The haircut seems decent , nothing extravagant for the exorbitant price, I paid around $150 for medium length hair , I bought an organic product for skin don't remember the exact cost but I believe my total bill came close to $250 , they really push you to buy products, I believe you can get the same service at less than half the rate at a lot of other decent Salons. Also I realize the skin care product I bought doesn't really feel that good on my skin, so I barely use it, obviously that doesn't mean the product might be bad.. Went in for a haircut earlier this year. At that time, I also had a consultation for balayage because I wasn't really sure what I wanted yet. I wanted to share some pictures and get their opinion and then simmer on it. After a month of two, I reached back out to schedule an appointment and was declined service. I was told that they could not achieve the color I was looking for....but didn't even get a chance to share what I wanted after these last couple of months of thinking on it. Stylists I've gone to in the past are willing to work with me, educate me, and translate my vision into something that works for my complexion. This review is long over due. The haircut I received was nothing special. What I do remember is that when she was cutting my hair she made comments about how bad my current haircut was as if she could sell me on her skills by trash talking about my previous stylist. Very unprofessional. I also did not appreciate her high pressure sales tactics to sell me products. I'm assuming they are marked up 100% so she made more from the products I bought than she did from the haircut. I actually like the brand of hair products (Davines) she sells but she sold me products that are not appropriate for my hair type. For example, styling mousse. She told me that I could use it on my wet hair to help give it a little extra help if I wasn't going to style it and just air dry it. This is not true. My hair was completely and totally flat and gross when I used the mousse and air dried. I also asked my new stylist about this and she told me if I wanted to use the particular mousse I bought that I should at least blow dry my hair. Because of this advice, I questioned how knowledgeable she is about hair and her ethics. I also felt she pressured me to prebook my next appointment as if she thought once I booked it, I wouldn't cancel. In response to Sarah's comment to my review of her business: I appreciate your gracious response. I do want to point out though that I don't think it is EVER okay for a business to read a yelp review and then look through their customer list for your contact information. If I wanted to chat, I would've called you. This review isn't for me or about me getting my money back, it is for all the Yelpers out there who want more information about a business before they decide to become a patron. read more

I was in the market for a new stylist and found Sarah on Yelp and thought she sounded amazing. I was very excited since I live in QA and was really looking forward to finally finding a great stylist. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. I called for an appointment which was easy enough but in the week preceding my appointment she rescheduled me THREE TIMES. Clearly she was bouncing me around to cater to her other clients. I gave her the benefit of the doubt though and went in for my appointment. The haircut turned out fine. I didn't exactly get the cut I wanted, but it got the job done. A few weeks later I contacted her for a bang trim. My availability is pretty much wide open since I live and work in the neighborhood so I thought it would be easy. We went back and forth for a few days via email trying to find an appointment time. The last email I received from her was offering me an appointment on a day I had said in a previous email that I was out of town. After emailing back with that fact, again, and asking for another option I never heard from Sarah again. That was over three weeks ago. My entire experience with Sarah left me feeling unappreciated, annoyed and offended. Her unprofessionalism is astounding. Positive experience from start to finish. I've definitely found a stylist I want to stick with. I found Sarah here on Yelp and sent her an email to see if she wanted to handle what I thought was a hair crisis. Sarah responded quickly and answered all of my questions and offered some services she thought might help. She was very flexible with my awkward schedule and got me in right before the Thanksgiving holiday. I was familiar with her location because I only live a few blocks away, so getting there was super easy. When I arrived, I had never realized her salon was in an charming hotel. I had just finished reading Patti Smith's "Just Kids" and couldn't stop making Chelsea Hotel references to myself. There is something inconspicuously glamorous about the whole thing. When I walked in to the salon itself, it smelled so yummy thanks to some oils in the bathroom, that I forgot I was in a hair salon and felt like I was due for a massage! Sarah obviously has a brilliant eye for design and decor and has a simple, chic, and elegant style. Her product wall was color coordinated, the wall paint was relaxing and modern, and everything seemed to be there for a reason. There is nothing more annoying to me than kitschy decor just for decor sake. The actual hair cut was brilliant, Sarah asked me good questions and I felt like she was interacting with my hair on an individual basis, rather than just another head of hair. I've never been the type to walk in with a picture and say, "this is what I want," but I'm always looking for something different. Sarah let me voice my opinions about what i'd like and together we worked out what would and wouldn't work. It was just relieving. I've been living in Seattle for nearly 7 years now, and have bounced between several hair stylists. I have thick, dark hair and have always felt like my hair was more of a burden to stylists than something that's fun to work with. But now, those days are over! I appreciate that Sarah is real- she wasn't going to let me change my hair to a color that didn't work well/wouldn't last long, and she wanted me to be excited about the cut that I ended up with. She's really easy to talk to, so I felt instantly comfortable and enjoyed the experience. It doesn't hurt that her salon is adorable (and filled with amazing products- beauty products included!). I ended up with a cut that I totally love (and have gotten endless compliments on), and will certainly be going back! In terms of price- it's not inexpensive- but I appreciated that Sarah let me know which of my purchases were merchandise (i.e. didn't need to have tip added).
