This place has really declined. The food quality hasn't just gone downhill--it's hit rock bottom--while prices continue to climb. Our favorites: beef egg rolls, Sechuan chicken, General Tzo's chicken, chicken in garlic sauce, veal in garlic sauce, steamed wontons in garlic sauce, curried chicken. Haven't ordered any beef dishes for many years; wasn't a fan of their beef. No credit cards accepted--checks or cash. Full time mashgiach (kosher supervision). I find them accommodating and flexible regarding substitutions. Ordered food from here for the first time in a while (probably several years now) and the quality has really gone down from what it used to be like. Maybe my standards have just gone up but I remember actually enjoying this food once upon a time. The vegetables don't taste fresh at all and have a weird plastic-y aftertaste. Of course, I'm not expecting something gourmet from a Chinese takeout joint but I would expect it to at least be comparable to any other cheap Chinese takeout and its just not there. I honestly think that the only way they've stayed afloat is because they are the only Kosher Chinese food place in a town that is mostly Jewish. Food preparation is very inconsistent. Each of the cooks wings it each time -- with respect to quantity, ratio of ingredients, and spiciness of sauce. Vegetables are routinely cut into pieces that are larger than bite-size, requiring the use of a knife when eating. Service at the counter is poor. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor waiting on you: Today I waited 5 minutes for someone to wait on me, even though there were no other customers in the store at the time. Also, if the girl taking orders is eating behind the counter, she takes your order in between mouthfuls of food. They overcharge sales tax. I was told to call in the morning and when they didn't pick up their phone, I went over there and they said, we're too busy doing catering orders and call back at 3. Ordered food on Sunday Evening, Wanted Beef Sticks ....none....Wanted Spare Ribs....none. Placed an order of Chicken lo mein, meat egg rolls, wonton soup, General Tso's chicken. Within literally 2 minutes I called back to change my Lo Mein order from chicken to beef, I was told by the owners daughter, sorry I cannot....it was already being made !....wow fast........!! Ordered beef lo mein..... Order was brought home... I should preface this by saying, my family has been ordering there for over 2 decades. More often than, than now, however this time........This order........was terrible. The wonton's in the soup, had a small amt of filling.....and the taste was off. The egg rolls were smaller.......there was minimal amt., just specks of meat. The chicken lo mein had 6 small pieces of chicken, 3 pea pods, No carrots, corn, a few pieces of onion............Yes I counted....I couldn't believe it ! that is it along with overdone noodles. General Tso's........it looked and tasted like it was recooked from Thursday, Since they are closed Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. a small amt of broccoli......no carrots......nothing else. There was more fried batter than chicken pieces. I called the next day to complain.....the mashgiach wanted nothing to do with the situation, so the phone went on to the owner's daughter.......who................was the person who took my order Sunday night !!!! Quite rude to say the least. Shame on this kosher food establishment for serving this. Perhaps it was a new cook that was learning ? Perhaps because it was on a Sunday night and they close at 9 PM ? Her husband calls today (Thursday) and they tell him they can't take the order because they are filled up with orders. Great lunch specials, DELICIOUS hot and sour soup (which is very easy not to get right), and most of their stuff leaves you full and happy, in a way which is exceptional for a take-out joint. After calling ahead and asking for extra spicy on more then one dish already labeled spicy on the menu. I brought the food home to find not a single dish with any perceptible spice level. All the food had the same sweet brown sauce flavor. The broccoli in garlic sauce came with peppers and was not half broccoli. The garlic wantons were just sweet, and the eggplant with chicken and garlic sauce was not the slightest bit spicy. When I called neither the person who answered the phone nor the manager was willing to admit they did not make any spicy food in the restaurant, and told us that they made it extra spicy. and they didn't have any spicier peppers in the restaurant. For the life of me what Chinese restaurant can't add some more chili oil to the wok while making a sauce. Why would do they pretend to have spicy food on the menu, why would they take my order as extra spicy if they did not intend to comply? read more

Now they are closed because they were dropped by their Kashrus certification and can't find another ? Kosher Express' complaint that all the good reviews are taken down is a joke. Those good reviews are few and far between, AND over 4 years old. The only thing that has gone up are the prices. They seem to reprint the menus every 3 months with prices 5-10 higher each time. The quality of the food has gone down from the past so I can't complain about the smaller portions either. We starter to go to the place in Teaneck only about 10 minutes away and have enjoyed it. Their prices are also about 10% lower. So even though we live in Fair Lawn we now go to Teaneck most times. Did I forget about telling you of the always rude woman at the counter? All I read on reviews is that they are a small Mom & Pop place, so shouldn't they work harder? They think they people will not go to Teaneck but many have. read more

Went today and got a lot of food. The fried food was very crispy and freshly fried. The general tso is better then our local place. Just terrible - by far the worst Kosher Chinese food we have ever had. Sesame chicken and beef with broccoli were horrific. Egg drop soup was bland, but the hot & sour was somewhat ok. These dishes are very popular and i would expect much better. Meat quality was ok, but failed on flavor. Will not go back. We are very disappointed since it's the only kosher Chinese within a reasonable distance to our home (ridgewood). read more
