A group of guys hung out here for a meeting. The back space was large and setup with some interesting furniture. The staff was incredible. Sadly, I don't drink coffee so I didn't try their blue mountain coffee drinks but the others said it was great. I did have a nice "ting" soda though!

First time here and we got the Banana bliss latte, and this was the best flavored latte I had in so long!! Super clean inside. Very friendly worker. You can tell each drink was made with love! 15/10 would recommend.

VERY sketchy parking lot, this is literally a hole in the wall. My caramel machiatto was made with a chilled espresso already made in the fridge. I had my doubts, but it was very tasty. The espresso itself is very roasted. We also got a lemonade and the woman working literally hand squeezed a fresh lemon and made it into lemonade. It was good, a little expensive (two 16oz drinks was almost $16) but I don't mind spending a little extra at a family owned business. Rating 3.5 stars

Best coffee in sac hands down. Super strong and fresh, and the barista is so nice you can taste the difference of the blue mountain coffee, the dark chocolate mocha is so good. my boyfriend and I, love this little hidden gem.

Went to Nomlas for the first time, since we don't live in the area. We got two coconut cold brew cream drinks, and they are delicious! So refreshing and unique from other coffee shops. The lady working at the counter was very kind and welcoming, too. We'll definitely go back if we're in the area!

This is my third time visiting and the experience is always a treat, their interior is cute with tons of seating in the back where they encourage you to drop by and study in, the cafe portion is nice with everything out for you to see when it comes to them preparing your drinks. And their drinks are consistently amazing the coffee is really strong even when it's a bit watered down when you order it iced the flavor is unique and bold, their service is always kind and courteous! I also had my first beef patty today, I didn't know what to expect but it was delicious the breading was nice and flaky and the meat inside was like a thick gravy consistency with bits of chewy tendon that worked well with the flaky bread, definitely would get again

I love this Jamaican coffee spot. The staff is always nice. They have a backroom you can reserve for events. Its tucked away in the corner of the shopping center but definitely need more attention. If you can't make it to Jamaica, go get your coffee here. There is an area to sit and drink. Usually quiet here. read more

Such a nice, quiet café with plenty of seating and a really welcoming vibe. It's the perfect spot to get some work done without feeling rushed or crowded. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. I also loved that they had lots of books available for kids to read -- such a thoughtful touch for families. I ordered the Island Gold Latte, and it was absolutely delicious. Very flavorful with just the right level of sweetness -- not overpowering, just perfectly balanced. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to! read more

I tried out Nomlas Cafe today for the first time and had a great experience! The iced mocha I ordered was delicious and the barista was friendly and inviting. The cafe is attached to a great open hangout space which featured tables, couches, and even an area for kids. I enjoyed the space for several hours and never felt rushed to leave. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. It's such a gem! You walk in, and it looks like a normal cute little coffee shop. It has authentic Jamaican coffee and FIRE pastries (def try the beef patty!). You go through the doorway though, and it opens up into this dope lounge area with couches, tables and chairs, a small stage, and relaxing music playing on a variety of serene wallpaper on the tv screen. Plenty of seating, chillllll space! The customer service was absolutely impeccable also; Trishana is a kind, knowledgeable, expert barista! The fact that I had to come back twice in a week says a lot. I think I found a new favorite spot! read more

It was one of the best coffees I've ever tasted. Strong without being bitter and very smooth. My daughter got an iced mocha very chocolatey without being too sweet. I just ordered a dirty chai latte with whole milk. I was presently surprised by the barista's asking me whether I wanted it sweetened or not. This is definitely a first: usually, chai lattes are overly sweet. I asked for mine unsweetened, and it did not disappoint. There's a rich spiced flavor to the chai and the espresso blends in perfectly with the whole milk. The barista was friendly, helpful, and even entertained my son's excitement about his new switch game. I will definitely return and I highly recommend. read more

Anyway, who knew that there's a coffee shop in the Sac area that serves Jamaican coffee?? Was very curious as I've never had Jamaican coffee and after trying an iced mocha here I'd say that Jamaican coffee has a deep roast-y taste (paired quite well with the chocolate syrup in the drink actually.....gave strong dark chocolate vibes). Little-to-no fruitiness. Decently strong (no jitters and kept me well awake throughout the day). I also got a Jamaican beef patty here. Nicely chewy and flaky crust. A little strange that the filling is on the mushy side (reminded me a lot of the texture of refried beans) but not a dealbreaker. Tasty filling. FYI there is distinct mild spiciness to it. Small, bodega-like coffee shop space in a very spacious plaza lot. read more

Came here on a whim after wanting to try it for a while. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by sweet welcomes. I ended up trying a vanilla latte for a safe option, and it was really good! I never had Jamaican coffee before, but it was very delicious without feeling too heavy. The people here are very kind and sweet, the inside is very nice and clean as well. I will definitely be back to try more options and would recommend it a place to try for fresh Jamaican coffee! read more

My wife and i wanted to grab some coffee for studying late night and came across Nomlas. It was only a few minutes away from sac state so why not. Walked it and was immediately greeted by a handshake. Never had anyone shake my hand and welcome me in and so that alone was already a big plus. Then came to order and an amazing Women (forgot her name but also do not want to butcher it) but she was so helpful and so kind. She even explained that the coffee they use is completely different and after drinking it most definitely was. Great spot , seems to have awesome vibes with their Karaoke stage in the back. May be my regular spot for late studying nights! read more

On a lazy Saturday morning, my husband, and I decided to come try Nomlas Cafe. Located near our neighborhood, we wanted to support a small local business. When we arrived, we were promptly and warmly greeted. The lady took the time to explain to us what makes Blue Mountain coffee so special and unique. We both decided to order an iced coffee. My husband got his iced coffee black while I decided to add some vanilla to sweeten mine. The coffee was good and strong. We will definitely be back to try more of their beverages and menu offerings. read more

This coffee is 10/10. I've never had Jamaican coffee before and actually just stumbled across this on maps during my drive to Tahoe. Family owned business and the woman who made my coffee was so nice! Immediately after making it she asked "Is it okay, do you like it?" This is up there with a craft coffee place. I had a pour-over Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee here, and I loved it! After a few sips, I felt, "This is it!" The flavor was full-bodied in a bold way that I'll describe it as masculine. It had just a bit of acidity -- not much but noticeable -- and a beautiful sweet aftertaste. The two ladies there were welcoming and we had a nice chat. The café itself was very clean -- a highlight for me! I'll definitely come back with family or friends. This is a hidden gem and I'm so glad we can enjoy great blue mountain coffee in Sacramento! read more

This was my first time visiting this Jamaican coffee shop and wow, what an amazing experience! The coffee was absolutely delicious. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I had it last Saturday. The lady working there was super kind and welcoming. She took the time to explain a bit about the coffee shop and even offered us a cozy sitting area in the back. I'm a simple drip coffee kind of gal, and this was one of those cups that reminds you how good coffee can be when it's done well. No frills, just really exceptional coffee. The café itself feels bright, open, and welcoming. I loved the calming color palette, the beautiful mural celebrating the coffee-growing journey, and the cheerful little touches throughout the space, even the sign that read, "I followed my heart and it led me to Pachamama." It made me smile. I completely understand why this place has such a loyal following. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Sacramento. Some places are worth making a small detour for, and Pachamama is one of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed my latte as it had the perfect balance of butterscotch flavor without being overpowering or too sweet. My friend also really enjoyed her latte for the same reasons. It may also explain some changes outside the roast that haven't fared as well. Twice now Black Sails ground my coffee beans on the wrong setting. I asked for a coarse grind for a french press and both times I received a super fine grind that I could only use with espresso machine or moka pot. I wanted to dial in these issues with the Black Sails team and figure out the setting on their burr grinder so I can just ask for that instead of relying on their expertise (which obviously is lacking re grinding beans--they roast them great, grinding...not so much). I asked the barista if I could come around the counter to see what setting they have, and I was granted permission. While I was behind the counter a fellow from the back of house opened a glass door and rudely interrupted the conversation and work the barista and I were doing saying, "You can't be back there you have to go around to the other side now." I tried to explain that the barista said it was okay, that my coffee has been ground incorrectly and I'm trying to figure the right setting. He again interrupted me, shutting me down, "I don't care, you need to get around the counter, you can't be back here." Here I am, trying to stay a customer after several bad experiences, giving them the benefit of the doubt, just to be talked to by a staff member like a COP. Where's the humanity, the human connection to build community? I had that community with the previous establishment, and I was really hoping to have that with Black Sails--and I love pirate themes, but alas, it's not meant for me. Long story short: Their roast is great, coffee is just fine. Their customer service is hit or miss, the owner is nice, but some staff are not. Beware of buying coffee beans if you need them to grind them, they're not good at that and are generally unhelpful in working with you to find the right grind. Some things that I loved when the spot was owned by Naked that are gone now (and I hope Black Sails brings back): -You could grind your own coffee (this let's you learn what particular grind works with your brew system). I would go back to Black Sails if they put the burr grinder back out for customers. -Coffee was sold in 1 pound PAPER bags, not 12 ounce plastic bags at slightly higher prices like they're doing now. We don't need the plastic coffee bag gimmick, if your'e drinking your coffee slow enough to need an impermeable bag your'e drinking coffee wrong--just put it in the freezer or a glass jar. Also, you could have really cool stamps of the Kraken to stamp paper bags--that's more pirate-like anyways, and probably cheaper. -There was a really cool life size skeleton in the old place, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a dazzling necklace, it's gone now, despite the coffee house theme being pirates? The skeleton is in the back I'm told... I reached out to Black Sails about this issue through their website contact page, but they have yet to parley.
