We've eaten here twice, but took photos only this time. The place is very clean and everyone enjoying their food. Service has been great both times coming here! They answer questions without being annoyed like at some other places. They're also pretty friendly and attentive! The food was also delicious and tasted great! We ordered soy sauce fried noodles, fish fillet congee, garlic cucumbers and 2 egg tarts. Food is also very affordable with everything going on! We will go here more often as this place has delicious food and excellent service.

Really enjoyed Nom Nom Bistro! The short rib over rice was excellent. The short rib was very tender, juicy, and full of flavor, and the sauce went perfectly with the rice. The fresh Chinese greens on the side were a nice balance too. We also tried the wonton noodles and they were delicious. Good portions, authentic Hong Kong-style flavors, and friendly service. Definitely coming back again!

Came here for dinner. We ordered the pig feet thick lo mein, beef stew and wonton thick noodles, Osmanthus Water Chestnut Drink, and black sesame paste. The pig feet were definitely tasty. I liked how they were soft and chewy at the same time, and I love the collagen! :) As a Hong Konger, we eat a lot of wonton noodles, and we all know thick noodles are the best for lo mein. I really liked the flavor and texture of these noodles. They had a firm, snappy, and slightly chewy bite, and you could really taste the strong alkaline-water flavor. That's actually what I like about this type of noodle. The water chestnut drink was not sweet at all and honestly pretty tasteless. Since it was cold, it was still refreshing, but the water chestnut pieces themselves had no flavor. They were just crunchy. My friend said the beef stew and wonton thick noodle soup were just okay, and the black sesame paste tasted like it came from a box mix. Customer service was great, and the food came out pretty fast. The place is bright and roomy.

Nom Nom Bistro is as authentic as it gets to a Hong Kong Cafe. It's, busy, bustling, and the staff and customers primary speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Great food, decent service. Due to popularity and peak business hours, in my handful of past experiences, there WILL be a rather long wait. On a Friday night for a table of 2, we waited 30 minutes to sit then another 30 minutes for food to come. On a Saturday morning, a HK milk tea to go took 15 minutes. The food, drink, and dessert are worthwhile if you have the time. Favorites: -HK milk tea -Fresh soy milk (can get hot or cold, despite a server telling me it can only be cold and another asked me my temperature preference) -wonton noodle soup Husband enjoys the fish filet congee and beef brisket noodle soup Overall a good place to come for lunch or dinner, time permitting.

Good food and nice assortment of dishes would come back. We got both dinner and dessert

Ordered to go, because they close at 8pm and we didn't think of dinner until 7ish - online order is easy, got text when food is ready. Did not go into the restaurant the store looks small only a few tables, so I understand the other reviews for waiting for table. The packing for the food is really good but for HK milk tea, I hope they have tape the cup off because it spilled some. HK milk tea - it's strong not too sweet very good Egg tart not too sweet it's crispy very good Chicken dumplings are good as well not very crispy as pan fried maybe because of Togo Wonton noodle is my favor noodle still not too soft even it's to go, wonton has the HK taste bonce texture and has the fishy taste Curry not spicy but has a good favor the beef brisket is very soft, I wish it has more tendons for the beef curry. Overall we like everything. Will go try in person when we get a chance

Came here for lunch and it was very busy. Fortunately wait time was only 10-15 mins. The staff were nice enough to give us cool water while we sat outside on these tiny tables and chair. Very cute. The food was pretty good. My favorite is the egg tarts. I would dare to say they are the best I've had in the Bay Area.

We have lived in Millbrae for 5+ years and always see a line outside this restaurant. We finally tried it and just WOW! If you are craving a simple but rich and flavorful wonton noodle soup - this is the place to go! There's usually a line before they open but they seat you fairly quickly. The other items on the menu look good and we will for sure come again!

My friend tried this place over the weekend and waited about 45 minutes. She loved it so much that she wanted to come back with me, so we decided to try it on a weekday. We arrived five minutes before they opened at 10:30. Since there are shops nearby, we took a short walk and stopped by Dean's Produce. When we came back about 10 minutes after opening, the restaurant was completely empty. It made sense since it was still pretty early for lunch. We received such a warm welcome from the staff. The service was friendly, and we got to choose any table we wanted. Of course, we had to order the Hong Kong milk tea. I loved that it came in the classic black-and-white cup, just like a Hong Kong cha chaan teng. If you know, you know. That little detail made me feel right at home. The milk tea was really good. It was not exactly the same as what you would get in Hong Kong, but it was pretty close for the U.S. We both ordered the curry brisket and tendon. The dish looked amazing in photos and was very satisfying in person. My only wish was that the curry could have been hotter. It seemed like it needed a little more time to heat through. The rice was piping hot though, and the curry flavor was delicious. I honestly did not expect to finish it, but I ended up eating every last bit of curry. Overall, a very enjoyable lunch with friendly service and comforting Hong Kong flavors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes. Highly recommend!

Hk Milk Tea

My second time here with a friend. I tried their hot HK milk tea and was not impressed. I've had better ones elsewhere for less. My friend wanted to try their pepper chicken feet, so we ordered them. I wouldn't recommend them because they weren't tender enough and required quite a bit of pulling and biting. I also didn't really like the pepper flavor. Next time, I might try their herbal chicken feet instead. My friend ordered the pork feet dry noodles, and I ordered the braised beef stew noodles. My beef stew was tender and flavorful, which I really liked. This place can get pretty busy, so I recommend coming earlier or later to avoid the lunch-hour rush. Sometimes you have to flag the servers a couple times. They also have desserts, which we didn't get to try. The place isn't very spacious, so I wouldn't recommend it for a large party. There is street parking outside, so parking is not an issue.

Like many restaurants in the area, this place closes at 8:00 PM. However, unlike many Hong Kong-style cafés that advertise a 9:00 PM closing time but stop serving food and accepting customers as early as 8:30 PM, this restaurant welcomes everyone who arrives before 8:00 PM and lets them enjoy their meal without feeling rushed. Guests can still order everything they want before the kitchen closes, which I really appreciate. My favorites are the oyster sauce tossed noodles and the oyster sauce rice noodles. The pan-fried turnip cake is also crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food.

It is a good place for Cantonese style food. The noodles and pan fried dumplings are delicious.

For a small cafe the food was good but the menu variety is quite small. It was very busy and they didn't have several dishes that we tried to order. We had to waive down a server to take our order and the food did take some time to prepare. I was surprised how small the portion of spicy wontons were. I think there was maybe 5 or 6 pieces? I would recommend the curry beef and noodle soup.

However, can certainly be an acquired taste of some. Ambience: 4/5, it's a pretty standard looking restaurant, tables in the front to end a few Booth lighting the back of the restaurant. Parking in downtown Millbrae can really be a crapshoot. Usually in the morning, it's not too bad, but in the evenings, it can get really crowded, especially if there are events downtown. Service: 5/5 SOOO fast. Efficient, great recommendations and advice. Food came out so quickly. Food: 10/10. We actually came here on a Sunday and then again on a Wednesday. The interesting thing is I came here once with my husband and his Cantonese mother and be ordered everything incorrectly... Everything was fried and not super authentic tasting byt come here with my parents. It was a whole other ball game. Pickled green beans and gizzard: the pickled green beans were awesome. And gizzard pretty standard as well. Really tasty with rice. Intestine and onion/peppers: this was my mom's absolute favorite! She hasn't found this type of dish at any restaurant in a couple decades. Definitely an acquired taste if you weren't used to it Preserved egg and peppers: this one was all right, good bang for your buck Chicken wings: these were actually quite delicious. Would highly recommend for those who enjoy wings. Sole (white fish), tofu and peppers: this is what they are known for! takes longer to come out, but HIGHLY recommend. This was actually quite delicious, full of protein, and an amazing deal for the price. Scallion pancake: a little bit plain, fluffy and gigantic by itself. But if you pair it with the meat that comes with it, delicious. Smoked meat with leeks: yummy and flavorful and super smoky tasting! Like my childhood All the fried rice we're actually quite delicious. The vegetable fried rice was really flavorful and bounced out a ton with all the dishes. Overall, a really amazing restaurant, will definitely be becoming here a lot more often from here on out!

The first thing I noticed was that there was really not many pieces of ribs, maybe they made the ribs portion smaller to make room for the lap cheung I ordered? The dish description also says that it includes taro, but I didn't have a single piece of taro in my pot. Strangely, although this place seems to share a kitchen with Social Eatery, the rice was cooked much more poorly here, which is obviously a shame for a place specializing in clay pot rice. It seems like the rice had too much water added, so it was a bit overcooked - you couldn't feel the "single grain" mouthfeel texture you should expect from well-cooked, high quality rice. Since the rice was too mushy, it obviously didn't crisp well either. Though it had some small amount of bits stuck to the edges of the metal (not clay!) pot, it was definitely not the super crispy, well browned "faan ziu" I expect, and not at all like the pictures featured in some earlier reviews of this restaurant.

Coming here on a Saturday after making dinner reservations on a late Saturday afternoon, I saw a number of familiar faces immediately. Half of their staff are from the Monterey Blvd. Won Kok Restaurant. This was my 1st time dining here in likely close to thirty years when it was another restaurant. Back to our meal, we were seated at the far end corner of the restaurant, prime location for spacing and restroom access. In crafting our menu, my friend chose several staple dishes from their original location; besides those, my friend was gifted a Bay-caught halibut so I asked the restaurant for suggestions in cooking it. The chef suggested cooking it two-ways. I knew the captain from his two previous restaurants (20+ years) and he guided us. Here's what we ate (family style): 1. Steamed surf clams with garlic and vermicelli noodles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=lPyTuWkX4RoUtP-3fZ2UiA) - These were served in two halves on each plate (four plates for eight shells) for our party of eight. Tasty, flavorful, and fresh as their flagship location in San Francisco. 2. Soy sauce supreme seasoned prawns, 2.5 lbs (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=wYtIFMiiYTuhOa_CmggLrQ) - I actually requested "West Lake" shrimp but was subbed out by this. This was good, just not what we wanted and expected and definitely pricier. 3. Salt and pepper halibut (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=9scLPxW30ktLJK72UIrSBw) - Half of our provided fish was cooked this style. It was done well as you'd expect from the most famous R&G chef to go through their kitchen. 4. Sauteed pea sprouts with garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=GDqjVZCqWnGvZ68sbHjqCw) - Pretty standard version and the pea sprouts were cleaned and trimmed well without any inedible or chewy pieces. 5. Pan fried pork spare ribs with soy sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=x3xQew_Es07lW2dPJwB7BA) - This was the captain's recommendation and it was good but didn't stand out in any particular way. The ribs are cut into bite sized pieces and flash fried. 6. Simmered beef stew & turnip with pepper in broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=CAg60fXr0CfXtrcPVm2kEQ) - One of the signature dishes from the chef's days on Kearny Street that he continued at his Monterey Blvd. location. The portions are certainly enough for our large party as a family style dish. The broth is definitely the star and, for me, the radish (daikon). 7. Steamed halibut with black bean sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=amzaLddp_H2vdSGzrKyYfQ) - The size of the fish made this tricky as, when the captain tried to remove the bones in serving, we learned that the fish was not fully cooked. He brought it back to the kitchen and they cooked this to a perfect cooking temperature. The flavors were nice and the black bean sauce didn't overpower the fish. 8. Golden fried rice with a touch of egg white (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=CZdyzi720mOckNXxHulS4g) - Another restaurant recommended dish, we were amazed at how tasty this was, given the simplicity of its description. Apologies for not having a full serving photo as the captain offered and agreed to him apportioning it in bowls for each diner. 9. Crispy skin roast chicken with garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=TspHX9eknS496I3zXwVwlQ) - This is their innovative twist on the Cantonese favorite jia zhi chicken with a strong garlic flavor. The carving of the decorative chicken head (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=DaywI5br-WQb9hh0a5sgng) was impressive. 10. Green bean tapioca soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=12ljEfFOj8tqwIaBXHvTVw) - Complimentary, a nice ending. 11. Red bean paste pastries (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=MwjmcyVoyHVXnmPRWYuM8w) - Complimentary and okay. The theme here, given the restaurant size, is for banquet style meals and prices reflect it. By the time we left, the dining room and the staff were swamped. Highly recommend making reservations especially weekends. More likely to dine at their flagship but will come for special occasions or with South Bay friends.
