I visited 5 Sips Coffee today and it was a pleasant surprise! This little cafe has a very cozy feel to it with a huge variety of food options. The service was impeccable with each drink order tailor made to your liking. I ordered the white mocha as I was in the mood for something sweeter, and it came out perfect. It was nice and warm on this cold, winter morning. I also went for a cheese danish that was very satisfying with my mocha. Though I ordered pretty standard cafe fare, this cafe has much more to offer. There was a variety of cakes available as well as savory sandwiches, and wraps. So it doesn't matter if you're in the mood for something sweeter or savory - they have plenty of both to choose from. Seating is both inside and outside with plenty of room. I find this place so maddening. It has so many good things going for it: good ambience, easy parking, good food. But the coffee is ALWAYS dramatically over-extracted making it taste like cigarette ash, and simultaneously overly sweet. Want a unique treat or a non-espresso drink? Highly recommended. Want espresso? Run away. Yesterday I asked their barista about one of their advertised specials tastes, and she said, "I don't know how it tastes, I've never tried it. I just know it has LOTS of honey and cinnamon. Like a graham cracker maybe?" So they have no idea they're making espresso from ground cigarette butts rather than beans roasted specifically for espresso (maybe from low quality beans made for drip coffee?). read more

SUMMARY: Oh this place is a gem. I'd definitely come again. FOOD: Fantastic. Deceivingly flavorful. My best friend and I ordered food thinking nothing special. But boy, they are good like an old family member made in the kitchen for her family. Samosa was the stand out to me, try it without the chutney then with the chutney. The magic is in the chutney! Don't skip it. SERVICE: They actually forgot one of our orders, sat in the microwave. But the owner made up for it and gave my niece a cake (with permission of course). SPACE: Cozy space, tables are closely set. But because the vibe is casual and like family, I guess it works. Note they also have live performances, so come check them out! This is a super cute coffee shop that I'm glad I stumbled upon! The atmosphere is cozy and warm, it feels like it belongs in the early 2000s in the best way. Located in Land Park is 5 Sips Coffee! I actually haven't seen much advertisement on social media on 5 sips and came across it through a coffee passport I was gifted. It's very close to the zoo and William Land Park. It's across the street from a cute little park and nestled next to a cute neighborhood. The inside decor is so interesting and the staff was very sweet. They have seasonal drinks and I went with the baristas favorite off that menu which was a blue lavender latte with oat milk. It looked really interesting when it came out, but it was really tasty once mixed together. I also tried the turkey bacon bagel which was good. I liked the addition of poppy seeds. There's ample seating inside and some seating outside. Most of the ga is have outlets which make it a perfect place to work. I wanted ti take a little walk around the park but it was much too windy and my allergies were not nice to me. It's a great place to stop in for a quick bite or to meet up with friends for a light lunch. Very cute spot and I definitely recommend. read more

My family and I adore 5 Sips! The community feel, the welcoming vibes, the artwork and good seating...it's all what you want in a local shop. But, most of all, the COFFEE and FOOD are FABULOUS! High quality beans, great signature espresso drinks and chai (but even just their drip Hawaiian coffee is awesome!). They have multiple kinds of excellent baklava, fresh danishes and pastries, tasty burritos, falafel and shawarma, tons of sandwiches and more! (And my son raves about the classic coffee cake--always tasty and never dry). Visited this cute coffee shop in the Curtis Land Park area. Always pass them on my way to Choc Fish but today I decided to stop in. I was drawn to their blue lavender latte that I saw on their social media page. Located off of 11th Ave. There's street parking right in front of their cafe, there's also parking for the small park across the way. So there's no reason to not stop in. Exterior is so cute with an outside patio to enjoy the morning/afternoon. The building reminds me of something you'd see in the background of a movie montage or somewhere in Europe. Although I've never been (to Europe) so you can be the judge of that. As I walked inside, there were already 2 tables filled up with the "regulars" . A family enjoying their Sunday morning and a table of old men having a meetup with friends. I love the feel & vibe of this cafe already. They have menus for food and a display case of so many different pastries. My only mission today was to get the latte but next time, I'm aiming for their food. The barista was busy from making the drinks, warming up the food but she still greeted me upon entry. Got my latte with oat milk and waited patiently for my drink but I was in no rush. As soon as my drink was ready, the barista was so sweet in letting me know if there's any adjustments needed, then to let her know. Normally, I don't need adjustments but it was thoughtful of her to say that. Not common but highly appreciated! While it is still available, I highly suggest coming into this coffee shop to try the blue lavender latte but also their other drinks (i.e., mocha, latte, cappuccino etc). Blue is for the added spirulina and the drink itself was perfect, not too sweet & not too floral either. While they have coffee, there's something for the tea lovers as well! I needed coffee before an event and decided to search on Yelp for a spot close to me that I hadn't been to before. I found 5 Sips Coffee and knew ai was in for a treat as soon as I pulled up. It's in a really cute area right by a park with a good amount of parking. As I walked up I noticed they were hosting local vendors for an event. If I didn't need to get to my event I would have stayed and browsed for a while. I ended up ordering their seasonal pumpkin latte and a breakfast sandwich. The staff were really friendly and let me know about some of their favorites. I'll have to come back soon to try more. There was indoor and outdoor seating and I loved the fun art everywhere. Best coffee place in Sacramento, hands down. We got an iced pistachio latte (which incorporates real pistachio cream) and an iced pumpkin latte (which also uses real pumpkin sauce to create a rich flavor and creamy texture you don't get from flavored syrup alone). Both drinks were sweet enough without tasting like you're developing a cavity midway through. We also got a turkey bacon, and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel that was warmed in a panini press. It made for a solid crunch and also tasted great. The staff -- from the owner on down -- are friendly and knowledgeable, and the place just has a relaxed vibe overall. Wasn't a fan of my drink but I did quite enjoy the pastries! The iced Mexican mocha tasted essentially like a straightforward iced coffee (the only chocolate contribution seeming to be just the garnishing cocoa powder sprinkled on top of the drink). No spice nuances at all. Didn't even enjoy the coffee brew itself much as it was a bit overly bitter. On the flip side, the cranberry scone was tasty and soft and the hazelnut puff pastry was light and airy with the right, non-overwhelming amount of hazelnut filling. Hard to strongly recommend this place considering how huge the coffee game is in Sac, but if you just so happen to be in the area needing a quick & non-picky coffee fix, this spot might just do it for ya (just make sure to also pick up some pastries while you're at it!). read more

We rode our bikes to 5 Sips Coffee on Saturday and ordered a drink and treat each- because why not lol I got the Pistachio Dubai Mocha and the decadent chocolate cake slice, while my husband got their Pumpkin Pie Chai Latte and coffee cake. The owner was VERY personable with each customer and was multitasking making the drinks, taking the orders, getting the orders ready- it was impressive how seamless they made it. He even followed up with us after a bit to see how we liked the drinks and cakes! The Pistachio Dubai Mocha was a harmony to my taste buds! The rich taste of the dark chocolate melding with the smooth espresso.. paired with the creamy chocolate cake... It was pure bliss! That is, until I tried my husband's Pumpkin Pie Chai Latte lol I don't believe I have ever melted over a drink- it tasted so good!!! It must be a good day when "5 Sips Coffee" gets a 5-star Yelp rating from me. And since I've been reviewing a LOT more coffee shops as of late, there's quite a bit I put into each and every review I write. Location, coffee/food quality, ambiance, experience, and prices. Located directly off of Freeport Blvd. and adjacent to 11th Ave., this place has been brewing up amazing coffee and espresso beverages ever since late-2020. As I mentioned, this is absolutely prime location as it is only a short 2-block walk to William Land Park, 2 blocks from Sacramento City College, and just a few blocks south of McClatchy High School. During my visit, I arrived on the morning of Saturday 8/5/2023 at around 9:15am. Parking isn't too bad here since there are quite a bit of residential homes around here. Nonetheless, I parked fairly close to the main entrance. The exterior layout of this place is as good as it gets with the beige colored building and a giant sign that reads 5 Sips (surrounded by 5 coffee beans). There are also a few tables for enjoying your beverage outside complete with red umbrellas. The front door lists the hours of operation; this place has very generous hours being open 7 days a week; Monday through Saturday from 6am-4pm and Sunday from 7am-4pm. The interior though is quite amazing as I really like how this place has a rustic vintage feel to it. The distressed wooden floors are timeless while the beige walls created a very neutral feel to it. There is also a 5 Sips sign (that has the same font as the exterior sign) in the main part of the building. This place also has the look of an art gallery with several paintings for sale by local artists. As far as the menu, the hot/cold drinks are posted above on two chalkboards. The glass displays showcase a ton of options; everything from croissants, scones, cookies, and pastries to bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast burritos. Since it was shaping up to be a hot summer day in Sacramento, I decided to go with a medium sized "Iced Caramel Macchiato" and a "Butter Croissant". The young lady that took my order also made my drink and had it ready in just a few short minutes. The overall taste was quite delicious, strong and not too sweet. And not watered down either as she did not add a whole lot of ice to it. As for my croissant, OMG this was absolutely heavenly! Warm, flaky, and absolutely delicious. To sum it up in a nutshell, both my coffee drink and food were on point. I've got to say, with the vast amount of coffee shops in the Sacramento area ("Temple", "Pachamama", "18 Grams", "The Mill"), there's some really tough competition out there. And with so many roasteries everywhere with so many unique drinks and food items, its hard to put a stamp on my favorite one. But I definitely recommend giving "5 Sips Coffee" a try as this place is in prime location. Not to mention, the service and overall vibe hit all the high notes for me.
