I debated if I wanted to write this 3-star review because I very much enjoyed meeting Crystal and having a pleasant conversation with her while she cut my hair, but two things bothered me after the haircut. One, my hair was a lot shorter than I had asked. I had asked for a blunt cut, angled bob where the front would hit 1-2 inches below my chin. I ended up with a blunt cut bob but it was 1 inch above my chin at the widest part of my face. That was shocking to me to see once I put my glasses back on. I have low vision so without my glasses on, I couldn't see how short my hair was getting. It is a good and precise cut, but the length is not what I asked for. Second, when I got home I saw my receipt in my email and noticed a $5 Green Circle charge. Looked it up and turns out it's a charge for disposal and recycling of hair, foils, etc. Like Ridwell for hair salons. The Green Circle website suggested that salons charge a small fee like $1 to customers. A $5 fee feels way too high and there was nothing posted in The Collective's website about it. For these things, I'm docking 2 stars. read more

I requested a long angled bob, keeping as much length as possible in the front. It was cut extremely uneven all around. Pictures kinda speak for themselves. She offered for me to come in and get it fixed. But, I made the decision to go elsewhere. read more

Hair cut and tint with incomparable Melanie Evans. Loved the atmosphere and ORIBE products.

It's always been hard to find someone who can cut curly hair. After having relocated to the area, my former stylist in Dallas, TX recommended Mel. I am so glad that I went to see her. She was amazing and very spot on with the haircut. Showed her a picture of what I was trying to go for and she delivered. I loved how she talked about the desired style and how my hair would be with the cut and how she would do some adjustments to give me what I would like. The salon is a cute place with ample parking. Friendly staff and a clean space. I am not going to look anywhere else for a haircut as long as I live here. read more

We felt very welcomed, had some fun conversation...and, as always, Randy really asked the questions, listened and did an exceptional job bringing out my personality and making my hair look lovely and flattering. I was pleasantly surprised when the scheduling site reflected last minute openings and I booked an appt same day. Crystal was friendly and understood what I wanted and I was able to share a photo of what I was seeking. She communicated the entire time and shared that they are able to help refresh or do fashion colors should I want to explore those options with them. She asked about weekend plans and offered to do a style that would hold up for my evening plans for my partners bday. I really appreciated the kindness and consideration. The prices are super comparable and for the basic cut you also get a wash and style where it's usually added costs at competitors. I feel like I have my own personal "hair whisperer" in Randy! He understands my hair in a way that only a few hair stylists ever have. Something about the way he cuts it really brings out the best in my hair and I am able to style it in ways that I never used to be able to do. Randy really listens and takes the time to teach me how to style my hair at home -- what products and tools to use and why. Randy is great! He listens well and is good at figuring out what I want in spite of pretty vague direction from me. I have long hair and have learned that a lot of stylists don't really know how to cut long hair - I think there's a tendency to cut too many layers - but Randy knows exactly what to do to give my thick, but fine, hair movement and volume without leaving the ends too thin. I'm sure long-haired people reading this know what I'm saying. Randy is also great with styling tips. I love Oribe products and he helps me understand how to use them the right way. read more

To say Randy is the best hair stylist I've ever had would be an understatement. This guy KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. If you don't believe me just ask him about his hair career. I walked out with the best haircut I've ever had. Melanie at The Collective does an amazing job with my short and curly hair - she works with the curls instead of trying to tame them, and spends the time needed to make it easy for me to maintain. This Salon is in a great downtown location, easy to get to from the freeway, and easy access to the parking garage. There is also shopping and dinning here. My stylist, Sheri G always listens to my hair concerns. I get a color and cut when I go here and it always turns out just the way I like it. I also like the product line she uses, I bought some hair spray and it works really well along with smelling fabulous.
