There are so many Filipino restaurants in Carson but certain ones don't always have what you're looking for. Nita's has a solid selection and great prices. I'm always craving sisig and they have it daily. Nice and sour with that grilled taste that everyone loves. I took one star off because it's not the nicest restaurant and also because they didn't have lechon, but other than that, I'd keep coming back for more. Can't beat $6.50 for a two item combo! Like everybody has been claiming, the pork bbq here is bomb! It's juicy, got the right char and flavor! I would definitely come back for more! I also tried the sisig. Surprisingly, it's not what I expected. It seemed like a chopped up "inihaw na spareribs" (grilled spare ribs). From other sisigs that I have tried, usually it comes with egg but I did not notice that one here. Nonetheless, how they make their sisig is still very good and yes, would come back again for more. Fried chicken in here too is awesome! It's cooked to a crisp. I enjoy peeling the skin off and dip it with the banana ketsup. Customer service is great! They treat you like family. Another Pilipino turo-turo (food is laid out cafeteria style and you point to what you want) restaurant in Carson that I tried for lunch a couple of days ago. It is located in a small strip mall with very tight parking but I managed to get a spot right outside the shop as someone was pulling out. I walked in and got in line and asked for the two item combo to go. I asked for my usual chicken adobo and was given a curt response that they did not have that. Hmmmmm well then how about some other chicken dish - No. How about beef steak - No or anything else in beef - No. This was turning out to be a problem. My server was a older lady who sensed that I was going to cancel my order (she had already put two scoops of rice for my order in the to-go box) so she made a face as if I had force fed her half a bottle of castor oil right there and then, so I decided to chuck the $6.50 and see if they have something in fish. Success at last, so on go three decent sized pieces of fried fish. Server demands the second item. Fine - are these vegetables? Yes. No meat? Yes. Ok that will do. Pay up which obviously is cash only. No soup which I had come to expect from this type of place. Now comes the difficult part of eating the food. As the fried fish and vegetables were dumped side-by-side the sauce from the vegetables seeped into the fried fish making it completely soggy. Anyway I take a bite of the soggy fish and almost break my teeth - 80% of the fish fillet is the bone that makes the spinal cord of the fish and the rest 20% is batter. Same for the other two pieces. Ok, so fish needs to be thrashed. Lets eat vegetables and rice. Eat a couple of bites and then come up on a distinct piece of fatty meat. Knowing that they did not have any chicken or beef I can only assume that it is not chicken or beef so decide not to eat any more and thrash the remaining stuff too. A complete waste of money that I don't plan to repeat in the future. My major learning from this experience is, when visiting any turo-turo restaurant to first ask - Do you have chicken adobo? Anything else in chicken? How about beef steak? Anything else in beef? If none of the answers are yes, then politely thank the person behind the counter and double time out of the restaurant. read more

The sisig here is topshelf! Even though sisig is traditionally made with pig head and made crispy, this version uses lean pork and it delivers! It's got a strong citrus flavor and a great char flavor to the pork. 5/5 The pork bbq sticks are a bit of a let down for me considering the amount of fat on it. The marinade, flavor, and char is excellent though. Anyone that can't handle fat on their meat should stay away. 3/5 Overall, I give this place a 3.5. The food quality is good, they just sell out of their signature dishes occasionally so a phone call can help save some time. read more

Good food for great price. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. We were the only non-Filipino people in the entire place. The line is long but it goes fast. Went on a Monday around 11:30 am and the line was out the door! I felt very lost because I don't speak Tagalog. The woman asked me what I wanted and I said "I don't know anything that is good" she gave me the two item combo that came with rice, BBQ Pork, and sisig. I REALLY liked the bbq, so flavorful and lots of big pieces! However there were some large fat parts on the skewer. The sisig was very flavorful, a little spicy. I've been looking for home-style pork BBQs and I've tried other Filipino places, but NITA'S is by far has the most delish pork BBQ ever! They serve it everyday too! Aside from the pork BBQ, they also serve chicken BBQs. This became my go-to Filipino restaurant. They renovated the place and it's now bigger and the TV is always on (Filipino channel). A decent place to have lunch and dinner. They serve home-style dishes that varies from day to day, they have grilled fish and desserts everyday. They also have Filipino sodas like SARSI (the best sarsaparilla or similar to rootbeer), and ROYAL (similar to orange Fanta). Sometimes they also have the fresh fruit juice called Melon Juice ( with melon shavings) and coconut juice (in cans)...everything is so good! My only con is sometimes, the food can be too salty for my taste (that's just me) and the lack of vegetable variety, sometimes I don't see them or they serve it late - when I already ordered my food. And they are closed every Sunday. Food to try (well, I always order): - Pork BBQ skewers - Turon (dessert: fried banana with jackfruit wrapped in lumpia wrapper) - Sweet Mungo beans - Ginataan - Sarsi (the rootbeer in can) Oh and they do catering too. read more

this place use to be a good catering place during holidays. i have always used them ordering all kinds of pinoy food from lumpia to pansit to bbq. well, this last thanksgiving holiday i ordered 4 items and 3 of them were really not good for pinoy standard. the pansit was pale (the noodles were almost white) and there was almost no sahog or ingredients in it (like shrimp or even chicken meat) and it was $40 for the half tray. the lumpia were burnt and the stuffing is all carrots. maybe there's meat if you can see it. it's still good to eat there though but not catering. read more

This restaurant has decent quality food especially the pork bbq. One thing that was a big disappointment is the customer service by phone. I called to ask if they have a certain dish and the lady on the phone had a very rude tone even though we asked VERY nicely. Over the past year my aunt has been bringing over a tray of sisig to every family event. And must I say, this is the BEST sisig I have EVER tasted. I am not the only one who thinks that...this sisig is a HIT at every party for filipinos & non-filipinos alike. As a result I asked her where she keeps ordering this classic fiipino dish from and she tells me from Nita's. So one day I decided to visit Auntie Nita & order some of that mouthwatering sisig for myself & my boyfriend. The restaurant is small & quaint but flooding with people waiting in line for some lunch. The service is great & the people are nice and very helpful. I go in at around noon and the cook tells me to come back at 1pm because the dish isn't ready yet. I take a detour to Target down the block for an hour and then return. Already there are pre-orders of sisig ready to go. I'm talking big platters and to-go boxes full of sisig and the people in line behind me waiting to get a piece of it themselves. Now you can't tell me that this isn't worth waiting for, but it certainly is! The meat is so juicy and has that nice bbq taste. It's a bit spicy because I think they add jalapenos and boy does it give it a great kick! The sauteed onions go really well with this dish maintaining a nice crunch..a get addition as far as texture. I can not really explain the marinade that is used for this dish but there is definitely some kind of citrus element, maybe calamansi? It is just a great dish overall and it's not too fatty like some sisig dishes can be. I think that's what I love the most about it. I would say that generally all sisig dishes are kind of fatty. I know the fat makes the taste & filipinos are all about fatty foods, but because I recently have been concerned about my fat intake I try to stay away from foods like that (which makes me sad because all filipino dishes are fatty!). There are no blocks of fat to be found in Nita's sisig which is perfect for anyone who hates chewing down on a mouthful of fat. And so, though I haven't tasted any other dish at Nita's, the sisig itself deserves 4 stars and will keep me coming back. P.S. CASH ONLY!!! read more

Nita's restaurant. Their food tastes delish! In fact I call this my second kitchen. We always buy food here. This is the only Pinoy resto...that passed my taste buds here in Carson! Except for one thing... Their Pork BBQ is always UNDERCOOKED!! I tried to tell them this many times every time I buy their BBQ, most of the time I just throw it because of its not all charred, it's undercooked. But seems like they're just ignoring this... we stopped buying food. Then my husband came home tonight with food, and everyone else was hungry so we ate right away...my son finished the whole stick, he was on the second BBQ when I noticed that the inside of it is still PInK!! It's raw!!! OMG! He finished a stick! Now I am worried he might get sick!! Taenia Solium is the name of the WORM SPECIFICALLY for PORK. Food- avg.. 3 stars. Palabok was decent- 3, lumpia was okay- 2/3, pork ribs were really tasty -4, pork/bbq skewer sucked - maybe 2. Im guessing if you pre-order a platter it's better fresh. Customer service was about a 2. if the lady behind the counter even tried to smile I'd want to give them a higher rating than average- at least for being warm and friendly, which I expect when walking into a smaller mom/pop operation. Especially pinoys damn it! Nothing would make me happier than to support more Pilipino businesses. Unfortunately, the woman serving me looked like she could not possibly be bothered and she clearly had MUCH better things to do than to actually serve a customer. Apparently she was saving up her energy to short me a dollar on my change. I didnt call her on it though... Came in here for the first time since we did not want to wait to order food. It's convenient when you are on the go. Just point want you want and pay. Nothing really stood up.
