    a box of assorted donuts
    Missi R.

Updating my review after several years. I hadn't been here for some time but needed to pick up a box of donuts at the last minute, and the closest donut shop to my destination was Jack's. It was very busy at 9:00 am on a Saturday morning. I counted 15 customers in line ahead of me. The line did move fairly quickly, with several employees waiting on customers. I ordered "Jack's Dozen" which included donut holes. I selected several different varieties of donuts and a mixed bag of donut holes. The price for "Jack's Dozen" was $18.50. Everything was just ok. Nothing wrong with the donuts but nothing special about them either. The long John's are not filled. In fact, several of the donut varieties didn't contain filling. With the exception of one donut (a long john with sprinkles, for a child who loves sprinkles) I ordered all donuts with filling. Actually the donuts look better than they taste. They look delicious but taste just ok. The chocolate donut holes were hard and didn't have much flavor. The other varieties of donut holes were better. There are several donut shops in Indy and surrounding areas that have really great donuts, so I probably won't be a regular here.

I haven't bought donuts in a long time but was doing a presentation and wanted to give people something to eat for breakfast. Lots of choices and good variety to chose from. I went at 9 and still a good selection. I would like more cake donut options but that's personal preference. Better than Dunkin.

We went to Jacks donuts today and they were large and delicious! Very happy to hear they are back to making scratch donuts made in house!! Welcome back Jacks!

Love the donuts... I'm a donut fanatic and tough critic. Overall great selection, nothing too fancy or over the top with the options, however everything I've tried have been exception. The braided twist donuts are a must! I just tried their cronut for the first time... delicious! If you've never had one before, a cross between a donut and a cross is any croissant!

I had just gotten out of an appointment and was craving Jacks Donuts. I had not been to Jack's in quite a while, so this was good for me to visit this location again. It is just as how I remembered it, and was very clean inside. The ambiance is very good and much more organized than the last time I was here. The donuts are awesome and come in a variety of flavors. The fruity pebbles donut is the best! I was so happy to see that they had gluten free donuts, so I picked up a half dozen of them to take home. The woman behind the counter was very professional and nice and took good care of me, so I was happy to see that! These days I am eating healthy and trying to take better care of myself, but I had to have some donuts every now and then, so was proud to be in the area and pick up some Jack's Donuts. Jack's Donuts are high quality in my opinion and they taste amazing!! They always get creative with their flavors, which I appreciate very much! Everyone should experience Jack's Donuts in Indiana because it is worth trying once. You will not be disappointed!

Jack's Donuts is a very friendly and inviting place. I received fast and courteous service with a smile. There is a wide and varied selection of donuts and other tasty treats. The shop is clean and immaculate, plenty of room if you wish to sit and eat your treat(s). I have been to many donut shops across the US; Jack's Donuts has caught my eye. If I ever come back to Carmel, Indiana, I will definitely be coming back here again. Give Jack's a try, once you take a bite you'll know why

    Yummy!

These Donuts were definitely worth the 20 minute wait!! When we arrived around 9am there was a pretty long line out the door. The line moved pretty quickly. They were efficient and fast! The employees were kind and friendly! The donuts were fresh and so yummy! They were like eating a fluffy cloud! I would 100% recommended Jacks Donuts! If I'm ever back in town I will look forward to coming back!

Their blueberry donuts are to DIE for. I'm a huge fan and my heart breaks a little every time I don't go early enough to buy some before they sell out. If you are just looking for something quick and easy, get their glaze donut holes! Can't ever go wrong with glaze.

Early mornings at Jack's: a vibe!

It's hard to satiate a Krispy Kreme craving in Indiana. Of course, you can always do it by grabbing a box at your local Kroger (God knows I've resorted to that far more times than I'd like to admit) but having finally come to terms with the fact that we will never be among the privileged bunch that gets to enjoy freshly-baked Krispy Kremes, a hankering for a glazed donut had me looking local. Jack's is no Long's...it's fluffy, sure, but a little too much glaze and sugar prevents you from tasting the 'yeastiness' (and I mean that in the best way possible, in this case) of the donut dough. Regardless, a glazed donut at Jack's surprisingly hits the spot, and a glance at the case showed a lot more promising offers as well. I was shocked to see a line out the door that never seemed to stop: it seems Jack's is a Carmel favorite. Most customers were grabbing dozens, accompanied by many, many donut holes which also looked extremely tempting! I'm a donut traditionalist myself, but I do want to go back and give their Bavarian cream and caramel-iced long john a try one day. Something tells me they'll be well worth the calories.

The donuts never seem to be fresh. Everyone's usually polite, but I wish the product was better because it's close to where I work.

This third time I was picking up 18 pastries - 3 different types- all delicious and superbly baked AND a cake. WOW! The cake was amazingly beautiful! delicious and decorated exquisitely with huge intricate frosting flowers and leaves. I'm very very happy with my order- they even helped me carry it to the car. This bakery made my special family party a huge success, everyone enjoyed the food and remarked on how delicious it looked and tasted. Thank you SO much for making the event extra special

The raspberry pistachio croissant? Oh. My. God. This thing had me in a chokehold. Flaky, buttery layers with the perfect balance of tart raspberry and rich pistachio. It wasn't just good -- it was write-home-about-it good. The kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite and question every other croissant you've ever had. The second was a croissant sandwich (I wish I could remember the name!), but the way those flavors paired together? Let's just say it was a full culinary experience. Savory, balanced, indulgent -- you get the hint. Every bite just made sense. Now here's the part that really says something: I grew up on the East Coast where authentic French bakeries are everywhere and the cultural standard is high. I know a proper croissant. And this? This was better. Yes, I said it. We even had the chance to speak with the owner, who was incredibly warm and genuine. He checked in to make sure we enjoyed everything -- which we clearly did, considering we left with boxes to take home. This place isn't just a pastry shop. It's an experience. And trust me, it will be a topic of discussion in our house for days. Run. Don't walk.

Yesterday, I decided that I would not be cooking dinner and instead opted to order pizza and dessert to be picked up on my way home. This is such a cute, quaint little shop located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station. So very unassuming, yet quite impressive. I loved the two cute yellow tables and chairs out on the sidewalk as well as the Sinatra that was playing when I entered the shop. I was greeted warmly and let me say how much I value a pleasant and genuine interaction like that. Someone came to the front of the store from the kitchen in the back, and she too greeted me with a very welcoming and warm smile. This fact alone makes me want to return and support this place of business. My pizzas were prepared fresh and handed to me hot out of the oven. The deserts, an assortment of 3 different kinds of cookies as well as two slices of cake, were kept separate and cold. My husband loved the pizza (he is somewhat of a connoisseur) and I enjoyed it as well. The carrot cake was a bit dense for my liking and the pistachio ricotta was decadent. My husband really enjoyed these sweet treats as a night cap! I loved the cookies. I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. It had a great contrast in texture with the soft-baked cookie being perfectly complemented by the crunch of the pistachio pieces, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more cookies, cakes and pastries in the future! They also carry some authentic imported Italian products, such as pomodoro sauce.

Much like the downtown Indy location, Lemon's is technically located within the Carmel Needler's. However, Lemon's has its own separate entrance and storefront while existing on the east end of Needler's. You can access Needler's directly from Lemon's Bakery Cafe. Lemon's has a small counter with display cases for its baked goods. Like the downtown Indy location, they offer sweets from Noblesville's Rosie's and they offer a variety of local coffees and a rather extensive list of coffee options. There's also a relatively small dining area with booths appropriate for 2-3 people. I found this area not entirely wheelchair friendly, though I could make it work. My best option was sitting at the end of a row of booths which put me pretty much close to the door on a rather chilly day. The employee working was super quiet but friendly and helpful. I ordered two chocolate frosted donuts, they have donuts, and I was honestly a bit stunned they were only $2 total. They do have higher-priced items, of course. The donuts were fresh and delicious and definitely hit the spot on a rainy, dreary day here in Indy. I appreciated that the doors were automatic doors and that there was accessible parking directly in front of the entrance. I also appreciated being able to check out Needler's, though to grab a cart you do have to go down to the Needler's entrance. While I wouldn't consider Lemon's a destination bakery, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in while in the area and this has become a nice little strip center with Needler's, a CVS, Roots Burger Bar, Rad's, and a couple other fun businesses to check out here. Business was steady in the few minutes I was here and it seems to be a stop for neighborhood families. If you're in the area and craving some baked goods Lemon's is a convenient, affordable option that also supports local!
