My husband and I like to frequent differnt coffee shops in Sacramento on Saturday mornings when we go run errands. We stopped in Anchor this morning -- it was cool as they had a few pop up shops right outside too!! The space was super cool, clean and the owner was actually working the register and talking to everyone -- super nice!! i got a Strawberry shortcake latte and my husband got the lavendar heights...Im glad i got mine in a cup as I dont love the to go cups they use but thats fine - just a preference. This spot is topping my list of coffee shops -- woot!!

This place was one of my favorites on a tour of about a dozen cafes in the Sacramento area recently. As others have mentioned, they roast their own here, and very importantly to me, can do any of them on hand as espresso. My personal bar of awesomeness for coffee places usually starts with "What espresso options do you have?" Recently, I've had some blank stares when I ask that, and even one that said "Well, we can do Americano, latte...". The answer I'm looking for is "We have [these two, or three or more] options, depending on what you like", then launching into country of origin or processing. Anchor and Tree definitely passes this "test". On my visit, I had a shop roasted Ethiopian that had bright acidity (almost too much), but was very pleasant, selected after a nice chat with the barista. We also talked about the two Bellwether roasters they had right there on the cafe floor, and geeked out a bit over their Bentwood grinder. The decor in the cafe is really cool as well, featuring a number of coffee-related art pieces for sale, and just, overall, a really cool vibe. Definitely worth a visit.

Popped in here on a rainy day on a whim for something warm. They are a coffee collective, so if you are a coffee nerd this is definitely a place that needs to be on your list. They have a program where you can go in and roast your own beans (amazing)! I love how they support many small businesses (and is LGBTQ owner). This can definitely be a place to get gifts for your coffee connoisseurs. Very cozy place that seems great to catch up with a friend or make some progress on your current read. We got a hot hojicha latte and a cinnamon vanilla mocha. Both were SO DELICIOUS! Definitely of my favorite hojichas I have found. Run here, don't walk!

Ah, I can remember the smell when I stepped through the door. The smell of roasted beans being churned away in the back was an unforgettable moment. The machines that were grinding or roasting the beans were so high-tech looking and you can especially see beans bouncing around like a washing machine lol. It was an experience to see this in person for sure. Anyhow, besides that, I grabbed a pumpkin spiced matcha latte from their fall menu. Beeeest matcha I've ever had. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, slightly pumpkiny, and amazing! The matcha wasn't very pronounced, but the other flavors complemented the matcha very well. 10/10. I still dream about it every night. Their to-go cups aren't very desirable because they're compostable and kind of fragile. If you get a hot drink, it kind of starts disintegrating and can't keep its composure too well. So I'd highly recommend getting the drinks inside to drink and experience some live action coffee bean roasting and grinding! Super friendly staff, and it was quite spacious inside. They also have a fancy locker for drinks placed for to-go. I thought that was pretty cool too!

Upon discovering Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasters at a Yelp Event, I've been buying all my coffee beans from them because of their low acidity. My favorites at the moment are the Brazil and Peru varieties. The owner and staff are among the best - they're helpful and make great coffee drinks. The menu offerings are always interesting and adventurous. The interior is warm and inviting: lots of space, a roasting machine, a siphon coffee machine, and fun merchandise for sale. Whenever I happen to be at the Saturday Midtown Farmer's Market, I always visit their booth because I get to sample their coffees and learn about the new beans they have to offer.

Anchor and Tree is just that place!!! Originally came here for a yelp elite event earlier in 2025! Came back today and Lexi was behind the bar! She was very nice! I got an almond croissant warmed up! To drink I got the snickerdoodle chai latte iced! The croissant was flaky and delicious! The iced chai was so good! It had just that perfect amount of snickerdoodle in it! This is a great coffee shop not only to get drinks and pastries but also coffee beans! The really cool thing about anchor is that they use 100 percent compostable cups! I truly believe the owner, Donovan is that guy! He puts his heart into this place and I truly think you can tell! If you are looking for a new place to get coffee, or a treat or just get some work done, please come here! Our local businesses need us! Fun facts- they offer 10% of to state workers, you can roast your own beans here, this place is really green (environment). Can't wait to come back millions more times and try everything!

Came here to work for a few hours because it had a nice seating area for casual/solo working and group talking. It is pretty quiet with some light music so you can hear some talking around you but it elevates the "cozy" experience! I love the ambiance and the paintings on the wall from a local artist + sustainability of their products. The overall vibe was very friendly and cozy! I got the vanilla cinnamon mocha which was delicious! I can really taste the cinnamon, which I LOVE and the drink was not too sweet. The front desk offers some bagels and pastries that I did not try, but would want to try the next time I come here.

Anchor & Tree Coffee House at 16th and N in Sacramento is truly something special. The coffee is beautifully roasted with a nutty depth and just the right amount of flavor depending on what you order. You can immediately tell they don't rely on excessive sweetness to mask mediocre beans, the quality of the coffee stands on its own. I ordered the hot masala chai with espresso and an iced pistachio latte, and both were outstanding. Balanced, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted, nothing overpowering, just really good coffee done right. What made this stop unforgettable, though, was the service. Lexi was an absolute gem. Her patience, kindness, and genuine customer care were top-notch. She answered all of my questions thoughtfully and was warm and conversational while making the drinks, which really shows her skill and confidence. For me, the heart of any coffee shop is service with a smile and Lexi delivered service with heart and soul. I'm so glad I stopped by on my way back to San Diego, and this will absolutely be a must-visit spot every time I'm back in Sacramento. Highly recommend!

As Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasting continues to settle in and grow it's becoming a staple for my coffee needs. It is now all Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasting- including the cafe side that was previously run by Burnside Coffee (they now have their own location on K street) and the menu has been updated to reflect this. I've always found street parking easily in the area and it's a great spot for meetings or to hang out with friends. There's a lot of natural light and plenty of seating. There are tables, benches, window seating, a couch and a really cool wood table. They roast coffee on site and it makes the whole shop smell amazing. They sell bags of their coffee as well as all the options in the cafe. They also have some food and they carry other local products like jams, hot sauce, art and more. The owner and staff here are really friendly as well and are happy to answer any questions.

This cafe is cozy and cute! Once I placed an order, I was entering my phone number for the loyalty program. The owner, Donovan, was there and noticed and asked if it was my first time. Upon confirmation, he basically gave me a tour of the place which was so nice and unexpected. He told me a bit about the beans of the mocha I ordered (the mint is infused with the beans during a fermentation process - and not as a syrup) and showed me where I could purchase them whole to take home. I wish I had remembered to bring my crochet supplies so that I could have lingered longer. But it was nice to sit on a soft couch with some caffeine in an actual mug!

Definitely not Starbucks! Eco friendly shop, with products around the cafe from local artists and businesses that all work together to support one another. Nicely decorated with a relaxing feel, great, attentive and helpful staff and service, and our coffees were excellent! Nice bonus for state workers: 10% off. Definitely a place to put on your list.

Hot Anchor and Tree Latte while exploring a Sacramento winter. Beautiful day, itn't it, govna'?

Great service right off the bat. Best setup, with an onsite automated coffee bean roasting machine, various beans for grinding, and plenty of seating. We got a hot vanilla latte with Oatmilk. It tasted great. I forgot to take a picture, but the recyclable-ready cup was super nifty and had this "fold to drink" process. Check out the video of the roasting machine. Definitely worth returning for!

I've been to Anchor and Tree a few times in the past through events and when Burnside Coffee was here. I think I find myself coming in more frequently than before because of the ambience and the chill vibes. It doesn't feel rushed, packed (or at least when I come) and I feel I can relax to enjoy my morning. They roast in house and love that they are environmentally friendly. Absolutely love all their coffee beans and their latest drink creations. I've had both the iced & hot version of the peach whiskey latte. And I gotta say, I think I like the iced version better. Oat or whole milk is standard which you don't see often because sometimes I feel like I'm being punished for being dairy free (not by choice). Overall great place and I know I'll be back.

Shoutout to Steven for his amazinggg service like where do you guys find baristas this efficient and talented with customer interactions ! I asked him how the matchas were and he let me know the cafe is more coffee-oriented, but said people still order the matchas a lot. He recommended the Vanilla Bourbon latte with sweet cold foam and it was fireeee. I recommend adding cinnamon powder on top. The vibe here is also really unique. I know the car in the middle might throw some people off at first, but I honestly love the minimal/open layout and how there's space between tables instead of cramming everyone together. The aesthetic is super nice, and there's also a giant mirror if you want cute pics with your friends. The drinks are a little pricey for the size, so this will probably be more of a treat-yourself spot for me, but overall I had a great experience. Good wifi, good seating, great vibes all around. Would definitely recommend checking it out. Thanks Chloe !

It's a nice idea but it takes up too much of the space and doesn't totally make sense. So minus one star for that. I think when it's nice out then there is outdoor seating which probably makes the ambience nicer but I was there on a rainy day.
