place so that we may want to return to try it out!. My pictures look great! I was so excited when I saw the plates presentation. One of the best experiences of casual dining in a dimly lit setting. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly, the crabcakes were to die for, Caesar salad with anchovies was wonderful and date night turned out perfect. Our server Juan is one of the best waiters we've ever experienced. No matter how busy the restaurant is, Juan makes time to stop and connect with his customers. The hostess (she may have been the manager, I didn't ask) notified us that we were 7minutes early to our reservation and the way she said it was very unwelcoming. We sat down not long after and luckily we got a very kind and professional waitress, Aimee. The complementary bread was delicious and you can't go wrong with the meatball and marinara, according to my other half. Everyone was very pleased with the food. I let Aimee know that we were celebrating our friend's birthday and she brought out a dessert dish, which everyone shared and again another delicious plate. I came here for a friend's bday dinner! Aside from the service being a little slow, everything was fantastic. For appetizers we had a cheesy bread, calamari, and caprese salad. My favorite was the calamari it was light and crisp. It came with a great zesty sauce. For my main course I decided to get oysters. The oysters were perfect...small to medium size with three different sauces. They were prepared perfectly. My friends got the meatballs and the lobster bucatini. Everyone loved every bit of their food. The food is on the more expensive side, but for me it was worth it given that it was all great. It's a restaurant with a view which generally comes with a higher price tag. If you're looking to celebrate or splurge on dinner I recommend this place. read more

We took a chance to show up without a reservation on a Saturday night at 6:30. The earliest dining room opening was 8:45 but they would serve you food at the bar. The bar had several high tops that were open, but the seats at the bar were full. We took a seat at the high top thinking we were in luck for some dinner. Nope. They only serve food AT the bar. The server, Joey, gave us the lowdown on where folks at the bar were at and it was only about a 20 minute wait. Enough time to order a cocktail! After making it to three bar, Joey took great care of us. We ordered the pork chop and the chicken parmigiana. Pork chop was moist and full of flavor. The squash purée was amazing! The chicken parm dish had ok flavor but the chicken was a tad dry. I wasn't a big fan of the spaghetti sauce as the flavor was a a bit acidic and missed the mark for me. Don't get me wrong, I still ate about 1/2 of the dish (got full) but the sauce just didn't do it for me. Overall it was a nice meal with great service. We went to Bella Vista for New Years Eve. They offered a special New Year's Eve menu. It was $120.00 per person. It included a scallop appetizer which consisted of two small to medium size scallops on a purée of cauliflower with a burre blanc, tasty but small. Then came the main course, a 4oz filet mignon and two prawns with mashed potatoes and a balsamic reduction. The filet was between 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick, very tender though and flavorful cooked rare as ordered. The prawns though! We were given were two large grilled empty prawn heads with a tiny shrimp stuck partially inside one of the heads, super disappointing. The mashed potatoes were fresh potatoes mashed well and with the balsamic reduction, very good. We were also given house bread with olive oil and balsamic, the balsamic was bitter and very low quality, the olive oil seemed to be a medium quality. Then we got dessert which was tiramisu, it was cupcake sized, and encased in a light chocolate shell with a dusting of espresso and chocolate powder, very nice take on tiramisu. All in all it was not worth the price. We had a bottle of Pellegrino and one cup of coffee with the meal. With the tip it was $328.00. Definitely not worth it. The prawns were a complete joke! We probably won't go back. The only saving grace was that our server was very attentive. Ambiance was eh. read more

Our daughter was celebrating her 22nd bday and this is where she decided to have our family dinner. This is located on the 15th floor of the hotel. We had a party of 8 and it was challenge to get it set up but she persisted. We got there a few mins before reservation and advised we could wait in the bar area. We ordered 2 cocktails. They were priced well, beautifully presented and tasted good. We were sat and our waitstaff was diligent and your drinks and appetizers ordered. They were delivered as quickly as they could and they were good. Our entree orders were taken and delivered in the same amount of time as our appetizers were. The cost was high and the food was okay. I was a little upset that we did not get the bread basket since the bread appetizer was ordered as my bolognese would have tasted much better with bread (as (2) bread appetizers was not nearly enough for a party of 8). The view is top notch and should be seen by others. 20% Gratuity was added to the bill so we didn't need to add a tip. Give it a shot and see what you think. read more

Let's go over pros and cons Pros- The views were amazing especially on a clear day we saw all the mountains. I was third in line to get seated and my husband wasn't there yet so she wouldn't seat me. I went up after the line cleared and said can we get the last window table he's walking upstairs now. She said yes but would be 10 minutes. Completely understand waiting because the servers need to support the seated table guests. However when I originally said he works here in the building and is walking up they wouldn't sit me. 2) Beer menu- no IPAs 3) over priced on some items 4) wine menu would have loved to see more local places 5) some staff won't say who were not very friendly. 6) shrimp cocktail (not shown) we saw delivered to the table next to us 4 shrimp for $17 glad we didn't get it. Overall we'll be back! This was our first date night in a year and half. So we left our 2 year old and 8 week at home.
