We went to NoBo last night. Not sure why it says "The Pasta Factory" here because the place is called "NoBo: Grill & Wine" and I don't recall any pasta on the menu unless you count gnocchi.... Anyways, NoBo was great. First, the ambiance is great. When you're driving up you first realize this is not your typical kosher restaurant - even the outside looks more 'normal' and quite frankly, nice. The inside is also very nice and doesn't scream kosher restaurant.... so this is definitely a place to bring your non-kosher friends because they wont feel uncomfortable - this is something EVERY kosher restaurant should try to achieve, but unfortunately most do not get anywhere close, which is really quite sad for us kosher patrons. So, we started the meal with a carafe of Sangria, plus the "disco fries," the sweetbreads, and the gnocchi for appetizers. Disco fries were good - the fake "cheese" tasted pretty close to real. Gnocchi was good but nothing to write home about for me, probably wouldn't order it again. The sweetbreads were incredible. Everyone at the table loved them and I would definitely order that dish over and over again. Everyone ordered different things for their main courses and everyone seemed very happy. My husband absolutely loved his steak. One person did find their burger to be a little under-cooked for his taste, but that was the only complaint i heard.... and it wasn't bad enough to send it back for some more cooking. So, I obviously liked the place - why didn't I give it 5 stars? Pretty much one reason - service. I don't want this to speak of all the service there - because i saw several members of the waitstaff were very attentive.... unfortunately that was not the case for us. He didn't even try to get our entree orders until after we were basically done with the appetizers... so then we had to wait longer - and we ended up being there for about 3 hours in total which I might have preferred not to have been there so long (thankfully I had some good company, or I may have been getting antsy). Honestly, when my food arrived (even before that really - when we were ordering the entrees) my appetizers were pretty settled so I wasn't really hungry anymore. I almost thought about not even ordering an entree because I was so stuffed - which I wouldn't have felt that way if he had come taken our order sooner. He also wasn't very attentive with drinks. Lastly, he knew it was my husband's birthday but didn't bring out any dessert with a candle so he could make a wish.... which, considering how much money we were spending there, he should have most definitely done. Yes, Nobo is pricey for a suburban Kosher place. But it truly does rival the better known Kosher steakhouse Prime Grill in Manhattan in terms of quality and service, and exceeds the Manhattan Kosher steakhouses in terms of portion size. My wife and I were on a limited budget and we both had the $21 hamburger. This was, bar none, the best burger I've ever eaten. It's massive, thick, and still juicy somehow all the way through--tough to do with kosher beef, which tends to dry out. A touch (not overdone) of carmelized onions and greens top the burger, and the herbed fries are a light, perfect complement to the heavier burger. To top it off, the chef Joshua Massin makes rounds to ask patrons about their meals--nice touch! Will def eat here again read more

As someone who does not keep kosher, and who has spent some time exploring the great food in the area, I can say without a doubt that Nobo is the best kosher restaurant for fine dining I have ever come across. I was at April Bloomfields "The Spotted Pig" in the last month, and Chef Joshua Massin's cooking can be spoken of in the same breath. The food is unparalleled, the service friendly, not overly formal, and knowledgable. There is nothing available in the kosher world that comes close to the charcuterie being done at Nobo. The quality of the ingredients is exceptional. The proteins are honored on every plate. The presentation is attractive. The cooking innovative, delicious, and contemporary. Were I to get the a check at a non kosher restaurant of similar quality, with the same price as one gets at Nobo, I would say it was a good deal. read more

Dena at the front desk is amazing! She is competent, pleasant and accommodating. She was manning the front, answering phones, writing up gift certificates, and serving tables all with a pleasant and friendly attitude. They are lucky to have her in their employ! read more

No no! No words, I was really excited about this place, even came back because the first time the place was full. Food was slightly expensive, not very good. The fresh bread was the best part of the meal. I dont eat mushrooms or veal so I was limited to only two plates on the entire menu. I ordered a salad which consisted of 4 leaves and cost $14, no exaggeration. My bf ordered a burger and the meat was not the best, fries slightly okay. Service is good, they are friendly. I cant understand what the rave reviews are about (maybe this is the only Kosher restaurant in the area?), we will not be going back. Looked across the room and the meats on other peoples plate did not look or smell good, definitlely not $70 worth. We will go to Ruth Chris' Steakhouse instead. I have eaten at Nobo many times over the past many years. My most recent experience was so disappointing that it merits this review. The "12 oz Angus Rib Eye Burger" was ridiculously over-salted. I should have sent it back to the kitchen, but did not have time available for that. The burgers at nearby kosher restaurants including Noah's Ark, Hummus Elite, and Sababa are much tastier -- as anticipated. I expected more from a Nobo $35, "12 oz Angus Rib Eye Burger." I am well aware of the head chef's culinary skills and reputation. His expertise is clearly not transmitted to or shared by his staff. It will be a long time before I return for very salty and barely edible meat. read more

I would rate this restaurant highly on food, upscale atmosphere and attentive service, whether it was kosher or not. I am not kosher, but met with friends who are and we enjoyed the meal as much as almost any good restaurant we've been to. Yes, it is pricey and noisy, but not much more than many restaurants of its type. We tried the "special" artichoke soup and loved it. The beef is terrific and the hamburger--simple and inexpensive--was delicious as was the Scottish salmon. The grilled pineapple dessert with basil and pepper was novel and a great idea. We can easily recommend this restaurant. One question I have is, why is it identified here as grill and "strip club"? That is misleading! A strip club is it NOT! Truly one of the worst meals in my memory. The steak was fatty, completely overcooked, and calling the waiter slow and useless is simply too kind. Given the lack of comparable Kosher restaurants, I guess they can get away with this, but otherwise I can't fathom how they stay in business. read more

Great pasta dishes and a full meat menu has been added. Dishes have gotten expensive. Expect to pay $25-$30 per plate for the main. $8 for desserts. Decor is classy, downside is that the building is ~20 feet from the railroad tracks. Outdoor dining when weather permits. Decent wine menu. read more

Simply the best kosher restaurant , and perhaps one of the best in general . I thought I have had great , ( Prime Grill , La marais Prme KO ) , but this is truly a culinary adventure . Manager was extremely rude when I returned a drink that was poured with the wrong alcohol. He embarrassed me in front of potential clients and didn't blink an eye. When I called the owner/head chef the following day, he praised the manager for embarrassing me because he felt I was comprising the integrity of his restaurant as if they never make a mistake. The food was marginal, $70 for an average steak and sides that lacked any originality. The ambience was weird, as if they where trying to make up for the way overpriced food. We had previously dined here 5 years ago for our daughter's (she keeps kosher, we do not) 25th birthday. Enjoyed it very much, and were anxious to come back to celebrate her 30th. Sadly, instead of a celebration, it was a disaster. We waited at least 45 minutes for our entrees.....possibly more. So ridiculously long that they brought out the birthday dessert for her before the dinner (probably assuming we had finished eating). Not sure what the problem was, because the waiter was pretty much invisible so there was no explanation nor apologies made. My 94 year old father waited at least half an hour for the coffee he ordered...again, no sign of the waiter in between. They emptied the water decanter into my glass, and never returned with it, despite being asked for water several times. Dinners were okay...certainly not the quality of the meals we had 5 years ago. Once we finished dinner, and our daughter's b-day cake came back out (with a candle, but no one singing, as they had done for other tables), 2 men in our party ordered dessert as well. Again, waiting and waiting...no sign of the waiter. Finally just chased someone down to tell them to cancel the dessert. Only then did someone show up at our table to explain that the order had just gone in 10 minutes prior (which was about 20 minutes after it should've), and that they both take 15 minutes to prepare. Of course the waiter hadn't informed us of that fact. We had a 3 year old with us, and weren't about to wait so long. We were already there for 2-1/2 hours, which was certainly not our intention having a 3 year old with us. Well, after that, the owner came over to ask how everything was. My dad (G-d bless him) informed him that it was the worst service he'd ever had. He said he was sorry to hear it, but never asked why or spoke to any of the rest of us to find out why. Now the bill comes....they actually tacked on an 18% gratuity, standard for parties of 6 or more. We were 5, plus a 3 year old. Seriously? Got him to take off the 18%. My husband did leave 15%, which is low for what we usually leave, but he did not deserve anything! As we were leaving, we were treated like lepers. No apologies, no good nights, no nothing. Terrible waiter service, and customer service. Expected a lot more for the price, extremely disappointing, ruined our daughter's birthday....we will not be back. read more

This place is amazing. I had the 20oz rib eye steak and I could not finish it. That's how good it tastes. My friend ordered the center cut steak medium-rare, but one half was medium-well. He asked if he could have just a new steak, but they brought him an entire new platter along with the mashed potatoes and green beans (also both equally delicious.) This new platter was free of charge. In the end they took off for both the original and new platter of food, so we had to pay nothing for it. read more

All the food is completely bland with absolutely NO taste whatsoever. Just because it's a kosher restaurant doesn't mean they can't use spices or herbs. Plus not having a kids menu is ridiculous for religious couples who come with children. read more

The food was fantastic. But the service was awful. The staff is extremely unprofessional. Talking loudly about their relationship drama, smoking pot, and cursing. The waiters were also frequently hugging and touching each other inappropriately. Instead of tending to their tables, they were on their phones. The final straw, was a waiter smoking an electronic cigarette and letting the smoke blow in my face, all while he should have been working. Skip it if you're a meat lover. $58 steak came over cooked and not too tasty. Server was unapologetic and instead of replacing the dish made some excuses. Side dishes and appetizers were extremely salty and not too fancy. The only decent dish was the soup of the day. There are much better kosher places at this price range. I never make reviews about anything but I decided that this place needed my two cents. Last night I went for dinner and although I'd give this place at least 3 stars the service was absolutely terrible. Upon arrival to the restaurant the hostess was very nice. She welcomed us in immediately and offered us two different choices of seating (inside or out). We chose outside and the ambiance was okay it did get better as the night got darker. It took us awhile to get any water because the other waiters were busy with other tables. When we were finally given some water the waitress spoke so fast that I couldn't even understand. When we asked her to repeat whatever she said in the beginning (which ended up being the specials of the night) she became outwardly frustrated. My husband and I chose to shake it off. Everything we ordered was great, the food was spectacular. We had the salad with mushrooms, a flatbread and a chicken dish. I totally recommend it to anyone going! Through the night I felt as if I was a bother to our waitress. Eventually if my husband and I needed anything we tried approaching the other waiter but our original waitress seemed frustrated every time we did. Its so easy for a waiter/waitress to change your experience at a restaurant. I really hope that their approach on service improves. read more

In a word -- perfect. Food, service, ambience -- all perfect. First let me say that I am no fan of Kosher. But this is different. To begin with, the menu selection was diverse and had something for everyone. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the lamb riblets. Normally, I wouldn't order them because they are a fatty cut, but they were recommended. While naturally a little fatty, they were well worth it. We also shared salads, each of which were prepared with care and skill. The beet salad was particularly enjoyable. The chef even came over to ask how we liked them. We had short ribs, duck, steak and burgers for dinner. I would order any of those main courses again. They were all prepared as ordered, flavorful, and the portion sizes were substantial. Same with the sides. They were all terrific. I take my hat off to every employee of Nobo for proving that you can in fact create a great kosher restaurant with an eclectic menu, all delivered at a price point not much higher than a comparable non-kosher restaurant. read more
