I couldn't speak more highly of this place. I have really long, naturally curly hair and I've had so many bad experiences trying to get hair cuts over the years, I had stopped trying to do anything with it. That ended this past week when I made the impulse decision to try a new style for the first time since I was like 14 and I called Nola and made an appointment for that very same night (yes, they got me in as late as 7:30 so I didn't have to rush home from work!) I got there and met Jessie and he asked what I was looking for. I had to be honest and say that I didn't know, just something different. I showed him ideas I had found online and he took it and ran with it. He knew what I wanted better than I even did, and it turned out perfect. It is a VERY big change from the style I've had for like 10 years now, and so I waited a few days to post this to make sure I still liked it when I had to go home and style it on my own, and I absolutely do. It's short and perfectly shaped. Jessie was a pro at working with my curls. Since I posted a photo on Facebook, I've had people I haven't even talked to since high school making a point to tell me how great it looks. Jesse Taylor has cut my hair twice now and I love my cut so much I had to leave a review for him. I have really curly hair and it's fairly thin. Jesse listened to what I was asking for and didn't cut too much (sometimes stylists cut too much and it's WAY shorter once it dries curly). Jesse was great with my curls, did not take too much off but cleaned it up nicely. I have a long curly bob that, when curly, hits my shoulders. The way he cut the layers creates a full look without it just being really poofy. On top of a great cut, he's also very sincere and personal. After a quick Yelp! search on best hair places in Seattle, I found nola. The place to clean, albeit somewhat difficult to find, the people are nice and I got the best haircut that I've had since living in New York. Brendan was super chill guy and had easy but interesting conversation. If you're not happy with your current cutter, give this a try - you too will be writing EXCELLENT reviews for this place as well. One downside is the parking situation so you might have to pay for the large lot in front of the building, but the prices are incredibly reasonable so it all averages out. GREAT VALUE read more

I first picked Nola because it was close to work. Now I pick it because they are awesome. You can book online, prices are reasonable, facility is clean. I have had at least 3 different hair stylists and all have done a great job. I don't like the fluffy salon style and I don't expect my hair stylist to be my therapist hence Nola. read more

I've been seeing Jenny for my hair cuts and color for over 6 years and she runs a fantastic hair salon. For one, I've got naturally curly hair which is tough to cut. She knows exactly what to do with it, and enjoys trying new cuts as well. I love that she does cut and color as they inform each other and she works with both creatively and expertly. I would trust any of the stylists in the salon as Jenny is an expert in her field, a good person, and runs a top notch salon. Nola exudes an unpretentious attitude the moment you walk through the door. The space is casual and comfortable for both men and women. Sigh... I think this is the first time I've walked away from a salon feeling absolutely satisfied - awesome haircut, lovely chat, and I don't have to go home to immediately change the way they styled it, because it's perfect! New to Seattle and searching for a reliable stylist, I found out about Nola (and Nyssa) from a friend who also has a short, pixie-ish 'do. She trusted and loved Nyssa's skills so I thought I'd give it a shot and was not disappointed! I told Nyssa exactly what I wanted and about the mistakes that other stylists had made that really start to ruin my look from weeks 4 - 6 between cuts. She did a great job with the razor and used some techniques I've never seen done before - quite the artist! She also washed my hair, which is inherently amazing (massage and amazing essential oil products!) but also fantastic because it means I can get on with my day instead of running home to shower off all the little bits of hair that were just snipped. I went here a few weeks ago to get my hair trimmed. It was a little hard to find, I passed by it once before flipping around & finally spotting it. It looks like a little warehouse & it's connected to a coffee shop. They have free parking right out front. It was super duper cute on the inside, it definitely had a hipstery minimalistic vibe. The lady that cut my hair was named Shandra, she was SO cool. We talked the entire time & I actually enjoyed it, it wasn't forced "you're standing right by me so we have to talk" conversation. She did a good job on my hair - I didn't have anything crazy done so I'm sure there wasn't much to mess up, but I was happy with my hair when I left & I still am. They're reasonably priced & she didn't push me to buy any products (FYI they don't make commission from products they sell so don't feel pressured to buy anything). Nola is by far the best salon I have ever been to. The stylists are reasonably priced and extremely good at what they do. I see Stephanie who is a miracle worker with my hair. I've been getting my hair cut by Brandon Trimble since I moved to Fremont at the end of 2013. He takes his time, his attention to detail is impeccable, and I always end up with such a clean cut. I've had a few people cut my hair over the years and Brandon is easily the best. The prices are reasonable and fair, at least for Seattle. ($45 for a cut). I love the online scheduling feature. So convenient, especially because I hate calling places. Free parking is usually not a problem, but I've had a few occasions where I had to drive around and look for a spot. read more

I don't know about you, but when I look for a body service (stylists, estheticians, massage therapists, counselors), I want a healthy combination of meticulous skill and authentic personality. Anya is spunky, genuine, and she is always smiling, not to mention she can give a mean brazilian. I have seen a number of estheticians and unless she leaves Seattle, I will remain with her. There is something to be said for a great haircut. Jesse gave me a haircut a few days ago and it's fantastic. With my very fine, but incredibly thick, hair, it's hard to find someone who understands how to handle it. Jesse talked me through what was best for my hair while giving me exactly what I wanted: to keep the length and have it look voluminous and healthy. He didn't cut too much off, and yet my hair went from looking damaged and drab to super healthy. Probably the best haircut I've ever had. And bonus: the blow out was superb. Thanks Jesse! Since moving away from home and living in a different state, I've had to do some research with who I'm going to trust waxing my brows and Brazilian to. After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to book with Stephanie P and I was NOT disappointed! She is AEWESOME :) I have medium to light blonde hair and asked to have a medium red sombre with some blonde highlights. An earlier attempt at another, more expensive, salon met my request with, "I might be able to do that, I'm not sure" which didn't inspire any confidence. 5 years after moving to Seattle I have FINALLY found a great hairstylist! I saw Jesse for the first time last week. I have very thick, slightly wavy hair that is generally pretty easy to manage. After having had it recently cut to a long layered bob elsewhere, I was really unhappy with the shape of the cut as well as my weird, heavy bangs. Jesse sat me down, asked what my hopes and dreams for my hair were, analyzed my cut and came up with a game plan before going to it. He used a combination of scissors and a razor to reduce heaviness and fix my bangs without reducing the length, and did a GREAT job! The cut brings out my natural texture and is easy to wash and wear. I will absolutely come back!!! Bonuses: There was no pressure at all to buy products, and the price was very affordable for the quality of the cut.
